Christine at Regency Tailors did an amazing job on the alterations for my wedding dress! I chose a large ball gown style dress that I'm sure even the hem, let alone all of the other alterations were a big challenge! We had multiple fittings and at each fitting she took the time not only to explain what she was doing and how that would alter the dress but also to give me tips on how to walk in the dress, what sort of shoes were best, how to get into the dress without messing up your hair etc. She also created a fantastic bustle that made dancing at the reception so much easier and even walked my bridesmaids through the process of how to do it. :) I really appreciated that Christine took the time to help with all of those little details! In addition she also includes the pressing of the dress in her services so it was really nice not to have to go somewhere else for that! I felt beautiful on my wedding day thanks to Christine! She is the first tailor i've ever worked with and her work is impeccable. Simple. No non-sense. Done right the first time. These are very basic concepts that I want, and expect, of any well performing business. I've used Regency 3 times in the past year. Twice, I was fitted: once for a tuxedo and once for a suit. My third visit was tailoring for a suit. My measurements were taken correctly both time. My suit was properly altered to fit by ever changing (oh fine expanding) mid section and obviously one-longer-than-the-other arms. The lady who owns (I assume) and runs the business is focused, professional, and pleasant. She's a non-nonsense kind of lady (and therefore obviously one for my heart) who calls lit like it is; if those pants are looking a little snug, she'll let you know. You could drive right by this place a hundred times and never know it's there, but obviously half of Lakewood PD doesn't do that as her ready racks are filled with police uniforms. I always consider law enforcement presence something of a silent nod of approval for a business as well. Police don't like shoddy work or suspect establishments. Prices are comparable to other tailors I've used and service is provided in a timely fashion. Watch out for the step up (going in) or down (exiting); it'll get you every time, even when she tells you to watch your step! read more

I had a suit tailored here and was told it would take one week to make a simple alteration. I told them that was fine because I needed it in exactly one week anyway. Saturday rolls around (the day they said it would be ready) and I still had not received a call. I called around 1:30 PM to check on the status only to find out that they close at 1:00 on Saturdays. When I came in the following week to get my suit (which I could no longer use for the event I needed it for), I explained to them that I was frustrated they had not called. Rather than explaining that they do not call when items are ready and apologizing for the trouble, the owner (I think she was the owner) got very defensive and blamed me for not checking the website to know their hours. I have to accept some responsibility for not knowing their hours. I don't like how few hours they are open, but that's their choice I suppose. What really bothers me is that they can't take the time to call customers when their articles are ready (she said "I would be on the phone all day if I did that") and didn't even show the common courtesy to apologize that I did not have my suit for the event I needed it for. Very poor customer service. I will not be returning to this shop and I recommend that you look elsewhere for a tailor. read more

I'm so glad I found Christine here to alter my wedding dress! I had kind of an odd situation because I was on an international tour for the months leading up to my wedding AND Denver was a destination wedding for us, and she really worked around my schedule to get me in fittings. She had to take in the waist a second time shortly before my wedding because I had lost weight on my tour, but did it in no time. She was always fun and pleasant to see and I looked forward to each fitting (I had three and then got to put it on right before the wedding to make sure it did fit, which it did perfectly!) It needed a LOT of work from her because of my body shape and she did it with joy and reasonable prices. I highly recommend taking her your precious gowns (or even old pants you just need fixed) - you'll feel the right amount of attention and you'll be calm and peaceful knowing you're in her hands! read more

This place more than disappointed me -- it actually made me pretty angry. Regency has 3 major problems: They are disorganized, they are tremendously overpriced, and they are SLOW. I brought in two shirts for some very basic alterations - take in the sides on one, dart and hem on one of them. I've been to many tailors in my life, and these are fairly simple operations that take an hour or less or thereabouts, usually. I've had tailors return shirts after darting within a few hours, some within a couple days. They told me it would be a 3 weeks due to wedding season (AFTER they had pinned -- which I think is information that should be shared beforehand, because that is a truly absurd wait. they gave the excuse of it being wedding season, but come on. You can't manage your time well enough to fit in a 30 min job within a week?) this should have tipped me off and prompted me to ask about the price but unfortunately, we had already pinned so at that point I consented and left them to their work, feeling like if it takes 3 weeks it can't be too much. Regency took 3 AND A HALF WEEKS to get two shirts darted and hemmed, and I had to call them 2 days past the day they told me it would be ready to inquire, at which time they said it would not be finished for another couple days. I was leaving on a business trip the next day, so I had to forego picking up for another 10 days or so. 3.5 weeks was the time for them to finish, and they overpromised on the date. seriously, ridiculous. When I went to pick them up, the cost was 55 dollars, which is at least twice what i've ever paid in my life for simple hemming/darting. so beyond the absurd slowness, that was an unpleasant shock. The work is ok, but nothing especially quality, just what you would expect (though one shirt came back with an oil stain on the side of it... if that doesn't wash out we will have a problem). So i'm shocked by the price and a little irritated by how long it took, and hesitated when I heard 55 dollars, blurting out in surprise: "wow, that's more than I've ever paid in my life for tailoring... that exceeds the cost of both shirts, actually". This comment is obviously not to suggest they should prive according to the garment, but rather to highlight just exactly how much is being charged here. And to the disorganization, we walked in in the middle of a day on a sunday, door open, and were met with exasperation because it turns out they are closed. Sorry but expecting customers to check your hours on a little sign is not normal because no one does that -- YOU LOCK YOUR DOOR. Im terribly sorry you forgot to lock your door and had the terrible inconvenience as a business owner of grabbing 2 garments a foot away and running a credit card on a sunday. Final straw, I get a 2 minute lecture/guilt trip about how she has to pay her rent, and her prices already don't allow her to pay her labor fairly, and how she won't work for chinese labor prices, even slipping in that "the younger generation" (i.e. me) don't get how the global economy works, basically. Well, Regency, I fully understand how it all works -- I do have a degree in economics, after all -- but 55 dollars for probably one manhour total of work that took 3.5 weeks to complete and with no upfront disclosure about wait times/costs, sorry, that math does not add up especially when most labor is charged according to the job/complexity -- make your big bucks on wedding dresses, etc. and volume on smaller ticket stuff if you want repeat business. you don't need to be overcharging for hemming like that to keep your lights on -- basically any other tailor is evidence of that. . As they say, fast, cheap, good -- pick two to succeed in a business. I'd say you're barely qualifying on one of those qualities. Lecturing your customers is incredibly unprofessional and obnoxious, especially when you've kept them waiting such a ridiculous amount of time. I have several more shirts and will, i'm sure, have many more in the future But I will not be back, will not recommend these disorganized, slow and arrogant business owners to anyone I know. I needed a new suit for a job interview. The off the rack suits in the store did not fit well. I am tall and if I bought something that was long enough in the arms then it was too big around the middle. Also the hemline was in the wrong place. I bought an off the rack black Jones wear suit. The suit looks fairly inexpensive, maybe around $100. I took the suit to Regency Tailors, and I had a fitting session where the tailor measured and pinned the suit. She adjusted the hemline, custom tailored the jacket to taper the sides and shoulders. The end result is stunning! It looks like a $900 or $1100 custom tailored suit! I receive many complements every time I that wear it. I have several expensive name brand suits, but the suit that I had altered at Regency Tailors looks better than the expensive suits, even though it was a fairly inexpensive suit. It fits better, and looks better, and is now my favorite suit! read more

I've never written a Yelp review, but I felt I had to share my experience so that no one else has to go through the same thing I did. Unprofessional, slow, over priced and poor quality. I work in the service industry so I'm usually very understanding and patient, but I've never been so frustrated with something than I was with my experience here. I took my items to Christine on May 7th (21 weeks ago), and I JUST got my items back. 21 weeks!! She used the excuse of it being wedding season so they were running behind. That's fine. So I asked her to just call me when she had a few items ready and I can pick them up as she goes. I called after two months to get a status and she hadn't even begun working my things! After calling her every week for six weeks straight to finished my alterations she finally finished. I came home and tried them on and EVERY single item was incorrect and I had to take them back to get fixed. Christine admitted to messing them up and didn't even feel the need to apologize. And the pricing!... My goodness. She charged me more per item than I actually paid for the item in the first place. Especially after waiting four months, I couldn't believe Christine had the decency to charge me the amount she did. You'd think she would give me a break after messing up every item and taking as long as she did. Save your time, money, patience, and sanity - go elsewhere! read more

Christine did a great job on my jacket! I has worn out the sleeve cuffs on my jacket. Not wanting to rush out and replace my favorite jacket I brought it over here to get fixed if possible. She was busy like every shop I called but was able to get it fixed with new cuffs and even stiched a couple holes I had and I was as good as new! Quality and workmanship still outweighs slapping things together in the sake of short times and poorer quality. read more

I don't even know where to start to show my gratitude to Christine and her tireless effort to get a dress sold to me that was just TOO small to fit me. Over the course of many months, Christine and I changed this strapless size 4 dress into a beautiful, stunning gown that was, quite literally, Christine's own design. This is a woman who refuses to fail, and who refuses to produce substandard garments. If you're looking for a simple hem, she could do it while she is asleep. If you are altering a wedding gown, be patient, let her work the way she works on her own timeline, she won't let you down. I chose Regency Tailors for my Wedding dress alterations based on the good reviews I found on Yelp. First arriving I started rethinking my choice. Christine the owner was disorganized, frazzled and I could tell she had taken on way to much. As I was getting my wedding dress fitted, which I had made an hour appointment and was supposed to be designated my time, she had two other women in the tiny studio and was fitting them with pants and such. I left feeling like I should maybe go back in there and get my dress and go somewhere else. Looking at the reviews again and how busy she was, I just thought it was me, it will be fine, my dress will come out great. Fast forward a month, I had an appointment for my second wedding dress fitting. I got there and Christine was no where to be found, there was another bride sitting there, her appointment was an hour before mine and it turns out Christine had left her vail at the house and had to run back to get it for her. The bride was clearly annoyed. Upon return she looked at me and asked who I was, looking at her schedule book she was surprised to see my name right in the slot for that day. She goes on to tell me I'm on her schedule but funny thing, she hasn't even touched my dress and on top of that it isn't even at the shop, it was at her house. She tells me I can come back that night at 10 or 11 oclock that night. I had already driven 30 minutes, and left work early to make this appointment. She had my dress for a month and never even touched it. At that point I just asked her to bring it to the shop the next morning, not touch it and let me pick it up. She wasted my time, and would warn all brides to STAY AWAY. She takes on way more then she can handle and is completely unorganized. I don't doubt she could have done great work on my dress, but I was unwilling to leave my dress in her unpredictable hands. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more
