Extremely happy with our meal here and can't wait to come back. The focaccia they give you for the table is so good I could've just made a meal out of that, but we decided to order some food too. For appetizers we had the tuna carpaccio and the zucchini flower special. The tuna was immaculate and not spicy at all. The zucchini flowers I loved, they were filled with a sweet and tangy cheese and lightly fried. For our entrees we had the seafood risotto and the gnocchi. I think I died and went to heaven eating these. The risotto had the perfect texture and the right amount of saffron without being overbearing. The gnocchi was pillowy soft, luxurious to eat and was everything we could have wanted. To finish we went with the almond semifreddo, which was a perfect way to end the meal. Four stars for the cocktails. Two stars for the service. Three stars for the food. All cocktails we ordered were delicious and worth the price tag. For service, the employees seemed a little undertrained. The food was hit or miss. I'd recommend coming in for a drink. The meatballs with polenta were pleasant. I wish I had had a spoon on the table to better enjoy the polenta. I felt the burrata could have included a little more balsamic to balance the richness of the cheese. The tomatoes with the burrata were underripe. The tomatoes seemed to have been treated with sugar or salt or something, as they were weepy but still too firm. The cacio e pepe was disappointing. It had a good richness, but it was too salty and I couldn't taste the pepper. Being that the name of this dish means cheese and pepper, freshly ground pepper, using a somewhat coarse grind would be a good addition. My friend had the sea bass and loved it - it was nice and light and buttery. I'd recommend Bar Roma instead for a similar menu that is better executed. read more

Whether you consider Regalia to be located in Edgewater or Uptown, this is one fine gem of an Italian Restaurant in an unexpected place. It has all the great food, refinement and elegance of a restaurant in Lincoln Park, the Gold Coast or River North, but you'll find it just North of Asia on Argyle. First, the atmosphere is laid back and homely. You won't find any pretense here. Second, the staff is intelligent and knowledge about food and the menu. When ordering, my waiter knew the menu and what dishes would go with each other. Third, the food is excellent. I started off with their homemade focaccia bread. It was hot, soft and yummy. For appetizers, I ordered their mushroom soup, breaded artichokes, arugula with gorgonzola fondu with wine soaked pear and beef carpaccio. Each was refined and delicious. I especially liked the breaded artichokes, which is surprising because I'm not really a fan of artichokes, and the beef carpaccio, which was light yet meaty. For the main course I got the lobster ravioli with shrimp and rigatoni. The ravioli was stuffed with lobster and I was given a lot of shrimp. I also loved the rigatoni. The pasta itself was perfectly al dente. The desserts were amazing. I got the lava cake, tiramisu and Semifreddo di mandorla (not pictured). Any Italian restaurant worth its salt must make an amazing tiramisu, and Regalia makes a great one. The real show and treat was the Semifreddo di mandorla. It featured our waiter pouring flaming chocolate over frozen chocolate mouse (I think). Regardless, it was fun to watch and delicious to eat. My friend moved to Edgewater a few months ago and Regalia is her go-to restaurant with family, friends and guests. This was my second time, and it was enjoyable and memorable! We started with sparkling water while awaiting our drinks, and were provided with focaccia bread with an olive oil & butter spread that was delicious. She had a French martini while I had a draft Great Lakes Christmas Ale ('tis the season, still!). For an appetizer, we had the special Shrimp Amatriciana which were soft and fresh, on a bed of smooth polenta (not dry and gritty as sadly from other places). My friend opted for the Lobster ravioli on special that evening while I chose the Risotto Terra & Mare which was smooth and creamy. The ambience was woody and warm, just missing a fireplace, and music was not loud and a nice mix of 60's through late-70's (Who, Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and even Talking Heads!). Regalia is much like a place one would expect to find downtown (River North, Streeterville, Gold Coast, Old Town) so it is a bonus that it is in Edgewater, closer for those on the north side or North Shore in a more parking-friendly area. read more

Stumbled upon this place when I was in the neighborhood and thought it looked like a good place to check out. I'm glad I did as we really enjoyed our evening dining here. It's a cozy little neighborhood place with a friendly and attentive staff. We enjoyed their background music which sets a nice chill mood. We were impressed with the service - especially during these challenging times. Servers were prompt, attentive and helpful offering suggestions as needed. The host (who we suspect may be the owner) was very welcoming and came over to check on us as well - overall a very friendly team. Regarding the food: The focaccia bread they offer with a white bean puree was a GREAT start - we really enjoyed that. We started with the Tuna Carpaccio which was the bomb! I would come back just for that. Both the menu and the impressive list of specials had many, many good options that it was hard to choose. We ended up with the half roast chicken and the chicken saltimbocca - both of which were really enjoyable and portion sizes were impressive. Only two things that I would suggest which may have improved the overall experience: 1: Entrees were great but the server should have recommended that we order a side of veggies - it would have been a great addition to our meal. 2: The potatoes that came with my dish were "just there" - they didn't really add much to the dish and mine were just kind of dry and blah. We celebrated a family birthday in a small group and had the most amazing dinner. All five of us ordered different main courses and every single one was delicious and well-presented: prime cut, salmon, gnocchi, risotto, and lobster ravioli (special main course of the day). Several of us got also mushroom soup and loved it! Good cocktails, good wine. It was warm and we got a table outside - it was very pleasant. The service was absolutely above and beyond! Our waiter Hugo was always available, checked with us often. Besides him, several other staff members came by, brought bread and water, delivered dishes, and they were all so sweet! When my mother-in-law accidentally dropped her napkin and didn't notice, the waiter quietly picked it up and another staff member brough her a new one, without drawing anyone's attention and trying to score points for service - that was very considerate. This great service distinctly stands out in today's environment when many restaurants are understaffed. And they also brought a delicious complimentary dessert for the birthday person. 4 stars for the food. 2.5 stars for the service (and not for reasons you may suspect). Tl;dr: while I had a great meal, I didn't have a fantastic experience due to feeling rushed throughout my dinner. While I may be a solo diner on a weekend evening, I still expect equal service. To start with the good: - host and servers are very courteous and quick; water refill and check ins were quick - large portions. I ordered the mushroom soup special ($7) (1.5/5; I didn't finish this dish) and the branzino special ($37) (4/5 stars), as well as the tiramisu ($10) (delicious, I recommend) and a glass of white wine ($12/13) (very smooth and paired well with the fish) - food came out hot and rapidly. The complimentary focaccia and white bean & olive oil dip were exceptional. The branzino was hot, a large portion, and the charred cauliflower was a good side, as was the server's wine recommendation. The not so great: - mushroom soup was chunky and really only possessed one-note. While I could taste the mushroom, the texture was extremely offputting. It was a thick soupy mixture of partially blended/chopped mushrooms that needed to be a smaller portion (cup vs bowl) or paired with something starchy (the focaccia was a good pairing). - the service was overwhelming. Within five minutes of entering and being seated, four individuals greeted me. I wasn't sure who my main server was until the check came. This isn't a bad thing, but I was taken aback. - this isn't the place for solo diners until you sit at the bar; I was seated alone at a table. I like to have long meals accompanied with a book and multiple courses. Every time I turned a page and put my fork down while eating, a server came over and would ask if I was done. While I appreciate the attentiveness, I think being perceptive is just as important. I left before finishing because I didn't want to be asked if I am done with my food a fifth time. read more

We had the egg battered artichokes and the beef carpaccio for appetizers. The artichokes were outstanding.... A must try! The focaccia and cannellini bean spread is delicious and addictive! For the main fare we had the Gnocchi Ricotta and the Rigatoni Ragu Alla Rustico. The gnocchi was the best I've ever had....fluffy light texture. And the short rib rigatoni was out of this world. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. Our food was brought out hot and just at the right intervals so we didn't feel rushed. The owner came by a few times to make sure everything was just right. Nice wine selection and creative cocktails. The food portions are more than appropriate. Don't miss out on this neighborhood gem. I hate writing this review. My husband and I loved Income Tax and were really hoping for a great replacement, but Regalia fell flat. Our drinks were good, service was good, and so was the calamari. The ambiance was also great -- they haven't changed much from Income Tax. The shrimp risotto, however, was awful. I threw 90% of it out. Tasted mostly like dishwater for $25 or something like that. Unfortunately, I can't justify coming back but I do hope they improve the food. read more

This place is amazing! Stopped in on a whim, had the Faroe Salmon, and was blown away. The Caesar salad is awesome, a simple and wonderful presentation. The seafood risotto was perfect, with saffron generously used throughout. The Tiramisu is to die for. Great service, excellent staff, and a warm, tasteful ambience. Really happy to see this local place open up in my neighborhood! Not exactly cheap, but it's not out of line, either, considering the quality and nice portions. This was our first time at Regalia, and it was simply amazing. We live in the neighborhood, so we got there very early on a weeknight. The decor is tasteful and the seating comfortable. Everything was perfect - the old fashions, the polpetta and polenta appetizer, house salad, mare mare with fettucine and the lobster ravioli, with a delightful pistachio cheesecake and Vecchio del Capo Amari for dessert. The service was equally outstanding - terrific recommendations. We've decided to make this a regular stop. read more

We had dinner there on Friday night (right after the Fourth of July holiday) and managed to snag a reservation for two 45 minutes before our arrival! The place was bustling, and we were seated right by one of the front windows, which we loved. Immediately they brought bread to the table and took our cocktail order. Of course, we had to try two of the craft cocktails, which were amazing. We started off with an arugala and pear salad and shrimp gorgonzola, as our primary appetizers, but when we saw they had truffle fries, we had to order those, as well! Our entrees were lobster ravioli (one of the evening's specials) and the rigatoni alla buttera, both outstanding, and with a side of asparagus.
