I have been craving wings lately, so I came in to try them out. I was seated promptly and the server (tall, really long brown hair worn down, nice smile with a laid-back hippy vibe) approached me to take my order. Initially, I requested water but changed my mind and ordered a diet coke in a ToGo cup because I never finish those things. I had to flag my server down after waiting 5-10 minutes to get it. The Diet Coke came in an 10 oz. clear cup with 5 teeny melted ice cubes floating on the surface of the drink. The server was otherwise pleasant and helpful regarding my menu selection. I ordered 5 buffalo and 5 hot honey wings. The menu says it comes with carrots and celery--apparently, it does not. They will give you some if you ask (whuh?) Just them how many. My server with the 8"bare midriff at my eye level never checked back with me after I had a few bites of my wings. Neither wing sauce/rub was crave-worthy. The problem was that the wings had been dropped in the fryer twice or 3 times to reheat when an order came in. I know for sure the owner would flip if they knew their wings are being served that way. The skin was not crispy--it was hard and desiccated like those pig's ears sold for dogs. Same color too. The joints were rock hard and easy to spit out. The chicken meat was surprisingly moist-ish, tasty and copious for a wing. The poke-y skin would have caused pain in the soft tissues if you did not carefully navigate whilst biting into said wing. In restaurants, It's customary to bring an extra plate for the bones (and the rock-like joint material in this instance). Think ribs, mussels/clams or ribs--plates for these are usually brought to the table. The hot towel is a nice touch though. Unfortunately, I was not done eating when the hot towel arrived and when I was finally ready, it had already cooled. Plates were not bussed, ToGo box not offered, nor was the Coke re-iced and topped off. I had to twist in my chair to finally find my server behind me. While she was sweet and expressive, I was never a high priority. If you come to Redbird, get a hamburger.
Updating my review because I have yet to find a better quesabirria taco in Tucson. I had them at an event and went to the restaurant to see if they made them the same way as at the event, and they sure do. The tortilla is covered with the consommé and perfectly crispy, they're loaded with meat and just the right amount of cheese. I could eat a plate of these tacos weekly. Service was great, and our food came out quickly.
It's been a year and this place is still great. The service is tops. The place is clean and bright. The food amazing. Did the queso fundito and split the Nashville sandwich. No regrets
Food was Meh, it filled a void & service was the same. No need to teturn as there are many other options to try
Absolutely delicious! We shared the elote nachos with birria. Portion was huge and flavors were on 1000. We also tried their wings. I had the chile lime dry rub and loved it and my boy friend had the honey soy ginger which were pretty good as well (I wished more ginger came through!) service was great and friendly. The server saved us from ordering a burger as well I also had the margarita on happy hour which was yummy but it was Monday and they also had martini specials. Ambiance was modern and had great vibes. Not a huge place but they also had a nice patio. Will have to be back to try more!
Came here on a date! It was okay. The layout is cramped and it's loud. The ambiance is confusing and reminds me of a Chili's but cramped and brighter. I initially ordered the loaded wings in the jerk flavor. I tried the jerk sauce before ordering which was great. However on the wings not so much. There were a few issues. 1.) I asked for the wings fried hard. When they came out room temperate, I imagine that they have wings pre-fried hard to keep up with service which is gross. Also the wings are not cooked in the sauce so although the sauce was good...the under-seasoned wings paired with the sauce made for a not so good combination. I sent everything back and went for the Nashville got chicken sandwich which was SPICY but man was it GOOOD. I would definitely order that again. My date got the harvest salad with shrimp which was okay. It has some exciting things in there but the shrimp were essentially popcorn shrimp which I think is inappropriate for a restaurant this expensive. I orders two margarita. The first was perfect but the second was off. Almost as if a blanco was used for the first and mezcal for the second. It needed to be remade. Our server Olivia was very patient and understanding throughout the dining experience. Overall would not recommend. People seem to love this place and based off the recommendations to come here I thought I would have too.
Our experience this time was good but not as fabulous as two years ago. Cocktails are good, the Mexican Street Corn was delicious, and now they encourage getting tortilla chips to eat it either, which was fun. We shared the Quesabirria, good but not nearly as good as last time, not sure what they changed. We also shared the crispy shrimp tacos which were very good. Cute, usually very busy but sometimes you can walk in & get a table. Server was good but in the past we had a couple who were really outstanding.
Drinks were solid. Food was surprisingly good, I didn't have any expectations. It was a last minute choice for dinner. The elote nachos are not to be missed and I'm not a huge nacho person. Typically, nachos have some toppings and the bottom is all chips, not here. The sauce and toppings went all the way to the bottom, they layer it in. I have never had nachos as good as these, they are the best nachos I have ever had. The corn was super sweet, spicy peppers mixed in and the queso was the creamiest. The amount of effort and dedication to the quality and flavorful toppings and sauces was insane. The Sonoran burger was excellent. Large and juicy patty with creamy cheeses and a spicy chile. The bun was soft and buttery. Overall really good burger. The shrimp tacos were my least favorite, but they were still really really good. The portion was very generous, which isn't normal for shrimp tacos. I was low-key annoyed because the waitress asked my husband if he wanted to add fries to his burger and he did. When the food arrived we realized we had ordered way too much food. The food was really good, so I'm gonna forgive her. There were only three of us and we couldn't even come close to finishing all the food. We brought the nachos back and our family ate them cold and loved them. Portions are massive. The drinks were good, not as good as the food. Their Paloma is a little bit more of their own interpretation, but light and sweet with a spicy tajin rim. The old fashion was my favorite of the group, a very solid drink. I tried a seasonal drink and it was pretty bland. The service was good, maybe too good at upselling. We will definitely be back when in town.
Food was excellent! Had Birria tacos, and they were delicious! House margarita also exceptional! Service was fast and friendly. Place is clean and has relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend for great food and drinks!
A coworker recommended this place and I'm so glad they did. Stopped in for dinner to this cozy spot. If it was warmer I'd sit on the patio. I ordered the elote nachos added chicken a side of guacamole and the BBQ burger. I split my food with a family member and I was thankful they served the burger cut! The waitress was nice and attentive, food phenomenal. I never knew i was missing these nachos in my life but they were exceptional the flavors are amazing. The nachos although piled high were layered with ingredients throughout which is perfect because the chips at the bottom matter. Every bite was better than the last. Then the burger oh my! Flavorful from the 2 patties, BBQ sauce, tangy pickles it just worked! My only complaint is the guacamole was $5 and the portion was very small. I hope to be back soon when im in town and I'm definitely getting the nachos again.
Wife and I had lunch here the other day. We started with the Elote Nachos (see photo). Jeezus, enough for 4 people and nicely done. I liked the sweetness of the peppers. I was too full after eating way too many nachos, so opted for a small order of the classic wings. The spice level was nice, and they were crispy, the way I like them. The one negative: the blue cheese sauce was way too watery and didn't stick to anything you dipped in it. My wife had the Harvest salad, which she really enjoyed, but after the nachos she couldn't finish it. Service was great - very cheery and upbeat. The interior is pleasant but a little loud - might want to sit outside if you want to carry on a lengthy conversation. The burgers going by our table looked wonderful. Next time!!
Decided to give this place a try since it had such high reviews. It was very busy and loud when we arrived. We were seated quickly and order taken promptly. This place has typical bar food. Nothing special and doesn't help when you never see your waitress other than taking your order and bring the check. We will not be back as the experience and food were not worth the money. Much better options in the area.
Highly recommend Redbird scratch. My friend and I were passing through on a road trip and wanted to go somewhere highly rated that highlighted local cuisine! It did not disappoint! The pablano taco.... Sooooooooo good! Must try the taco! read more

I was finally able to visit Redbird with some friends who are huge fans and I get the hype now! The atmosphere is great, with plenty of tables and seats at the bar and the place has a modern and chic vibe. I ordered the Elote Nachos with birria and not only were all of the flavors excellent but the portions were absolutely huge and I had so much to take home. I also tried the seasonal Witch Don't Kill My Vibe which was such a delicious drink with a great balance of flavors. I'm so glad I was finally able to visit and those may be my favorite nachos in the city! The servers were very attentive and I am really looking forward to going back soon! read more

Hi Jenna, thanks so much for finally coming in and for the awesome…
My partner and I stopped in for lunch over the weekend. I have a tendency to peruse the menu of restaurants I plan on visiting, and I was so excited to try the food at Redbird that I wasn't sure what I would get when we were actually there! Although everything looked good, I had to eventually settle on something, so we ordered two appetizers and an entree: the garlic confit pretzels, loaded waffle fries with birria, and loaded buffalo wings. Of the things we ordered, the garlic confit pretzels were my favorite. The pretzels came out piping hot, and they were topped with the perfect amount of salt (I dislike it when pretzels are too salty). They came with mustard, cheese dip, garlic confit, and sweet peppers. The best combination was a spread of garlic confit, topped with a little pepper, then dipped in cheese for a savory, salty bite with a hint of sweetness. Amazing! My partner said that the buffalo wings were really good and that the toppings (bleu cheese crumbles, sauteed celery and carrots, and drizzled with ranch) really elevated the dish. He had one complaint, that the wings themselves were dry, but everything else was so good that it didn't ruin his experience. Overall, I had a lovely time dining at Redbird Scratch Kitchen, and I'm excited to stop in again to try more of their unique and tasty offerings! read more
For a what appears to be a chain, the good is good and so is the service. I could not finish my burger, I had to take half of it home. The place is clean and not too noisy. I noticed some sound absorption boards, this way I was able to have a conversation. My whole thing is that food should be a celebration every time I go out and pay money that I worked for. I felt a good vibe there from the staff, the manager not so much. I will be back! read more

Let me start off by saying WOW! The food was DELICIOUS!! My husband and I aren't local, so we went with something nearby where we were traveling to and that looked good. On the outside, Redbird looks like any other small cafe. But, the food says otherwise!! We kicked off our dining experience by ordering a freshly squeezed lemonade and a Redbird margarita. Both were so so good. For our entrees, my husband ordered the Blue Mushroom Burger with a side of fries and I got 3 tacos (crispy shrimp, grilled shrimp, and carne asada). We both kept saying "wow, this is so good" during our whole meal. I didn't ask, but I'm pretty sure the ketchup and ranch were homemade too and dang they were good. My husband's burger was cooked perfectly and he loves blue cheese, so he absolutely loved it. The fries also had a perfect crunch and were very tasty. My tacos were top notch. My favorite was probably the crispy shrimp taco, 2nd was the grilled shrimp, and lastly the carne asada. I asked for the pickled veggies on top and it added extra flavor. Be prepared, the peppers they add to the shrimp tacos are spicy! We both ate every last bite of our meal. A sweet surprise at the end was the hot towels they give you to wipe your hands off which I thought was so cute and such great hospitality. Overall, an amazing experience and for an out of towner, I'm so happy we went to Redbird. I'd highly recommend!! read more

We came out from Phoenix and wanted a nice quiet supper, what a surprise, it was so loud. Of course it was nice for outside seating. The weather was perfect with a nice cool breeze so we could also enjoy the sunset. The food was delicious. We're not much for smash burgers, but the Red Bird Classic was pretty pretty darn good, and big with 2 patties. The 3 taco deal was fantastic. Barria, Pollo Asado, Chili Rajas was amazing. Tons of flavor, like a party in your mouth. Carne Asada tacos were perfectly cooked. The Harvest Salad w/ Chicken was big enough for two, AND was served as such. Bella was our server and she was great, we were a high maintenance table and she took it in stride, with a wonderful sense of humor. When we get back down to Tucson we'll make it a point to stop at Red Bird, but we'll be sitting outside, unless it's in the middle of summer of course. LOL! read more

We had an amazing dinner at Redbird Scratch Kitchen. Started with Cadillac Margaritas and salsa with chips. Salsa was amazing, mild, medium and hot all of them were very flavorful. Then our Tacos came, we had Grilled shrimp, Carne Asada and a birria taco. They were delicious. The waitress brought us steaming hot towels to wash up with, that was a very nice touch Fun place and can't wait to go back when it's a little warmer and sit on the outdoor patio. read more

The most overpriced and worst tacos in town. Their $5 "large guacamole" is literally a $1 side at any legit Mexican taco shop! And their steak is bland and rubbery. We're never going again. read more

In town to move our daughter back to college. Family loves a good happy hour. Found this place. Drinks were strong and tasty. Daughter got the mojito, I had the gold grade martini , and my wife had the lemon drop martini. Mojito and Gold Grade Martini were the best. Also tried the Redbird shots. Food we got the pretzel and Mac and cheese. Both delicious. As for the main course we shared the wings and BOG burger. Everything was good. Highly recommend this place for food and drinks. Service was good as well as the atmosphere. Make reservations though, it got busy and we were glad to have one. read more

My son said the lemon pepper chicken wings were some of the best that he's ever had . The loaded chicken wings were very creative, delightfully messy and flavors Blended very well . We had the one with elote. We also had the Arizona Nashville chicken sandwich which was delicious and very filling. The chicken breast was juicy and good quality. What a find!! We ordered the Elote Nachos and just were thrilled how flavorful they were. We did add carne asada to them and this appetizer fed both of us. We brought our chicken sandwich home because neither one of us wanted to stop eating the nachos. My picture was taken after I'd grabbed a plate full. The food was amazing and then they brought us warm hand towels to clean up with. Such a thoughtful gesture. The ambiance was perfect for those who want to sit in a bar/ tv area and those that prefer a quieter environment to sit and visit. Will definitely be returning. read more

John, Sergio, and Rory opened an amazing place. I may be have slow getting in here but I'm making up for time lost. I've been in twice (my husband 3 times) and thoroughly enjoyed EVERYTHING!! First visit I got the mac and cheese and it had a kick that I loved and the cheeses used were so creamy; the whole thing lasted me days. The burgers are so good. Tonight we shared the Elote Nachos with birria. I don't say this lightly and the hubby agrees, BEST NACHOS EVER! I don't think there was a naked chip to be found. They source the perishables locally, fry the chips every morning, dry their own fruit for drinks, make the salsas (really good), and squeezethe juices for coctails. There is an atmosphere of friendship and happiness with everyone. We met John, one of the owners, and watched him with the staff and they like him and working there, it's obvious. Julian has been our server and bartender both times and he's the type of employee we'd all want on our team. He is taking care of everyone at the bar, all the drink orders, the tables around the bar, and he's cool and takes his time. He helps out others, has time to be there for the customers, and seems to be liked by all. The whole staff looks like they want to be there. They have a pretty good happy hour but get there early, they fill up fast. Both times we have been there, they've filled up by 1630. Clean restrooms and kitchen area. One last thing... they give you hot towels at the end of the meal! Where else can you get all this? Watch for #2 hopefully coming later summer or early fall. read more
Loved the food today! We had a large group and they were able to get us in pretty quickly, and they were extremely friendly and worked with us. The waiter we had was attentive and remembered all small details. The inside is cute and small. Will definitely be coming back! Prices are a little high but so is the quality of the food. Nachos were a hit at the table! read more

After way too long we finally made our first visit to Redbird! I always love a good scratch kitchen and craft cocktails and Redbird delivered on both! The smells and sights of plates leaving the kitchen immediately let us know we were in food a good time. We garlic confit pretzel had me angry it was so good (like why am I just now having this?!) - I would gladly take a jar of the garlic. The Sonoran burger was sloppy and flavorful- I personally don't like avocado so next time I would go without. The redbird chicken was so good- keep it right with the grilled chicken! Couldn't not get fries - and a small for only $5 was perfect to share. The cocktails were amazing- both in taste and presentation. We even went for it with a Redbird Shot (very very tasty)! As a bird lover I of course love the decor and vibes. The staff were all super friendly and answered all our questions as we pointed to plates at other tables (next time we will get the dessert)! read more

Had a great experience here with service and food. The restaurant hss a nice vibe with plenty of seating inside and outside. There's a small bar with seating, too. We ordered their chicken and carne asada tacos, and also had their queso & chips. My favorite were their chicken asada tacos. There's a delicious green sauce they put on top! They also have delicious iced tea. We will definitely return! read more
