I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this place. The jerk chicken was spicy and delicious. The beef patties were so amazing .

I wish I could eat this every day!! I love Caribbean food and my sister wanted something different for lunch. She found this place in the area where we were heading. She ordered online so we wouldn't have to wait. I suggested the curry chicken. When she came back to the car with the food, we waited no time to taste it. OMG!!! So flavorful, so good!! The curry chicken with cabbage and rice and peas was on point!! The chicken fell off of the bone. And that cabbage!! My God!! We ate like savages while sitting at the red light. Lol!! I think we ate most of the food while in the car. She also ordered a meat pie. That was devoured before we hit the interstate. The food was do delicious that we thought about going back for more later that day!! If you visit the Turkey Leg Hut, right next to it, stop into the Reggae Hut. Get some food and don't forget to order the sweet tea. If you know about the Breakfast Klub, you know the tea is to die for. You will be happy you got it!! read more

Reggae Hut - Curry Chicken, Rice & peas, Cabbage - Caribbean Near Me - Houston, Texas

Wow! I've never reviewed Reggae Hut??? I've been coming here maybe once a year for the past 20+ years and always love it! The food is always on point, with a massively filled plate as all Caribbean restaurants do. Excellently flavored as well. The service is good. Order at the counter, sit your arse down and wait for them to cook it up and bring it out. You won't see them again after they bring you the food so if you want/need something else, get up and go ask. The ambiance gives Jamaican diner. They have more tables this year than I'd seen in the past, and the place is never crowded so you can enjoy your dining guests in a pleasant environment without all the loudness you'll get next door at TLH. After eating we always scoot next door to the Caribbean boutique to browse and buy things we don't need, but it's the experience man! 5 STARS ALL DAY!! read more

The food what phenomenal. It was 6 of us. We all ordered something different so that we could all try different dishes. Everything was superb. I would definitely visit again. Service was quick and amazing. read more

Great vibe and friendly staff but there are Mexicans in the back making the food. There was so much thyme stems in the rice it was not edible & the meat was a bucket of grease. Definitely not authentic Caribbean food. Maybe I'm just biased cause I lived in south Fl for many years & have been to the Caribbean but it's not even close. read more

This was my first time trying this spot. I know it's sad bcz I'm from here and been here all my life, but that's nonetheless. From the time we opened the door, everyone was so warm welcoming. The food was beyond amazing! I can't wait to go back ASAP! read more

Was craving some Jamaican food, so I decided to finally give this spot a try. I always go to the competitor (habit), but my friend's swear by this place. I ordered Garlic Shrimp, but went back and forth between that and the Curry Goat. First off, the staff was very pleasant. Both Carl & Maya were friendly and personable. Carl even let me taste test the goat before I left and... geesh! My food was flavorable and portioned well. The staff alone makes me want to come back sooner than later. read more

Reggae Hut - Garlic Shrimp, white rice and veggies. Good flavor, but a little expensive for $28. I'd still order this dish again - Caribbean Near Me - Houston, Texas

A friend suggested this place and since I haven't try Jamaican food before, I decided to give it a try. Found out this place have been here for 20 years so it must be good. Quite interesting taste. We got the curry chicken and since I ate Indian food with lots of curry in it. This was a bit less tasty but this is Jamaican so of course it shouldn't taste the same as Indian food. We also try the brown stew chicken which I like it better than the curry. I was so tempting to try the jerk chicken but the lady told me that it's very spicy so I was afraid to try lol. We also ordered beef patties and chicken patties but they gave us the veggie patties instead of chicken. Which was ok. One thing for sure is the chef is extremely generous on his portion. When we saw the plates, we were wow with it. There are parking in the back of the restaurant so we didn't have any problem. But we noticed that we were the only ones eating in the restaurant. Lots of people order to go. Our server is very friendly. The young gentleman who took the order and serve. read more

Delicious! I had the jerk chicken , vegetable melody, and rice with peas. I also order the plantains. One word delicious. Customer service was on point also. I received a call the next day from Avery asking about my experience and asked his was the food. I thought this was very thoughtful and a nice touch from this establishment. Don't second guess go there!!! I can't wait to return. Would post a picture of the plate but it's gone. lol DELICIOUS!!!! read more

Stopped by to pick up dinner and got the Jerk chicken, plantains and a beef patty. The jerk was sauced instead of dry and I really liked the sauce on the chicken. Was also well cooked. Plantains had a nice sweetness too it and beef patty was solid. Service was quick and I didn't have any issues. The price was a little more expensive then other Caribbean spots, but I had a good experience. read more

Reggae Hut - Jerk Chicken Beef Patties, Plantains - Caribbean Near Me - Houston, Texas

Excellent Jamaican food! The beef Patties are so good. It's been a while since I found a restaurant that makes authentic Patties! We had the brown chicken stew - Soo flavorful. Also had the curry goat. Delicious. Will definitely have this as a must stop next time I'm in the area. read more

Recently visited. I thought the staff was really pleasant. I came with somebody who was unsure and she made recommendations and even offered a beef patty on the house! The vibes are great. I got the brown stew chicken and I thought the consistency was a little thicker than usual, and not as flavorful as I was expecting. The jerk chicken had that grill flavor you look for and the spice was there. The cabbage and corn was not good. The portions are big, and it's reasonably priced. read more

Reggae Hut - Brown Stew Chicken - Caribbean Near Me - Houston, Texas

Reggae Hunt is one of my go-to Caribbean spots in Houston. It is pretty bare bones inside but it is a great vibe from the minute you step inside. The staff is friendly and polite which just enhances the experience. The food is very tasty and they give large portions so I always have leftovers. this place is great if you want some really good Caribbean food with no frills. read more

My boyfriend got me Jamaican food for the first time in April of last year. He got me the jerk chicken and rice and peas (red beans). We went to Houston again last week and I begged him to find this same place again. Omg it's that good! The chicken is seasoned great and I don't even like bone in chicken. I wish I didn't get the cabbage or whatever because I don't eat that but everything else was delicious! read more

***Update**** I couldn't remember why I hadn't been here in a while but I soon figured it out. I ordered the jerk chicken and asked if its dark meat. I was told it's mixed with both. I received a plate of dried-out dark meat, overcooked veggies, and rice& peas. This is why I stop coming here this is ridiculous and a waste of money and my time. I asked for the manager and they told me a child playing in the front is the manager. She was very polite when I asked for a refund. read more

Reggae Hut - Caribbean Near Me - Houston, Texas

I ordered curry goat and jerk chicken salad. Both were very flavorful. Glad I got my order in around 5:30 before dinner crowd piled in.

Checked out Reggae hut while visiting Houston for takeout. The food and service were excellent. They even called the next day to see what we thought of the food. Needless to say, that just doesn't happen by businesses. Definitely will hit this place again when in the area. read more

If you know real Jamaican food and oxtails you know this isn't good. The rice and peas were bland my oxtail gravy was watery the flavor was not good and my cabbage was under cooked. I'm disappointed. It was cute inside and they were nice but I do NOT recommend their food. Beef patty was watery inside as well. Don't have a picture of the beef patty I took a bite of that first before my food came out and threw it away read more

I've tried many good carribean restaurants in Houston and this is definitely my favorite!! Everything on the menu is authentic, always hot,and flavorful. The service is definitely another reason why you should come, it feels like your at home when your here. The only con which is not really the restaurants fault but when it's a busy part of the day the parking can be a bit of a hassle but it's definitely work it. read more

Met up at the Reggae Hut for our monthly book club meeting. It was my first time patronizing the establishment. The service was great, the food was delicious, the portion sizes were epic and the prices were very reasonable. My only complaint is the parking. The businesses in that complex really need to look at a solution for the parking. read more

Im impressed! I come from a carribean family and this food is darn good. Lots of gravey and flavorful peas and rice. Now the Sweet tea however is not good. It taste like they stretched the brewed tea with lots of water and added alot of sugar. Taste like STRAIGHT sugar water. Please improve this. You guys have a great restaurant other than that. read more

This was by far some of the worst yard food I've ever had. The jerk chicken was practically floating in some kind of soup looking liquid. The rice was dry as cardboard. The only edible thing was the veggies and coco bread. Almost $60 for 2 jerk chicken plates that we couldn't even eat. No self respecting Jamaican would ever recommend this place. read more

I ordered online and was totally disappointed to say the least. It's been over 18 years since my last visit to the Reggae Hut. I wanted to share this experience with my son. The only thing that didn't make it to the trash was the bread. The curry chicken was pink. The rice and peas were dry, sweet, and salty. It seemed as though someone tried to doctor up leftovers. The plantains were burnt. Almost $40.00 in the trash...literally! Additionally, I would like to add that the parking lot is the back was near a trash bin that smelled atrocious. The experience started poorly and ended that way. The thing I have now is nostalgia of the old Reggae Hut. read more

The price gouging is real. A plate of oxtails in most other places (even out of state) runs around $20-$25 right now, but it's $43 here. Cool--I decided to try the jerk chicken with rice and peas and plantains since I wasn't going to pay $43 for some cow tails...The rice was soggy, y'all! And they forgot to put my plantains in the bag. read more

47 dollars for one oxtail entree is ridiculous. No thank you! Houston has to step it up when it comes to authentic Jamaican food.

We got a goat curry, brown stew chicken, and one beef patty. Everything was pretty good but the goat curry needed a little bit of heat (or maybe a lot of heat) since it was decidedly mild. I haven't tried that kind of chicken stew before but I liked it. Kinda sweet. Also, the service was really fast. read more

Everything was amazing! The customer service was impeccable and I'll definitely be back. The ladies gave me a sample of the oxtails and I immediately was ready to order it. Given the location, it's pretty evident that the parking situation would not be ideal. Due to not being able to find parking in the front/back/or side, one of the workers brought of the order to my car. And that's what I call 10/10 customer service!! The jerk chicken had a little kick and was packed with flavor!! However, my bf and I think the chicken was just a tiny bit too dry. The pink potato salad was also left untouched after a trial bite. The beef patty was my favorite. I could eat 10 of them for a meal!! Must try the beef patty!! read more

Reggae Hut - pink potato salad w/ jerk chicken. beef patty on the top right - Caribbean Near Me - Houston, Texas

I frequent this spot, and will definitely continue coming back! I could kick myself for waiting so long to write a review of my experiences thus far, but overall the Reggae Hut a MUST for anyone visiting the city, or if you live here and have never gone (shame on you)! The food is authentic and mouthwateringly delicious. Hands down, one of the best Caribbean restaurant in the area. On top of that, the customer service is always warm and welcoming, and anytime there's been an extended time on my order, they've always let me know in advance, so I'm not left wondering when my stomach will stop rumbling. I usually get the jerk shrimp or the coveted oxtails, but honestly anything on their menu is appetizing, and will leave you wanting more. I also HIGHLY recommend you try their house-made ginger beer. They've perfected the flavor and it will def satisfy your taste-buds. read more

Really good. I would come again. Family style service. A lot of pride in operation. My friend ordered the curry goat and I had the spicy chicken with a side of plantains. Each entree comes with rice and a vegetable. The food we had was fresh and very pleasing. This establishment had lot of foot traffic indicating to me it was a good place to visit for a meal. There was a red "Yelp" sticker affixed to the glass at entrance. Also another sign this was the place to be. It was. To order, place your order at the counter for dine in service or out inside or to go "takeout". We sat and dined outside on the patio tables spaced apart outside. The staff wore masks and it was required for the customer as well. Interiors are colorful. There seemed to be a lot of repeat business. The place was hopping. Street parking is available but may be hard to come by as the adjacent food establishment (a 1/4 block away) serving turkey legs has a line out the sidewalk. Parking Tip: If street parking is tight, you can easily park on a side street in a more serene neighborhood. We parked right in front of the restaurant. Bingo! It was like winning the lottery. There is a bit of a step up to the sidewalk. So if you are wearing flip flops, take notice. read more

I ordered food for my work place and they got my order wrong. My coworkers were very distraught when they realized that the order was wrong. I can forgive human error, we all make mistakes, but someone knowingly put the price of an oxtail plate at $42.00. I like to support minority businesses, but I can't support a place that would out-price the community it built its name on. read more
