I have never had a better contracting experience than I had with Double J! Our plumber doing the repiping recommended Double J for the remodel work. Prior to the beginning of work, Jim gave us a spreadsheet detailing what would be done by who and when. Throughout the work, he communicated with us frequently advising us what was happening and what would be done next. He worked with us all the way through, helping us make the necessary decisions that we needed to make and purchase the things that we agreed to purchase. Jim works with a group of small, family owned subcontractors who have the same work ethic as Jim. They all were fantastic. The work was great, finished on time and in budget. After messaging back and forth a few times he finally gave me an estimate for $7,000. I did my research and had other bids that were half as much that had a 5 star rating but companies have not been getting back with me because my project is still a couple of months out. The price for materials the gentleman quoted was ridiculous. When I tried to explain this to him he took a nasty tone with me and basically called me an idiot and went "Ha, Ha, Ha" have a nice day. So unprofessional. If I could give him a no star rating I would. Please do your homework before you hire any professional. "A true professional" The cost for concrete work for 2020 pricing is between $4-$8 sf including labor and material. The higher number per sf is based on the complexity of the job. My job is easy. About 720 sf in all. All level ground and cleared with 560 being a 6" slab and 180 being 4". Even at the higher number this job would have put me under $5,800. By no means difficult. You can also find a cost estimate calculator online for concrete for both a 4" inch slab work as well as 6". I highly recommend you check this out. Of course this does not include rebar, etc. but this should give you a pretty good idea if you care about your money

We had him replace siding, repair some drywall and install some GFCI outlets for us. The work was exactly what we needed and he and his crew got it done is crappy weather just in time for the holidays. We moved to the area in February and wanted to get our yard set up with a dog door from the garage and a fence along the side for a dog run. After getting the runaround and dealing with sky high bids from two other non-responsive contractors, I decided to do the dog door myself and put up some welded-wire fencing as a stop gap until I built up the patience to give the fence another run. After failing with two word of mouth referrals, I decided to give yelp a go and glad I did. Although Jon only had one review at the time, it detailed the kind of experience you should expect from someone you are paying to do a job: punctuality, responsive communication, integrity, etc. Worth a shot I decided, and gave him a call. Since it was almost 5pm on Saturday, I wasn't expecting to set something up for the next week, but an hour later he is at my house assessing the project area (and dealing with my overly excited and aggressively playful boxer). He does the necessary measurements and tells me he'll have the quote to me that night. In my prior experience with contractors, usually a few hours meant a few days, but sure enough I had a detailed quote that night. A few emails later, and we are set for a Tuesday start date. He again arrived promptly and got right to work and was 99% done that day (had to let the posts set overnight before installing the gate Wednesday afternoon). Its refreshing to deal with a contractor that respects your time and is as professional as Jon. I highly recommend.

He was very slow and ran us way over budget (he essentially billed us 89.00 per hour to put in tile, and he seriously billed us for 48 hours of tile work to put in 45 pieces of 12x24 tile). When we would ask for estimates to finish, he gave an estimate, and then took twice as long as his estimate. When we confronted him, he literally said, it's time and materials, it is what it is. We finally had him stop work when he was close to 50% over our original estimate (and he STILL wasn't finished). The final quality of work was so bad, we had to hire a new contractor and have all the tile torn out and start over. Be careful!
