The smell, the poor staffing, bad food, and no 'licensed' care givers continued to get worse. Divine intervention arrived and my sisters condition bumped her up to a level where skilled nursing was necessary. Salinas Memorial transfered her to Eden Valley Care center even farther away from family. The difference was extraordinary. The staff are trained, care giver to patient ratio is above state requirements. There are cleaning staff and laundry staff so that the CNAs are free for patient care. There are LVNs and RNs in house. The food is tasty and a good balance of nutrition, and there are physicians, social services, and specialized services available within a short period of time. No waiting months if the patient needs to be seen. The environment is cheerful and there are caregivers taking pts. outside to the garden or sitting for a visit in with a pt. in the open areas. The young men and women are compassionate, attentive, and response time to a call button is within minutes. Thankfully my sister is now recieving the excellent care she deserves. Having endured the other "assisted living" place in Salinas, which was heart breaking, gave us the comparison and appreciation of what we now have.

Being more like a home environment, Colby (Director) ensured patients' safety, cleanliness and managed the facility very well. After dad was released from Stanford ICU, he stayed at a vent facility-Aberwood Gardens in Saratoga across from Prospect High for a little over a year. He then transferred to Windsor Garden in Salinas and was able to go home occasionally because by then we had a ventilator at home. He then moved to Care Meridian where they only accept private/VA insurance.

It was a very tough decision for my family to move my mom out of her home. We shopped around many…read morefacilities and when we told the lady at Aegis Living in Aptos what we were looking for, she said, "Oh, you don't want an active senior community like this, you want a Board and Care home. You should try Wesley House, they're the best in the county." I'll be forever grateful for that referral. The caring and professional staff at Wesley House cared for our mom through all her trials up until last year when she passed peacefully at age 100. I don't know what we as a family would have done without them. As we dealt with our own problems, we never once doubted that our mom was safe, fed and cared for. We knew she was. She was extremely vocal about it. While she would have preferred to stay at home, she knew we couldn't manage her care and she often said that if she had to be anywhere, she was happy in her pretty room at Wesley and grateful for the care she received. She grew quite fond of the staff, who were ceaselessly patient and loving despite our mom's sometimes challenging behavior. Owner, Janet Leon, is a seasoned professional who was able to make on the spot decisions or recommendations that saved my mom and our family untold grief and problems. She helped us navigate the difficult terrain through end of life and we will be forever grateful to her, as well as the Wesley House staff including our beloved Hilda, Horte, Rosa, et al, and Janet's family who all pitched in on the operation. I don't know how to give a better reference except maybe to say the grounds are pretty and the sun room provided my mom with endless hours of quiet warmth, which she craved. The meals are varied and home-cooked. The tone of the facility is upbeat with familiar routines and festive décor for holidays. The fact that it's an open facility inspired our confidence, we could show up anytime and our mom was always presentable and secure. As far as I'm concerned, these people are saints and I hope they're blessed in turn for their good works.

I was declared vertigo free by this individual however, it cropped up quickly again after my treatment. Fortunately, Lynn became available and I went to her and because of her expertise, many years experience and her excellent training plus the use of camera goggles she got me over this last bout as she always has in the past. Key for me has been the therapist using the goggles with cameras so they can see exactly what the eye movements are and I believe that is key to successful treatment. Cannot say enough about her. She knows her stuff snd she's an excellent practitioner, compassionate, and understanding as well.

We found the staff at Watsonville Post Acute Care to be kind, cheerful and attentive. My husband got competent care, excellent PT and OT therapies. As a Kaiser Patient, we found the networking between the facility and assigned Kaiser Doctor challenging though. The one thing we were disappointed with was the food which wasn't very appetizing. I also found the Director of Nursing, his case manager and the rest of the administrative staff to be present and accessible. Overall, I think this facility was reasonably well run, had pleasant staff and the patients seemed to be happy and well cared for.
