The food is delicious - I've been 6 times for sure, maybe more. This is one of the places I bring people who are visiting Houston or have never had Jamaican food. On this particular visit, I got the jerk shrimp, very spicy but delicious. My dad got the goat curry and he really liked it. The cabbage/vegetables are always seasoned so well. The entire plate is good. The atmosphere makes me feel like I'm in Jamaica. I've met the owner on a few of my visits, seems like a great person who values customer service. read more

I have always loved the beef patties at Reggae Hut Café, which is why this experience was so disappointing. The patties just don't taste the same anymore it was very dry and not freshly made. The filling now tastes more like regular ground beef instead of the flavorful, well-seasoned Caribbean-style beef patty I remember and enjoyed. The price has also increased to $5.50, while the amount of meat inside the patty has noticeably decreased. As you can see from the photos, there is a lot of crust with very little filling. I understand that prices go up, but when the price increases, I expect the quality and portion to at least remain the same or increase. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Although I have loved these patties for years, based on the change in flavor, smaller amount of filling, and higher price, I will not be returning. read more

Came here craving curry chicken and it didn't disappoint. There is ample seating when you walk in, the place was empty for us. We ordered at the register using ( Inkind ) iykyk. I ordered the curry chicken with plantain & rice. My niece ordered the oxtails with rice & peas. The meal came out to almost $50 for two including the soda. There was a bit of a wait for my plantains she told us beforehand but I was almost done by the time I got them. The portions are big and the curry chicken was good. I would definitely order from here again. read more

Reggae Hut was legit. Jerk chicken had the perfect amount of spice and flavor, plantains were seasoned perfectly and fried golden, and the rice and peas were packed with flavor without being mushy. The meat patty was fresh, moist, and really good too. My family is from Latin America, so we're familiar with Caribbean food, and this spot absolutely delivered. Highly recommend. read more

First time. Jerk chicken is excellent. Service was very friendly and hospitable. Ox tail is good too. Quiet and clean. Was given samples of the different flavors before we ordered. Great lil hole in the wall. Try the homemade rum punch. read more

Drawn here because of its partnership with inKind, I was extremely disappointed when the app encountered some issues, so I wasn't able to use my points to pay for my order. The woman taking my order (sorry, I didn't catch her name) was gracious about changing my order after we realized the inKind app wasn't working. I opted for the jerk chicken, plaintains, and (Caribbean) potato salad, which was a first for me! The woman let me know ahead of time that the potato salad had a pink coloring due to the beets used in it; I'm glad she told me, atherwise the color would've taken my by surprise. I could barely taste the beets, but the relish and mayo were great combos. The rice was super fluffy, though the chicken was a bit bony and not as plentfiul as I am accustomed to when ordering from other Jamaican establishments. I dined in so was able to see the in and out traffic; it appears that they have steady customers, which is always a good sign! The overall vibe is super casual. read more

Great food and generous portions! I got the goat curry, and not only was it tender and flavorful, but there was a ton of food on the plate. It came with rice and steamed vegetables and was absolutely delicious. I was able to split this plate into 3 different meals, so you really get a bang for your buck here. The staff was also really friendly, and the service was fast. My only note is about the parking situation. There is a very limited lot in the back of the building, and because the strip has multiple businesses, a spot can be hard to get. If the lot is full, there is street parking in the neighborhood behind. I definitely want to come back to try the oxtails. read more

Carl is a top notch professional! This was my first time here. I saw a flyer from my breakfast Klub order. I had no idea they were sister companies. Carl understands client relations! He is very personable and made some great menu suggestions! Food: I got the jerk chicken with oxtail sauce. It was different but good! I typically like my jerk chicken with skin on it. This one was skinless. The oxtail sauce was great! I'll definitely comeback and try the oxtails. The rice and peas were good too. Last the carrot cake was real good. Solid 5 stars. Carl is the best. I'll definitely be back soon! I must try them oxtails. read more

Soooo good y'all! This was my first time trying Jamaican food and I'm glad that it was at Reggae Hut. The lady at the front let us try samples of their different curries and stews which was so sweet! It definitely helped us narrow down our decision and expose us to new flavors. We ordered the curry chicken and brown stew snapper. Their curry is honestly some of the best I've ever tried from any cuisine. Nice kick and incredible flavor and spices. I cleaned my plate thoroughly. The rice and veggies were solid. I loved their vibrant potato salad. The brown stew snapper was a tad bit salty and the portion was humongous... But the flavors were great as well. I think the brown stew pairs better with chicken when I tried it as a sample. The snapper was a bit dry in my opinion. Overall, a great first impression of Jamaican food and I must come back whenever I'm in the area! read more

I ordered two large curry goats with rice, peas, and cabbage. It was outstanding. The meat was so soft, falling off the bone, and very flavorful. I thought plantains automatically came with the order, but they didn't. You have to order plantains separately. They are $4.95 for 8, and we ended up getting 10. So that was a nice surprise since it's unusual not to get plantains in the meal. But back to the food, everything was so delicious. There were even potatoes in the goat gravy. And, little nibbles of corn on the cob in the cabbage, which also came with broccoli and carrots. The vegetables were so soft and felt good going down. I also ordered some homemade lemonade which was a little on the sweet side but still very, very good. We parked in a small parking lot on the backside of the store. It's small inside, so we decided to park close by and enjoy our food in the car. read more

So I called in a jerk shrimp salad with extra ranch on side. Especially with the amount of food they serve here, I just knew I needed more. This was around 11am! Yes I wanted jerk in the morning. I'm not a big breakfast food eater. That salad was delicious! Then it was topped with grilled onions and peppers!!! I'm not sure but that ranch tastes home made! But this salad consists of cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, carrots, lettuce and jerk shrimp of course... read more

A classic Jamaican spot in the third ward area. I've been going here since I was a little girl and they've been pretty consistent. On majority visits I always get the brown stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. The sauce is thick, flavorful and has a subtle sweetness. There are some carrots and potatoes in the stew as well. I love the rice and peas as it's moist and you can taste the coconut as well as the fresh herbs in it. The cabbage is also good, sometimes it can use some salt but the flavor is there. I can never not come here and get a beef patty or chicken patty. I love them both and I always get a side of jerk sauce to dip it in. Great ambiance and vibes inside!! read more

I had family visiting Houston and they wanted to try different foods. None of us have had too much experience with Caribbean food so we decided to order Reggae Hut. Pick up was easy, employees were super nice. We got: - the oxtails (10/10...soo tender, fatty and flavorful) -curry chicken (10/10, fall off the bone meat with the perfect amount of spice) -jerk chicken (7/10, loved the kick it had, the savoriness...chicken was a little dry) -the rice and peas, veggies, and potato salad balanced out the saltiness of the entrees well -beef patties had a delicious flaky crust I will be craving the oxtails. Will most likely order again soon read more

This is my second time getting takeout. My first takeout of goat curry with vegetable medley and rice was ok, came with an acceptable amount of meat curry so I thought to myself that was a good meal and I would go back. But this time, the quality and value of it was not consistent. Still tastes decent but absolutely Overpriced. Got the a la carte shrimp dish and the goat curry. How is this a $40 takeout? And the goat curry is mostly bones this time. The pictures are taken before a single bite was eaten. read more

First here. Parking for the restaurant is in the rear of the building. I placed an order online and it was ready upon arrival. I like the promptness and timeliness. I ordered the curry got and I love that they give a decent amount of curry goat which has big chunks. Most places skimp on goat and gives smaller bites but I appreciate the portion size. I did order double rice & peas. Ambiance wise, typical Caribbean restaurant vibes; nothing fancy just casual spot to eat and hangout with friends. read more

Amazing authentic Jamaican food. Service was fast and friendly, food was flavorful. This is a must visit everytime we are in Houston.

I think this is the best Jamaican resturant in houston. And if you look on other places I probably have a review on it but I have only tried ones on doordash. The oxtails have the best depth of flavor I've had in houston. Now they are pricey at about $40 for the entree and I only got 4 pieces. However they were very big and full of meat. They could be a bit more tender but overall very tasty. I think I would be very happy if they gave about 7 pieces. I also got a chicken and beef patty.. the chicken was more my jam than the beef. I wish the beef was a bit more flavorful or spicy. They were very fresh and maybe homemade? I can never tell The plantains were also very good. I haven't tried the carrot cake yet but it looks moist and tasty. I would maybe come back when a craving is really bad (like today) but for the price I think I would make them myself so I can have more than one serving read more

Food was amazing I got oxtails ,..I know I know expensive(45$) but they were good nonetheless I would go back again but try something else this time. The veggies were nice and soft and steamed the rice and peas was so good I had to order extra to go! Oxtails.. it was 3 big ass ones which I guess would be more meat than 6 -8 small ones so I kind of see why it was so expensive there's a lot that goes into cooking those things so I'll always Esther to just pay but that's just me haha we tore that food up didn't even get a pic read more

Came here to eat dinner after arriving in Houston for the night. Had not been to this tea in years since attending The Texas Southern University. This has been a staple in the community since 1997 and always proves a delicious treat. My wife, two daughters and I came together. You order at the register and they will bring the food to your table (open seating). The portions are quite LARGE, so come with an appetite or share. We all had a beef patty to start and almost ordered more. Very flaky crust with a great amount of well seasoned filling. My wife and I shared the Stewed Chicken plate. Comes with Chicken (dark and white meat),rice and beans, and cabbage. My daughters shared the Jerk Chicken that comes with the same sides. Plantains have to be requested as they have a lot wasted as many do not eat it. The chicken on both plates was well seasoned and tender, the rice and beans were moist and delicious, that cabbage (Man!) is the truth. Only my wife makes it better. Me and my wife had a Rum Punch ( comes bottled) . The rum punch is not lacking rum ( just a bit too sweet for me). My oldest had lemonade (bottled as well). She loved it. Of Note: they provide same tastings if you don't know what you want. If you are ever in Houston and want great Jamaican Food this is a must. Was so hungry I forgot to take a picture . read more

The vibes in this restaurant is immaculate. I immediately felt like I was transported back home to the island. The servers were friendly and attentive. Originally, I came to order the oxtail, but after seeing the $50 price tag, I had to settle for the jerk chicken. My order was one beef Patty, jerk chicken plate, and lemonade for $30.... Ok cool, this is definitely more of a $20 meal but "inflation" or whatever. The food was very delicious and well packaged for it to be to-go. The jerk chicken was not swimming in sauce like other comments stated and the rice & peas wasn't mushy. Maybe they came on a bad day. I think all of the food was delicious and filling and VERY authentic. I would definitely drive back here from Pearland. 10/10 read more

Feels like my little spot in Jamaica. I don't know how it usually is but the A/C seemed to be off when we visited. But it's something about eating some jerk chicken in the heat, brings me back to the island so I actually didn't mind lol. Music jamming, folks eating and enjoying. Great vibes. But no really, walk in and order at the front. We got the jerk chicken plate with steamed veggies and rice n peas and the brown stew chicken plate. You have to order plantain on the side which was new for me BUT at least the order is large. Fried plantain just completes me and I must have it so I'm happy it's plentiful. Jerk chicken had great flavor, beautiful kick. They have Matouk's to add more heat. My man liked the brown stew. Rice n peas are fire, and oooo do not forget to eat that corn. Sop it in the jerk seasoning and let it get to the cob, so good. Definitely plan to come back and try a few more things in the menu. Other notes: . Oxtail is market price: currently at $46 an order. . Beef patties only come in orders of 3 or 6 . They have sorrel read more

All the yums! I was craving Jamaican food (oxtails in particular) so we took to Yelp to search the area, honed in on Reggae Hut, and made our way over! There was a bit of a line, but it moved rather quickly. The ordering process was easy peasy, and the food was delish! I enjoyed my oxtails, hubs' jerk chicken was ok, and the beef patties were great. I truly wish they had the commercially bottled ginger beer (like they have the Ting available for purchase) as their homemade bottle that I purchased was far too sweet, missed the mark with minimal amounts of ginger present. I could only handle one sip, and truly missed that on this food trip. :( Their bottled tea was much better. All things considered, I'd definitely return for oxtails and a beef patty whenever I'm in the mood. Cheers! read more

We wanted some Jamaican food so we stopped by Reggae Hut on a VERY hot Saturday. It wasn't crowded when we got there so we were able to order right away. We got the fish, rice and plantain to share because it was a really huge serving. We tried sitting outside but it was way too hot so we moved inside. Our food came out quick but they forgot the plantain and the serving size of it was super small. The service was decent too, definitely better than other JA restaurants I've been too. read more
