I remember, vaguely in detail, but clearly in broadness, that I saw an episode of Reading Rainbow. In this episode the main character goes to a swap meet and is inspired by a book to view a trip to the swap meet as an opportunity to discover treasure. I did not go with a child's optimism to the Roadium, but I did hope to find oddities to engage my mind, trinkets to admire and imagine about, and in general find something that would be right for me at a bargain price. And the Roadium on a Sunday, provided me the opportunity to find all the previously mentioned items and things, plus it also help me get steps in, in a slow pace, while I absorbed the sun's Vitamin D. I am surprised to say this, like super surprised, but the item that most caught- really arrested- my attention was a picture that centered the country's current sitting president: Trump. In the picture, Trump has his head down, eyes closed, hands and fingers interlocked, and he seems to have a face of meditation, maybe receiving peace and/or knowledge. And behind stand a variety of historical and political powerhouses of the past, like Nixon, Reagan, Washington, Lincoln, and others that I could not recognize to name with confidence. However, all had their eyes closed, and had an aura of tranquility that also carried palpable notes of worry. What struck me the most is that the group, in tense serenity, included men and women of color. It is important to note that I clipped the picture, to give the reader or viewer the opportunity to collect their own thoughts and land their own interpretation. That got heavy. I also clipped a picture of quinceneras. One was dressed in Cinderella blue with a carriage, horse, and carriage handers were in the background, I thought it was A.I. generated but perhaps some people do have quinces like that, in fact I know they do, I used to wacth my Super Sweet Sixteen on MTV. Getting inside the Roadium is hard on a Sunday. But apparently worst on others day because the Roadium has different vendors on different days and each attracts a different type of crowd. For instance, on the firstMonday of the month vendors from the Rose Bowl Flea Market come. Please know that I am recycling information that was provided to me by one of the vendors. Research, please to verify accuracy. However, she also explained that on Mondays, when the Vintage Vendors come, parking becomes nearly imposible to find, even on the street. On this day, it cost 5 dollars, the cashiers only accept cash, The place has trinkets, food, and finds, seriously, it is a cool walk to see, touch, and get lost, if that is something one can do- shop vendors with nothing you want to buy, but still find meaning in the seeing and touching. I had peanuts on this day, but they were special because they were freshly toasted. Like I got a few to try (both extra toasted and not so toasted) and they were still warmed from the machine that toasted them. The touch of a warm shell was enough for me to be impressed but the freshness was key. This vendor explains that sometimes the peanuts in the store are 10 days old, after they were first roasted. Again do research. I saw micro Mexican candy stores with some of the candy that really communicates non-tourist streets of Oaxaca. I also bought three shirts. One was 8, two other ones were three dollars, and I feel like they were honest finds. I took a video of a barbie like doll, not barbie, using a Segway, which I thought was a wink to the modern that made sense yet never seen. I also saw a Spiderman Halloween shirt. And I thought how weird. It was him siting Spidey like, and he was pumpkin orange with bats behind him. It was juvenile because it was Disney product from theri Halloween bash time. So this place does have what was one precious yet never bought. I can see how someone might get something today to use at another day, or simply, be creative and DIY stuff from the stuff they found here. read more

We went for vintage days and it was a big disappointment . There was one booth that had vintage items. The rest of the swap meet was Bath and body items which was very well organized and they had a massive amounts and quite a bit of children's items and clothes some clothes not the best quality but just really good selection and kids grow out of things so fast they had some like little boutique booths, which the quality didn't seem great, but the prices were higher than I definitely expected, but the rest of the Swapmeet was like a big chunk sale plastic bags on the ground or on tables with just piles of stuff thrown all over them or random tchotchkes thrown on the ground and you had to pick through everything. It is big but unfortunately it was definitely not vintage days. We went on the day that they was designated for vintage days specifically because we weren't really looking for just junk or stuff . We won't be back anytime soon . We got an ice cream cone and one scoop was like eight dollars. They do have some fruit and vegetables, but they were pretty ripe and some of the items canned goods look like things they got left over from maybe a food bank or items they took from a food bank that they didn't use just a lot of stuff that seemed like it had been collected from free stuff left over from a yard sale or I don't even know it was not what I expected. It was my first time I've been wanting to go for years. My sister-in-law hadn't been since she was younger, and my husband hadn't been since he was younger. Ok I have been coming here since I have the little girl and they always have the best deals and cute trinkets to buy. I used to also sell here when I was younger and helped my mom with her clothing business and that was always a good time. It is very professional and very organized at this swap meet. They keep it well up and clean and very structured throughout the parking. On the weekend Saturday and Sunday is five dollars and during the week is cheaper so I recommend coming during a week if you can. I always come here to get some of my jeans. They have the most cutest, unique jeans that I ever saw. They also have all the stuff you need from plates, Clorox wipes, Lysol, and so much more. The deals here are very good. They also sell a lot of roasted peanuts that's freshly made and they have a lot of good food stands as well. The only thing is that the parking can be a little crazy, but other than that, this is a really good outdoor spot meet and I love to come here to grab some cute things for reasonable deals. They have great discounts on all kinds of shopping from furniture to clothes, etc. great prices for the value of items you purchase. This is a great place to go when you have toddlers and or dont have a baby sitter but you really want to see a movie! They go right to sleep and you get your bang for your buck. Food is great! AVOID. AVOID. AVOID! I had an open mind on my way to the Roadium. I grew up going to Santa Fe Springs SwapMeet as well as indoor swap meets. The Roadium is probably the worst version of both. They charge you to enter this place and I'm guessing that is the only way they make money. Charging $10-$20 for "VIP" parking is ridiculous. We were lucky to find street parking literally across the street, it was an hour of free parking. We walked across the busy street towards the entrance of the Roadium and were stopped by a heavyset security guard on a power trip. He asked us what we were doing, where were we going, and if we paid for parking? My partner was trying to explain we already parked and were just walking towards the entrance. The security guard then proceeded to tell us we were not welcomed as they do not allow "walk-ins." HAHA! What a joke. I lied saying we were actually dropped off by an Uber driver then the security guard said, "OH, you were dropped off by Uber? Okay, here is the walk-in entrance!" I couldn't believe the attitude once we paid $4 to enter. In no way is this market worth the $2/person to enter. Every vendor was selling the exact same products. Low end Target brand trash. Loads of expired food and rotting fruits & vegetables. We saw a bunch of onions sitting out in the sun. No variety in the vendor's booths, they genuinely had multiples of the items they were trying to get rid of for a terrible price. One guy was selling counterfeit designer and randomly had two interesting hoodies in his booth; the hoodies were sort of vintage, but not designer. When we asked him what he was charging for the hoodies, he made up a number on the spot and said $250. We just walked away laughing. We have been through way too many legit farmer's markets, flea markets and swap meets to ever want to return to the Roadium. We finished walking the entire market in about 30 minutes and unfortunately found nothing useful. Overall, do not waste your time visiting. There are plenty of better deals and a bigger variety of products at ANY other market. read more

The swap meet itself has some cool little gems, like the Hot Topic-esque booth and the older Asian man that sells self defense things. It's a bit smaller than other swap meets, but it's okay. I ate at the little restaurant they have and the food was ghastly. I ordered 2 al pastor tacos and they were the greasiest most sour tacos I've ever had. So lovely to have a Drive in that is easily accessible and doesn't require me to drive like 90 minutes to a rural area! This one is right in Torrance and shows movies on Friday nights during the summer. Same location as the flea market and near lots of local businesses. Pro tip: grab some takeout nearby and bring it with you in your car at the drive in! Being that retro things are cool now I was expected a massive crowd but it was so nice to only have 10 cars there as I got a prime spot in front of the screen. They normally have a snack bar open but the night I went they didn't, and so they offered us complimentary water and coffee to make up for not having the bad open. The only thing I would improve was the audio transmission through the FM station wasn't that great as it had a low buzz to it that you could hear during quieter scenes. Still I can't complain too much. $25 per car not per person. Great deal! You can buy tickets in advance online but still it doesn't get busy (usually) you can just do it at the front entrance. Visited on Monday, 06/20/22 for the first time. HUGGGEE Flea Market (aka Swapmeet). At night this lot transfers into an outdoor movie theater (never experienced before). Somewhat ample parking but very narrow and can be challenging at times. Monday was moderately crowded. Parking was not free when we arrived. ($1.50 total - $1.00 per vehicle AND driver + $0.50 per additional passenger). This swapmeet has it all - Costco goodies, clothes, electronics, you name it. There is also a Cafe (Roadium Cafe). Overall 4/5 - I recommend bringing a hat and sunscreen as it was extremely hot when I was there. read more

What a great experience and so nostalgia we had here, to go back in time if just for a few hours to relive the good old days going to the drive in. The Roadium has always been around when this drive in closed in the mid 80 it was used and is currently as an open air swap market, this place is always crowed, driving on Redondo beach Blvd in between Crenshaw Blvd and Van Ness Ave you can't miss the bright yellow sign. It was $25.00 per car or truck, you could also purchase your tickets on line as well, there was a line to get in because the gates did not open till 7 pm and the movie stared around 8:15 pm staff was generally nice to everyone i saw. There was a snack bar plus restrooms in the rear, there is an armed security officer patrolling the driver in in a golf car, Oh after 9 pm they lock the gates. Ferris Bueller's Day Off was the 1986 classic movie playing that night, there so many classic old school cars, vintage and convertible vehicles, also people were dress to the drive in day. Movies will be playing every Friday night in Aug. 05, Despicable Me, Aug./12, Field of dreams, Aug./19, Gone in 60 seconds, Aug./ 26, American graffiti. Years ago I can recall this place being the "go to" place for discounted fashion and just about anything else. I visited it months back and my first issue was parking. It was chaotic. I tried to arrange to take the shuttle from El Camino but there was too long a line. I would have walked but due to medical issues couldn't do it. Incredibly RUDE worker in the parking lot. Put stickers on ALL of our car windows saying we are "illegally parked" IN the parking lot. He said we can't be parking here. HOWEVER I pointed out that there is NO sign, NO cones, NOTHING telling us that we cannot park there. He had no defense against that. He was about to call a tow truck. I asked him NICELY to remove the stickers since we are here and he said with attitude and a look on his face "I can't do that" as he was communicating with some other worker on the walkie talkie. I could've sued if he did call that tow truck considering there was no kind of signage along with an unnecessary attitude from a d*** worker. He had a long white beard and bald head. And AGAIN. Came here on a Sunday evening in October around lunch time. The traffic coming in off of Redondo Beach made it look like this swap meet was the hot spot. Came in paid $5 to park. Parking is terrible. Luckily, I found a decent spot to park. Went in and thought I'd have a wide selection to choose from. Lol, that was definitely not the deal here. Their selection was your basic swap meet finds, which is no different than the ordinary garage/yard sales. I honestly was over this swap meet within the first aisle I walked. I had about 4 hours to kill one Monday on a recent business trip and found this place. Who knew swap meets would be open then? For me, the best rows were the first few where individuals pull-up and sell anything and everything. Toward the rear are the more permanent vendors where their inventory doesn't change much, or they're selling new products from China or Mexico. For vintage items though, the 1st few rows are the best bet. Although I didn't purchase anything the 1 hour I was there, I almost did and would return if I was in the area. I arrived at around 10am, by 1015, there were a few vendors from the front starting to pack up. So, its always better to arrive early. read more

Yes this place is finally open. Not much vendors which i understand and even though it says you need masks most people don't have them on anyhow. It is a usual swap meet people everywhere and not much organization though I must say it was organized before. This place use to be my go to for the weekend but as of late it been going down hill , they seem to always close the parking to so they can try and fill up their "vip parking" so it's always a hassle even get inside , also they have raised their prices to $5 per car on weekends ..... they've also removed all the trash cans so there's trash flying everywhere I had to walk around with trash in my hand because apparently they've removed the trash cans save your time and money and head over to Goldenwest free parking no entrance fee plenty of parking and plenty of trash cans as well read more

Drive-In in 2020? Yes, please! Went to watch Grease with a friend and her family. Had some irritation with event staff not directing cars properly but whatever just irritating when people can't communicate properly, service lacking. However, how can you have a bad time watching Grease lol. We had an enjoyable evening. The weather was just right. I've been to several swap meets and this by far has been the best one. They change vendors daily and some are permanent. Monday, Tuesday & Saturdays have the best all around vendors and Sundays have more house items focus things mixed with other things too and Friday has too many empty lots. $4 flat rate parking on weekends. You can find almost anything you're looking for here depending on the day you go ranging from clothes, shoes, electronics, furniture, jewelry, herbs, house items, gardening tools, outdoor gear, toys, food (check expiration dates), personal care and so much more! BRING LOTS OF CASH AND EAT BEFORE HAND. There food stand isn't great. The Carne asada plate was bland and the tortillas were stale. Fries and burgers were generic and remined me of middle school cafeteria food. It takes about 15 minutes to get your orders. I haven't tried their drive in yet due to the not so great movie options. $2 parking on weekdays and $5 on weekends. No admission fee. Sellers started packing up their goods just after 2, so it's better to show up before then. There were lots of snack stands and a public restroom. I found a lot of goodies there, from La Roche-Posay products to Stauer watches to trading cards. Every seller took a form of-non cash payment (Zelle, Venmo). You might have to do digging in piles for clothes, but no complaints! read more

This is a sprawling swap meet location popular among locals. They're open daily and are particularly busy on weekends. Although I don't personally see the appeal considering I don't think the prices are all that good, the people who do come here clearly seem to love it. For example, a vendor was asking $3 per stick of deodorant that was packaged in a 2-pack I can get at Target for under $5 a pack. A lot of the phone accessories seem to also be things I can get off Amazon. I guess the appeal is for people who don't have an Amazon or Costco membership? I think we paid like $7 for an agua fresca, which seemed a bit steep even though it was convenient on a warm day. I don't see myself coming back here anytime soon. Parking is a bit crazy here when it gets busy since they will close the lot and force people to drive around the block which most people don't enjoy having to do. They charge by car and occupant count, but have a free shuttle down the street located at the El Camino College parking lot across from the school. A lot of the street parking in the area is permitted, so read the signs carefully. read more

I came here on a Sunday around 11 and there was nobody here. Most of the vendors were still here at this time, and I walked through the whole thing in about an hour. I took the free shuttle bus from El Camino and didn't have to wait long at all, though the bus was full both ways. There are no walk ins allowed on weekends, so you have to either drive in and pay for parking or walk to ECC and hop on the bus. Many of the things here are low quality mass produced bootleg garbage. Examples: fake JBL speakers and some kind of bootleg pikachu/dog plush. They sell a lot of fake headphones too. There are a few nice things here but you really have to dig and be sure of what you're looking for. There are plenty of stalls selling some good looking produce. A lot of vendors sell household cleaning supplies, including things like Kirkland paper towels split up and charged for separately. Do the quick math and you'll find it isn't any cheaper here but a whole lot shadier. Please don't buy the nonprescription drugs/vitamins they're selling here. I saw plenty of bottles sitting in the sun, and though you might not see it baking on that day, how do you know it wasn't baking last week? Same goes for the piles and piles of no brand cosmetics. The Roadium isn't an Antique's Roadshow type of swap meet / flea market, as you generally won't find treasure here. It's mainly distressed goods, discounted staple items and inexpensive merchandise. Not so much collectibles nor valuables per se. Although, it's one of those places, unlike The Rose Bowl where there's too many sellers who market towards the collectors and it's near impossible to find a true hidden gem there, at The Roadium it may be like finding a needle in a haystack, but lets say if you went through a seller's CD's, VHS tapes, DVD's, toys,etc. you might be able to find something for $1 that is worth a whole lot more that's now out of print. But you need to know what you're looking for, for the most part, and have enough patience to sift through the massive often unorganized piles and stacks of stuff to find something noteworthy if you're a treasure hunter. It's very similar to the Alpine Village swap meet in that you'll find a lot of stuff that reminds you of the TV show "Sanford and Son" with used tools and random items (one person's trash is another person's treasure), and you might just find something that is otherwise hard to find or expensive if brand new here that does the job for you. It's open daily, but is an open air market, so your experience is contingent upon the weather. I like coming here for everyday items, such as disposable plates, cups and utensils as well as office supplies. They have lots of shoes and clothes, some are used and others brand new. Kids/Children's clothes and toys too. Parking is easy either in their lot or the satellite lot at El Camino College. Admission is affordable and it takes a good hour to walk the varied rows of vendors, so wear comfy shoes and bring your own ergonomic shopping bag to haul your finds. They do have food and snack vendors, but the local area also has restaurants in the surrounding neighborhood. read more

This review is for the Drive-In Theater: I recently found out about their drive-in movies and had to check this experience off my bucket list. When I read that they were planning a special screening with one of my all-time favorite movies I knew I could not miss it and it was then or never! The tickets are fairly priced at $25 per car. This venue is very well organized: we arrived 30 minutes before the movie started on a Friday after work and were able to get a spot on the second row right in front of the large screen. There is a small food court where people can purchase food but we brought our own as we felt there were not many healthy options. Everyone was wearing a mask when outside their cars - unfortunately there was not enough distance between cars. I was pleasantly surprised by the high cleaning standards of the restrooms- due to the large number of people in attendance at any given night, I was expecting a dirty bathroom but not only they had an impeccable protocol, they also cleaned the stalls after every visit. The only complaint I have is that the movie started almost an hour after the scheduled time. All in all, we had a great time, filled with nostalgia. read more
