Very unhappy with this office. At my first visit they told me I they accept my insurance and I would have a copay. After that, my insurance would cover 80%. They said they pulled my insurance and talked to someone at my insurance to verify the information. After having 6 visits I get a huge bill in the mail. Turns out my insurance covers almost nothing of my visits and is not contracted with this facility. They also have no record of being contacted by this office. I am now required to pay the full cost of all these visits. I absolutely would not have received treatment at this facility had I known what the out of pocket expense would be. read more

I started PT this Monday for my shoulder at Balance Therapy in Salinas. I cracked my humerus Earlier in the year. After surgery I started PT but wasn't happy with the therapist I was sent to. I'm very happy with this Gentleman Adam in the Salinas facility. It's the first time I could sleep through the night. I had full knee replacement surgery 6 weeks ago and the surgeon told me that the most important part of my recovery was the physical therapy. The Dr. referred me to Balance Physical Therapy for my PT. I scheduled PT for 3x per week for 5 weeks through their super friendly and accommodating front office staff. The facility in Salinas is spotless clean, the parking is easy and the equipment is top notch. It's quite spacious and I never had to wait for exercise equipment, and Imliked that there was plenty of space between patients. For the treatments there are private rooms where it's 1:1 treatment and consultations with your therapist. I really appreciated the range of motion stretching exercises and massage work being done in a spacious private private room. Devesh was my physical therapist. He was impressively knowledgeable, very likable and customized the rehabilitation plan for me and my knee and how I was doing that day. It therapy wasn't always easy, but he pushed me to do the rehab that I needed to heal properly, And i needed that extra motivation. Devesh is a TRUE PRO. I also appreciated that the owner of Balance Physical Therapy, John F., took time to personally check on me along my journey to get my knee back to 100%. I say without hesitation that John, Devesh, Ben, and everyone else that I met at Balance were caring, friendly and professional. In the end the only thing that truly matters is how well my knee healed, and yesterday my surgeon said I'm healing in the top 5% of all knee replacement surgeries. Being completely honest, I was shocked to find such an amazing place to perform physical therapy in Salinas! Recovering from an ACL, MCL, miniscus operation; I had been performing PT at another establishment for about 3 weeks before I knew I could find better care...enter Balance Physical. Physical balance is much larger inside than it appears, and kept very clean. The one on one availability and attention they give you is what the standard should be. I've been to other places where one person is focusing on two or even three patients, its insane! Bottomline if you're looking for a clean and professional establishment for your PT this is the best in Salinas hands down. They are patient, knowledgable, work with your schedule, and have a vast amount of equipment and tools to maximize your exercise and recovery. I need to qualify my review. I do not get physical therapy here. However, I drive my mom here twice a week and do sit in on her sessions. So, I feel somewhat qualified to write a review for others who may be considering physical therapy. I will admit that I was skeptical - my mom tried physical therapy once before...however, it wasn't a place that she ever wanted to go back to. So, when Balance was recommended for her frozen shoulders, she and I sighed and said we'd give it a shot. So, we are about a month into 2xweek visits and she and I couldn't be any happier with Balance! She is amazed at the difference that Joey (her fantastic PT) is making with her. He is patient, kind, genuinely compassionate and takes immense pride in his work. Not only is he making physical progress with my mom, he makes coming to physical therapy enjoyable for both of us. He takes an interest in his patients, and makes them feel like they are valued, not just as another appointment to get through. First, I should mention that I am my mothers caregiver,and that she is the patient who has been going to Balance since she recovered from a fall last year. I driver her to there and sit in on her therapy. Her therapist (Whitney) is amazing with my mom! She is patient and encouraging with my mom. I was referred by my physician for knee and thigh pain that was believed to be a result of a compressed nerve. This was my first ever experience with PT and I was skeptical about this approach. After the first session my thigh pain was gone and after the third session I was pain free all over. Davesh, my PT has changed my thinking about PT but mostly about how I move in the world.. Be cautious. They will claim that their services only cost a certain amount and make you feel secure in that fact. They then turn around and try to overcharge your insurance. When that fails, they pass the bill onto you. Don't expect that bill to come any time soon though, it will show up a month or two after you are no longer a patient and it will total more than all your visits combined. Seems like a scam if you ask me. Also, service sucked. They talk to you for a ten minutes and then pass you on to a college intern that has no idea what you are supposed to be doing or how many reps you should do. That was the initial reason I stopped going. I will certainly never go again or recommend this place to anyone ever again. read more

I was referred to Balance to try to reduce chronic back pain while hiking. Unfortunately, not only was Balance unsuccessful, but their results were seriously counterproductive. There were two main problems: 1. While most employees were diligent, friendly, and hard-working, not all were. There were several; times when the employee I was supposed to be working with just wandered off, leaving me alone. One day, a therapist working with somebody else looked over and asked "Are you working with anybody?" as I lay there. But he didn't do anything to find her. 2. But more seriously, after several weeks my back was seriously worse after my time with Balance. In the months before Balance, I had done a couple ten-mile hikes. With pain, but was still able to do things. After Balance, I could not go as much as a mile without significant pain. Even after minor surgery, my pain level was far higher than before Balance. (Another attempt at surgery is upcoming). Maybe I'm unlucky or something, but I really came out the loser on this, and my hiking is now limited to short, painful walks. read more

I blew out my shoulder and after reconstructive surgery I needed physical therapy, was always told the physical therapy was the worst part of the surgery. After starting my rehab with Balance I found that not to be true, it was the best part of the surgery, The staff was very professional and very friendly, always felt welcome. Have you been to therapy and just want to go home & curl up instead? I'm writing as a patient's life partner & caregiver (by default.) Balance PT is outstanding! No exaggeration whatsoever. My husband has been to various other PT locations after his stroke (8 years ago.) And I have to admit it was not fun watching what PT specialists did or in some cases didn't do. Least of all not provide quality treatment or not spend the amount of time they would bill for. It was very frustrating. I found Balance by accident. I will NOT take my husband anywhere else but here. He's been their patient for 3 years. His therapy is more for maintaining his working side strong so that I don't hurt myself transferring him. I spent about a year at Balance Physical Therapy. The thing I like the most about Balance is their ability to fluctuate your therapy program with your progress. I never felt like it was routine. My therapist was constantly keeping my body on it's toes to get the most out of my sessions. One day we would work on resistance bands and more exercise the next we would work on massage therapy and more touch therapy. In addition, the staff at Balance is wonderful. I felt 100 percent comfortable with each and every staff member. If my therapist was with another client, I would work with someone else. In the time I was there, I really got to know each and every therapist. I really enjoyed receiving therapy there and working with the staff. Lastly, the in house massage therapist Gina is by far the best massage I have ever received. She is the one and only person (including the massages at well known spas) who has ever gotten me to relax. You can schedule her for private massage without the need of therapy. Instead of heading to the pricey spa, just head into Balance to see Gina. Amazing prices and by far the best massage you will ever receive. I've had some prior PT experiences in other geo areas that had me hesitant to try it again. But, with my Dr's urging as an alternative to surgery I thought I'd try again. This place is great. It's big and clean, with lots of equipment to train with. My therapist, Joseph Melo (Joey) was thorough and attentive in his evaluation of my ankle problems. He took the time to explain everything to me in detail, which made me more comfortable and confident about my recovery. I also didn't have health insurance at the time, so I was paying for the visits all out of pocket. Joey nicely offered to see me once for free during his lunch break, on his own personal time! Great facility, great service, and now my ankles are stronger and ready to support me in all my adventures. I'm so glad I came here. read more

I went on a Monday (10am) immediately following a visit with my surgeon to find the facility, and make an appointment. The first available was Friday am. I gave the front desk my insurance card which was copied and then was given paperwork to fill out and to bring back to my visit. Today, Thursday at 11:30 am I was notified by phone that Balance was not a provider for my insurance and that $ would be due tomorrow to be seen. The young lady who called me only's suggestion is that I call my physician for another referral or start making phone calls to see who was on my plan. So of course I had to do both. Now I have to wait even longer to begin my physical therapy. So I am surprised to read the review of 4-10-13, no one offered to help me. And my insurance is probably the largest company in California. Working in the medical field, my front desk knows almost 90% of the plans we are on and if they don't as a courtesy they call to find out. It would have been nice to have known this a lot earlier. I guess I should be thankful I didn't find out when I got there tomorrow morning. read more

Even on day one, when I first walked in, all of the staff already knew my name (how that happened I am not sure), was that ever impressive, Most of the time I worked with John, but I can tell you from experience that all of the therapists/PT assistants were skilled, knowledgeable, personable, and fun. It was a pleasure to be in an environment that was spacious, clean, upbeat, caring, and dedicated to service- not $$$$$$. The staff tried to maximize my time there by careful monitoring, varying my routines, assessing every appointment. Patient feedback is valued. Last year I hurt my shoulder in an obstacle course race. For 6 months I couldn't lift my hand above my head. In November I started seeing Dr. Farahmand for what was diagnosed as Frozen Shoulder Syndrome. For several weeks I saw them regularly until I regained mobility and was able to begin to strengthen my shoulder again. Now I've got to say that I'm probably a little biased in my review of Balance Physical Therapy because I used to work there, but it's also a professional review of a peer. I have since moved on and started my own clinic, but now that I have the perspective that I have in working for John Farahmand and other employers, he is bar none the best I have had the privilege of working for. Not only does he possess the highest level of knowledge in the Salinas/Monterey Bay area, but he has a very high manual therapy skill set, a committment to personal growth and education, an unbelievable work ethic to help patients recover, and he does it with a humility and great enthusiasm that is infectious and very healthy for someone who is recovering from injury.
