First time here. This place is the best place ever. Amazing sushi, food but most of all the service. Hong lee is the best! Fun place. The chef and owners are so generous. This will definitely be our go to place.

This is by far my favorite sushi spot in the OC. Everything is fresh and they have a great selection for nigiri. Amazing customer service from Chef and his wife. I've been introducing a lot of my friends to this place and they loveeee it!

The service here is exceptional! The menu has a wide array of high quality fish. The food came out quickly and presentation was beautiful. I especially liked the toro with caviar. The staff was so friendly and it was such a highlight of dining here. At the end of the meal we got coconut peanut ice cream that was perfect.

A dessert with peanuts. Not overly sweet-- so perfect

I came in for dinner and sat at the bar and ordered the omakase--everything was incredible. Each piece tasted fresh, clean, and well-balanced, with nothing overly saucy or overwhelming. They didn't have sweet shrimp that night, so it was replaced with lobster, which felt like such a treat. I didn't catch the lady's name who help served me (so I'll call her Ms.), but she was absolutely wonderful--so kind, attentive, such a vibe, contagious laughter, and full of great recommendations. She brought out a miso soup with a twist: hints of chili oil (it seems) and garlic with fresh tofu. It wasn't grainy at all and was incredibly comforting and flavorful. The chef also offered me monkfish to try. While the texture and cut were a little different for me, the bite itself was still enjoyable. I then asked for a special I had seen in another post--foie gras, uni, and black cod--and it was AMAZING. Easily the highlight of my dinner. For my last course, I asked the chef to surprise me, and he served shima aji, which once again did not disappoint. When I was finishing up, Ms. asked if I wanted dessert and checked to see if I like peanuts nut, then brought out something like a coconut sweet cream ice cream. It instantly brought back nostalgic childhood flavors--like chè in ice cream form. Not too sweet and the perfect way to end the meal. Everyone was incredibly kind and attentive, and I truly enjoyed my entire experience. I've wanted to try this place when it was opened in Garden Grove, so I'm happy they reopened and moved closer to me. I will definitely be back.

Red Sake honestly blew me away! I needed to plan a birthday dinner for my friend and he requested sushi, but I knew the places in my area were either too small or too expensive for our group. So I took a chance and called Red Sake and made a reservation over the phone, I even called the next day to add an extra person to make a total of 12 people and they accommodated me no problem! Once we arrived, the ambiance and the service was amazing. Our server was such a delight and all the food and drinks came out so quickly and everything was delicious! I ordered the albacore dream roll and the seared albacore on top was so tender! They even heard us singing happy bday to our friend and after we had finished our food, they brought him an ice cream with a sparkler candle and even brought free ice cream for the whole table! So impressed with this place and my friends kept telling me what a great spot I found! Would recommend this spot to anyone and honestly can't wait to go back!

Red Sake's back ! On the corner of Brookhurst and Mcfadden -lots of parking might I add. You can see the restaurant from the street as you drive on Brookhurst. Dined on Wednesday, no wait. Opted for omakase at the bar ($65pp, 8 courses). Complimentary spicy edamame. Appetizers: Ordered calamari and 6 kumamoto oysters. I highly* recommend the oysters. So good, perfectly briny and of course small. Not a fan of big oysters so this is just a personal preference. Next time, will do a dozen oysters mmm 8 course omakase (not the correct order): Scallops. Yellowtail. Salmon belly. Cod. Tuna. Ankimo. Toro. Kampachi. Everything was so good ! Just how I remembered it. Chef Alberto was so kind and attentive. He even let us try Japanese uni -the last time I had this was 3 years ago in New York sighs. Good Japanese uni just hits differently. I'll order this next time ! Owner Chi Hong was so funny and kind as well -overall a very enjoyable experience. I even got complimentary coconut ice cream ! It was reminiscent of those durian, mung bean, coconut and red bean vietnamese ice cream sticks that used to sell for $0.50 long ago. I asked if I could to go since I really wanted my dad to try it. Chi Hong was so gracious and even added more scoops. ...That made my inner child really happy. Haven't felt inclined to write a review in a while as most dining experiences have been subpar but Red Sake was just too amazing. A lot of friends have been curious about Red Sake and are now excited to try. Not a paid review or anything, I've always loved Red Sake and I'm just happy there's a closer, amazing sushi place :) Notes: -Fridays/Saturdays, live DJs -plenty of parking -accepts catering -does nyotaimori

Everything was amazing! Each plate was carefully plated with beautiful small details and made with love. Even the ginger tasted better. Very good quality sushi used. We went during dinner rush with only one server, so it was a little bit slow at first getting our order taken. However food came out quickly and the server tried her best to be accommodating and to check on us regularly. They gave us free edamame and dessert as well. The blood oranges they gave were very sweet and refreshing. Will definitely be back!

I really love this place. The sushi is really good for what they offer. I love our server; she's really funny and feels like your favorite older sister. Her laugh is infectious. The decorations are cute and feels like a themed restaurant. This is the second time I've been here and enjoy my dinner experience both times. Our server always gives us free ice cream at the end and it's really good too. I love it here and I wish more people will come here just to support them.

The sushi was surprisingly good for an ayce shabu spot and there were 4-5 roll options to choose from. I love that each table has a screen to order drinks, appetizers, meats, and desserts because it made the whole dining experience run so seamlessly (especially for our large group) and we weren't left waiting for any food to come! The price for AYCE is $37.95 which is pretty fair, it included limited special items such as sashimi, sweet shrimp, jumbo scallop, amberjack, salmon belly, and more. Although the special items were limited, having one of each is enough given the large variety on the menu. (Pro tip, come with a big group of friends so you can have the pieces from those who don't want their portion) Everything was super fresh and the presentation was beautiful. You can tell the chef puts a lot of effort into every plate. My favorite items were the salmon belly, sweet shrimp sushi, and baked green mussels. So buttery and delicious! We ended our meal with the fried banana ice cream. I thought the fried banana would be heavy after a big meal, but it didn't feel that way at all. It was yummy, creamy and refreshing. It's hard not to feel heavy after having ayce but luckily we ordered just the right amount of everything! The restaurant is small but offers a good amount of seating from tables to a sushi bar and even a small patio. The parking lot is small since it shares a parking lot with a few other businesses, but i've never had a problem finding parking here. The service was absolutely amazing and genuinely made our entire dining experience better, our server Stella and Chef Min were the best! The restaurant was empty when we got there but I really hope that changes soon because this is one of my new favorite sushi restaurants in OC!

So, this time I place a smaller amount in there, and took a photo, in case she come back saying it was not enough again. It was $53, for $47.69. She took the payment and didn't come back. I had to make sure everything was ok. I asked for the change. She brought back the change, and I tipped her. But the receipt was showing that I paid $50, which was incorrect, as you can see in the photos. The money and the receipt didn't match. Two things was wrong: 1). The payment was more than enough the first time, but it came back short. 2. The waitress didn't bring back the change on the second time. No matter how much the change is, always bring back the change, most of the times the customers will tips more than the change for good service. People don't tips well for dishonesty or bad service. Their menu offers a great range of premium beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and other Japanese BBQ favorites, with plenty of options to keep the table trying something different throughout the meal. Every cut we tried was flavorful, tender, and beautifully prepared, and honestly, the food itself was not the issue at all--it was amazing. Service: 0/5 We came to Himizu to celebrate our engagement with family, so unfortunately, the service we received made the experience especially disappointing. Our waiter, Ryan, served us from approximately 7 PM to 9 PM, and throughout the meal he was rarely attentive; despite the restaurant having only about five tables occupied and one runner, our grill was changed only once--and only after we asked. When we asked about our additional meat after waiting approximately 20 minutes, we were concerned because we were already working within the restaurant's 90-minute dining window. Instead of simply acknowledging the concern, Ryan appeared visibly irritated that we were asking. What happened next was especially disappointing: he brought the meat to our table roughly and shoved the plates onto the table and into my plate, causing sauces to spill onto my attire. There was absolutely no reason for that level of aggression or carelessness, especially when we were simply asking about food that had been delayed. Vibe: 2/5 This one hurts because my first experience here was completely different. I had an amazing waiter the first time, and that experience was good enough that I came back another 2-3 times and genuinely wanted to continue recommending this place. Unfortunately, this experience made me feel unwelcome and has me second-guessing whether I would bring new people here again. Pictured is what was knocked and spilled my sauce tray over me The overall experience is also worth considering when looking at the price. We spent approximately $350 for the premium menu and sake, around $87 per person, so when you're spending that much, you expect the food AND the hospitality to match. Food: amazing. Staff interaction: horrible. Price: significant. Experience: disappointing. So my question is: Would you come back to an establishment with amazing food and a beautiful experience in the past, but where the service is this poor--especially when you're paying a premium price? For me, great food can bring me through the door once, but great service is what makes me want to come back.
