I had an amazing experience with Frenchie's restaurant in Houston--even though I didn't dine in person. I ordered through DoorDash while staying at a hotel, and I was genuinely impressed that everything arrived still hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The food was cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous without being overpriced. I ordered the chicken along with sides of red beans and rice, collard greens, and a roll, and every single item exceeded expectations. The flavors were rich, comforting, and clearly made with care. What stood out most was how well the quality held up through delivery. Even after transport, nothing felt soggy or lacking it tasted like it had just come straight out of the kitchen. This recommendation originally came from Beyoncé, a Houston native, and I can honestly say it did not disappoint at all. Whenever I'm back in Houston, I will absolutely be ordering from them again or hopefully visiting in person next time.

Passing through downtown Houston near the University of Houston, the smell of Frenchy's Chicken literally invaded my car -- so I had no choice but to stop. The drive-thru was packed, so I parked, ordered online through their website, and went inside to pick it up. The line inside was just as long as the drive-thru, but they have a pickup window just outside the dining area for online orders, which made things easy. I went with the chicken tenders, dirty rice, and a strawberry Fanta. You really can't go wrong with Frenchy's. The food has been consistently good since way back when I was in middle school. Even though this location moved a block from where it originally was, that Louisiana Cajun flavor hasn't changed one bit -- and clearly neither has the demand, judging by the nonstop lines. Funny side note: I was on a call with a friend who moved from Houston to the U.K. decades ago, and when I showed him my meal, it literally brought a tear to his eye. That's the power of Frenchy's.

I should avoid this place at all cost. Every time I'm in town I am drawn to visit despite my better judgment. This is my favorite chicken spot in the Houston and Austin area. It's been hot, can't always say fast, but lately the service times have improved, too. If you see chicken bones flying out the window because I can't hold off eating the chicken that is likely me.

I had a craving for some fried chicken! I am so happy that they started securing the packaging as I ordered from a delivery service. I cannot attest to the actual location due to the delivery. I love when my drumsticks are small and they actually gave me more pieces than I ordered. I think this will be my new location to order from!

Four piece with dirty rice in a row and a jalapeño. Strawberry soda, hot sauce and ketchup. OMG so good.

This is not the Frenchies I went to, but I want to let it be known. There's a new franchise on telephone Road and Park Place in the gas station. It is very good. Excellent highly recommend telephone road in Park Place. It's in a gas station

I heard a lot about this p lace, but they must have been in a slump when I visited. The chicken was tasty, but overpriced. The staff didn't seem like they were in a good mood.

Overrated chicken spot. The staff appeared unhappy and wasn't welcoming. It's almost as if they're mad you're there. The chicken is mediocre and the greens left me second guessing my choices. The fries were really good though! There was plenty of dining room and they're cashless so make sure you have a card.

First time visiting this location literally across the street from U of H. My first impressions are that it does robust to go business via drive thru. We wanted the full experience so we dined in. It is a walk up counter and there is a kiosk to place your order. The attendant is very quick to get your order and very knowledgeable about the menu. She asked me what chicken I preferred on my campus combo. I didn't know you get a choice and this was very generous and thoughtful of her to ask. I knew we were here for the chicken and some other goodies I know they do well! I had red beans and rice as my side with the 2 jalapeno peppers, sweet cornbread, and added boudin egg rolls and didn't want to pass up the peach cobbler. I love their chicken here because it is unique with a light coating of fried breading that is seasoned very well. I am sure the ingredients are a secret lol. The food took a while to come out and it was pretty busy at lunch. The interior dining space is small and there is plenty of outdoor seating. Frenchy's is a must visit Houston institution for some southern fried chicken! I totally recommend making a visit out here for some great comfort food.

A friend suggested that I try this fried chicken since I was new to the Houston area. I went through the drive thru and 2 lanes were in operation and I still waited 30 minutes The lines were long. The attendant, I forgot the name, was very stellar and talked that location up so well. Very cheerful. The chicken was very flavorful and tasty. It has to be in the top two of the best fried chicken I've ever had. The crunch was top tier. It was fresh and the temp was still hot. The dirty rice wasn't dirty enough for me and it was dry and bland. The cornbread was a choking hazard. It was very dry as well. If I ever went again, it would be for the chicken only.

I haven't been to the new location of Frenchy's in 3rd Ward. It is a very nice spot and spacious area inside. Frenchy's is one of the only restaurants that have good greens and cornbread, they both don't have sugar which no sugar is the best flavor for me. The fried chicken is tasteful not to salty but good seasoned. The wings are kind of small but they tasted good.

The place was like walking into the 50's, with the old school metal tables and ample linoleum. I LOVE Louisiana cooking, and it couldn't have been more authentic. The only problem I had with my shrimp gumbo is the bowl was too small (actually a filling portion) and loaded with succulent, tender shrimp. Yummmmm! The cornbread was sublime and dipping it in the gumbo was killer! John had a Po Boy and said it was heavenly. The fries were obviously fresh cut and perfect. We finished with the bread pudding as we are both connoisseurs, and boy did it not disappoint. Thank You for yet another 5 star experience and a return visit will be on the horizon! Cheers, JimG

The Pasta Rosa dish had sliced Parmesan strips on top of penne with shrimp, crawfish and sausage for the protein with mushrooms and a tomato cream sauce. This meal initially tricked me. My first impression was that while there was plenty of protein the taste of the tomato cream sauce was lacking some flavor. I expected more. However as I kept eating and getting beyond the top layer of the food the flavor increased significantly. I think that the proteins caused the sauce in the lower half of the dish to create more punch. This dish got better and better and I changed my mind.
