Chocolate croissants

Granddaughter's graduation at Chico State so we stopped by afterwards. We had reservations for six but had to wait at the bar for 10 -15 minutes before being sat. Ambiance felt a bit chaotic, not welcoming as a white table clothe restaurant should be! Watched bartender making drinks which wasn't too appealing. Waitress finally sat us and took our order. Appetizers arrived shortly after and was very unimpressed. The deviled eggs were old and underfilled and the chocolate croissants were reheated with globs of chocolate poured on top. Dutch baby looked like a crepe and the breakfast burger which was 1/2 beef and 1/2 sausage was undercooked! Fish and chips barely had any tarter sauce, greasy and full of batter. They must have had an off day cause nothing was good. Manager did stop by so we were candid. He was very nice and professional.

The Red Tavern is top shelf. We came here for our 35th Anniversary and we were not disappointed we chose this place. The food was just wonderful and drinks were always good. We had the best time and enjoyed our meal. Service was excellent as you'd expect at an upper echelon restaurant. The vibe is a quiet elegance, and was great! Thanks for making our celebration excellent!

Perfect! Fantastic! Can't wait to go back. Great atmosphere, food was delicious, service was great. The owner was very personable and made us feel at home. Great menu. We sat and enjoyed our time there for my birthday for almost 3 hours. Wine, cocktails, appetizers, entrées, and dessert order very good. Can't say enough good things!

The reservation staff was the beginning of an excellent experience. The new owners have built a wonderful team. Bailey was so refreshing as our server with excellent service a fun comebacks to our teasing. The food was wonderful and they made special accommodations for our elderly party. We will be back!

Sunday brunch! Their 2nd weekend in and it was delicious. Our server Amanda was there for recommendations and looked after us so well during our meal. We started with the deviled eggs which were all equally tasty. We did the spicy crab Benedict and the duck confit hash. The Benedict had the perfect amount of spice, and was served with a warm potato salad. That potato "salad" ended up being a favorite part. Roasted potatoes, tomatoes, and capers. Wow! Duck hash was yummy. There's something to be said for food that is prepared so lovingly and is so balanced you don't want for anything. We sat inside but the patio had someone spinning records which will be fun for next time. Reservations recommended, and I can see why when this gets more popular! My only request would be an online option to do this.

Alsatian Tarte Flambee appetizer! It was amazing!

Came here for our anniversary and had the best time! We sat on the patio which was nice and cool thanks to all the trees and shade! They had a little sign on our table saying happy anniversary which was so sweet. Our server was great she was super nice and attentive. We started with some delicious cocktails and the tarte appetizer. I love how the menu slightly changed to serve what was is in season. The tomatoes and arugula were delicious in it. They also have an option for $16 to add a salad or soup and a dessert to any entree. We both got the Caesar and they were great. I loved the meatloaf and would definitely order it again, my husband enjoyed the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. We both ended the meal with the bread pudding and gelato. I also love how they have wine pairing suggestion for all of the entrees that made selecting a wine easy! This is a great spot if you wanna come celebrate or just have a nice meal. I'd love to come back here with friends and share some appetizers and some wine!

Connor was our server and was especially patient this as a family of 6 it a 4 year old in tow. It was a lively evening where everyone tried something new and all of it was delicious. a really nice lady whom I am sure was either an owner or part of the management team, brought our little one crayons to color with while we waited. Her the gentleman manager/owner also helped clear out first course and Conner kept our wine glasses from being empty. We had a lovely time. Thank you to all of the staff that assisted us with our evening!

Sunlight danced across playfully colored walls, instantly making the space feel welcoming and alive. Innovative and classic cocktails are offered alongside beer and a modest wine selection. The mocktails looked wonderfully thirst-quenching, but my soul was calling for an orange wine. It served its purpose quite nicely. The menu centers on healthier bar food options, and the intention comes through beautifully. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtfully sourced, and lovingly prepared rather than simply assembled. The offerings lean playful, with subtle Asian influences that keep things interesting. Our group chose to lean in on the more indulgent side of the menu. The rice tots? Unexpected, whimsical, and absolutely worthy of sharing, crispy little conversation starters. We enjoyed this starter with a little bowl of seasoned mixed nuts. But let's discuss the pastrami sandwich. A glorious indulgence layered with melty cheese, kimchi slaw, and piled onto a locally baked brioche bun. Restraint was simply not invited to this meal. My dinner companions opted for the cheeseburger and were completely delighted. Classic in concept, but elevated in execution, right down to the burger sauce, which struck that elusive perfect balance of tangy, savory, and craveable. And the fries? Skinny, McDonald's-style (yes, that's a compliment), with exactly the right crunch and seasoning. Roselle manages that lovely balancing act of feeling casual yet intentional, playful yet polished. A very happy little find in Chico, California.

I asked if she recommended anything and it was as if she didn't want to interact. We ended up getting pho, steak skewers, rice tots, fried chicken sandwich. I ordered a mocktail which was great. Food was ok, would like to try something else next time. Hubs thought the cheese on the chicken sando was "weird". It's a pretty bar.

Drinks were fun and fresh Staff attentive and really made us feel welcome Vibe - LOVE IT! The booths are amazing and I love that it was the towne lounge so there's lots of history! Food - the lobster lasagna was delicious. Prime rib cooked on point and loved the sides, they were a little small but the meat made up for it! The duck, it had good flavor but wasn't our favorite good sides though!! 2nd time there.... Staff seemed a little stressed and not as friendly VIBE - LOVED IT! The music started right when we got there and it was perfect for our dinner date. Food - kinda made me sad. The halibut was cooked well but over salted and when it was plated it was a little rough looking. The lamb - tough and did not enjoy it, the rice was bland but the veggies were on point! The others had lobster lasagna and enjoyed and the prime rib and it was just so so that night. drinks: Espresso martini was tasty but served in an odd glass!! Wine was nice and of course when you get anything on the rocks you know what you are in for. Sweets: The Cassata (if I spelled that right) sounded amazing but left us unimpressed. The apple tart had great flavor and was warm which was a nice touch! Overall the 1st visit would have had 5 stars but the 2nd is really a 3 stars so I went with 4. I will try going back because I really want them to do good and enjoy the atmosphere there!!!

So if I was basing they review on food alone it's an easy 4 to 4.5 stars. Service was lacking. I arrived first and took a small table in the very back corner. When the waiter came by I let them know I was meeting a friend I hadn't seen in over a year and we were planning a long lunch. It was a Saturday afternoon and not busy. My guest arrived and the sever didn't come back for at least 10 min. But ok. No biggie. We ordered a soda and an iced tea. When those arrived we ordered food. My tacos came quickly and then we sat, looking at my food while we waited for the other entrée, the burger. 10 minutes later it shows up served by another server, no explanation or even acknowledgement that it took 10 minutes between me being served and my companion being served. Anyway our server was MIA for the rest of our stay. No offer of a refill for our beverages, no asking if the food was ok. Nothing. We stayed about 2 hours total and my normal policy is to double the tip because I have taken a table for about twice as long as normal. Unfortunately service was sub par. Oh and tea was incredibly strong not in a good way.

We were promptly seated, and given a great spot near the wall-sized indoor fountain which was nice. We started with cocktails and appetizers, and they all came out quickly. We started with bread, which was excellent. We moved on to the grilled artichokes, which were also pretty special. The jalapeno aioli added to the smokiness of the grilled artichokes. We loved them. The bib salad was also a treat - nice chop, and the lardons were perfectly cooked little flavor bombs that stood up nicely to the blue cheese. We had the lobseter ravioli, and the single-layer crispy lasagne for our meals. The lobster ravioli was delicious, and the freshly made sundried tomatoes added a little extra structure to balance the plate. The single layer lasagne was really interesting. Wasn't sure what to expect, and the server said it was a little controversial, so I tried it. It came out as a large sheet - fresh spinach pasta sheets, layered with a delicious bolognese sauce, and topped with pesto and bechamel. Unconventional? Yes. Delicious? YES! I'm so glad I was feeling experimental - it was an innovative dish. Overall, we loved it. Service was very solid - attentive, without being intrusive. Perfect evening! Previous review: Dropped in here just to check it out. We came early on Thursday, and it was jumping! In the past we came for Happy Hour as their appetizers, pizzas, and small plates are delicious. Yesterday we decided Crush was the place for our 14-year anniversary, and it exceeded expectations. The food was delicious as always (I had the Allen Prime Rib and my wife had the Short Rib Stroganoff). But what took it over the top was our server - Ethan. He was friendly, warm, personable, attentive, and on top of everything. Being at a great restaurant with great food is only a GOOD experience if your server is disengaged, but when your server is awesome, it elevates everything. My wife and I ended the evening highly satisfied and grateful. Thank you Crush (and Ethan) for such a great anniversary night.

I know, I know, its a…read morecollege town, don't gripe about the college kids... but holy hell its nice to hang out with the grown ups sometimes! A couple of tips for the newbie adult headed to this VIP lounge: 1) Make sure to get your booty up there prior to 9pm (after 9pm there is a $10 cover charge) 2) $10 isn't going to break the bank, I get it however, it IS a key bit of info so take it for what its worth. (Its worth ten bucks, ha!) Make sure that if you should arrive before 9, like for happy hour, and stay after 9, that your given a wrist band so you can wander from floor to floor without having to pay the entry fee 3) If you get there prior to 9pm and have a person or people you actually want to speak (and not yell at) the music is at a normal level so carrying a conversation is tres easy. Beware, after 9pm they PUMP up the volume so be prepared to yell your conversation after that time frame kicks in 4) And speaking of 'tres' this bar is tres chic, there is a ton of cozy seating, you can go find a booth which is semi private or go more public and choose a table out in the open (along with more cozy seats) 5) They have an 'L' shaped pool table, very weird but very cool and ultra different. I've never seen one quite like it anywhere else 6) The martini selection is pretty tasty (see my pix) and the prices are right up my alley (marginally priced and well worth it) 7) The absolute BEST part of my experience here at the VIP Ultra Lounge was Stephanie. The adorable, extra friendly bartender/waitress, literally, the best little thing located upstairs. Her personality ROCKED. She gave me mini tour and being that it was my first time here, while she toured, she explained all the bars (total of 4), their highlights and best times to have fun at each of them. Seriously treated me in TOTAL VIP fashion, what a gem!! The cool thing about this bar is that its connected to 3 other totally different (un-VIP, just made up that word) bars. So... if you get tired of being a snobby VIP, you can take your wasty face downstairs and kick it with the college kids. Good thing #8... if your walking sideways and acting like a drunk monkey, you'll blend right in :) Dance, scratch your butt, do a shot then fall on the floor, hey! Have a good time!

I enjoyed my melon mojito- with none of the stickiness or smell associated with most the venues in Chico. I get that Chico isn't used to paying much of a cover charge at all, but I'd rather pay a cover and go somewhere gorgeous, comfortable & clean. I used to love the Bear & LaSalles, but you go there after a few drinks because otherwise you'd never get past the smell and in the door. You can smell them from outside. Yuck. Other than harping on the fantasticness of a clean place- my husband has enjoyed his drinks there as well, we've had tacos and a steak/gorganzola pizza during happy hour- all good stuff. And that explains why I'm headed there in 40 minutes to celebrate the end of my work week!
