Been here a couple times, nice place overall. I have never had any problems to mention. Bring your weapon and couple boxes of ammo and have fun tuning your skills. I've read some people complain about the gunpowder smell but it doesn't bother me. The range person always seems to be watching but not bothering which is nice if you are in any way familiar with weapons. They offer a one on one instruction which may be a little pricey but if you've never fired a weapon before....get some instruction!!! My only critique is the walls between the lanes doesn't go all the way up so when you have some "person" next to you holding their weapon at an angle, the shells hit the roof and land on you. The price is fair and worth the time, they also have targets on site for 50 cents each. read more

Was having a great time until a range master on a power trip starts screaming at my husband like he is a 3 year old.. and grabbing my rifle out of his hands.. Not educating him on range rules, but screaming at him to humilate him. Then you have another employee come in and not mediate the situation, but tag team my husband screaming at him as well. I was a police officer for 15 years and have been screamed at on the firing line many of times, but this takes the cake. You drop 100 dollars plus to be belittled on the range .. No thanks we can go to another range and get actual customer service. read more

Conveniently close. Decent staff. Indoor range so it's loud. I prefer to go when it's not too busy. Lanes are kinda close to each other you may encounter brass shell casings from the shooter next to you hence I try to get in at times when the chances are their won't be anyone practicing to the right or left of me. read more

I went in the other day with my brother. He is proficient with them whereas I had never shot a pistol before. The guys behind the counter were very helpful in taking the time to not just tell me how to load, unload etc the guns I wanted to rent, but showing me with fake bullets and letting me demonstrate back to him what they had just learned. Also they took the time to let me palm several of the weapons, in order to see if I liked them (I have small hands even for a woman) Never were they condescending or jerks and they were completely accommodating. I thought it was a little expensive but I really don't have anything to compare it to, and we did rent two different guns and bought the ammo for them at the range. Overall I would say we got a good deal as I learned a ton! I am looking forward to free range time on ladies night! read more

Very good place this is to train the trigger finger. Great prices they have! Yoda aside: I actually shot my first firearm here and it was quite enjoyable. I came here with my boyfriend to shoot. He had to update the sights on his ar15 and I mainly wanted to shoot my pistol. It was nice that they have different sides for rifles and it wasn't handgun only. After we shot on the rifle side, we were able to move over to the handgun side were I got to have my fun! The targets were 50cents each, which was very reasonable and we both got out of there for under 70$! Previous places I have gone to have been 80$ on up for two people on a single lane. I was very happy with the cost and military discounts! I will be coming back to this range. The staff was friendly and informative regarding rules and regs. As a woman sometimes the guys who are working at the range can not be super nice, but I was happy that I wasn't treated like an idiot :) read more

Red's is the first and only gun range I've been to (so far) and it was a great experience! The staff were very helpful and even checked up on us beginners later on. The glock is great for beginners. Now I'm addicted and I want to buy a gun. The price wasn't explained to us clearly so the bill was much high than anticipated, but reasonable. It'll be a good idea to ask about that first. read more

Enjoyed an hour of shooting over the holiday weekend. Crowded and waited about 20 minutes to get a lane. Lots of staff members who were knowledgeable on all the firearms available for rent. Prices were decent. Firearm selection to purchase was fantastic. At one point the range master shut down the range due to people being unsafe. I am an experienced shooter personally but it was obvious there were some beginners. I commend the range master for shutting down the line and explaining rules and safety expectations for all. Cop Wannbe too intrusive. They have a guy in there that cleans up the shell casings who is so intrusive it stinks. Went in there with my daughter's Dallas Swat boyfriend a month ago and the first time I had seen this guy. He was all about telling my Swat friend how to shoot the guns he brought in. My Swat friend told him he trained Dallas Swat members so he knew what he was doing. He kept interfering so my Swat friend packed his stuff up and waited outside for me. I went in today and the same guy and a couple of shooters there. I always go early to avoid the amateurs. He was all over me tapping me on the shoulder screaming shit at me. I can't hear him. I haven't even fired one round yet. I just said yeah yeah and went to load my gun. He tapped on the shoulder and gestured for me to leave. I argued with him and I still didn't know why so I just left. A customer approached me in the parking lot and asked what happened. He stated the same guy did that to him a couple of weeks earlier and he decided to not shoot at this range anymore. This guy had been a cop and Swat member for 35 years. He said this guy is a cop wannbe and flexes his muscles as sweeps up the casings. I will find a new place to shoot. I have been shooting guns since I was 10 yrs old. He is going to put his hands on the wrong guy one day. Do not go to this place. This guy puts you in danger by hounding you over every little detail. I understand it is safety first, but when you have not even loaded your gun and he is barking crap you cannot hear it is also putting everyone in danger. And when he grabs you by the shoulder? Too much for me. Don't go unless you want to be harassed the minute you walk in. Not customer friendly. read more

Customer service was FANTASTIC! The guys at Red's really went above and beyond for me. I recently ordered a gun from Daniel Defense and had the weapon sent to Red's. They had been ordered to shut down because of the COVID 19 outbreak so when I arrived at the store, the doors were closed. Seeing people inside, I called and got a hold of a Red's team member. They opened up for me so I complete my transfer. What I didn't expect was for them to stay on the phone for almost TWO hours with the ATF to help me complete the transfer. These guys didn't have to do that. They could have easily said - The county has shut us down and we'll call you when we're open, good luck. They didn't do that. They stayed open for me, stayed on the phone with ATF forever, and I walked out with my new gun. This was pretty incredible considering all they made was $50 for the transfer fee. These guys dedication to customer service is why I'll be a loyal Red's customer from now on. read more

We went there to shoot our pistol, not knowing at all what to expect. I was pleased with customer service and their value of safety, with signs everywhere and every person we spoke with reiterating the rules. I was also impressed with the price which included hourly rental, eye/ear protection and targets. Will definitely visit again in the future. Took my wife and her friend to shoot a gun for the first time in their lives. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. They explained the best gun for the 2 women to handle, showed them how to load, cock, and point the weapon. After the safety course we went to the lane and the attendant was very helpful when needed. The only negative was it is a little expensive, but that will not influence my rating. After all, we shot their gun and ammo. We will go back. read more

Red's indoor range was once my go to place for shooting and equipment. The staff was polite and the RSO'S kept an eye on people i.e. beginners. The last two times I have been there it was sad. Employees all sitting behind the counters. I took a look around and saw nothing but a brass covered floor and not one RSO. Usually they sweep up the brass and make sure people are shooting in a safe manner. The floor was covered in brass from the rifle side to the pistol side. No wonder all the good employees left. After 9 years of shooting at Reds the last year the Pflugerville location has finally just gone downhill. I have nothing but love for Reds but some of your employees need to pay attention to detail. I don't like someone shooting my target and better yet shooting the rod right after. I was initially blamed until the RSO finally walked in and realized my rifle was still in the case. Even the other shooters were headed out due to the way the RSO initially responded before he realized I hadn't even shot yet, the bystanders were shocked they found some place else to shoot. After that incident and the way the new employees treat people I'll find a better range until there is some improvement. Again Red you need to clean house. Having no RSO on site is unsatisfactory and dangerous. I hate to say it but we'll no longer go there to shoot. The Rso's pay no attention and overall its become unsafe. I'll go somewhere where I don't have to worry about an accidental shooting or being flagged by someone else while the RSO'S stares off into space looking inside the shop.Reds has had enough unfortunate accidents. I hope y'all get back to the way it used to be. Not having an RSO present is a probably not a good idea. For now I'll have to look for a better range nearby. I hope things change because after 9 years of being a customer even Dale the GM wasn't helpful and didn't even take the time to answer a question. You lost a potential $1,257 dollar sale while you watched your employees sit around and joke. I guess the customer service went out with the old employees. He didn't even take the time to assist me. I guess my money's not good enough for him. It really is a shame. I enjoyed visiting on leave and bringing in customers, friends, family, etc. I guess those days are over. I'm surprised how far down the overall atmosphere and experience has been. I truly hope it gets better. Red is still a bad ass though. I mean no disrespect by this post I just hope the RSO's/ Staff act like they want to be there. Especially on the range. If only I had taken pictures and recorded my experience. No RSO and people who admit that they have never shot before looking for an RSO for help. Doesn't get much worse than. Glad the kid with the rifle pointed at my leg figured that was smart. I'm here to put rounds down range not get shot. I'm glad I always keep my head on a swivel because that's the 4th and last time I get a gun pointed at me. They have good guns and accessories, and the range itself is pretty decent. If the range staff weren't so surly and rude i would give 5 stars. The guys at the counter for gun purchases are usually much nicer and more helpful. Its a real shame, I've been a patron at this location for nearly 10 years, but it's only gotten worse. First off, I am neithert a gun owner nor a gun handler and never will be one. I was with a group of people who were, so this is from the perspective of a total newbie. Anyways, they do have a huge assotment of guns, rifles, etc. The place also hosts CHL and hunter safety courses and that's a huge plus. But I was there for one thing and one thing only: To fire a gun, which comes to the best part: The Firing range. If you are looking to fire off your ammo, their firing range is great. There are three different sections, although at the time I was there, the middle one was closed. One section was for firing pistols while the other, for rifles. I noticed the staff there can be very friendly and is willing to help anybody who needs it. I literally got a kick out of firing my friend's rifle and the experience is an awesome one. Be careful though. Continuos uncontrolled firing by either a rifle or pistol is strongly discourage, as a gung-ho navy serviceman, a few sections away, soon found out. Nevertheless, this place is great for those who intend to fire off a few rounds of ammo. read more

Stopped by Red's in Plugerville on the way back into town from Dallas yesterday. Justin (I think) was the guy behind the counter, and was super helpful. Had the wife and kids in tow and he patiently went through all my questions about the various options for a home defense gun, ideas for next steps in deciding what to purchase, advice on what to do should a break-in occur, etc. All in all, he probably spent 30 mins talking with me and the wife answering all our mundane questions, and never tried to pressure us into purchasing anything. When I am finally ready to make the purchase, I plan on going back to Red's. read more

Made the leap today and bought my first firearm. Needless to say I was pretty nervous about being a novice and the potential condescending attitude that I've heard others speak about when visiting other gun stores. My salesman at Red's was very helpful, knew his stuff, and was patient with me despite the myriad of questions I had. Also, when I was eager to spend much more on accessories, my salesman told me to hold off, take my time, then buy what I may need and/or want. I was quite surprised. Let's you know you can trust their recommendations, and it shows their motives are your safety and enjoyment of the weapon, not simply profit. I'll definitely be going back here. I am a new gun owner and shooter of about 6 months now. Never have shot a gun before this at the age of 43 I can say I was feeling a bit intimidating to walk in the first time. Once I started talking with different employees each time I went, renting multiple 9mm guns along with asking tons of questions. Everyone is very helpful patient and never gave the impression that I was a bourdon with all my questions. I try to go twice a week mostly on the weekends I did my CHL class there and now I'm a license carry holder. In the politically charged times we are in I have never heard anything disparaging towards any particular view point nor have I ever seen it among the customers as well. I bring that up because I lean towards the left politically and I have never felt unwelcome. Word of advice, follow the rules of the range, be nice to everyone and you will have a great time! read more

The staff is always courteous and friendly and always willing to answer your questions. The range safety officers are always on their toes keeping an eye on everybody to make sure we all stay safe. While a previous reviewer indicated staff reacted well in a "bad round" situation, being new to this range the safety briefing was that, BRIEF. What may be rote to the staff, the attendant very quickly mumbled through the rules. I also agree that some of the staff can be egocentric. Rather than try to educate you, they want to shame you with regards to safety. I'll continue to take my business to the outside range on the other side of Austin. read more

I highly recommend NOT going here. The staff was completely unhelpful, they suggested I go online when I asked for a holster, an extended clip, and a few extra mods I was looking for my G26. They were no help at all and they seemed like they did not want to be there. Ive never had an experience like this at a gun store/range. I was super excited for my first experience but I was quickly shot down by their employees. Ive been to many many other locations and I hands down will never go back here and I recommend everyone to do the same. I have been to Red's several times over the years. Most of the visits have been pretty good and the people working are usually top notch. On my last visit however, the guy working behind the counter for shooting, Kyle, was a real ass. I get that he thinks he's cool and he's the man there, but buddy, you are not. You need a personality upgrade. People pay good money to come there and the experience should be a good one. I'm going to take my money elsewhere if the next visit is not any better. read more

Two experienced military vets visit your facility and you throw one out for touching his unloaded pistol while standing on your red line instead of in front of it. Went here for my first shooting experience. They had a large selection of rental guns, and the employees behind the desk explained how to use the gun. We had a BLAST! I will be coming back soon, my girlfriends and I are going to see if they have classes. Ridiculously rude and unprofessional RSO. As a veteran with multiple deployments and several years in LE, I can appreciate safety, but when a barely old enough to own a weapon child thinks they have the right to rudely yell at you for the most minor infraction, that is completely uncalled for. If there is a violation, address it and move on. If the violation is severe enough to warrant being kicked off the range enforce it, but there are ways to enforce it professionally yet firmly. I laughed it off, zeroed my optic, and then gladly left for the last time from this place. While it is conveniently close, I shall never give them any of my business again. read more

Just went there today with 2 other people today and experienced either racism or homophobia or both from a manager no less! Being asked 21 questions about the damndest of things and watching multiple white people walk in with no questions and no problems was out right unacceptable. And after speaking to Red the owner, I got no sympathy or any kind reassurance what so ever. All he said was "he's our nicest employee here"... thanks for the tip Red. I'm glad we left and didn't spend a penny here. I will never come back and will be recommending people to stand clear. read more

I have been going to shoot at Reds for several months now. I have even purchased a nice Ruger Single Six from them. The guys there have been nothing but respectful and helpful. I have even had a group of ladies from work go with me on Ladies Day as a work event. We all had a great time! Went to this indoor range with my boyfriend. As soon as we walked in we were greeted but it didn't feel welcoming. Once we got our lane I was having an issue with my gun, my bf came to check it out and I stepped out, he inspected my already unloaded gun, and decided to put it back in the bag for now and take one of the others we brought. He walked the gun, unloaded, pointed down and away. The attendant just shouted, ' you're done that's it done for the day'. Told my brother he couldn't shoot anymore because he didn't have eyes on the revolved the whole two second walk 10ft to the bag. When we went to leave, even though my bf didn't even shoot they tried to charge us for two shooters. I had only shot 1 round from the .38. They then told us we weren't banned but couldn't shoot the rest of the day. They were rude. They didn't not make it clear exactly what 'rule' out of the 20 listed was broken. There was no warning, no ensuring clarity on the endless list of rules you flash at patrons and expect to memorized and read through in between each shot taken? They were more concerned with getting their money than actually being clear on how to manage multiple guns in a lane if there's no space to keep them in lane. Some of the worst customer service I've experienced anywhere. Nothing about this visit makes me want to come back or recommend to anyone. You don't get treated like a person you get treated like a convict. We ended up going to Best of the West instead. The staff was so friendly and pleasant there. I even got some shooting and grip tips from the owner at Best of the West. Such a night and day experience between these places read more

Awful. I am an inexperienced shooter so I went to the range with my boyfriend and his family. As they tried to show me simple things like loading the clip, where the safety was and more things the female manager kept giving them warnings about helping me to the point where I was so scared to shoot the gun and I couldn't even ask if I was doing it right for fear of getting in more trouble. Red's is a terrible place to purchase a firearm. The customer service is abysmal and frankly non-existent. I went into Red's last week to get some prices and features on a new rifle. Wanted see what was available, and what caliber might be the best fit for taking Nilgai down in S. Texas. Needed something with more punch than my .270. Let me explain something first. I am in the market for a rifle, that will be in the price range of $800. You would think a business would be interested in helping a customer who WANTS to spend some money. Instead I get rude comments and blank stares from the idiots behind the counter and an attitude that I am bothering them and wasting their time asking, god forbid, questions about the products they sell. For instance, why is this rifle better than this one? What features does this Browning .300 have over this Savage .338? Yeah....crickets. Terrible service, I will not be back, and will not spend my money at Red's. For a range, use Best in the West. Those guys are great. While not a gunshop per se, they do have rifles and pistols for sale, especially LaRue tactical ARs. The range is the best. Guess I'll just do my shopping at Cabela's.
