This review is long overdue. Ive been going to Atiga's office for a few years now. Why did I start going here do you ask??? Because of Yelp of course! The reviews were and are great. It was even voted the best or one of beat dentist offices in Riverside county. Here's the first reason why it's not a perfect five star. Dr. Atiga asked me what I do as a living one time. After I responded she replied "that sucks." Really??? Even the dental hygenist looked at me embarrassed after she heard it. At the time I think I just laughed it off, but till this day it still bugs me everytime she talks to me. I try to be really short and not encourage much convo with her. I mean, what if I love my job. That was just rude and unprofessional. Ive continued to come back thru out the years because the rest of the staff is very cool. Especially the hygienists. They always smile, want to make small talk, and make sure Im comfortable. The office is very clean and up to date with all the new denist technology. The other negative star is for the amount of time it takes to get an appointment. Wow! I usually have to book my appointment almost a year in advance and I have a ton of spare time too (thanks to my job!). As soon as I come in for something, I book my next cleaning right before I leave that day and it never fails. Six months turns into 8 or 9 or 12. The front office always tells me they'll call if something comes up sooner but it rarely does. Dont get me wrong. Its a great office to frequent. I can make hundreds of excuses to not follow up with my dental work however Dr. Atiga's office is so easy, inviting and affordable, no more excuses. I've had terrible experiences in the past and really taken to the guilt trips. Dr Atiga is encouraging, not condescending. Thank you for welcoming my kids! We had been looking for a good dentist for such a long time. We had such a hard time finding a dentist that was NOT in the Temecula Dental Practice, that took our insurance. We have been going to Pediatrician Atiga (who is also amazing) for years. When we found out that Dentist Atiga was accepted by our insurance, our expectations of a dentist's office completely changed. The front office girls are completely sweet and helpful and remember our names when we come in. They greet us immediately and say "Hello" (It's amazing how many offices you enter, that the front office people don't even smile and say hello.) The hygienists are so kind and informative. They don't hurt you when they are scraping your teeth. If there is a possibility of hurting, they really care that you are comfortable. Then there is Dr. Atiga. She is also sweet and truly caring, but she also doesn't make you feel like she just wants your money, like most of the other dentists in this valley make you feel. We've explained to her about not being able to afford more expensive procedures, and she doesn't make you feel bad or make you feel like you will loose all your teeth if you don't come up with the money. She offers alternatives. We will never have to switch dentists offices again now. I never thought I would say that about a dentist. We love Dr. Atiga and her office staff! read more

I haven't been in a dentist's chair in years, so naturally, I was apprehensive. Afraid to hear the the worst diagnosis ever, Dr. Atiga's delivery was pleasant, thorough, and honest. She also presented different options to my treatment program. She was not trying to sell me anything, which I appreciated greatly. The staff was very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. They broke down the costs of services, and explained in detail what each upcoming visit (of my specific treatment program) would entail. In other words, no hidden costs. Since my original review, I received a call from Dr. Atiga's staff and a personal email from Dr. Atiga. They went BEYOND and above in letting me know that they were sorry and apologized for any inconvenience the miscommunication may have caused. They were great in assuring me that I could still be seen, and as a matter of fact I was able to keep my same appointment. Arrived just before 11 and was greeted by a courteous front office staff who gave me new patient paperwork. Just as I completed my paperwork, I was called by my hygienist. She was super friendly and explained everything that would take place during my appointment. She did an AMAZING job cleaning my teeth and also gave me some great advice about how I could improve my dental health. Received X-rays from another tech who was uber friendly as well. My appointment ended with Dr. Atiga who blew expectations away! Down to earth, friendly and made me feel extremely comfortable. I have made 3 follow up cleanings within the next year and honestly can't wait to go back! Yup, that's right! Can't wait to go back to the dentist! Lol. The one star is for the doctor but her office staff is horrible. I came here for only one visit over a year ago. At that time I let the front office know that I only wanted whatever was covered by my insurance. Ever since I have been receiving bills from them every month! I called to find out what they billed me for and was informed it was for some additional x-rays that weren't covered by my insurance. However when I called my insurance they informed me that full mouth x-rays are covered. After much back and forth between the office and my insurance I got nowhere but I still continue to receive the same bill every single month. Oh and stop calling to see when I want to come in next!! The answer is NEVER! I can't afford your random bills! I found a dentist that listens when I request pre authorization for any non covered services and you should do the same. My advice is stay away from here. If they can't find a cavity they will try to find something else to bill you for. *update the doctor herself messaged me to take care of my bill. My family and I have been going to Dr. Atiga for 2 years now and sadly I've had to move onto another dentist. Dr. Atiga herself is very nice, and ditto for her hygienists Im just starting to really question some of the practices and policies. The front office however has gone down hill since they lost Liz. It started last year when I called to get my 3 year old in for his first appt. After 2 weeks of trying and being promised a return phone call (which I never received) I called to let the office manager know. A call back was returned, within a few hours, and all was resolved. I strongly believe in letting businesses know where they may have lacked and allow them the chance to fix it. Fine, done, moving on. When my 6 year old was seen, for her cleaning, it was stressed that she needed to have 2 cavities fixed immediately because Dr. Atiga was worried that it would get worse fast. We scheduled an appt and waited for the day to come. Because my daughter was anxious last time she had a cavity fixed Dr. Atiga recommended nitrous and so I paid the $200 deposit. Well yesterday I took my daughter in for the fillings. They put the nitrous on her and immediately started working but my daughter started crying (I was a little confused because I thought you had to give the nitrous at least a few mins before it kicked in but hey Im not a dentist so I left that alone without asking, my fault) Dr. Atiga went on to ask my daughter whats wrong, and then telling her if she doesn't communicate and stop crying then we will have to start all over again or reschedule. Geezzz we were only 2-3 min into Dr Atiga sitting down, not even numbing medication had been applied yet. Hearing this made my daughter even more upset. Dr. Atiga asked my daughter if she wanted her to take the "nose" (nitrous) off and my daughter said yes. Dr. Atiga does and as she turns the knobs off on the nitrous canisters she says "Oh I only had the oxygen on". (Huh I wonder why it wasn't making my daughter calm) Dr. Atiga said that she would only be able to do the sealants and not fix the cavities since my daughter wouldn't cooperate. I said "Well I was told that those cavities HAD to be fixed immediately" Dr Atiga responded "We can just monitor them and make sure she flosses. If I wanted them fixed right now she would have to have my daughter put under" I can't decide if my daughter NEEDS to have it done now, that's why we trust a dentist... At this point Im peeved but move forward with at least the sealants. When I get to the front desk they said that I will be getting a credit back of $38 out of the $200 deposit. I asked what about the cost of the "nitrous" because it was only like 4-5 min of oxygen" The lady went to talk to the office manager and came back to tell me "Sorry its $150 regardless if its used or not, its the policy" I said "The last time this exact thing happened, when my daughter was 4, Dr. Atiga removed the charge and that time she only used the nitrous for 10-15 min" A confused look on the schedulers face and some "umms and ahhs" and I decided to leave, gather my thoughts, talk to a friend who is a pediatric dentist in Las Vegas, and call Dr. Atigas office with logic and not emotion. Thats exactly what I did and when I received a call back from the office manager saying again "that is their policy and its costs money to 'set up' the nitrous so no they will not give me ANY portion of the $150 deposit back. Also I should have asked questions before hand about the policy" Well setting up the nitrous didn't look like anything more than wheeling two tanks into the room (again Im not a dentist but no explanation of the setting up process was offered) and I didn't think I should ask questions since I knew how she handled the situation before. I asked if we could settle on $50-$75 for the time they spent setting up but the answer was no. Basically all blame was placed on me and of course the passive "Im sorry that you feel that way". Listen I get it, Dr. Atiga put a lot of time, money and effort into her practice and Im not trying to insult anyone but come on they would rather keep $150 and lose 4 patients they've had for 2 years without offering any solutions? Also why was I being told that these cavities HAD to be fixed right away when now they can just be monitored and she should floss more? It makes me start to question some of the other things we were told. I also wonder how many other people pay $150 for 5 min of oxygen... This whole situation is sad as I have referred many people to Dr. Atigas office, even had her on the top of the list for my referrals in my business. Just like it's their policy to charge whatever they want for services, rendered or not, customers also have policies. read more
