This AMC probably has some of the best reclining seats I've experienced so far--like dangerously comfortable to the point where you could absolutely fall asleep mid-movie if you're not careful. The popcorn was also on point, perfectly fresh with that elite level of buttery goodness that makes movie theater popcorn worth the price every single time. They have four soda machines, which ended up being a small adventure because I need cherry coke at the movies. Two of the machines were out (tragic), but the third one pulled through, so crisis averted. This theater also had a very crisp and strong cherry flavor in the cola which helps this theater to rank high on my list. I was a little disappointed there was no Yoshi popcorn bucket (sold out the day before), but honestly... probably better for my wallet. Check-in itself was easy, but the scanner is placed really close to the entrance, which created a bit of a bottleneck. I walked in behind a large group, and we all ended up awkwardly shuffling and waiting right by the doorway while people tried to scan their tickets. Not a huge deal, just slightly chaotic. The two main downsides for me were the parking lot and the cleanliness. The parking lot layout is genuinely confusing--it feels like it was designed with zero logic, and I found myself second-guessing where I was even supposed to go. And when I got to my seat, it clearly hadn't been cleaned. There was popcorn all over and candy wrappers stuck in the cup holder, which... yeah. As someone who gets very bothered by sitting in other people's mess, I was pretty grossed out at first. I ended up wiping it down myself and, to be fair, once the movie started I forgot about it. But it definitely broke that illusion I like to maintain that theater seats aren't as dirty as they probably are. Like I know, logically, they're not pristine--but I prefer not to be reminded so directly Overall, still a really solid theater experience thanks to the seats, popcorn, and overall vibe, but a little more attention to cleanliness would easily make this a 5/5. read more

This place needs renovating. The chairs are old and popcorn was stale. I was here mostly to see The Devil Wears Prada 2. I wish they had a Regal Theater closer to me. The only one that's here in this area is in Palos Verdes. Other theaters are better than the AMC chain. My chair would not reset to a seated position and stayed reclined. One of my favorite things about this theatre is how low key and chill it is. If you are ever in the mood to watch a movie without the big crowd or the noise, this is def the perfect place. The wife and the girl were getting their nails did and the boy has been "dying" to see FNAF as the cool kids call it. For us dumb parents, that's "Five Nights at Freddie's 2". Duh. For some reason, it was playing much later in the day at our Regal Theater in Rolling Hills so we chose to revisit the theater where I spent two super fun summers working way back in the early '90s and see it earlier in the day....which was cheaper anyway. So maybe I'm biased because of the old memories but that was over 30 years ago so I think it's ok to write a review of the joint purely based on yesterday's visit. The AMC app was giving me all sorts of problems...AND I'M GLAD. They charge a stupid $2.19/each "service fee" (what, for a computer to do its job??) for buying tickets through the app. Ticket prices are average compared to other theaters. There was no line at all at the Box Office so I just walked up, saved my shekels and easily bought the tickets. The theater in which FNAF was playing was pretty wide open too (because it's really kind of a dumb movie) so we were able to grab our usual two center seats in the way back. The boy wanted mozzarella sticks ($8) for lunch so I obliged and they were actually pretty darn good with a nice cheese pull. They were surprisingly very similar to those you'd get at any halfway decent sportsbar. Now, the theater itself has come a long way in 30 years (lol). There are comfy stadium seats now that replaced the (shudder) long gently sloping seats where you'd get stuck behind someone tall and have your experience ruined. The lobby is big, bright and spacious...and the kitchen is completely open! There used to be like a narrow galley where the registers were and then you'd have to 'go in the back' to whip up a new batch of nacho cheese which we 'made' by throwing the big can 'o cheese into the dispenser and added the juice from the big can 'o jalapenos. I do miss the days when you could just glop on extra hot piping cheese (and even add it to your popcorn!) straight out of the dispenser. They have pre-sealed cups of the stuff now. I like the open concept so you can keep an eye on the workers. Lastly, the workers...well, they do their jobs and the place is very clean (as are the bathrooms). But they certainly lack the oomph I had when I worked there back in the day. I was that annoying friendly usher, always with a smile on my face. And most of all the ushers we saw yesterday, well, they were just ushering. I know they're getting paid minimum wage or whatever, but have some pride in your work and appreciation for getting to watch all the new movies for free! Anyway, I do recommend this nice, clean theater because it delivers exactly what you want: new movies with great sound played in clean theaters with comfortable seats. RECOMMENDED! read more

This place is so outdated it's sad. Chairs were literally peeling away and the buttons barely worked to recline the seats. I got my bf and I tickets to Wicked in the dolby cinema theatre and when selecting our seats, the picture of our seats had it where the two seats were together but we actually had a decent gap between us. I was right next to a stranger where in the seat selecting photo, that seat was the one with a gap. Very awkward seating arrangement and the air was real musty in that theatre. My sister and I went to see a movie at this AMC location, because it was the only one showing the movie we wanted to see near our location. All tho the movie was great. The concession stand.where you get butter and napkins were dirty they had no butter in the butter dispensers. At the end of our movie before leaving we went to the restroom, to our surprise only 4 of the toilets were working. The others were out of service including the 2 handicap toilets. This caused the restroom to have a line. Employees should check and clean this area often, making sure there's butter in the butter dispenser. Oh how times have changed since my 1st review on this 16 YEARS AGO, back when I gave it such a low star rating! BUT... this is how you know that my reviews are extremely real and genuine! As years have gone by... this particular AMC actually listened to me and everyone else's criticisms and went into action by doing complete remodeling of damn near everything while STILL keeping a great balance of an old and new school-like vibe and feel! Everything from better management, to better employees have been a huge plus. They instilled the DOLBY, Laser , XL, 3D and even IMAX technologies! Many of their past to present managers and workers have given a great balance of classic and newer vibes when it comes to customer service, maybe because this theater isn't as busy as AMC 18, but I love it. It's such a great, refreshing, nostalgic alternative to have in general. The outside looks way different from back when they first played Jurassic Park, but it's improved while keeping somewhat of an updated classy look through the years. Restrooms are always in tip top shape and unlike the AMC 18, this one tends to keep their sodas way fresher, possibly because of how not as busy it is??? I don't care, it's a plus to me! To everyone working at this theater....please keep up the great work! The nostalgia and everything are so priceless about this theater to the point where I hope it actually never closes down. read more

The IMAX theater experience is completely ruined the moment you step inside theater #10, and realize that the seating is absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. Seats are moldy, crusty, torn, worn, tattered and there's dried sticky who-knows-what on the seats (see photos). It's obvious that management does zero in the realm of basic sanitization checks -- or simple walk-throughs to inspect the quality or overall cleanliness at this location. This theater is old and run down this is the first and last time I will be coming here .the lobby is small and a mess by the soda machines there is popcorn everywhere . The bathroom looked like a truck stop, toilet paper and paper towels on the floors and sinks, also 2/4 sinks working. The theater itself was also just as bad. IMAX showing, sound was lacking for an IMAX experience unfortunately. The seats are tore up and old, my cup holder still had liquid inside it so I don't think it was even cleaned. The isle room for your legs is basically non existent, when people leave no matter where you try and put your feet you get stepped on and also there is a huge gap between the back of the seat and the floor where someone could really hurt their leg. Unfortunately I picked this theater for convenience but I will not be coming back here. read more

Went to watch Wicked with friends at a December Saturday 2:35 showtime. (Ticket was about $12, matinee showtime, I believe). This AMC is located at the Rolling Hills Plaza in Torrance. Super easy to get in from PCH. Lots of options for either non-covered or covered parking in the structure. I opted to park in a fairly close that was easy to exit from. My seat was comfy with pretty decent legroom. (I'm 5"2) didn't buy any beverages or snacks since I had eaten before. I had my hydroflask waiting for me in my car but maybe I should have snuck in a little plastic bottle of water bc it was about 2 and half hours. My friend snuck one in. Lol My friend said that the exterior of the theater is usually decorated nicely for the holidays. It was not decorated yet but perhaps other parts of the plaza are. Anyway, I rarely visit the movie theater and the last time I was at an AMC was for the Marvel movies but, I think that was at the del Amo location. With customer service, the ticket person at the booth outdoors and the ticket taker inside was nice. The ladies room needed attention and there was someone nearby about to start the cleanup. 3.5 stars rounded to 4! read more

Went to go see the 10th Anniversary of Interstellar in Imax. The theater is a little on the older side compared to other AMC's. Workers were very kind, food was your typical Theater Food. The main issue was the stereo and the volume of the IMAX Theater. We had gotten seats in the last row. The seats were uncomfortable as it sat you up at a 90 degree angle, it felt like we were sitting in an airplane. And when the movie had started the volume was uncomfortably loud. Many other watchers that were sitting in our area had either moved to the bottom rows that were open, kept covering their ears or flat out left the theater. It was an as if they just put the volume all the way to the Max and called it a day. For such an amazing movie we wish we could have had a better experience read more

Why is this movie theater in such poor condition? The restrooms are consistently dirty, and the HVAC system either does not work or is grossly inadequate. We sat through a three-hour movie with no noticeable ventilation, air circulation, or filtration. That is not just uncomfortable--it is a potential health concern. The seats are worn out and literally falling apart. The theater rooms smell musty, almost like a wet dog, and the entire facility feels decades out of date. It genuinely feels as though this location has been neglected since the 1980s. When was the last time AMC invested in real maintenance at this theater? It appears abandoned rather than actively operated. It is hard to believe that the City of Rolling Hills and the residents of the Palos Verdes Peninsula are expected to accept this level of neglect. Especially when you compare it to AMC theaters in places like Century City, which are clean, modern, and well maintained, the contrast is unacceptable. This location deserves the same level of care and investment. The community should demand better. read more

I went to see a double feature and was helped out by the manager to see if I can change my seats. He was friendly and helpful. I was able to change my seats for the second movie I went in to see. The seats were comfortable for the first movie. It was the IMAX experience. The viewing room was clean. The second movie was a much smaller room. One noticeable observation was when I went to sit down on my seats I noticed tagging on the back of some seats. It was off putting. Other than that Brian was such a big help when changing my seats and the concession stand was organized and gave good service. I would recommend this place for a movie date! read more

Good theater, clean and well run. Came on a Sunday afternoon it was pretty busy but we got checked in relatively quickly. There was a long line for concessions but it was maybe a 10 minute wait in line. Tried playing a couple of arcade games but it was pretty disappointing. 2 claw games, a shooting game that wasn't plugged in, and a racing game. The theater itself was fine and clean. Sound and screen was good. Movie started at 2:15 but of course there was like 15 mins of previews and AMC commercials. Like I'm here already I don't need a 30 second commercial on how clear the picture is. Overall a pretty good experience. read more

The good: I had a gift card for AMC from Christmas that I didn't get to use until today. I watched a Korean romance movie called Past Lives. I tried garlic pretzel bites and popcorn. There is plenty of parking here. You choose your seats when you buy your ticket. The bathrooms are spacious. The sodas are self-serve. The bad: They forgot to turn off the lights in the theater when the movie started. Someone had to go alert staff to dim it. The seats were a bit dirty and dingy. The icees are so expensive! They also don't have kettle corn! The screen they show you for you to choose your seats is tiny and hard to view. I was pretty uncomfortable in my chair but it was because I was almost at my due date for my pregnancy. The interesting: This was my first movie theater experience since 2019. I ended up going into labor and having contractions later that night and my son was born the next day. read more

AMC Rolling Hills use to be one of my favorite theaters years ago but when I tell you I will never step foot in there again!!! I visited on 7/19/24 for the 4:30pm showing of Disciples in Moonlight (film was AMAZING! Definitely a must-see) but this theater has gone SUPER down hill. I had already purchased my ticket prior to showing up so when I walked up to the guy/greeter checked my ticket... he looked super irritated and annoyed - maybe he didn't want to be there!? (I don't know - not my problem nor my issue). The greeter/ticket checker guy said in a low voice which theater I needed to go to for my movie but he said it so low that I didn't even recall what he said once I walked away from him. Went in line for popcorn (which really wasn't a line... that was nice) but perhaps there wasn't a line because the popcorn was NASTY - it had burnt pieces in it. The butter off to the side, tasted OLD. The ice-ee machine pushed out runny liquid. The theater needs major upgrades, deep cleaning... the walls were dirty as well as the carpet in the hallways. The seats in the theater were not comfortable... they don't even recline... so you're sitting straight up thee whole entire time during your movie... SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE. I turned from side to side the whole movie. The restroom was horrendous and it was the one in the front (lobby): trash overflowing, sink tops had water all over, restroom stalls had tissue in the toilets it was just gross. Trash on the floors... I was totally shocked by the condition of this movie theater. I don't see how they're still operating. If the health department came there they would for sure be shut down. AND it smelled throughout the lobby, hallways and restrooms! Disgusting. It took everything in me to focus on my movie and not to leave... and they have the nerve to change $20 plus for movie tickets!? Tickets to this location should be FREE.99! Terrible seating in theater #4. The seats are stationary and very uncomfortable! The seat doesn't even go up and down when you stand up to let someone go by. My back hurt for 2 days after. Commercials the same as you see on TV are repeated over and over for 20 min prior to movie previews and start of movie that you paid too much to see. As an AMC A-Lister, this is my local theater! It has a special place in my heart. The staff here are always been kind and helpful. What I will say is though I love the older vibe of this AMC compared to newer ones, she does need some TLC. Our theater seats are very old and I think could use some revamping. Seats are worn out and none of the theaters have recliners (I don't mind a normal seat but I know most people expect recliners nowadays). Although I hope this doesn't mean our theater will close! Usually really good popcorn but sometimes inconsistent depending on time of day. Staff have been happy to replace the popcorn though if you wait a few minutes for a fresh batch! read more

This a review specifically about the people working there for buying tickets. They charged me twice for tickets then I had to call my credit card company to get the charges resolved thanks to the stupidity of the people working there; they told me the charge didn't go through the first time then made me insert my card again and instead I got charged twice. I don't know why this theater just doesn't have enough machines here instead like the movie theater near Del Amo mall since the machine is smarter than the dumb people working at the ticket counter. read more

The movies are too loud. I expect part of this is because so many younger people listen to music loudly with headphones or earbuds and have damaged their hearing as a result but that shouldn't mean the rest of us need our hearing destroyed. Tonight I went to see Red One but the trailers before the movie were so LOUD that by the time the movie started I could barely hear it my hearing was so numb. Luckily after about ten minutes I was able to hear better but it makes me question whether I should attend any more. I've been to concerts where the music wasn't as loud as the audio was tonight at AMC 20. It seems as if the volume gets louder every time I see a movie there. I value my hearing and don't think I and other movie goers should have to risk hearing damage just to see a movie. I generally enjoy the movie experience there more than other local theaters due to the behavior of the patrons at many other theaters. read more

Buying tickets and reserving seats online was very convenient and easy. It beats standing in line the old fashioned way just to buy tickets. When purchasing tickets online, the system sends an email confirmation with a QR box which is scanned by an employee when entering the theater. Easy and contactless....love it. What are the odds of coming to the theater (matinee) with loads of empty seats (only two seats reserved when I initially reserved our seats and they were two rows above ours) and now I'm sitting next to a person two seats away. This is CRAP! Even if people purchase tickets at the box office why in the world would people pick seats next to others. AH COVID? Respect others space please. AMC should block seats to help protect others and encourage the movie experience again. read more

Purchased my large popcorn and req my early refill so there would be no need to go back into the lobby. Great news my popcorn is fresh. This movie was 2 hours and 30 minutes went to the bathroom again, And I be damned the bathroom was still dirty, but this time no tissue smh. Just shut down already. The movie was sound of freedom. This movie was every parents nightmare, very emotional . I was very upset going on the journey with this police officer. I attend movies at this theater every week due to being a part of AMC's A-List program. The theater has progressively become less hygienic with each visit. The women's bathrooms are disgusting, do not have soap half the time, many stalls are out of order, and the bathroom reeks of urine. I do not expect the four seasons level of service at an establishment like this because I know it's a movie theater, but these bathrooms need a plumber and cleaning crew otherwise they will quickly become a health hazard. Additionally, the soda machines are not well maintained and whatever "soda" you try to dispense comes out tasting like carbonated air. It's depressing to pay $9 for a soda and have it taste like sadness. Please AMC Rolling Hills, I want to support my local theater, but the factors above are making me want to stay home. read more
