So glad I made the switch a few years back, Dr Vu is so gentle, explains all the procedures well. She tells you the pros and cons of treatment without pressuring you to make the decisions right away. Dental cleaning. I really like this dentist! She is very efficient and has a nice staff. I am well taken care of here, age 78. I had an inlay last year for a lower moler and have had no problems with it after the procedure. I just had my teeth cleaned by the Doctor too and they feel good. I just got back from seeing Dr. Vu for a filling in a front tooth. She just does her magic. As a person who has a huge aversion to getting injections inside my mouth, I must say Dr. Vu administered them painlessly. Her chairside manner is the best. She has a very calming demeanor. Fine dental care. Communication from the office is inconsistent and outdated. I was charged a cancelation fee for an appointment *they* canceled because I was a running a few minutes late. I was in the parking lot when they called to cancel the appointment that I took the morning off of work to attend! No reminders sent before appointments, either. Their office is really disorganized and often provides incorrect information, yet they expect no conflicts or issues from patients. Just not worth it. read more

My family has been seeing Dr. Vu for many years, and I used to refer other people to her. From the very beginning, my oldest daughter always said Dr. Vu made her feel bad about her teeth. All of my kids started to talk about how they sort of felt "shamed" about their dental hygiene if they had cavities. I didn't experience that so I kept going. This last time, I had tooth pain that I couldn't really pin point. Dr. Vu was very short-tempered and irritated and made me feel so embarrassed and dumb that I actually apologized to her. She sent me to a specialist (not covered by insurance) who referred me back to her for treatment. When I left a couple of messages to get an appointment, Dr. Vu herself called me back and was very rude and sarcastic about my inability to identify which tooth was the problem. Again, she made me feel stupid about my teeth. Needless to say, we're moving on to a different dental office. YOUR DENTIST SHOULD NEVER MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR TEETH. read more

My family has been seeing doctor Gina Vu, DDS for about 6 years. Our initial experience was pretty good overall. Sometime around 2020 we noticed some things had changed. Covid was around and she lost most of her staff. Understandably she was stressed but her attitude towards us as patients also changed. . She was not the nice likable dentist we had.She became very Stern and condescending when talking about dental care. Fast forward to April 2023,. I had a dental cleaning appointment and while in the chair I started to have an anxiety attack.I asked if they could do as much as they could while I sat up a little.I was told by the hygienist that we should just reschedule. I left and shortly after I got home doctor Vu called. She wasn't calling to check on me but accused me of just walking out.She spoke down to me and treated me like I did something awful. Today I just received a letter via US mail stating she will no longer be the dental provider for my family and all appointments have been canceled.What an awful person she is. I can only hope karma will prevail. I hope she is proud of her behavior.By the way I was not going to return anyway considering the way she spoke to me. Why would she punish my family too? So, the dentist Dr. Gina Vu seems nice enough, but the front desk girl, Jenny, is super fake. She comes off sweet and nice, but upon having to actually do work and put effort into her job other than just sitting at her cushy office and going on the web, she becomes a total diva. She called me to tell me my payment options, which were none as they don't offer payment plans there and she told me she went ABOVE AND BEYOND for me and wanted an apology as I was upset at having to pay another $450 and she didn't like my attitude towards her. Above and beyond? She answered the phone, tried to book me an appt and told me the price. That's her basic job description. And, she not only wouldn't offer payment plans, she wouldn't refer or recommend another local dentist who might be able to do my metal crown instead of the porcelain they only offer. Stuck up, entitled, diva- she sits at a desk all day, Mon-Thurs as they are closed Fri-Sun. She's off by 5 every day. No nights. No weekends. Wow, she has it so hard. Maybe I was upset as I'd just had a root canal that morning, found out my wedding coordinator quit the winery I'm getting married at, wasn't looking forward to getting up at 530 am to work another 10 hour day at work, where I stand all day and then I got the call from her. Unprofessional, Unreliable, Bad Dentistry! I came to Dr. Vu originally because I was having issues with a bridge. I was referred to an oral surgeon to have two implants put in, and my experience with the oral surgeon was wonderful. However, when I went back to Dr. Vu there were SEVERAL complications. I had to reschedule with the office a total of 3 times. The first time was because my son was sick, and the two other times were for personal medical emergencies, as I am disabled. I was sent a letter in the mail from Dr. Vu stating that if I needed to reschedule in the future I would be charged a $50 rescheduling fee. The letter also stated how her time was important and that I could have avoided these "unnecessary inconveniences." That is so interesting to me because on my first visit Dr. Vu had her daughter in her office. She can make accommodations for her children but I can't for mine? Dr. Vu also did reschedule with me on one occasion, which was totally fine because I understand that things do happen. My next issue is the work she did on a cavity. Dr. Vu filled a cavity, and I had to have a root canal done on the same tooth 2 months later that cost me over $3000. Also, the tooth after the cavity filling felt dull and sandy, not like a tooth should feel. My last issue is that I received a call from Dr. Vu's office last week to schedule a routine cleaning. I had it my mind not to return to the office because of the poor work and customer service, but over the weekend an old crown came off. So I called Dr. Vu's office hoping I could just come in quickly and have it put back on. I called and made my appointment. 4 hours later I was called and told that "We won't be able to see you on Wednesday as your case has been closed." I have no idea what that meant, and I was given no explanation. I emailed the office asking why I was told that "my case was closed" but did not receive an answer. If the office "closed my case" because of conflict with scheduling then why on earth was Dr. Vu's office sending me reminders in the mail and calling to schedule an appointment. It sounds like the office is unorganized. RedHawk Family Dentistry got over $6,000 dollars for services from my family, not to mention what my insurance paid. What kind of a "family" practice takes money from a hardworking family, doesn't even do one of the procedures correctly, and then tells me "my case has been closed." What a disgrace to the community! Having relocated to this area recently from NorCal, my wife and I feel so blessed to have found Dr. Gina Vu, as our dental service provider. First, she is a consummate professional with exceptional dental skills. Next, she has the highest level of interpersonal skills, as does her great office staff. Dr. Vu takes the time to explain everything to you, and you never feel rushed, in her calm office setting. This is a traditional dental practice, which is comfortable, warm and inviting; and absent the hard-sell, up-sell type of behavior you may find at so many other dental practices these days. Dr. Vu is always present and visible in the office, and she does not 'stack' up the waiting room with patients, like an overbooked airline flight, as so many other dentists do; wherein she ensures you are provided service on time, without having to endure a long wait in the lobby. We had been going to Dr. Vu for quite a while. I truly thought she was diligent in her work. She can be very detailed minded and, has a set way of doing things. She knows her business. Unfortunately, because of her front office staff, we will not be returning. We don't know if Dr. Vu will ever know why we left. It was noticeable there has been difficulty filling her office with friendly, experienced help. In the years of going there, we noticed changes in both front and back office. It is times like this where no stars would be far more appropriate. I have never in my life experienced the level of true incompetence as I did from Dr. Vu and her office. After being referred to her office in December to have my implant completed it has been three months and as of today nothing has been done. I was assured on more than one occasion by the woman running her office that my information was being sent to the insurance for a "pre-authorization" and that it was the best course to take prior to treatment. That was in January. I waited, patiently, for a call back from Dr. Vu's office. After receiving a notice from my insurance that they were going to close the claim due to not receiving the necessary information from Dr. Vu's office I called. That was last Monday. Cheryl, the front office person, assured me she had sent the necessary information on February 3rd, well over a month ago. When I inquired as to why no follow up had been done by her she apologized and agreed she should have followed up sooner. I was told she would call the insurance and follow up with me shortly. She called me back to let me know that the insurance stated they didn't have the necessary information but after further review acknowledged they did indeed have the information and would "process the claim priority one which would take 7-10 days". This is what I was told by Dr. Vu's office staff. Cheryl then told me she would call me one week later to follow up. Which brings us to today. Cheryl called first thing this morning to let me know she called the insurance company and was told the exact same thing as last week. That they didn't have the necessary documentation, then after further review found that they did and would begin the processing "priority one", requiring another 7-10 days. Cheryl assured me she would call the insurance Wednesday to follow up and call me in a week. About 10 minutes after getting off the phone with Cheryl Dr. Vu called me herself to say that Cheryl did nothing wrong and "she was going to make this easy on me and doesn't want to take my case". Her office wasted three months of my time, delaying necessary treatment and in the end Dr. Vu who should be a professional, more importantly a medical professional calls and tells me to go elsewhere. I called my insurance to follow up and as I suspected no information had been sent and they don't tag any claims "priority one", that isn't a term that they use. I have also been told that today is Cheryl's last day at Dr. Vu's office. Clearly this office is looking for quick easy money and not running a professional, ethical dental office. Needless to say I am reporting them to my insurance, the California Dental Board, Dental Association and BBB. I am disgusted. read more

Great dentist office! The entire staff is really friendly and talk to you the whole time. I had previously been to a crazy dentist office in San Diego that tried to tell me I had 23 cavities. I knew that wasn't right, so I went three years without going to a dentist. Finally decided it was time to try it again, and after reading the Yelp reviews for Dr. Vu, had to try her out. SHE WAS AMAZING. Not only did I not have 23 cavities, I HAD NONE! It's crazy how dentist offices will try to rip you off, but not Redhawk. Nothing short of 5 stars! They made me feel so comfortable, I haven't had the best of luck with dentist in the past and am usually pretty nervous. But from first stepping in to stepping out I was very impressed. What an amazing practice they have going. They are pleasant, gental, honest and I truly believe they actually care about their patients. I had I guess a little bit of a rougher cleaning done. Which I didn't notice at all.
