The food, as many note here, is delicious. The service, however, is terrible. Regalia has always rushed people through, but last night, on New Years Eve, they had a sign on the door saying all tables are limited to 90 minutes. Ok, fine. They're always like this. But when I asked the hostess if we could sit at a different table, she yelled in my face no. Ok, if they had a certain system, then just say it professionally. When the owner delivered our salad, he didn't say a word. Not hello, not enjoy, nothing. I'm writing this as someone who worked in the restaurant business for years and waited tables for many years. I live around the corner from the restaurant, but I just have never felt comfortable to enjoy the food. They're watching, ready to push you out. And I'm not someone who likes to linger in restaurants. Thankfully the waitress was nice. But the owner and hostess were terrible. The way they treat their customers is outrageous. I can say that from the great Old Fashions that Greg poured, the Tuna Carpaccio, the Double cut stuffed Veal Chops to the Pistachio cheese cake, it was one of the Best meals I've had since the last time I was there. This is a very tasteful and cool restaurant that mixes neighborhood gem with destination place. We came about 15 miles to meet some friends and we were delighted. As soon as you walk in, you just feel like things got cooler. The decor is beautiful The service is excellent. I had a Caesar salad, halibut which was a special and asparagus on the side. My wife had a very tasty veal dish. The owner worked for Carmines on Rush for decades, and he brings a wealth of experience to his own operation. First things first, 5/5 because they bring you bread when you sit down- a key to a good Italian restaurant. The vibe is great and food was delicious. I recommend making a reservation if you want to guarantee getting a table. Food breakdown: -tomato and burrata salad: the cheese was fresh, tomatoes perfectly ripe and they placed the perfect amount of pepper, salt and balsamic glaze. First time at Regalia, this is a great addition to the neighborhood that is lacking in upscale Italian restaurants. We were able to park right in front of the restaurant, granted, it was an early reservation at 5:30pm on a Friday night. The restaurant looked pretty full by 6:15pm. We were greeted warmly and were given the choice of a table or booth. We choose the comfy booth which was spacious and comfortably seated the four of us. Complimentary rustic bread with butter dipping sauce was promptly presented. The old-fashioneds ($13) were tasty and nicely potent adorned with orange peel, cherry and one large square ice cube. For appetizer we had the Fritto Misto Calamari ($17), a nice sized portion for 4 people to have plenty. It came with 2 dipping sauces. We all agreed it was the best calamari we've ever had, nice and tender. For mains, we had the Veal Scalopini Francese ($29), Veal Scalopini alla Pepe Verde ($29), and two of us had the Rigatoni Rustico ($24). Everything was delicious and the portion sizes were ample. Next time we will try the Tiramisu for dessert. They have some outdoor seating but I don't think I'd like to sit out there with all the traffic and noise on Broadway, but it's definitely an option for people to consider. read more

We had an amazing dinner at Regalia! We made reservations fairly easily online the same Friday we went, which I would HIGHLY recommend because the seating options are slim and it could be a long wait if yo choose to just walk in on a weekend night. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and the whole atmosphere felt like we were in someone's home. You can tell the owner really prides himself on this restaurant and rightfully so! We had a glass of wine and cocktail to start and I will say their drink selections are pretty robust and reasonably priced! We also got free bread to start that was absolutely to die for. We chose the seafood risotto and short rib over risotto for our entrees and we thought both were delicious. We also got truffle fries to split which were indulgent and perfect. Portions are more than enough for the price and overall if you're looking for a nicer dinner, the price point isn't terrible. We had an amaretto almond ice cream for dessert which was the perfect way to cap off this meal. We're so glad Regalia is in Edgewater and look forward to returning! read more

We had an all around excellent dining experience here last night. From the moment we walked in, when we were welcomed by a super nice and funny host, to the end of the meal cappuccino everything was just about perfect. Our waiter was super friendly, attentive, and helpful with the menu, and even before we ordered cocktails we were greeted with fresh focaccia and a bean spread. Both were delicious, as were the cocktails from the bar. Not the strongest drinks if I'm being honest, but certainly tasty. We started with a burrata which was simple and let the super fresh ingredients do the talking. For entrees our table ordered numerous things off both the printed menu and daily specials; both were excellent but don't sleep on the daily specials! The interior of the space is sleek but charming, and fancy but causal. My only regret is not finding this place sooner! Oh and not saving room for dessert. read more

An amazing restaurant in the heart of Edgewater. My friends and I wanted to sit outside and enjoy a nice dinner and drinks. We decided on Regalia. The host Enes was incredible, amazing personality, attentive, and very professional. We need more restaurants to have hosts that good. In addition, our server Natalia was also incredible. Great new restaurant in Edgewater First thing is you are greeted with a warm welcome. We were Given great bread with a garlic spread on the side and informed on the nights features. While enjoying dinner we were offered more complimentary fresh made focaccia bread. Some places in Chicago like to charge you 7 dollars for bread, not here. We loved Regalia! I have a monthly dinner club with a couple friends where we try a new restaurant together. The food was delicious. I shared the beef carpaccio and burrata caprese with my friends, and had the rigatoni with Italian sausage for myself. I also had the Aviation cocktail - beautiful purple color! My friends had the fish special. Our waiter was very attentive; you can tell the people that work there are very professional and passionate about the restaurant. Last night, February 13 I dined here with my wife for an early V-Day meal. Right off, fantastic dining experience. Ambiance is dark and moody, with the bold white flower pattern on the wall, large and dim light fixtures, cushy and comfortable booths, large dark wood tables. The bar area is to the left, the general seating to the right. Candle-lit tables also set an intimate atmosphere. The acoustic jazz remixes are also a nice touch to keep the vibe positive without being frenetic. The front of the house greeted us warmly and gave us a great booth, and the wait staff were ultra-diligent and explained all of the specials with knowledge and depth. He sold us on a special of 6-hour slow cooked lamb shank risotto with a tomato reduction sauce from the lamb. For appetizers we tried the fried calamari and the artichokes. We also tried the mushroom risotto and split a tiramisu for dessert. -The focaccia bread and olive oil-cannellini bean dip was a nice change from the usual Italian loaves. Soft, fluffy, and flavorful without being heavy or filling, it helped us prep for the meal. -The calamari was an instant favorite, the batter was ultra-light, crispy, and the calamari had a great texture. Both sauces complimented the calamari without overpowering the natural flavor. -The artichoke appetizer was plated and served to us tableside by the server, and had an excellent lemon sauce. We soaked up the artichoke sauce with the focaccia bread. -The mushroom risotto was wonderful, the earthy mushroom flavors were front and center, playing with the umami of the cream and the balanced texture of the risotto. Chewy with satisfying firmness, but not crunchy or mushy either. Great dish and portion size. -Same goes for the lamb risotto, which was plain but had a solid cheese flavor on its own. The lamb reduction sauce paired very well. The lamb shank itself was melt in your mouth tender, fatty, and plentiful. There were definitely leftovers and a great value dish. When boxing it to go, I asked for an extra scoop of the delicious sauce to take home. -Tiramisu was solid to end the feast, good sized portion and tasty without being too sweet. -The manager also gave us complimentary coffeecello to close off the night, sweet and decadent. I am definitely coming back, hopefully before this place because too popular and I can't get a seat. I want to try the other items on the menu, looking at what other diners ordered, it looked awesome. I'm definitely aiming for the pastas on the next visit. read more

This is a cozy restaurant with a familiar menu that exceeds expectations. As you can see by the number of five-star reviews it is catching on and resonating. Regalia has a welcoming atmosphere of a supper club with a well-appointed bar and an eclectic dark interior that was bustling with activity. We were greeted by the owner who put us at a spacious table at the back of the restaurant. It has a good wine list and nine signature cocktails. The salads are great and nicely plated, the risotto dishes are good, and the main courses are hearty. The desserts are also a good selection. The only improvement is that servers do not know how to properly bring plates and place them in front of you. There were a lot of passing plates over people to get to a person which was awkward and distracting. However, it is a solid restaurant, and plan to go back. read more

I didn't think to look at the menu ahead of time & MAYBE that was a mistake because the selection was a bit limited overall & they only had 1 steak option (normally). Luckily, they had a special that night & there was a second steak option that was a little bit more my taste. Not that the normal selection wasn't; it also sounded pretty good. The special just sounded better (a rarity, as I don't think I've ever preferred the special before in my life) so a nice change of pace. Overall, it was quite good.
