DO NOT COME TO THIS JIFFY LUBE (ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE BLACK OR BROWN) I usually don't write reviews, but this needs to be shared. On April 4th, I went in for a consultation on my car's starter and ignition because it would not start consistently. I was quoted 125 for the diagnosis and told it was for an hour of work. I agreed to the fee and sat in the waiting room for 25-30 minutes before my car was pulled to the front. I was called up and told my car was not working because of my key (I lost it 9 months ago and have been starting it weirdly, but it has not caused any problems). I was told the starter and the ignition were checked in that short amount of time. Since it was not even close to a full hour of work, I asked if I could speak to the manager for a discount for the half service. About 10 minutes passed, and another employee named James came out and said, "If you do not pay the full fee, we will call the police." After that comment, the manager gave me a discount for the inconvenience, and since my car started after that whole situation, I paid and left. The next afternoon, my car would not start at all. Since I did not feel comfortable returning to Jiffy Lube for a solution, I called around to some family and other mechanics and ultimately decided it was the starter, even though I was told my starter was fine. Since it would cost around 600 anywhere called, I decided to fix it myself. After about three days of getting the tools and working on the car, I finally changed the starter, and guess what... MY CAR STARTED! So that means the starter was the problem the whole time. After calling twice to see exactly what the notes were on the diagnosis of my car, I was told there were no notes of the service, but the starter was checked. I then asked for a refund because it was apparent nothing was done to my car the first time I came in. After trying to resolve this internally with the employees, I had to go to corporate after zero communication from JL. I reported this situation to the corporate, and after a week of "investigation", the owner of the Ames JL said, "Repairs were refused by the customer." I call corporate again to reinstate communication between me and the owner. The owner called me today and was highly disrespectful after telling him the entire situation. He told me he could do nothing because he felt JL did their jobs... I was perplexed because there was no indication or note in their system that anything had been done to my car. He is just going off of the words of his workers. While I commend him for sticking by his workers, something shady is obviously going on. A good manager/owner would own up to the misdoings of his staff and rectify the situation. Instead, I was met with disrespect and gaslighting. I was not given a refund, and I was given a halved-assed apology. I thank them for the discount, but if James didn't say that dumb shit, I would have been out 125 dollars. if anyone reads this, I hope you never cross paths with these buck tooth, hilly-billy, backwater ass mechanics. My daughter went in for a standard oil change (usually Dad does it for her but she's at college) and Steven S. waited on her. She was never made aware of pricing ahead of time but he did try to upswell her several items she does not need at this time. When she declined, he became short and irritated with her. From reading prior reviews, I suppose she should feel lucky that she was at least asked before having items replaced. However, she left there in tears having expected to pay around $50 for an oil change and being charged double that. It's a college town; be more upfront with charges (and stop being pushy with up sales) as these students are living paycheck to paycheck. read more

On October 31 of 2007, we took my 2007 Subaru Forester there. A technician named Robert accidentally put oil in the transmission area and transmission in the oil area. This destroyed my entire transmission on my brand new (loaned) car. Because I was an economically insecure and naive young woman in my early 20s, they took advantage of the situation, attempted to convince me it was an entirely different issue and refused to compensate me for the transmission, leading me to default on a car that I could not drive anymore (which also led me to lose my job at the time). It was a $20,000+ debt that they never took responsibility for. Nearly thirteen years later, I've obtained multiple degrees and am in a financially privileged situation. I've recovered economically, but I will NEVER forget the unethical management of this company, the incompetence of Robert, and the fact that they took advantage of a poor, naive, minority female in this way. I returned to law school specifically to make sure this doesn't happen to other economically disadvantaged people again. They completely FUCKED MY CAR!!! At the time my semester was ending for me because I go to ISU. So I wanted to get a oil and transmission flush. The blonde lady showed me and asked me if I wanted the best oil and I was like for sure, the same for trans fluid. Flash forward 2 months. My car is FUCKED! I need to get a oil and trans fluid change. So I took it to someone I trusted and when he took dropped my oil out the car it came out completely BLACK. My mom went in to this horrible place to get an oil change and they charged her 170 dollars for an oil change and to replace a cabin air filter on a brand new car. Ripped her off and made her replace something that she didn't even ask for. Don't go to this place because they will screw you over. I have been here twice. The first time was years ago and was awful. This time I went and said my tires were low on air and that I needed my washer fluid filled. I was charged $72. When I got back in my car, my washer fluid was empty but checked as done on my paperwork. Also, my air pressure was not done and was also even listed with numbers as filled. They were not those numbers. I am sure that nothing else was checked. So I got a simple oil change for $72 and that is it. Went in for an oil change. They dropped a screw from my engine air filter housing. I asked about it before I left and they said they put a new one in. When I got home I checked and there was no screw. I then wrote an online complaint. The owner called me and told me he wanted to make it right and said he'd order a screw and my next oil change would be free. He said the screw would be in in a day or 2. A week later I call to check. Do not recommend! Lied about needing new brakes pads. Spilled oil all over my engine and my care smoked for two months after! I headed in for a standard oil change and tire rotation. A blond woman with a huge hickey on her neck, greeted me. She informed me that I needed new brake pads also. She asked if I had to time to wait, so they could order the brake pads in? I did. But...3 hours later! As I sat, watching all the workers take a lunch break, cursing and telling "drunken stories" to one another- still no car. Finally 3.5 hours later, hickey lady tells me that they cannot fix my car and I would need to come back a different time. NO THANKs! When I left, my car engine was smoking and come to find out that oil and oil remover had been splashed all over it. Also- come to find out that they LIED to me! My brake pads are fine- as I took my car to a reputable place after this horrible experience. I would give NO stars if I could! Very unprofessional and and very poor service! read more

My plan was to get a quick oil change at the neighboring LOF Express. It's newer. It has received voter choice awards from the Ames Daily Tribune and the Iowa State Daily. But the line! It was long and my time was short. Jiffy Lube it was. I had a good experience at Jiffy Lube. No line whatsoever. The entrance was a little confusing, with an emphasis on where to go for a car wash. Just drive up to the service bay. There was also a little confusion over whether they had 0W-20 oil. They did. I also understand that selling tire rotations and the like is part of the Jiffy Lube business strategy, but I greatly appreciated that they quickly stopped when I expressed no interest. I asked if there was a coupon I should know about. They indicated they didn't think so. A bit misleading. Thanks Yelper Dustin A. for posting a link to the Ames Jiffy Lube site ($7.25 off). I almost didn't have time to find the coupon. Service was so fast! I also received a voucher for a free car wash at check out. Not bad. I can't speak to whether LOF Express is a better option. It's certainly newer, more popular and different. But when the lines there are long, Jiffy Lube remains a serviceable alternative. read more

I showed up around 3 to get my brake pads replaced and told them I needed to leave before 4:15 for work. It wasn't until 4:10 that they informed me that they had the wrong parts and I had to wait another 20 minutes for someone to deliver the parts. I lost my job because of them and they still tried to get me to pay for services I didn't need. They were rude and basically didn't care that I lost my job. read more

Buyer beware! Besides being way overpriced for everything, they replaced additional items without asking me first. I was traveling through town for work and stopped in for an oil change. My truck is a company fleet vehicle so all service and maintenance is paid directly through the company fleet card. Nobody came in to the waiting room to ask me if I wanted the cabin air filter or windshield wipers replaced but they did them anyways. Wipers were marginal but the cabin air filter didn't need changing yet. It was done on the previous oil change. One of the guys asked me when I wanted to schedule to have my tires replaced. They are less than two years old and nowhere near needing replacement. My guess is he asked the wrong customer or they are just trying to up sale everything. When I asked the girl at the front desk about why they replaced items without asking me, she stated "The fleet company must have told the to replace them." That's not how it works with my fleet company. They won't replace stuff unless needed and confirmed by the driver. Unfortunately, I was tight on time to get to my customer and not able to wait for them to put the original items back in. read more

Sorry I haven't had time reviewing this didnt have time till now, I'm a family man, what I expect is safety and care in oil places LOF has its ups and downs. Jiffy Lube though. No absolutely not! I was in there a few days ago,and my son in the back seat playing on his tablet. But once they opened the hood of my vehicle nothing but cursing and talking about how I take care of my car! They dont work as a team my kids basketball team could show them how to work as a team! Not to mention that they all just sat around doing nothing for like 15mins something that takes 20-30mins ended up being like 50mins-1 hour! Also my daughter wanted her oil changed before leaving Iowa State. But I dont know who snapped and yelled at her but I will say this. No one disrespects my daughter or son!! If I was regional manager f#$% that if I was leader I would fire the regional manager and manager right there!! I was out right upset and mad and to this day still am I have a 18 year old daughter shouldnt be calling her dad and work about what happened at jiffy lube. I have a 13 year old son. From all the cursing I heard and what my son heard was really hard to stay and shut my mouth. I will be contacting upper office to see what will happen because this right here everything you learn is from higher up to regional managers and managers. Obviously they aren't training there staff right. Sad to say I feel like they hustle everyone and are very lazy team! I heard they just stood around doing nothing. I will always give the benefit of the doubt but everyone was right about them!! I will be letting everyone know about my experience on each social platform. Nothing like all this should be happening. Either fire the people that do that (meaning I'm guessing all of them if not most of them) being on there phones and talking crap about customers.. I've never been to any other Jiffy Lube before this time, because of rumors and such. But the prices are comparable to most places and it only takes ten minutes. You can see everything they do, so I think this place is legit. I usually go to my dealership so that way everything is better maintained under warranty and they check everything. But I definitely pay more at the dealership and have to sit and wait for at least an hour. read more

On September 16th, 2016 I called ahead to this Jiffy Lube to make sure they could accommodate a large vehicle and I was told that they could so I made my way over to them for an oil change. As I was paying for the services, a young man who hopped into my truck to pull it out of their bay and wrecked my truck as he was pulling out by hitting a concrete pillar. Upon inspection of the damage, the young man very plainly stated that this was not the first time they have done something like this which obviously was not a consolation to me and my $70,000.00 truck. This Jiffy Lube did $3300.00 worth of body damage to my truck and it was like pulling teeth with the owner to get them to own up to and repair the damage. Finally, the owner agreed to get his insurance company involved and I was able to get the damage repaired. I had to miss work four times to get the damage repaired though and in the end, the owner's insurance company Pekin Insurance did not want to settle on the diminished value of my wrecked truck so I was out over $5000.00 on the value of my truck now that it had been wrecked. I hired an independent third party appraiser to compare comps on my vehicle so that a fair and accurate assessment was made on how much my truck lost in value as a result of this wreckage. Needless to say this entire experience has been extremely costly to me and was not settled to my satisfaction and I absolutely cannot recommend this business as anywhere near safe enough to have an oil change. Please choose to do business elsewhere because you will get screwed royally with these people. read more

I was quite impressed with Jiffy Lube and the customer service tech, Jaret. Everything was explained well. We were headed out on a long trip so they looked my car over well to make sure it was ready to go, including a tire rotation. They went above and beyond. I was treated politely and offered a beverage while I waited. I even got a car wash! I will definitely go back again!! read more
