Brought my 2022 Tacoma Sport to Red Hawk Auto because the engine was shaking and I wanted it diagnosed. I let them know up front that I'm running aftermarket coils and spark plugs. They asked me to bring in my old coils and plugs so they could swap them back in. I didn't have them anymore, so I told them no worries--I'd just take the truck back. Even though no actual troubleshooting was done, I was still charged a diagnostic fee. What was frustrating is that nothing was really diagnosed. Later on, my buddy in the Marine Corps plugged in an OBD reader, saw it was cylinder 2, and did a simple coil swap to see if the misfire followed. That at least narrowed it down to whether it was the coil, plug, or the cylinder itself--something I expected from a paid diagnostic. As paid professionals of the trade, this isn't what anyone wants to see. I've come to this shop every couple of years with different vehicles, and they've never really gotten it right for me. Based on my experiences, I'd avoid this place. read more

Took my vehicle in for a simple check engine light and parasitic drain. Turns out it was the seat switch hitting my door. Charged me 2 diagnostic fees of $189 told me they replaced the seat switch and they did not. They just put a screw in the plastic and charged me over $1,000 for it. As far as the check engine light they charged me over $1,000 and the light came back on 2 days later. Avoid this place at all costs. Worst " mechanics" ever. We moved to Temecula October 2024 and had both our vehicles serviced here for a year. Every time we went in for an oil change the diagnosis had multiple red alerts and immediate attention, but when the rep would call they would say there is no concerns and try and sell me on other things not listed, like fluid changes because "summer is coming" (not during standard mileage marks), changing spark plugs "because there is no history of you having them done" etc. when I would ask about the red alerts they would brush them off and say next time, then when you go in next time they recommend totally different things be done to your vehicle and those alerts have mysteriously disappeared... We bought and have had both our vehicles serviced through Toyota (under warranty) and decided to giving this local shop a shot when the warranty was up. Going to Redhawk costed us 1000's on repairs/services that weren't truly needed. We started going to Accurate Auto outside of old town and they are the most genuine and honest repair shop we've come access to date. What Redhawk would quote 120 for an oil change then call and suggest 1000's in unneeded repairs, Accurate gets it done for less than 100, showed the diagnostics etc. My car would be at the Redhawk shop for 4+ hours to get an oil change before getting a call about what "needed to be done". It takes Accurate auto about 20 minutes to get the oil change and diagnostics done. Save yourself the stress and money and avoid Redhawk auto at all cost. read more

************* CONSUMER BEWARE ******************* Approximately four weeks ago, I brought my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Redhawk Auto Service, located next to the 7-11 on Apis Rd in Temecula, for rough idle. I was charged $189 for the diagnostic and told I would be contacted with the results. The next day I received a call from the shop advising that the #2 cylinder showed low compression and that it would cost me an additional $1,500 for the service tech to tell me what was causing the issue, but that it was likely a lifter or value issue which would require a replacement engine. I opted to pay for the diagnostic and seek a second opinion. Good thing I did, because the new mechanic stated there was nothing wrong with the engine's compression and he doubted that Redhawk even checked the compression. After replacing a fuel injector and timing solenoid, total cost $620 (including a second diagnostic) my Jeep has been running like its old self again. I brought this matter to the attention of Redhawk's service manager who stated he would investigate and get back to me. I am still waiting. The lesson here is stay clear of shady auto repair shops like Redhawk, only interested in relieving you of your hard-earned cash. Redhawk is the reason auto repair businesses have the shady reputation they do. Do your homework and locate a reputable shop. You have a better chance of buying a winning Lotto ticket at the 7-11 next door than expecting an honest analysis of your vehicle's repair needs from Redhawk Auto Service. read more

First off, I went to Redhawk and talked to Rob, as I've had very good service in the past. However, this experience was bad, and I'll never go back - Timing Chain Replacement. 1. Was given a call asking if I had worked on the timing chain, apparently there were "parts missing" (specifically the guides). No, had never worked on it. So as a "professional" they should have known the guides probably fell into the oil pan. But, they had put vehicle back together. Upon start up, very low oil pressure, starving engine. This was the reason for the call - low oil pressure and oh by the way, parts missing. Bad bad bad. 2. Charged another pretty penny to pull the oil pan, which most shops I called stated that's included in the "flat rate" for a timing chain job as you have to move the oil pan to get to the oil pickup tube bolt, necessary to remove oil pump covering timing chain. Again, this looks very very bad. Charge me time for work not done, then charge me again for work that should have been done. Shady. Add insult to injury: 3. Asked shop to replace water pump as it had to come off to replace timing chain. They went to O'Reilly's to get the part. Cost at O'Reilly's, $167, bill from Redhawk was $495. Wow, 300% markup. 4. Timing Chain Kit. Cloyes kit, O'Reilly's price: $97.99. Charged by shop: $326. Another 300% markup. 5. Had I not asked questions about why labor was added to the water pump (additional $500), they would have double charged for that too. I will never use this shop again. Ever. Update: Vehicle makes an intermittent grinding noise upon start up (new since returning to from shop). Suspect a damaged flywheel during the torquing process of the camshaft bolt or crank bolt. read more

We stopped going here. We got brakes done about 11 months prior to returning for an oil change. We were told we need new brakes. However, had only put on 6000 miles on our truck. Additionally, we were told that our 2016 Toyota Tundra needed a whole new engine with under 50,000 miles on it. Upon insisting that this truck was upkept and taken care of, we were told that a change of spark plugs would do instead of an entire new engine. We had been coming to Redhawk Auto for a couple of years but we absolutely refuse to go to this place now. I was recommended to come here from Les Schwab for a coolant check and after checking it out the guy discovered I needed more coolant. My car is only 5 years old and is European. Now this is where men at services centers take advantage of women who don't know what certain car services are needed or required. He basically sold me service for a coolant flush when I didn't even need it!!! I did not mix coolants and it still the auto makers coolant. Had I mixed an after market coolant with the original one THEN I would have needed one. Thank goodness I have a Father to navigate things like this. SCAMMERS!!!! My young daughter brought her 2007 Toyota Corolla in for a valve cover gasket leak. They gave her the "fair" price of $450 to do the fix. When I found out the price they were charging I called a mechanic of my own and was quoted $153 for the repair. When calling red hawk I was told they hadn't started the work and that the mechanic had left sick and they would get to her car later in the afternoon and I said great go ahead and cancel the service as they are ripping my daughter off. I told him I was quoted much lower and all of a sudden they were able to lower the price. I said no thanks as I would never trust you to do anything on our vehicles. She left and took the car to my mechanic for a total of $153 and was done 1.5 hours later. At red hawk she was never even given the original quote on paper ahead of them taking her vehicle and keys. ***picture added showing the price of $153. Took my vehicle to be inspected for A.C. service, and they charged me $359.98 just to be diagnosed. (Not towards repairs) Technician- Pual Pesce told Service Advisor- Richard Sambrano that I needed an ENTIRE A.C. Unit repair because my vehicle had leaks everywhere for a total of $3,400! I got a second opinion at Temecula Auto Repair and transmission. They told me that was an incorrect diagnosis that it was a simple A.c. system valve core. They even charged me way less money for the diagnosis used that money towards repairs! Now my a.c runs 1000% perfect. It's unfortunate that this local business puts a bad reputation on local mechanic shops and SCAM people for their hard earned money. Not being able to trust an honest, good mechanic. He said they're the only place he recommends because they are honest and a family owned place. And he was right! Manuel worked with me and he went through every single one of the error codes that my car was giving and what it means and what my car needs. He broke everything down into necessary and optional. He also called with updates (they weren't sure if I was going to need the ignition coils to be replaced until they first replaced the spark plugs). 10/10 customer service! I gave 3 stars because the gentleman who wrote me up was kind enough to apply a coupon for my oil change but I went there because I see them seeming to be pretty busy so I thought they must be good. I had a lot of maintenance done on my car before driving from Federal Way WA and my mechanic there, whom I wish I could have brought him here with me, had recommended replacing my radiator down the line. My car is a 1995 Lexus LS 400 but only has 129,000 miles. Changing radiator was suggested being the radiator is as old as the car. Well while getting oil change I asked for estimate for changing it. Redhawk said I didn't need to change it and gave me a list of $6,000 worth of other work which included water pump and timing belt which were done by mechanic in WA. 30,000 miles ago. I was blessed with vehicle for $5,000 with 102,000 miles. I will say there is definitely a difference in dealing with people in WA as opposed to CA. Now I'm not sure which way to go. My car runs better than some new cars which is why I try to keep it up but it won't be easy in CA read more

I have taken my vehicles in to Redhawk Auto for oil changes and smog checks a few times. They do a good job and provide a nice detailed report with photos after the service. The staff is responsive and they are reasonably priced. I just wish they had a lobby with a waiting room. They have two old plastic lawn chairs outside and that's the extent of space for customers to hang out and wait. It's not a deal breaker but it takes the experience down a notch hence the 4 star review. I haven't had to get my vehicles repaired so I can't speak to that area of service, but overall, I'd recommend Redhawk for basic car maintenance. read more
