One day over the holiday break, Regal Cinemas sent out an email to its Crown Club Members advertising an opportunity for 2,500 extra credits if you purchase tickets online *that same day* to see the Primate movie, which would come out on January 9. I usually don't purchases tickets online because they charge a convenience fee, which is only $2, but it's also non-refundable, so if you find out you're not able to see the movie for the time slot you purchased tickets for, you basically wasted $2 for nothing. This time, I made an exception since you'd normally have to spend $25 to earn that many credits. I was planning a day trip to South Bay on a Sunday and decided to check out the only Regal Cinemas in this neck of the woods. It's located in the Promenade on the Peninsula (Promenade | PV), a three-story shopping center in Rolling Hills Estates by Silver Spur Rd between Hawthorne and Crenshaw. The Regal is located on the third level on the eastern end of the Promenade. About 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, I entered the theater where I was greeted by an employee who was scanning customers' QR codes. I had the Regal app pulled up on my phone with a QR code for my movie ticket, but it didn't seem to work? She then asked to see my ticket, which was emailed to me. That ticket did have a QR code, which worked this time, and she directed me to the auditorium where the Primate movie was going to be shown. As I was walking to the theater, it seemed like a deserted theater! Nobody was in line at the concessions stand, and it seemed like no employees were manning that stand as well! The complete opposite of the Long Beach location the previous month where there was a long line to purchase tickets and snacks. I sat at a seat in the very last row, but most of the seats in that row had their armrests worn out! It kind of grossed me a bit that I didn't feel comfortable sitting at the seat I chose. Had I known that when I purchased my ticket, I would have chosen a seat somewhere else. Oh, how I wish the seating chart would show how raggedy the armrests of each seat were, but then again, I'm not sure how they could do that. Since the auditorium was mostly vacant, I chose the seat directly in front of my initially chosen seat, and the armrests there were in much better condition. But why the inconsistency of the armrests?? The sound and the video were great in the theater! It made for a nice viewing experience that if I had a bucket of popcorn in my lap, it would have been easy to drop one popped kernel, especially during the scary scenes! The movie didn't actually start until about 25-30 minutes past the scheduled start time. Commercials commenced about 8 minutes before the start time and lasted for about 10-15 minutes before going into the previews of other movies. The seats in the auditorium did recline, but the buttons aren't as high-tech compared to the Long Beach location. In the dark, the buttons are difficult to see, so there were a few times when the chair would recline or revert to its upright position because I'd accidentally press that button. They weren't the most comfortable, but at least it was good enough for me to enjoy watching the movie. Had I sat in the very back row with all those worn out armrests, I wouldn't have felt as comfortable. They have a game room in the near corner of the theater with some, but not a whole lot of, arcade games and claw machines. In terms of parking, the Promenade on the Peninsula has a multi-story parking garage that connects to the shopping center similar to The Source in Buena Park. Knowing that the theater was on the third level of the shopping center, I had parked on the third level of the parking structure, thinking I could get back to my car without having to take the stairs or an elevator. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that I would have had to park on the rooftop of the parking garage if I wanted to do so. Nevertheless, the parking garage was mostly vacant, even on a Sunday afternoon, so you really shouldn't have any difficulty finding parking here. It's a smaller theater that holds about a baker's dozen auditoriums, but with how empty it was on a Sunday afternoon, I think it could afford to drop a couple auditoriums if it helps cut down on overall cost of operations. I even saw an unattended bucket of popcorn sitting on a bench in the hallway. Sign of the times?! Overall, it's not a bad theater to go to, but it had to have seen better days when the shopping center had more patrons and the seats were in much better condition. I likely won't be back to this theater since I don't have much reason to go to Rolling Hills Estates. The next closest theaters I know would be AMC in Torrance and Starlight Terrace Cinemas in Ranchos Palos Verdes; you might have better luck at those theaters, but if Regal Promenade is closest to you, it's an okay option to catch a movie.

Who doesn't want to sit in a recliner to watch a good movie?! The Regal in PV is clean and well stocked in merchandise and treats to make the experience topnotch. How to get a ticket: - Buy tickets in person - Go online or use their App! - Reserve your seat too *Tip* Be sure to have your QR code ready to scan when entering the building The Screening Room: - Electric Reclining Chairs - When the chairs are fully reclined there is still room to walk past others in the rows - Each chair has a cup holder - Great sound system - The images on screen are clear Location: On the third story (top floor) of the mall. Parking: The Promenade has a massive three story garage, with plenty of open spaces. Unexpected: Our movie ticket time stated it started at 7 but didn't start until 7:30 because of Ads and Previews.

Stop Collin is a life savor!!! He helped us find my wallet!! Thank you Collin! Funny and kind :)

It's always worth the bit of an extra drive for us to come to this theatre. On Tuesdays if you a regal member, which it's free, you can get tickets for $7.99 on Tuesdays. I prefer paying the three extra dollars for the reclining chairs and clean environment. We came to watch Superman and everything went perfectly.

Took my money. No fun communists. I do not like this and I think that is stupid. I paid money and I want to watch the movie I paid for. Bullshit. Went to get a refund. Took forever. I want to go to AMC instead because they let you watch movies there. This place blows and they called me slurs. Hopefully won't be back for awhile.

super comfy seats. I love coming here for the secluded old timey vibes. Amazing service by the concessions. Worth driving out there

Been to this theater many times and I love the recliner seats but will say it's still a bit outdated compared to other theaters. We just saw Wicked and the sound was genuinely quiet and appeared that it was only coming from the front of the theater rather than it being surround sound which was disappointing. The seats are pretty comfy and we've always been able to get seats to all the movies we want to go to.

    Cassandra Y.

The Service: Good customer service. Staffs are very friendly. Staffs at the concession and cleaning crews are very efficient. The Theater: A little bit outdated (seats) but they keep the theater clean.

I love coming here, It's my favorite place to watch movies with the cousin or without. Today we saw Bad Boys Bad Boys what you going to do what you going to do when we come for you! Bad Boys Ride Or Die.

The seats are looking so tore up. Update please

Ask the Community - Regal Promenade

Do all the auditoriums in this theater have reclining seats?

The 3 auditoriums I've visited did not. But I don't know if that's true for all of them. I think I've been in only the smaller ones.…

    Do they sell alcohol?

    No they don't.

Does anyone know if *Weathering with you* is dubbed in English or spoken in japanese with english subtitle? I would hate for it to be dubbed.

Are you allow to bring pet to the cinema?

    No pets

    Does this theater serve alcohol?

    They don't :(

Does this theater have baby friendly showings?

Not sure if baby friendly but I have seen people bring babies in. I would bring some ear protection for the little one though. Gets loud in there.

    Discount tickets on Tuesdays?

Not any more since they put in the stadium seating. It they do have a senior citizen discount.

Went to see the Odyssey last night was expecting just to enjoy something in their reclining seats and what we got was an unexpected explosion in our ears. That sound is turned up so ridiculously loud it damages the ears. Our ears are still ringing, even though I stuffed paper in them and as well as putting fingers on top of that, it was so loud that it felt like explosions in my head going right through my skull into my ears. I couldn't stop it. We did leave early, but not early enough. I can't begin to tell you the contempt I have for these stupid stupid managers who somehow think this is OK. I went out into the lobby and mentioned it to the girl who gave us our tickets since there was no one else there and she said there's nothing they can do about it. There's absolutely nothing they can do to turn that down she said. really? This is the kind of place that should go out of business although I'll say that similar things have happened at the AMC theaters in Torrance. I don't get it...but there's just no excuse for it.

Otherwise you will be waiting in a huge line and may be fighting for a good spot, so you can be far away from the we*d smokers or smokers of any kind, if you are a nonsmoker like we are . Prices are still cheap. Only $14 for general admission (12 and older). Way better than walk in theater general admission prices. Pretty sure ticket prices are cash. So make sure you have cash for tickets. We came to see Mortal Kombat II. Which was amazing. I never saw the first movie. But you don't have to have seen the first to follow this movie. One reason I wanted to see this movie is Mortal Kombat II is my favorite video game (SNES) version of the MK video games. The best place to see an action movie is on the massive drive-in theater movie screen. Not Imax, etc. So we went here. Another great thing about drive in theaters is you can bring your own food and you can have privacy with your date inside your vehicle, if you know what I mean . Just have privacy glass. Because a family of kids can be parked next to your vehicle. If you want, you can bring chairs and sit outside your vehicle and watch. Which is also a great choice. Especially if you have kids. They will love sitting outside. If you do sit outside, bring a coat, blanket, etc. It gets cold at night. The concession is cheap af and not like walk in movie theater prices. For example, their large popcorn is huge. Yet its only $10 with taxes. We got ours with extra butter. They offer a lot of other good stuff too at great prices. But we only wanted warm popcorn with extra butter. I saw some raggedy ATM machines in there. Not sure if concession got them there so you can use cash to buy food. But I didn't ask as I already had some cash on me to buy popcorn. So make sure you bring cash for concession as well. Make sure you vehicle radio can tune to 90.1 FM and you can leave it on without it draining your battery and without parking/headlights being activated. It drives us movie goers crazy when some foolish person will turn on their headlights while everyone else is trying to enjoy the film. Also, if you need a radio for showing, you can buy one from them for $20 at concession. Great experience here. I love this place. Like I said, I havent been here in like 6 years. Last time I was here, one ticket paid for double feature. Which was a steal. Because after Mortal Kombat II, I was looking forward to seeing Michael again. Which we already saw at a walk in theater. But we were ready to see it again on the biggest screen ever. They dont do double features anymore. So if the website shows two movies, dont misread like I did. It clearly says: "TICKETS ARE FOR A SINGLE SHOW TIME ONLY." I was wondering why everyone was leaving after Mortal Kombat II was over . We stayed in vehicle until security drove by and told us they only do single features. We weren't the only ones he had to tell. Great experience here. Cant wait to see another larger than life movie here.

Somehow there was always one ingredient missing... the truck, the timing, or the friends willing to do it.Last night it finally happened.I convinced two of my guy friends to go with me -- one visiting from Missouri and one from Temecula -- and we were all ridiculously excited. We honestly didn't think we were going to make it because our movie didn't start until 11 PM, but we pushed through. We had a bonfire first, and right as it turned 11 and we were getting ready to leave, I tripped, fell, and sprained my ankle. Worst timing ever. But if there's one thing about me, I do not like bailing on plans. I said nope, we're still going. We were just going to be sitting anyway, all cuddled up in the back of the truck with blankets and pillows, so I powered through. I tried really hard to get comfortable, and even with the ankle situation, it was still such a fun experience. This one is definitely going down in the memory books. There's just something so nostalgic and special about a drive-in movie. It feels like one of those classic '80s activities that hardly exists anymore, which honestly makes me sad. I'm so glad we finally did it, and I would absolutely do it again. If you've been thinking about doing a drive-in movie night, take this as your sign. Do it.

Yes, there was literally dancing on graves going on here. The gravestones were interesting to read while we waited for the performance to start. Most of them were from a hundred years ago! The doors opened at 6:30 and the performance and movie started at 9, giving the audience time to enjoy a picnic or visit the food trucks parked in the graveyard. (Now that's a phrase I never thought I would write.) Four food trucks were there next to the port-a-potties. I didn't see anything saying that you could or couldn't bring alcohol, but a lot of people had alcohol out in the open, so I guess it's okay. Our neighbors even popped a bottle of champagne.
