I'm writing to leave a very negative review for this landscaping company. They performed work at my neighbor's property, but the impact spilled over into ours in several serious ways. First, workers were smoking in the backyard, which made it impossible for us to keep our windows open--especially concerning because we have young children. Second, they blew moss and yard debris into our yard rather than containing or cleaning up the mess. It was left for us to deal with. On top of that, the crew was extremely loud and used profanity while talking to each other. When I attempted to address the issue by calling their office and speaking with the workers, it was clear they were unwilling or unable to communicate respectfully or reason through the problem. Overall, I'm disappointed with their professionalism, work practices, and basic respect for surrounding properties. I would not recommend this company to anyone who wants considerate service and proper cleanup. read more

We hired Reese Landscapes to install an entire lawn sprinkler system. We were living in Colorado at the time and wasn't able to supervise the install. They installed the sprinklers in the middle of the lawn which only sprayed the fence. Had to bring Mitch out to redesign and reinstall the sprinklers. Payed $6,000 for horrible workmanship and several issues. Then, we find out they cut through home drainage 1" PVC lines which led to water backing up on our lawn. Paid $1,300 for a contractor to repair the lines. I spoke to them, sent the before/after pictures of the repair and got no response. No even a sorry. This is easily the worst service, worksmanship, most costly, and zero customer service. Do not do business with them. read more

I really wanted to leave a good review for them, but I just can't. I called to get an estimate and I was so impressed with how friendly and prompt they were. I believe It was Mitch who came out that afternoon, listened to what I needed and said he'd send a quote. He was reassuring and confident and I absolutely wanted to do business with them after that meeting. I love that it's a family run business, and his confidence made me feel confident In them. The estimate for sprinklers was reasonable. The variable being the replacement cost of the two valves, which I wanted done as they leaked. Those were not on the estimate and I called and was told it would be added to the bill once the service was done. I also wanted a thatch, overseed and fertilize on my small front lawn. The estimate for this was pretty high but since they did sprinklers too I decided to do it. I was quoted $285 for the yard, $65 for the sprinkler repair which would take less than an hour altogether, and valve costs would vary- $25-$45 dollars per valve depending on what they used. Due to the fires I waited about 2 weeks to make the appointment. When I made the appointment, I asked again on the timing to ensure it was still within a good window for lawn growth- as the temperatures were much lower at that point and heavy rain was in the forecast- I was told it was great and nothing to worry about and a crew would be out the next day- which they were. The sprinkler valves which were leaking were not replaced. The sprinkler service was less than an hour, and the timer wasn't even set right. I had to fix that days later. The grass seeding took less than an hour for one guy. Nothing was placed over the seed. Per my conversation with Mitch I was under the impression it would be a couple guys, and a couple hours worth of work (so the $285 price tag made more sense). I called immediately about both things- I was told the tech could come out the next day to replace the two valves I had initially asked to be replaced, and that no peat moss was needed over the seed. I brought up the expected rain- and was told it would be fine. There was no mention of additional charges. The tech came out the next day and he fixed the valve quickly. I verified he replaced both and he said he only had one valve with him so just replaced the one that was leaking. I wanted both replaced since they were doing it so i didn't need to deal with it again. I was very clear about that. I don't think it was his issue- I think it was a communication issue to him. He offered to come out again the next day but I declined because I was annoyed, and the one wasn't leaking. The next day, we had a huge rain. And sure enough- all of my grass seed washed away. Of course it did- because it was just thrown on the bare ground with no cover. I contacted Reese and questioned this, hoping they'd offer to make it right as I had brought up the weather and a covering multiple times. At least partially my fault here- because after explaining the issue I asked what kind of grass seed was used and confirmed peat moss was the proper covering. Renelle did reply with the seed type and where to buy it and confirmed peat moss. I shouldn't have asked this- I should have requested they redo the work properly. I was hoping that they would offer to make it right, especially with the sprinkler miscommunication and my multiple conversations about the potential weather and having the seed covered up- but no. So that my money wasn't completely wasted, I bought seed myself, reseeded it myself, and covered it in peat moss. So thankfully my lawn did fill in quickly. But this was not due to their work, as the grass seed they laid all washed away. I was willing to just let it go, and probably would've left a 3 star review overall, as I realize now that I should've been more insistent on the estimate reflecting the valve replacement and not just letting the multiple verbal conversations suffice- as well as my error in asking about the seed instead of insisting they fix their work. This was my first time dealing with a contractor, and an absolute lesson for me. But then I got my bill, and I can't let it go and leave an ok review. They charged me for the second day to come out and fix the sprinkler valve. Not just the valve cost, which was expected, but labor to come back out when it could've and should have been fixed during the hour they were there the day prior, AS DISCUSSED. And of course they charged me for the most expensive valve. I've called and emailed with no response. I feel like I was taken advantage of, and they have no desire to deal with me anymore. I don't want to deal with them either to be honest. I can not recommend anyone use Reese Landscapes after this experience. If you do decide to use them- make sure your estimate is 100% accurate and don't let them just verbally assure you if anything. Get everything in writing! read more

This may be the worst company I've ever dealt with. They were prompt to come out to give an estimate, but it went downhill from there. I was told they would schedule the project right away, then never heard back. Their service was horrid. I called about a dozen times after the estimate to schedule because I had a major surgery coming up, and finally they sent someone out. BUT, they didn't even do the work I requested, the work they did was very poor quality, and they double charged for things that were supposed to be included in the quote. I tried repeatedly to get them to fix it, but then suddenly I get a notice that they sent my bill out for collections! They never did fix it. DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY. Reese did a lawn removal & haul away, followed by installation of geotextile and mulch. A few weeks after completion grass began to grow through the geotextile and mulch on half of the yard. We pointed this out to Mitch Reese when he came to estimate a separate project. He stated he had never seen this happen before and said it should be redone. When we got the estimate for the new project there was no mention of redoing the first one. We made several phone calls to the office and repeatedly explained to Renelle Reese what the issue was and to please have Mitch call us. We got no calls from Mitch. Because grass was growing rapidly and we had no confidence that the company could or would fix the failed project, we began redoing the job ourselves. We will never hire Reese Landscapes again. read more

We have many options for Landscape and. Garden Services. I believe our realtor recommended Reese Landscapes when we moved in. We knew nobody. Mitch, an owner, came out and took lots of time to see what we needed. Well of course, the lawn mowed, trimmed, weed removal, clean-up work,, etc, as our place was really looking compared to the rest of the homes in our neighborhood. He and his guys goy on that pronto, then we needed him back to get a plan down the road. He had excellent ideas, let us know what to avoid and was just a nice guy. His workers are good guys and work their tails off. Robert is here rain or shine and ALWAYS goes the extra mile for us. I would be confident and truthful to recommend Reese Landscapes to anyone. We never have to look further and I'm one picky, critical customer. read more

Not only was Mitch professional, but he took his time in explaining to me all parts of the process and was eager to answer any of my questions. They were able to get us on the schedule quickly and at an extremely fair rate. Reese Landscapes expert crews have been nothing but friendly and professional. Their work speaks for itself. I hired this company to help me with a backyard design where I wanted to have a Japanese style backyard. I added several more Japanese maples after the initial consultation which I knew would take a little more time to plant. I used one of their designers to help me even though it cost extra. I will say that he did a very good job with the planting and designing part. So why am I giving this company a one star. First, whenever you call this company you never get anyone that answers the phone, their voice message says they take lunch from 12 to 1 pm, but even when you call early morning no one will answer the phone. It takes a few days to hear back if they do get back with you. 2) The first day of the work project a young kid was one of the helpers who didn't want to work. They don't compared with tools and because they didn't have a particular item one goes to hardware to get it leaving the young kid just sitting on a curb looking at his cell phone. He was given instructions on what to work on while the other guy went to hardware store. 3) One day after shortly arriving to start working for not even an hour and not even close to lunch, I couldn't figure out why I hadn't seen them working on my yard after nearly an hour I looked out my from door and saw both men sleeping in truck. Apparently they heard me open the door and the guy says oh got kind of groggy driving from Eugene. I don't pay hourly for people to sleep when they just started work, especially if they just arrived . 4) They haven't finished the job that they started and there wasn't that much left to do. I tried calling them twice and never received a call back. I know they was on Christmas break, and then the ice storm and still no call back. The guys who was working on this project knew there was a little more work to do following Christmas break. So, if you want a company that sends guys not prepared for the work project or will come and sleep once they arrive ( not even lunch time yet) and doesn't finish the job the this company is the place for you. I was so disappointed in knowing how this company does business and would recommend using them. read more

First we were told that someone would be over the same morning to walk around and see what needed to be done. After sitting around until afternoon, we finally had a visit. Ok I get that stuff happens but a call would have been nice. We received a quote for 32 man hours. I showed the crew pictures of what I wanted. What I got was 5 debris piles left in the flower beds. 3 areas not even touched. We were offered another 20 hours because they didn't realize just how much work was needed. (Isn't that the reason they send someone to see what needs to be done?) Today they came over. They were polite, I again showed them pictures of what I expected. I very specifically asked that they remove all the debris. After the first 30 min they took a long break. I was outside most of the time they "worked".No one hand weeded. The used a weed eater to chop everything off. I asked for a plant to be removed. Nope still there. I came outside near the end of the time, and there were 3 flipping people weeding the flipping street. Not picking up the lawn debris, not cutting the branches of the trees off the house that was specifically mentioned in the bid. I at no time said yeah "weed the street cuz I want to pay for that." I told my parents to NEVER call these people again. No work ethics, at all. I had heard so much good and am seriously disappointed. read more

I wish I would have looked at the reviews before I hired these guys! I wanted a lawn drain to get rid of excess rainwater that backed up onto the sidewalk and into the back garage door. Also replace 2 existing old wood 6'x10' garden boxes with new, higher boxes. Mitch estimated $3430 for this work. I had him estimate some further work for another $2210, for resetting a flagstone walkway in fine gravel (already in place), install river rock along a section of the patio, and install fiber lawn edging around the fence and mulch gardens front and back. Long story short, the first guy came out alone on the first day. Said he was the carpenter to do the garden boxes, but he was instructed to do the french drain first! He finished an excellent french drain after the first day of false starts. But unknown to me, two other guys (the new crew) started work on the front and side lawn edging removing ALL the existing board instead of just the west side as agreed. Ran string lines to define the straight edges, then ignored that and installed the crookedest stuff you can imagine. Pushed a corner lawn sprinkler down into the dirt and installed edging over the broken sprinkler. The carpenter never came back to install his prebuilt garden box sections. The same crew ran a stringline, then proceeded to assemble the garden boxes out of alignment and visibly out of level. I had them redo it all. The flagstones were replaced out of alignment so that had to be redone. The edging is still a mess - I deducted $500 and paid the remainder of the total $6033 invoices. That includes many hours labor they spent redoing shoddy workmanship. read more

Doesn't the company train these people in how to use a rake, broom or dustpan? It's ridiculous. I could do their work without the noise in shorter time. Used their online scheduling system to have someone come out and look at some yard work for us, but didn't get a reply after two weeks. Then we called, and the person answering was very nice and scheduled us for a visit within a few days. Great! The appointed day and time came...and went. No one showed, no one called to reschedule or explain, or...business must be good, because ours sure didn't matter. Reese's just did a house across from my house. They blew the leaves off their work area down to the property line and left the leaves and debris. Then the leaves and crap that collected under their truck and trailer tail gate they just left. While the tailgate was on the ground it collect a nice pile. Just some insight how the job went. I had gotten a bid to have my lawn aerated and thatched. The bid was for $495.00. I thought  I was good with the bid so I made the mistake of accepting it with out a competitive bid.  Turns out the job was a bit over 2 hours 2 guys.  $250.00 per hour. I was in the wrong business. Very disappointed in the expertise of the gent that gave me the bid. My trust was taken advantage of.  As for the job to fix a leak in my water system. The poor guys that came had no idea what they were here for other than to start up my system. They had no parts with them for the easy repair, which they knew nothing about. Took them over an hour and a half to go get the parts. Be the looks of the bill and the time charged, you charge the same per hour rate for 2 guys going to get parts as working in the system.I do feel they were heavy on the charged time. Lucky I called to confirm the appointment the day before my job was be done. I was not on the roster to be done the next day. Quite the fiasco to get someone out here on that appointment.         Hope someone reads this that gives a HOOT.    All in all a poor experience. read more

These guys took over from the company that originally had the contract...they eventually folded and Reese took over - no new contract. We went month by month, and it seemed to work OK. The work done by the crews was pretty much hit-and-miss, with a few exceptions. There's a HUGE problem trying to contact the business office - they almost never return phonecalls...I find this very exasperating. In light of the inability to reach the office, I can't recommend Reese Landscapes. read more

Our neighbor hired this company to complete a fence between our two properties.. where should I start? They dumped all the old fence boards, brackets and nails in our driveway, blocking our garage. They never asked or communicated. After a nasty voicemail left on the third day, they removed the debris. The workers told the owner they had asked permission and talked with us, which was a lie. The owner defended them. The fence is a complete joke. Nothing is level and about 90% of the fence was over a foot off the ground, leaving sufficient room for kids and dogs to get under. Half the fence is blocked off and parts are built on a tier. It's hideous and clearly they have never built a fence before. They stomped all of our shrubs, left concrete from new posts all over our sprinklers, left debris from the neighbors yard in ours, and accessed our hose from our porch and left it in the middle of the yard. When I contacted the owner, she defended them and then had the unprofessional response that her workers would not be back to finish because the "contract" is more than what they thought. She told me she was afraid she wouldn't get paid. I live in the SW hills in a well to do community. Your work is poor, your workers barely showed up and were not truthful and your company is unprofessional. I will NEVER recommend your company for anything! read more

worst landscape company in eugene. turnover rate for employees is about 80% every 6 months. they'll do low quality work and overcharge you. mitch is a good salesman who will tell you whatever you want to hear and then provide a terrible over-priced service. renelle steals money from her employees paychecks, makes them buy things out of pocket (gas, seed, etc) and then doesnt reimburse. heard this from numerous people i know who have worked there. please try any other landscape service. i wish i could leave 0 stars. read more

2 weeks before the work was to start, Reese backed out of building a fence. They claimed they weren't going to make enough money from the deal. Wouldn't honor their bid, and wouldn't call us back to redo the bid, as they should have. If you underbid the job, and then realize you aren't going to make enough profit, then call and rework the bid. There was no deadline on the bid. Signed by all parties. Bad business practice to just cancel, without any further conversation. All phone calls and e mails went unanswered. One letter, returning the deposit check, and stating they weren't going to make enough profit....... read more

This company has the poorest customer service of just about any company I have had dealings with over the last 50+ of home ownership. Failure to return phone calls, failure to respond to messages and materials left at the business office and failure to show-up on-site to discuss problems and, FINALLY, just never coming back to finish the job are just some of the issues. They began the job without completing the finalization of the contract so I had no idea what was going on when someone showed up and started building the walk-way with materials we had never discussed. After trying to do the job without the knowledge on HOW to do the job and having to start over 3 times to try to fix what they were doing wrong, they left it. The steps are totally unacceptable. They are of concrete slabs never intended to be used as steps and, most egregious of all, they ARE NOT UP TO CODE. Should we decide to sell our home, we're both 75, we would be forced to tear up most of the work Reese did because of code issues. I am disabled and needed a safe way to go approximately 20-25 feet to my small deck and greenhouse. Every trip up and down is really scary because of the concrete "steps" that are about 11/2" high, just high enough to be a tripping hazard. Reese knew this when the steps were installed and when they just walked off the job instead of doing it properly. This whole discussion doesn't even touch on the upper portion of the project!! It is a mess. They cut off the edge of the upper garden and just left it. There is a 2-21/2" difference between the driveway and the small deck surface. It's a broken arm waiting to happen on a very, very obvious tripping hazard. What recourse do I have? Probably not much. The company has not responded to any of my concerns. I will likely need to hire someone else to fix the poorly planned and poorly executed project. The LCB and CCB will be getting my complaint. Maybe that will save others from getting such a bad deal. read more

They came out and saw what was required, bid the job. They tried to do the work, replacing a concrete wall with diamond blocks, but canceled the job after I sent a concerned email. They did give us a full refund of our down payment. So you can decide if this is a good review or not. They kind of wasted our time though. read more

I had contacted this company in February and sought an estimate for new sod. They were slow to get me an estimate and I let their office know that I was going with another company and their office manager acknowledged my decision. To my surprise, while I was out of state in April, I found a hangtag on my door upon my return stating that this company had entered my property and sprayed with some kind of chemical for "lawn and moss treatment.". I had not authorized this treatment. I called their office twice upon my return and told them that I had no agreement with their company for this and not to return to my property. I received no response to either of these phone messages. I then received an invoice for these unauthorized "services." I am beyond frustrated that they have trespassed upon my property and sprayed with unknown chemicals without my permission and have chosen not to respond to my phone messages. I wouldn't have anything to do with them, now or in the future. read more

I've even took matters into my own hands and called them to gave it a second and third chance to only be further disappointed. How can a business subsist in such an unprofessional-rude manner? We decided to contact Reese Landscaping to service and maintain our lawn. Mitch came out and gave us an estimate. We decided to go with Reese. I  contacted them in March to set up the schedule for lawn care. Mitch came out again and gave us an estimate to do the spring clean up before the regular maintenance and to have our sprinkler system  fixed.  He said he would send me an email and schedule an appt. We did not receive one. I called again, Renelle said I just needed to let them know when we were ready to start. I informed her that we were ready to go. No phone call....the crew just showed up to fix the sprinklers. After the sprinklers were fixed, we wanted to schedule the clean up. I had to call 3 times to get that done. The estimate was for $720.00 (per Mitch). The crew showed up and worked hard all day. We did a walk through after they were done. When we got the bill, it was for over $2000.00 and we were charged for 2 days work. I told Renelle that they were only here for 1 day. She told me I was wrong....they were here for 2 days. My husband argued with her, but to no avail.  Finally, we agreed to split the difference on the 2nd day bill. So what was supposed to cost $720 ended up costing over $1500.00. We left on a trip with the idea that our lawn would be mowed and cared for.  When we arrived home after 4 weeks, we were appalled to see that nothing had been done. Our grass was about 1 foot tall and there were weeds everywhere.  There were so many problems with this company. They took a month to get back to repair our patio which they had moved to fix the sprinklers and then they gave us a bill for it. Do not do business with this company. read more

This estimate started at the end of April when we wanted the design switched I requested a second measurement when Mitch came out he was smiling to my face talking to me about life and about the job and stuff very friendly and then it turns out he goes back and tells them we're not gonna do this basically we won't make money(Renelle said). For a week I waited for the estimate after three or four emails requesting can I have the estimate and I was told you could get it today(Monday) or by tomorrow well now it's Wednesday and I didn't get it and then Renell calls me and tells me we are going to charge same price even though the job is smaller. she's like yeah we won't make a profit that much and we're in the business to make a profit (said that 3-4times). And we rather do fence jobs we're strong at meaning wood not the chainlink I wanted. And there trying to teach mitch to focus on wood fencing not metal. She said I am so sorry if there's anything I can do to help you let me know. Yes she could have given me the estimate for the smaller job. they were going to give a military discount but how are you going to charge the same price for half the fence and everybody knew that they were not going to do this job and no one contacted me so now all the other landscapers I contacted turned me down cause they're so far out and the other ones are months out now when I started this they were only three weeks out they wasted my time now my child won't have a backyard because the dog goes everywhere. She had the nerve to say well if you don't find anybody come September or the winter you know when my guys are hungry and want to be fed and need a job give us a call. no it does not work that way you messed up she even acknowledge that they did. She said I guess we messed up we're still new at this. But that's not my (the customer) fault. The customer shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes and neither should my child. read more

Reese landscapes claims to be a family oriented business with high quality work and they also claim to treat their employees well. But that is just not the case. After working hard for them for years and moving up to running crews and doing anything they asked of me. I still wasnt making enough to support my family so I made a career move to further myself and my family. Renelle and Mitch Reese wouldn't let me finish my last two weeks when I gave notice and then would not pay me all my sick pay I had earned. Unprofessional, selfish, and not very good to their own people. Two thumbs down. Also, they have pretty bad customer service and wont keep their word. Beware dealing with Reese landscapes. read more
