I gave 3 stars because the gentleman who wrote me up was kind enough to apply a coupon for my oil change but I went there because I see them seeming to be pretty busy so I thought they must be good. I had a lot of maintenance done on my car before driving from Federal Way WA and my mechanic there, whom I wish I could have brought him here with me, had recommended replacing my radiator down the line. My car is a 1995 Lexus LS 400 but only has 129,000 miles. Changing radiator was suggested being the radiator is as old as the car. Well while getting oil change I asked for estimate for changing it. Redhawk said I didn't need to change it and gave me a list of $6,000 worth of other work which included water pump and timing belt which were done by mechanic in WA. 30,000 miles ago. I was blessed with vehicle for $5,000 with 102,000 miles. I will say there is definitely a difference in dealing with people in WA as opposed to CA. Now I'm not sure which way to go. My car runs better than some new cars which is why I try to keep it up but it won't be easy in CA read more

Any great reviews come clearly, from smog servicing. But what I encountered for actual repairs, they don't hold salt. I brought my hybrid vehicle to them after I had to park it for a year, in a non-op status because when the electric/battery switched to the engine mode, it would take about 2 miles before the "low propulsion" message would come on and engine would start vibrating and/or smoking. I described all of this to Richard Sambrano in the hopes that they could diagnose the issue, particularly after 2 neighbor referrals (albeit for smog). I was assured they had a very knowledgeable hybrid technician on duty. Well, a week goes by and no news, no call. Ok, I'm in no rush. Then a few days later, I decide that's enough and call. Richard Sambrano tells me "uh, they drove it for miles and no smoking or overheating" and "we can show the mileage after our testing with the odometer setting" - now why would you even offer that. Yet, like a mill, they email me all these pictures of my tire wear, under chassis condition/leaks, and everything not related to the reason I brought the car in. Another week goes by but this time I drove by their shop over that week, each day, to see my car sitting in the very same place, literally collecting dust, and even two occasions got out of the car to peek in and see if anything was moved around like someone had been in it. And there I see the charge cord, day after day, sitting on the floorboard. Nothing disturbed. Yet another week without a call - and we are pushing 2.5 weeks of the car sitting in the hot sun, windows closed and baking. Clearly, this was going no where. I finally go to take back possession of my car, and upon arrival, asked one last time if they had found anything out. Richard dodged and went into the garage, and another person at the counter pulled up my car information and proceeded to show me pictures of the tires with wear that need to be replaced and the leak on the transmission and engine case. Really? I told him that I brought the car in because the problem with the car was that when it transitioned to engine mode, it would flutter, smoke and overheat. He told me that likely because of the high mileage the main battery was faulting. I told him that I wrote that in the customer notes from what the dealership had opined and that he was just regurgitating the information I provided weeks ago. I told him that's why I brought the car in so they can determine with diagnostics if that or something else was the case. I also told him that Richard said last week that the hybrid tech said that they were charging the car to see how it ran and if that was the problem. Why would you charge the car if the problem was in engine mode, not electric. It was clear to me Redhawk didn't spend the time with the car, had no clue and was covering. I got my keys and went to the car, which was filthy, completely unmoved, or attended to. I get in and the car was NEVER charged at all! There is NO battery charge, purely in engine mode, and how am I supposed to get the vehicle home? So I limped the vehicle to a charge station up the road, waited 2 hours while concurrently searched on Google and found X-GEN Hybrid Battery Sales & Service in Fallbrook. I read every review - 36 of them all 5 star reviews. I called them, told them the problem, and that very day they took receipt of the car. After one and a half weeks of diagnostics (he said he had a few cars ahead of me), turns out that the problem was a simple thermostat that was faulty (totally explains why you couldn't drive it in engine mode and it would overheat. So for $75 they replaced it and the car runs FANTASTIC in engine mode--everywhere. I'm disgusted by my treatment at Redhawk Auto. I will NEVER recommend them for service, nor how I was treated. They let my car sit in the same place for weeks and gave me excuse after excuse without doing anything. Hey guys, we do drive by to see if there is any activity with our cars. Do not recommend. Go to XGEN that solved the issues and even washed and cleaned my car before my pickup - versus Redhawk that let it sit in the sun unmoved and dirty. Shame on you Redhawk and Richard S. Not sure why you were recommended to me, but to the public, Redhawks got some issues and their integrity is clearly in question. That's all you need to know. Take your vehicle to XGEN in Fallbrook for all of your hybrid needs. They actually diagnosed and fixed the non-battery problem: $75 thermostat! read more

The staff are very nice, but this is for the wait time. I went here becuase it is close to my house. I needed a smog test and made an appointment. I waited an hour when I was told that it should take no more than 15 to 30 minutes max. There's not a waiting room to speak of, so I went over to Walmart. They also did an inspection under the hood which I'm not sure as part of the smog test or just a courtesy, but I would've declined it because I'm sure it added some time. They charge a 2 1/2% fee to use a credit card, but don't tell you at the time of booking. Had I known, I would've paid cash. The smog test was around $65 and I there are other places in the area that charge less ($20 less). They may do great work otherwise but go elsewhere for a smog test; other places quoted me 5 to 10 minutes read more

Stay clear of this place. It took me three times until I realized I need to find a new shop. First time I had to have a license plate light and a brake light replaced; while there I figured I would get a front running light replaced. The tech broke to socket so I just told them to leave it at the license plate light and the brake light. The second time I had squeaking breaks; I had them all replaced. A few months later my brake light came on. I took it back and they said there was a leak; which I later found was listed on the invoice for the brake replacement. I asked why the didn't just replace the brake line while replacing all the brake (they didn't seem to have an answer). Third and lastly, I had a passenger side rearview mirror replaced; the tech while replacing the mirror broke the door lock, which I had replaced a few days later. Last Wednesday while driving on the freeway I looked to my replaced rearview mirror and unfortunately it had broke off and was hanging on the side of my car. I immediately got off the freeway and called to let them know what happened; the mirror had no damage of any kind suggesting it was hit by a car. I took it in on black friday and was told by manager that it looked like someone walked into it. There position was they would cover labor but that I would have to pay for the part. I told them I would handle it myself. Three for three failures; maybe it was two too many, but no more. read more

Went in to have my AC checked. Was charged $359.58 just to have to checked. Was told this would be added to the cost of the repair if they were to find an issue. They found an issue and charged an additional $449.48. Invoice doesn't show hours for labor and seems a bit vague. I had a coupon that stated, bring you vehicle for a AC diagnostic, original $180 now $90. Looks like I was given $90 off the $359.58 I was charged for that same $90 diagnostic promotion. A surprise diagnostic fee, a misdiagnosis and an exorbitant repair quote. I called Redhawk Auto Service to make an appointment to have a drive line bearing type noise checked. 2 days later, I drove my Toyota Corolla 32 miles to their shop where I was now informed of their "surprise" diagnostic fee of approximately $150. With a tight schedule, I felt obliged to pay the fee and get on with my day. I later received a call with a quote of $2,500 to replace a bad clutch. That seemed pricey so I called other shops for clutch replacement quotes and received estimates of $700-$1200 for the same work. So, I declined Redhawk Auto's $2,500 quote and returned there to pick up my vehicle. When I arrived, I was kept waiting close to 20 minutes while 2 sales/service reps sat doing nothing. Another rep finally greeted me with a new "special deal" quote of $2,000 to replace the clutch. I left. Another shop discovered the problem to be a failing transmission... diagnostic charge = $0... new transmission and clutch $2,400. I kindly requested Redhawk Auto refund my $150 fee for their misdiagnosis, but they refused so I've opened a dispute with Citibank hoping they can help. Then my second visit, I had have my complete brakes, discs pads, brake fluid replacement on two vehicles for me. All the work is warranty. Guarantee. This is repair shop that I trust that never done me wrong and they are actually fairly priced well for that matter what they do busy shop so call ahead. They also work great with extended warranty companies and will work with you and the warranty companies. The only negative to this shop is the parking of vehicles so you can't leave your car there for too long due to limited space. read more

Manny has provided excellent service and timely updates for my repairs. Manny also doesn't force any unneeded repairs if they are not actually needed. This includes asking you how long you plan on keeping the vehicle, and the cost effectiveness of making a repair of not a critical safety issue and will not be a major issue before you sell it. Stopped in to get an oil change and a smog. When the guy came back from checking my VIN and odometer he informed me there was a check engine light. This is odd because I just had the engine worked on. New engine wire harness, new 02 sensors, no leaks and no check engine light for over 200 miles. While they had my car for an oil change, they gave me a list of items that required my "immediate" attention. The total cost would be around $3800. Another shop checked the car against the itemized list and told me the only item really needed replacement were the front brake pads which still had a few months life in them. Had a smog check scheduled for today at 11:00 am. I arrived before my scheduled time, and they told me that the technician was at lunch, and that I would need to come back later. Really? I thought that's why I booked an appointment, so I asked how this happened, and the lady at the desk told me that she had tried to contact me, but I had no missed calls or voicemails. I have to figure out where to start. Awhile ago my girlfriend's Audi had problems. We brought it here and they repaired some issues but the CEL wasn't gone. They didn't tell us the extent of the other damage on the car. They just wanted as much money as they can get from us, because when we took it back, they said the damage was going to cost more than the car itself is worth. Now with our most recent experience I'm not sure if they were lying or not. We took in her current car due to a damaged radiator, nothing major. They did not keep in contact with us and instead of taking to the my girlfriends (the car owner) like a NORMAL HUMAN BEING, they treat her like a child. She is 23 and they treated her like she's a 15 year old with no know how. They constantly kept asking if they should call her dad and instead. She told them to stop talking like that and that she's an adult and can handle it. They laughed at her. LAUGHED! Then we told them not to do any repairs after they told us it would cost TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR A RADIATOR. How? Well... they gave us an itemized bill and they want NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS for a radiator that costs under $500 to get with shipping. Not only that but they think we want this top of the line radiator for a 21 year older car? What's wrong with them? Looking at the bill they tried to charge us for 8 units of coolant? I assume that means quarts, and how much per quart? $19.76... PER QUART! A GALLON IS UNDER $14 elsewhere??? And $144 for the hour-pay to pour the coolant in??? This isn't even including our experience inside. Manny assisted(?) us inside but had no idea what to do, how to use the computer or how to even ask for help. He kept trying to get Laura's(?) attention from the desk behind him but everytime she would say "yes, manny?" He would just look at her and not say anything. He's like a child, it's ridiculous. One of the absolute worst people I've ever met that works at THE FRONT DESK?! All of this and we STILL had to pay $145 just for them to LOOK AT her car. They 100% only get by from either scamming their customers, or by charging that $145 inspection fee. Which on the phone they made sure to tell her to "make sure to bring the diagnostic fee" after she scolded them for treating her like a child. I called a couple of days prior to my son's oil change requesting a quote for service. I was quoted a priced for the oil change of $75.00 for up to 5qts and when my son took his car in today, he left paying $44.00 more than what I was quoted. I won't be going back here for service. I could have taken it to the dealer for $70.00 vs $119 for an oil change. If someone calls for the price of an oil change, the total should be given, not just a portion of the job. read more

Appointments are not started or finished at promised times. Estimates change as work progresses. They say they found a leak in the rack and pinion steering (no leak in garage at home). $2,000 estimate. Then it becomes $2340.00, when they add tie rods. They keep piling on. They sent the car home without noticing the broken engine mounts. But they wanted to install new struts at extra cost. I said I would take the car to the dealer. The Dealer said the loud banging was caused by the upper dogbone engine mount being broken and other worn engine mounts to be the primary reason for the banging noise, This was found at the dealer, not at Redhawk. The engine mount problem caused excessive movement of the engine and the transmission: fix $1872.00. Struts were causing some noise: $1630.00 for struts. There was not any excessive noise noticed by me before taking the car to Redhawk and Redhawk did not notice the engine mount problem. You would think they would do a test drive. When I drove away the noise was like a garbage truck filled with loose metal parts. They forgot the car came in for directional signal problems and a tight steering wheel. They refuse to accept any responsibility for their work or make any concessions to me, the customer. They deny the estimate from the dealer could be right. They thought I would return to have them fix more things and pay more money. The repairs could cost more than a trade in, although the car had only 90,000 miles. I offered to sell them the car, but they did not respond. Maybe they are waiting for me. They will keep taking your money as long as you give it to them. I am finished with Redhawk. First off there is a 145 dollar "inspection" fee. Ramona tires right down the street will inspect your car for free. No matter how little work they do on the car you are still required to pay that 145 so be prepared. If you are a young looking female they will not treat you as an adult. I have been to this shop three times. I am 23. They always ask if they should be talking to my parents. My dad gets work done there too and they won't acknowledge me as my own person, I am just "his daughter". I am the one paying, I am the one who owns the car, and I absolutely did not get the respect I deserve. Manny mumbles and talks very slowly and laughed at me when I said he only needs to speak to me, not my parents. I had a leaky radiator and was quoted 2000 to fix it. We asked for the breakdown. They charge $144 per hour of work. That would be okay, except they had tasks that should take SECONDS marked down as a full hour of work, such as POURING ANTIFREEZE INTO MY RADIATOR. They wanted 900 for a new radiator that all the shops nearby sell for 450, 500 max after shipping. I ended up doing the work with the help of my boyfriend and family, we replaced the radiator for $200 total and the car runs great. The radiator my car needed was $150, they didn't even recommend the one Redhawk was trying to put in my car. I talked to local car part shops while shopping for a radiator and every single shop told me never to go back to Redhawk and that they are absolutely scamming people. I am so offended and still so angry I gave this shop any of my money. Scott is the only one there who treated me like a human, I was very disappointed when I saw he was the one who made my itemized bill with the $900 radiator and 145 to pour antifreeze. Shame on you Scott, I know you're better than this shop. Update. The service owners response is ridiculous. I was never asked for an ID and would have had no trouble providing one. Also I have told your staff on multiple occasions that I am 23 and they never ID me and continue to treat me as a minor. read more

Charged me $130.00 To diagnose a leaky water pump then quoted me $2700.00 to replace it, so I called a few other places the first repair shop I called quoted me $900.00 second place I called quoted $840.00 I ended up getting it done for $630.00 for the same job, Red hawk auto also told me I need to replace the timing belt I found out that Car does not have a timing belt (Ridiculous) be very careful if you're considering doing business with these guys read more

For the second time this year, I made an appointment to have my car serviced at Redhawk. I've used these guys for several years and have had good service, they lived up to their word. But now.... Not so much. Just like last time, even though I had an appointment they did not have the right parts and an oil change that should have taken no more than an hour has dragged out to 6.5 hours and waiting. The last time, they did not top off the fluids and I had to do that myself even though I paid for the service. I get that help is hard to find right now, so how about you change up your business model and don't schedule appointments if you don't have the time, staff or parts? Took my car 3 times to have brakes replaced because they did a terrible job and had to re do over and over. Finally said enough dealership said it was because they were using crummy brakes (they claimed OEM) and lubed nothing. They charged me $750. The dealership did the same brake job and fixed it for $300. read more
