Don't go here. They recommended a deep cleaning and I said no and I wanted to schedule my normal cleaning as usual and they told me I can't do that and I have to have the deep cleaning. I told them no again and they told me they won't schedule a cleaning for me, so I said I guess I'll go somewhere else then and they said "ok, thank you and bye." So I just left. read more

They are thieves! They received an insurance check for services and cashed this insurance check and then sent us a bill for the same amount saying we owe them. I considered that theft! I'm writing this post on behalf of my mom and sister. I'm thankful I haven't had to experience this type of treatment. DO NOT GO HERE! My sister went in for her wisdom teeth extraction. Dr. Chein had my sister come in at the first appointment available and then left her sitting with the laughing gas (Novocain) for an hour before realizing she was still there waiting...and even stated he forgot she was there!!! My mom has gone in for routine cleanings and then went in for toothache issues, and some fillings, or some services that resulted in needing full extractions or root canals. Each time, Dr. Chein would complain that my mom could not open her mouth wide enough for his liking, which should not even be an issue!, and has left her in pain even months after. He stopped mid service of a tooth filling/extraction and told her that since her insurance was tapped out from her last appointment, he couldn't finish. And stopped, leaving her with a giant whole in her tooth and in pain. It is completely unprofessional and disrespectful to speak to your patients in a degrading and demeaning manner PERIOD, but to also allow your patients to walk out of your facility in pain? Without any options to help? Not even payment plan option? Or some form of medication to help with pain and prevent infection?! Or a place to go to finish what he started or what he caused. Because of the service he started...he allowed an infection to happen. That meant she could only get a full extractions and paid someone else to do it out of pocket. I'm outraged. And truly feel this establishment should not even be open anymore. Or that this man's license should be revoked completely! The only reason this place gets a star...is because of the dental assistant. Both my mom and sister have spoken very highly of her. And I truly hope she finds a place where she will be valued more. Absolutely horrible service!!!!! I had general work done and was happy and the office staff was nice. I did wait for the pre approval to go through for a crown I needed to have done and the nightmare began. The work was bad and they couldn't figure it out. I had the impression done several times and had the crown sent back because it wouldn't fit. I had several appointments to redo everything and there was still a gap between the crown and gum line. They did charge me after they said it was approved and I had to have the crown redone by another dentist. It's unfortunate and I just hope this will help someone else from going through the same thing. read more

The staff is outstanding. Deborah at the front desk is very warm and professional. Amy, one of the dental assistants, is fantastic at her job. Very knowledgeable and skilled. They're all super cool people that know their jobs well. Billing is dishonest, at best - they overcharged me and never told me 6 months ago. I would never have known if I didn't come back for a "routine" cleaning that is fully covered by my insurance, only to be given an $80 bill on exit because of, "Deep cleaning and Fluoride treatments" that I did not agree to, sign for, or was notified about. On my initial visit, they "found" an extra cavity while drilling that they didn't see on X-Ray too. Bottom line, this place tries to find every way to add services, misrepresent their services, will keep any amount of money they overcharge you and hold it hostage until your next visit - which they will then try to leverage to overcharge you for more unnecessary service. Dental work is average at best - took me a month for my bite to return to normal after the extra cavity they drilled was overfilled. I had to contact my insurance company and retrieve all of my receipts to audit their billing - you would be wise to do the same with this office. read more

For starters, it has to be a pretty positive experience for me to Yelp! a dentist. But, Dr. Chien and team are absolutely Yelp-worthy! From the moment I submitted an appointment request via Sunshine's very intuitive website, it's been a great experience. Crystal followed up almost immediately to confirm and connect me to online new patient registration forms. She also let me know they had a couple of openings if I wanted to get in earlier, which I did. The in office experience was just as hospitable and professional. From check-in to the cleaning and checkup, everyone was friendly and communicative. Dr. Chien and staff asked lots of questions, provided lots of information, and I never felt like I was being "sold to." I am looking forward to my next cleaning and will most likely take advantage of some of their additional services. Highly recommend! read more

The staff are great. The only reason for my 4 stars is the x-ray equipment... it is bulky and heavy and downright uncomfortable. My first experience at the physical appointment was the x-ray, and it was so uncomfortable I was almost ready to leave. The initial visits for my teenager and myself went well, and we will return but hopefully by the next time we need x-rays the equipment will be upgraded to more comfortable equipment. read more

There is no doubt that Dr. Phillip Chien, and his crew, are amazing with the delivery of their services and caring for the patients that walk through their door. My back molar was fractured and I went to a dentist close to my home. That General Dentist scared me by telling me I would feel pain, even if he numbed me. And, he spoke bad things about my insurance and that I would end up paying out of pocket anyways. So a good friend, who lives in L.A., researched a few dentist offices in Temecula for me. She recommended me to Sunshine Dental. I called them the day before I was seen and they got me in the very next day for an emergency right when they opened. I was greeted with kindness, courtesy and they made me feel that they knew what they were doing. They had no problem dealing with my insurance and they broke everything down for me. Dr. Chien has a gentle, yet accurate hand while he was fixing my fracture. After all said and done, they billed my insurance for a new crown, visit, temp crown, and there was a balance of $500.00. When I came out to receive my receipt, the administrator told me she had "good news" for me. The amount due became lesser on my "Care Credit" to only $300.00. Who does this nowadays?! A dentist office working for the best interest of a patients pocketbook. I even cried as I left feeling cared for. Love this place! Today, I had my appointment for cleaning, X-rays and exam. Unfortunately, I got stuck in traffic (yay, highway construction!) I called the office while being stuck in traffic and they were very understanding. I ended up being 30 minutes late! They usually give a 15 minute window, but they made an exception given my circumstances. Once there, everything went smoothly and I was out in about 30 minutes. Dr. Chien and his staff are awesome. Dr. Chien and his staff are the best! So on Tuesday I started feeling a pain radiating in the bottom part of my mouth. I knew it was a tooth, but did not know what was happening. Later that day, and I won't mention a name, I phoned my "regular dentist" for an appointment. The office did not pick up so I left a message. they did not return my call. On Thursday, I called again as the pain in my mouth was progressing. The answering service said they would have them call me when they opened. No phone call! On Thursday, I called again and the answering service said they would let them know that I needed to come in. I asked the answering service to let them know that I was in pain. Again, no call. I got home from work that day, throbbing pain by now, and looked to see my regular dentist hours. To my defeat, I read that he does not work on Fridays. There was no way I could wait until Monday. After very careful research, I came across Sunshine dental and they're amazing reviews. I then called and they picked up right away. They were able to get me in for a 2 o'clock appointment on that Friday, the same day. I was so happy! After a very careful exam, Dr. Chien discovered a major crack in my very last tooth which needed a root canal. Not only did Dr. Chien stay along with his staff after hours to repair my tooth, but he also explained everything in detail to me, made me feel comfortable, listened to me during the procedure, and did an amazing job! It is only been 12 hours and I am no longer on the painkillers that he prescribed. Needless to say, I will definitely be switching dentists due to Dr. Chien's advanced skills in dentistry combined with his professionalism. Thank you sunshine dental staff!
