Came to watch a movie it's 8:15 for 8:45p show it's been 10mins and I've been standing in the same spot in line. The lines don't seem to be moving. There's 5 lines and they all seem to not be moving at all. They know peoples have a set movie time to meet. How do they expect to sell anything. I've watched several people walk out of line and complain. Also after waiting in line it's now 8:50p went to the restroom and ladies room is so nasty. This Edwards Theater is extremely dirty, it's obvious that management is not on top of things, the bathroom is extremely dirty trash cans overflowing, no toilet paper, soap dispensers empty, no seat covers in some of the stalls, it's clear that it's not checked regularly. I understand that they might be very busy but keep the place clean n restocked. The whole floors are extremely dirty. When we arrive at the El Paseo shopping center, we couldn't find any parking at less an half hour this place gets really pack because of the stores and restaurants in the location. Cleanliness: lobby wasn't clean well. Lots of popcorn on the floor and trash left on the condiment area. Inside the theater wasn't any better, needed to be swept. Theater: Extremely long lines at the concession stand, not enough workers to handle such a large crowd. Large and spacious lobby, inside theater is avg size. Chairs aren't like the newer ones you would find in other locations. But they're okay. Plenty of room for the handicap. Movie experience: Poor. We went as a group to view Kingdom men rising. The movie was supposed to start at 7:00 pm. And we literally waited looking at a blank screen for 30 min. A person in our group went and informed an employee that people are waiting to watch the 7 pm movie, and they said that they had either forgotten or that the person who runs the movie was late. We Bought tickets at a kiosk and it was quick just make sure you swipe your card the right way. Gentlemen by entrance asked if he can help. That was a big plus. Tons of parking available and lots of showtimes at any times. I love coming here because free parking and the movie tickets are pretty cheap. If you come on Sunday's movies are only $7 which is convenient. The staff is friendly and it doesn't get too full. I've been here Friday and Saturday nights and it's not really full. They also have hot Cheetos with cheese. I recommend becoming a regal crown member and earning points to get free movies and snacks. read more

I have to agree with Lisa T, this place is A-OK and does the trick. You're here to see a movie right? Then that's all there is to it. I can always find parking, usually on the first level too. I usually grab a starbucks on my way in or out. This Edwards is pretty clean for being as old as it is. It's not stinky, sticky or gross yet so good job on the upkeep. I live in Downey and I HATE the Krikorian. I disagree with Zulema O. on so many things but this review isn't about her review or The Krikorian in Downey. I'll leave it at, if the Krikorian were so great, why wouldn't I go there instead (living two blocks away) of driving down to South Gate's Edwards?? I usually like coming to this theatre early in the morning on it's first showing. The theatre is usually near empty at that time on weekends and I love that. They also added healthy and tasty small meal alternatives that are great. I'm happy I can eat hummus while watching a movie :) read more

At first I thought I was tripping till my girlfriend addressed it to me and because of that we simply moved seats *the seats over where not taken, we checked before moving* After the movie we went to spoke to the manager and she was RUDE! Even before the pandemic this theater needed work. Screens have stains or marks which makes watching the difficult when you just notice a huge mark. The only theater rooms are nicer are the ones are the imax and screen x thing that are now doing. The others have seats with stains, maybe they don't deep clean because they plan to replace them? One could only hope. And the lines for concession are ridiculous unless you come to the first showing or last. The employees need to move with sense of urgency, people are trying to make their movie. Movie Threater is fine. Concession stand is always understaffed slow as molasses,every time I come here. 10 people online one person working. Management staff could care less. Seems to me for the number of people buying something they could afford to put somebody at the counter for $7.25 an hour. I got advance screening tickets to a movie at this theater. It's a big theater that shows 20 movies, hence the name Edwards 20. The line for the screening was large, but once it got closer to the showtime they got through the line pretty quick. If you get to the theater early there are some places to eat, but if you're looking for a sit-down restaurant to take your family I would chose going somewhere else before unless you want to take them to hooters. Inside the theater they have arcade games to keep you or your kids busy if you have to wait for your movie. read more

I love me a good movie but this setup is ridiculous. Why have multiple concession areas if you're only going to open the main one? Lines are way too long especially when employees can't seem to get your order right. Get here early and STILL miss the first 10-15 minutes of the movie. This movie theater is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE First of all I wanted to purchase my tickets at the movie theaters and it appears I have to use a kiosk when 3 women were just talking in a group and doing absolutely nothing. I guess you can't purchase movie tickets at a movie theater with cash anymore. They only take card. I needed help at the kiosk and no one helped me. I came later on that night they had absolutely nothing on the menu literally just popcorn not even soda and of course they only took card. Next I went to the bathroom and absolutely no toilet paper In any of the restroom stalls. Lastly I came to the seats and popcorn all over the seats. 25 bucks a ticket for this . There are long lines to buy tickets (there was only one person selling tickets the day I was there and the line was long) and long lines at the concession stand. I'm tired of giving this theater a chance. Every time I come is always some messed up situation. They don't even open the doors on time. Giving customers very little time to make line and purchase tickets then they put only ONE person on the food court and a huge line. At this point the movie has started already and the food hasn't even been ordered yet. I am here once again giving it a chance and it is 1pm and I can't order pizza or any food that gets done in the back because the manager said they don't have anyone cooking at the back. First and last time we go to this location. We had a choice between our local Alhambra Edwards or SG Edwards. We chose SG because the movie started an 1.5 hr earlier, and didn't mind driving an extra 7 miles down the 710. The difference in service and quality between Alhambra and SG Edwards is night and day. Everything that is said about this SG theater is sadly true: understaffed, dirty bathrooms, sad workers, poor projection quality, fail to turn lights off in auditorium and very long lines at ticket counter and concessions. I purchased tickets at automated kiosk and still missed 25 mins of movie due to long concession lines. This is considering the 25 mins of trailers. Due the math...that's almost an hour at concessions line. Don't come here, unless you enjoy a very poor moviegoing experience. read more

It had been 10 years since I'd been to this theatre and i will never return. I'll tell you why... I purchased three No Manches Frida tickets, but instead I got "Five Feet apart" with out realizing it. It took over three minutes at the concession stand to get my stale, cold, and I cheesy popcorn, honestly they were gross. After I realized that I was in the wrong room- for the movie I went to the front and told the guy to change my tickets to the original movie I had asked for.it turns out I was not the only person who had been given the wrong movie tickets. The show was supposed to star at 4:30, but honestly after settling in it was 4:35 and the screen was not on the lights were not dimmed and no preview had come on. Apparently, the manager had lacked to turn on the block in the movie to get it started. I will never return here. History beware even the people who work here don't like the place. read more
