This is my go to theatre when I'm visiting family. Purchasing tickets through the app and/or making changes to times/seats have always been a breeze. The only thing is that reception isn't always that great here, so sometimes the app glitches and/or loads slowly. The popcorn here is usually good. There's a butter station with extra butter, if needed/wanted, as well as some condiments for other purchases. I miss the paper containers that they used to have - it was a nice lap mat to put all my snacks/popcorn on without worrying about getting stains on my clothes. There is a huge parking lot all around the theatre, but it is shared with many other retail/restaurants. On weekends/holidays and some random nights, it can get really packed and is hard to find parking close by. read more

Finally got a free day to myself and watched the movie Wicked For Good. Matinee plus senior discount ticket was $10.50 , and I got to pick my seat. The concession stand is a must for me, a regular small popcorn and a drink set me back about $15. We went to see Materialists last night! 10/10 but we do love Dakota Johnson! My mom is 83 and we "need" to sit together the very kind attendant did his magic and made that happen! I'm forever grateful! We have been coming here since they opened! My grandmother worked here on these grounds when it was aerospace as an executive secretary so we have alot of history in Downey I'm just so blessed we live I. A co.munity that cares! Recently I purchased $50 Cinemark gift cards for $40 at Costco and I had no issue using the gift card with no gimmicks (will need to create a new Cinemark account if you don't have one). [Parking]: Not a fan of parking situation as the lot can get pretty packed during busy weekends. Try to find parking spots near Lazy Dog for better luck. [Ticket & seating]: While I do appreciate their reclining seats, I actually had a bit of difficult time finding my seat number as number for seat label was not super discrete. [Conclusion]: Was it worth $14 for a reserved reclining seat with mediocre parking experience? Was able to watch Lilo and Stitch last week with a fairly big group, and we had no trouble coming here together after parking in the structure. Good to note that parking is free!!! It was my first time at this theater branch, and nothing struck out of the ordinary for me. It was your usual typical theatre experience. The line for the snacks and concessions didn't take too long and I was able to snag the special edition promotional items that Cinemark offered!! I got a How to Train your Dragon popcorn bucket (which was detailed and intricate) and also got a Toothless sipper. The restrooms were clean and the chairs were easily comfortable. 4++ this location is nested within a pretty large shopping center area. It's also a pretty large theater so you have a pretty good amount of screens. I think at least some of the screens have recliners if not all. I can see that this place is pretty high traffic because the vibe here is that it's kinda central to the area in the people that live in the neighborhood. The concessions area is organized, and the people are friendly. Because of its location and the shopping around this place gets pretty good amount of traffic. But it's still easy to find parking because of the large lots. read more

On the evening of November 3rd, I purchased tickets to see "Shelby Oaks" for the 10:35 PM showing. I arrived at the theater at 9:30 PM and was excited to enjoy some snacks during the movie. A few of us arrived at 9:35 am as our movie starts at 10:15 am. We attempt to knock on the doors at 9:45 am to see if we could be let in for the concession stand at least. The employees see us standing at the door but even as we asked one to come to the door so we could confirm the time they open, they stood there laughing amongst each other and starring at us as we were still ignored. It's now 9:55 am and still no one has opened the doors. They've indeed lost a few customers. read more

Where have you been all of my life, Cinemark? I love this theater. It's my first time after being a long time customer to AMC. By far, this place is amazingly great. I think this is going to be our new movie spot. So long AMC! This place was clean, the seats were comfortable. My popcorn and drink arrived at exactly the start of the movie. The place was busy and the staff carried a smile. The restrooms were immaculately clean. The security were awesome. They were helpful and oh so friendly. Popcorn can't top AMC but the sofa fountain drink was delicious. This place had so many condiments. I loved the way their lines flowed. It made for quick service. Customers weren't rowdy. The movie did start late. Not sure if there was some type of mechanical issues but no harm, no foul. We will be back soon. Prices are affordable and make you want to come back repeatedly. read more

I fell in love with this Cinemark when it first opened, and I've fallen in love with it all over again. Having a Starbucks inside is already a huge win for me, but what really stands out is how well they maintain the theater -- it always feels clean and new even after being open for years. They recently upgraded the seating, and the new heated seats are amazing. I'm always cold in theaters, so this is honestly the best thing ever. This is our go-to movie theatre, being from long beach we always make the drive up to watch movies here. Parking is free and there are a lot of restaurants and shops to enjoy. The place is always clean and well organized with an array of snacks and drinks. I love that everything is always stocked and we never have to wait long for our popcorn. I love coming here for movies, their club membership makes sense if you go once a month. This location has ample parking, but the Downey Landing tends to be a very busy plaza. The customer service is good and they keep their food court clean. The arcade is okay, but you need a card to get credits on you can't use coins. The theatres are comfortable, but what really bothers me is the smell the wafts from the chairs and carpets. The odor is unpleasant in most of the theaters. read more

I've been coming here, on and off, for a few years now. I don't think I've ever had any negative experiences during any of my previous visits. The movie theaters are clean, the XD theaters are a great experience, and their concession/snack area is usually pretty on point. The employees are usually pretty friendly and professional as well. I really like that Cinemark theaters show a lot of the anime movies. Watching anime at home is nice and all, but I'd really rather have the movie theater experience for anime movies. And, with their monthly membership that gives you a free ticket, that's stackable, each month; it pretty much pays for itself. I think I would just change their hot dog supplier honestly. The meat has this weird, "chemically" aftertaste that I don't really like. If I'm going to pay $6-$7 for a hot dog, I would definitely expect higher quality meat. That being said: the popcorn tastes fresh, the pretzel bites are really yummy, and the nachos aren't too bad either. I think I would prefer a less salty tortilla chip though, since the nacho cheese already tastes very savory. (Btw, the Cinemark membership gives you 20% on concession items!) Overall, Cinemark has a better movie going experience compared to AMC, Regal, and Krikorian. Definitely going to keep watching movies at Cinemark theaters for a long time to come. read more

My issue with this manager is not the fact that there was "no change" as a business owner we always have change just in case a client/customer pays with a large bill, is the attitude she had and the way she spoke to my husband telling him to go the bank and get change himself, we are not kids we are grown folks you do not speak to customers in that way, the manager had change she just didn't want to bother the $100 bill. We came here on Sunday for a private screening of Gran Turismo. The whole check in process was smooth. The host had snack packs for the kiddos which included popcorn, soda and fruit snacks. Because it was a private screening there was no previews so that was nice. The seats are comfortable and the theatre was very spacious. I was a little disappointed to see they charge for jalapeños now. The parking can also be a little hectic so give yourself time. read more

Only because my niece really wanted to go to the movies did I bring her to this horrible movie theater called the Cinemark. I truly cannot believe how disorganized this place is. Is this place going through an ownership change? New management? How can they STILL have these small bowl/plates that are to be used for sharing popcorn when it can seriously only hold a fistful of popcorn? They also don't have any trays or drink holders. I asked if they had anything to carry everything and I was given a shopping bag. REALLY???? It's always been said that movie theaters make their money off of the concessions they sell, hence the ridiculous price of popcorn. Yet this place takes advantage of their customers by hiking up prices, NOT giving refills, and then saying, it's not their problem if you can't carry a drink and popcorn back to your seats. Went to a First Access to watch Demon Slayer that started at 7:15pm (the closest one to me that was doing first access) I got there at seven thinking they were gonna start selling the cups and buckets at that time but they said they started selling them that morning and was sold out :) I thought they were gonna be like AMC who were gonna sell them to people who had tickets to the actual movie especially to the first access one. As a Cinemark Movie Club Member, there are not that many perks other than the following: "1 ticket every month. Unused ticket credits roll over and never expire for active members. 20% off concessions every visit. Waived online ticketing fees for every transaction. Member pricing for additional tickets. PLUS all the benefits of Movie Fan." The main reason I signed up for the membership was to waive ticketing fees. Since there was a Cinemark within reasonable distance it would be convenient and we could watch all the upcoming movies for the kids on the big screen. Both my children have sensory sensitivities (ex. loud sounds, lights, and certain scenes). When it becomes overwhelming we just leave the theater. I know my children and know what to expect when we watch movies. I am sure all parents/caregivers who have children with special needs can relate. Cinemark Downey does not have the cleanest theaters. We often watch the earlier showings to avoid the crowds and for some reason our seats are either sticky or left with trash from moviegoers from the previous day. Seats are uncomfortable and I do my best to keep the kids from leaving their seats. Food selection is not the greatest either. Nachos and hot dogs are in the warmer (imagine 7 Eleven quality) and then cold/inedible popcorn without flavor. There's a few ice cream selection in their mini freezer as well. Even their concession area is dirty and sticky. As long as I have the Cinemark Movie Club membership, I will continue to watch movies with my kids. I just have low expectations for the theaters to be cleaned and my movie experience to be satisfactory. Our next movie is Moana 2 showing in theaters November 27, 2024! read more
