Finally a wine bar in Kent, located in Kent Station the new retail center in the heart of Old Kent. A cozy feeling place with great food. Try the assorted cheese and meat dishes. The service is overall good but I think being only there for 4 month they are still getting the hang of things but a very friendly staff. When the place is busy it is hard to find a seat but otherwise hit the bar stools at the bar you can always find a seat or two. Great area with couch and fireplace for comfort. This will be the place for my wife and I to hang out. A classy place that is not the sport bar feel but still a place to have fun to meet good people. read more

A wonderful wine bar in the heart of Kent Station! My boyfriend and I went here before going to a movie for a drink and some light food. We were not disappointed! The owner was so kind and outgoing (he is also a fellow Coug, which earns him points). The atmosphere is dark and very intimate -it's the perfect place for date night. I ordered the red wine they had on Happy Hour ($5) and their tomato basil soup. The soup came with the best croutons, which were clearly made in house. Really great place! Awesome atmosphere, great service, amazing food and wine!!!! I recommend reservations, luckily we made some, and got seated right away. I have been going to Red's since it opened 2 years ago. I went in last week on a date night with my husband because I was wanting a food that used to be on the menu. I went in and I was very disappointed that the menu and ambiance had changed. I was less than whelmed in the wine menu too. I went to Red's for the low key relaxed wine bar, that had good comfort foods and now it feels like all they want to do there is make money (crammed in more tables) and not have a good variety in wines. I think I will be looking around for a new place to tip my glass. read more

Its funny because when someone says that they don't have a good variety in wines usually mean they want something cheap or more like Boones Farm. One thing to consider when reviewing these reviews that this REDS is not the same one as 2012's Reds. It's under new management. And yes it has been revamped. Good or bad? As far as the wine selection, ALL the wines are good. It wasn't that bad before (sorrry Nick) but all the wines have been carefully selected and usually the wines you cannot get in the supermarket (which is always a plus, sorry World Market). So it's not that there is not a good variety but a great management/staff handpicked selection of mostly Washington wines (with some California selections). If you get to know Tim, he is an EXCELLENT sommelier as well as your server. The food! There were some good selections under the previous menu. But Pizza Dip?? C'mon now (sorry Nick). Well that's gone now. I admit I liked it before but it's really NOT wine bar material. What you have now are great previews of a great restaurant with tasty morsels ranging from gourmet truffle-oiled white popcorn to shrimp linguini. Mind you, this place is not a restaurant but it serves high-end quality restaurant foods. As I said, a preview. On occasion, there are also specials like bacon-wrapped dates or mahi-mahi tacos. My go-to favorite is the Italian flatbread. Yummy stuff. The ambience has changed as well. It's a little more wide open spaced and more inviting this way. The hub of the place is still the "red" bar. But the old Reds still echoes in the new one. The Pay It Forward Wall (a great idea by the way) is still there. The dartboard is kind of a new thing but it adds a quaint charm to the area. The live venues are awesome and if you've been to Vino at the Landing, you'll know the live music vibe then. As for someone's comment about adding more tables to make more money....c'mon on now....it's still a business. The Reds before was good but I think this time, it's gotten better with some age and refinement. Give it a try. I know I liked it then and even more so now. Cheers! read more

I've been to Reds Wine Bar on two occasions and both times were okay. I like that it's a smaller venue with low lighting so it feels more intimate and romantic. When a friend and I stopped by on Saturday evening, there was a live duo playing some sweet Jazz music. That made the place really loud. Interestingly, though, it was the chatter of people talking that I heard more than the music. I had a glass of red wine and the mac and cheese while my friend ordered the salmon crostini special (I think that's what it was called - not too sure). We shared and both small plates were very delicious. However, the service on this occasion was extremely slow. It was around 10PM on a Saturday evening so they must have been getting ready to close up. It wasn't particularly crowded, but it took about 10 minutes for our server to take our order and another 10 minutes before we received our drinks. I remember service being slow on my first visit as well. Overall, my experience there has been okay, and I may return on another evening with live music. read more

Came here on a Sunday night for dinner, we were greeted and told to sit wherever. After we sat, it took a few minutes before we were given menus. There are 4 appetizer options, 4 salad options and 4 entree options and I wasn't very impressed with any of it. Wines are about $11 a glass. I chose the Pinot Noir, which was good but that was the only highlight of the dinner. It was a slow night and there were only two people working. We were the only table there at one point, so I don't know why I had to walk to the bar and wait for about 5 minutes before someone came out to give me my bill. I wanted to like this place because it has great reviews but I didn't. It seems like this place has changed based on what I read. read more

If there is a large party next to you, you will not be able to have a normal conversation. If there is a large party in the place, the noise just echoes around. Sitting here now and it's super busy. Yes, the wine is delicious. But the server doesn't know anything about the wine. The server has hardly been here for the lot of our meal... And is acting irritated when we ask for anything. The food is okay. Don't order the tomato bisque... It tastes like spaghetti sauce and has that consistency too. Service is less than great. I really wanted to give this place more stars. Friendly staff, nice interior. We had reservations and were sat promptly. Unfortunately it took 15 minutes before we even had a drink menu. Had a lovely flight of wines and we shared two excellent appetizers; we had caprese and bacon wrapped dates. We made placed our dinner orders and waited. And waited. Luckily we were not in a hurry because it took a very long time before we got our food. When we finally got our food, only one entree out of four was hot and the plates came out over 10 minutes. The only dish that arrived hot was the shrimp pasta dish. My dish was the skirt steak and potatoes: potatoes were hot, steak was ice cold. It was unfortunate because it was cooked perfectly. The chicken dish and the salmon dish had ice cold broccoli. We pointed this out to our server and she asked if we wanted our food taken back, but it had taken 45 minutes to get our food and we were worried that it would take another 45 minutes to get our new dishes. The kitchen only had one cook and one person doing dishes and seemed very overwhelmed. This location may serve hot food during slower times (we were there on a Friday between 5 and 7) but we won't be returning. read more

He asked us a couple of questions then choose an amazing wine for both of us. Our waiter was not only helpful but incredibly polite and funny. The food came and it was delicious! I work in Kent and saw this being built. Needless to say I was at the door when it opened. Amazing food! Whether you're there for lunch or dinner, or maybe even wine and appetizers... you can't beat Red's homemade taste. Their flights are fun. My one recommendation would be the bands which can make the small space feel even tinier when you're trying to yell over a loud band. I've been there for three bands now, only one of them fit the scene with fun, upbeat, but not in your face - ruin your conversation noise. There are larger bars that compliment those types of bands, Reds sadly isn't one of them. Since they are a cement based building, leave it as the trendy artsy space it should be. No need for noise when there is sometimes only standing room in there. read more

Ok wine, terrible service. My fiance tried to plan a nice night out for us after returning from his deployment. He made reservations here for us at 7pm so we could eat, drink and enjoy the live music. Our first night out together in over 9 months...and we ended up getting wings next door and bringing them home. Our reservation meant nothing as we had to seat ourselves. We were brought menus and our drink order fairly quickly, but things went downhill from there. NO ONE came to check on us, take our food order, or even refill our water glasses for over an hour. Everyone around us was getting service, but not us. By 8:30 we were starving so paid our bill and left. Ended up next door for some wings and came home. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We definitely will not be going back. read more

I loved seeing this wine bar open in Kent. I have been there several times and every time the service, wine and food are great. The owners have taken the time to talk with us and let us know their plans for the business. They are open to suggestions too. They are considering some rearrangements at the front of the business with some additional seating which I think would be wonderful. The Texas Caviar is absolutely delicious. I have had several of their items; edamame, panini sandwich, onion soup, cheese platter etc and have not left disappointed. There is a variety of places to sit; a beautiful red bar, high table and chairs (my favorite), regular table with chairs and a great idea of a large couch area where you could sit with a group of friends. If you enjoy wine and beer, an atmosphere that is very pleasing try this place and I'm sure you will be going back. I love it!! read more

This is one of the best opportunities in Kent to be the place to go! They are losing customers because they lack service. No bartender at a bar besides the girls working the whole restaurant? These girls are burnt out. I was the first of three other groups at the bar that did not receive any acknowledgment from anyone except the water girl for 15 minutes. I requested a glass of wine and a flatbread. After 30 minutes with no check in from anyone, I waved one person down to ask about my food only to find it had not been ordered. I received an apology and when asked how long will it take, was told 10 minutes. I waited another 20 with no checking from anyone and asked for my check. I was offered to have my food packaged to go. When I asked how long, I was told 6-7 minutes. I did not wait, paid the check and left. Business was slow when I arrived so can't imagine what happens when the bar is full. And this was prime time, 5-7 pm on a Saturday night. Needs owner to make some changes! 2 more servers would have landed at least 8 more happier customers in my hour experience. read more

This is a new, hip beer/wine joint near Kent station that a friend had recommended. We tried it out last night and were pretty impressed. We had the Italian panini and the pulled pork sliders and they were both delicious. The food itself is of high quality with a good presentation. The pork was very moist and and the sauce came on the side for dipping. The panini was really good, a little small but the flavor was perfect and had basil leaves on it which really set off the other flavors. Most dishes come with a side of edamame which I found a little strange but pretty cool. I love edamame so it was a nice twist. The only complaint I have is that the service was a little slow BUT they were really busy and since it is a new place there will always be a few kinks to work out. I am sure that once they figure out the customer flow they will be able to staff accordingly. All in all I really like this place and I hope it succeeds because I do plan on going back soon and often. read more
