We couldn't find a place to go with 11 people so we somehow ended up here. But it didn't disappoint! They were accommodating to our big group and the sushi and sashimi were super fresh. Enjoyed everything we ordered. The ambiance was nice as well!
such a cute little spot in Huntington Beach, and the service here is phenomenal. I couldn't even tell if we had a single designated server because everyone, manager included, consistently checked in on us. This might just be the best sushi spot in HB, not only for the variety and quality of fish, but also for the appetizers, which are incredible. I usually stick to nigiri at sushi restaurants, but even the other dishes here are impressive. Tuna Pizza: 9/10 - Perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness, spiciness, and creaminess. The ratio of crispy rice to tuna was immaculate, and the portion of fish was generous. Lobster Wrapped Yellowtail: 9/10 - Not sure I have the dish name exactly right, but it's basically a heaping portion of lobster meat wrapped in seared yellowtail. The textures complemented each other beautifully, and the portion size was great too. Nigiri: 10/10 - Super fresh, clean, and an enormous selection to choose from. Oyster Shooters: 10/10 - simple and fresh and well-balanced flavours. Ankimo: 10/10 - Best ankimo i've ever had hands down. Just the right amount of buttery creaminess while still firm. Again, very generous portion size.
Food was amazing and very fresh! We ordered the sashimi sampler, black cod and scallop nigiri, steamed black cod. Both versions of the cod were amazing while being so different. Highly recommend to try both. Service was top notch with great recommendations. Our server was very informative about the menu and helped answer all questions. Restaurant is very cute and clean which shows the attention to detail. Highly recommend to check it out.
One of my favorite places in HB to get sushi. We celebrated my son's birthday here recently. Great service, fresh and excellent sushi.
Fish was fresh. Salmon and fatty tuna were good. Oddly enough the quality of the salmon sashimi in the dinner platter versus the sashimi platter were not the same. The sashimi platter was superior. Oyster and uni were fresh, but I like my oysters muddier. These were very clean tasting, which is fine, if that is your jam. Service was great. The waitress brought out miso soup for everyone because the kids were eyeing my soup. The birthday ice cream were both high quality with a lot of flavor. Overall, this place is on the higher side in terms of pricing.
Stopped by for lunch with my MIL. Gotta say, this place is great! So my MIL grew up in Hawaii. They would go down to docks to buy their fish fresh off the boats. She was VERY pleased with her lunch choice (lunch Sushi bar combo). She might be old, but eating yummy food is still her fav food thing in the world. She raved at the freshness of her fish! Nice thick slices of salmon, maguro & hamachi(?). "Oh this is too much food! I can't eat all this!". 20 mins later her plate was clean! Except for the side salad, which I brought home and had for a snack later. My choice of the bento lunch box was also great. Grilled salmon atop julienne carrots & snap peas. VERY GOOD. The assorted tempura was also great. A couple shrimp, shishito pepper, kabocha, nice thick onion slice. Man oh man, they do a really nice job. Reminds me of Carlos Junior in Torrance. Salad was nice, but the star of the bento was the RICE! Yeah it's just rice... NO! This rice is special. Each separate grain, REALLY white. A lot of care went into washing, steaming this rice. Asked our server, Colin. Yes they told me it's very expensive & it's from Japan. Well, it shows. Because it's REALLY good. My usual brands I use at home are Tamanishiki or Kotohira. Mid to higher grade from Tokyo Central. I wash it and cook it in my Zojirushi. Even if I cooked my rice in a Donabe, it would still be home cooked pretty good rice. Not like the rice they serve here. Which is outstanding. When an establishment takes the extra step with rice (as a sushi restaurant should), it shows the care & pride they have sharing what they prepare for their guests. I love this place. Next time gotta come with a couple girlfriends paying with our dime, not as a guest.
Hidden GEM! Service and food far exceeded our expectations. We had a red dragon roll was so refreshing (took picture late), and spicy tuna crunch rolls were amazing! They have mastered tempura for sure. As a treat, we had the spicy tuna pizza pie. Just order it, you will thank me later. Deep fried rice with spicy tuna and sauces. AMAZING!! Seriously the best service I had in a long time. 10/10 Highly recommend. Did I mention everyone was super friendly too? Yes they were.

Service is on point and the ambiance is perfect for the classic dine-in experience when wanting to wind down after work. Just a heads up (although I may be condemned for this) do not order from the regular menu. Order from the chalkboard which has their daily specials. You have to try their live prawns, black cod and golden-eyed snapper. They do have a sushi pizza that is delicious but beware if you don't want to fill up fast then go ahead and order it.

Truly I would give it a 3.5. service was fantastic - everyone was super friendly and welcoming, and the wait staff were truly amazing. The miso butter fish? Absolutely incredible! Seriously, that dish alone was worth the trip. However, the overall experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The prices felt a little steep, especially considering the food quality. It was all good, don't get me wrong, but not mind-blowingly amazing. We even got a little surprised by the edamame charge - we thought it was complimentary! And for the price we paid (almost $200 for two, no alcohol!), we could've treated ourselves to a splurge at a fancier sushi place.
WhereTF have I been strikes again! I had been to related Hashigo Korean Kitchen (now closed) many times, but I had never been to Hashigo Sushi in my own back yard until a recent Fri night: Shame on me! Its located on Main near Beach in HB. The three of us sat at the sushi bar, and we were glad we did. Our chef, Ryo was super nice, and had expert skills. My two fave dishes were the amaebi w/ quail egg & roe, and the hotate w/ uni & caviar. In addition, he also suggested unagi w/ sea salt vs the traditional sweet sauce. It was so nice to enjoy the unagi w/o the sauce. Hashigo is big w/ a large sushi bar, and tables inside and out. When we left around 7 pm the place was packed. Our waitress was also super nice, and took care of our sake needs. She also gave us free ice cream (lychee or green tea). My two dinner companions are sushi snobs: They only go to high end places. They were (as I was), very impressed w/ the quality of the fish, Ryo's knife skills, and the excellent service. My dinner companions are already planning for a return visit w/ more friends.
OMG, Am I back in Japan?! F O O D So damn good. Sashimi was so fresh and they are generous with their protein servings unlike so many other sushi places. We got the Hashigo Sashimi Sampler, Salmon Skin Salad and a bunch of Nigiri. The sampler came first and let me just say the signature sauces with the 'melt in your mouth' sashimi was the tell that we'd be back again and again. Salmon skin salad and nigiri have been our staples as well since we've been back! S E R V I C E Elite. Everyone is so friendly and attentive; from the greeting at the door to the table and if you're lucky the sushi chef if you're seated at the sushi bar! It seems like they all work together as a team to give the customers the best experience possible. V I B E S Again, reminds me of Japan. Love that they have a sushi bar but they also have tables as well as outdoor seating that IS covered. It's not super bright in there which also gives mellow, loungey, and casual atmosphere.
Genuinely good quality fish, sourced from Japan and other regions based on the seasons. Their pricing is incredibly generous, especially during these tough times. The two owners provide incredible hospitality and family vibes. Many regulars come just for a casual dine and enjoy libations. Their specials changes based on the quality and seasons of the fish, so don't be afraid to ask the chefs like Juro and Yuichi. Their miruga, shima aji,i and black code sushi was in season, which was chefs kiss! On lunch time and happy hour, amazing bang for your buck meals as well. read more

Had an amazing experience while seated at the bar! We got a variety of food items and everything was so fresh and delicious! The pizza pie was so yummy, the crispy rice was perfect and had the right amount of tuna topping! The miso cod was soooo yummy, will definitely be getting this again! We tried three different nigiris and the salmon was my favorite, it was so fresh and soooo buttery! The quality of the fresh fish here is amazing! Definitely recommend this spot. The service was amazing, we felt very well taken care of. read more

Came back yesterday after quite some time and was as good as ever. Had another go with the shiso leaf special and as I recalled, still to die for! Also got some new sake on the menu and coupled perfectly! Great to see Jimmy and Long again! read more

This is truly traditional Japanese food, with actual Japanese sushi chefs. They care deeply about the selection and freshness of their fish, and it comes through in their meals. Great, chilled atmosphere, and service. read more
PLENTY of reviews for this place on Yelp, and even though I'm a HB local, this is my FIRST TIME! I wanted nice ambiance, with QUALITY sushi and sashimi to celebrate my son's birthday. Not too much to ask for, right? Well, Hashigo came through for us! ... Yay!! Presentation of every item we ordered was on point and the quality of everything we ordered was above par. Favorites were the Freshwater Eel and Scallop sushi for freshness and quality. The Monkfish liver presentation was gorgeous and the quantity is more generous than other restaurants for the great current price of $18. The Ama Ebi came in at $18 per unit, but well worth the size and quality. The oysters were delicious and 4 pieces for $15.95, we should have taken another round. Personally prefer nigiris, but we did try the Citrus Salmon roll which had the perfect amount of rice (not too much), delicious and refreshing for $16.95. One of the BEST Salmon Skin Salads I've EVER had which complimented all the nigiri sushi we were ordering. Super fresh and crunchy! I did my Yelp homework and knew that the Scallop Uni sashimi with fried Shiso leaf would be our finale bite and it did not disappoint. I don't think I've ever paid $20... for one bite, but hey... #YOLO. We ordered two desserts and they comped us a large scoop of green tea ice cream for my son's birthday celebration. The tempura fried ice cream dessert with black sesame (my favorite) ice cream was incredible and the Banana Spring Roll with Red Bean ice cream "must have been" equally delicious... as it disappeared in just a few minutes! We sat inside at Terminal 3, Table T6 and our clerk was #5. Nice, but just a bit inexperienced. Another waitress (with dark black glasses) offered us some fresh wasabi and something she called "pickled" wasabi when we were 3/4 the way finished with our dinner, which would have been amazing if we had it from the get-go! read more
Service was good. Everyone was all smiles for my first time. I think I've been spoiled by other sushi shops because I expected more from the soft shell crab roll. The salmon sushi was buttery and melted. The company I was with enjoyed their meal. I do have to agree with one of the posters that the rolls were dull and lacked flavor depth. I have visited Hashigo for lunch with friends on several occasions. We always try to arrive when the poke special lunch bowl is available. This is a fantastic bowl if you enjoy fresh poke, gyoza and sunomomo.... Not trying to make this harder on my future visits, but this lunch bowl is amazing . They sellout daily, arrive early. read more

Wow!! What a hidden little gem! This place is truly incredible. The service is one of the best we have ever had. Everyone was super friendly and we even got some good recommendations on what to order. It's been cold in HB and the inside of the restaurant was small, but they have a little patio with heaters. Which was perfect! Sometimes preferred when you have a toddler who can be loud. lol We ordered the Spicy Tuna Crunchy Roll, the Dragon Roll and the Volcano Roll along with some Miso soup. They made a mistake and brought out a baked Salmon roll instead of the Spicy Tuna roll. We corrected them but they let us keep it anyway and brought out the roll we ordered after. We must say, the baked Salmon roll was delicious. But our favorite was definitely the Volcano roll. We honestly can't wait to go back! read more

Our fav sushi spot for date night or family night! Parking is easy, staff is friendly and prompt, and sushi is made to perfection! This place is clean and runs like a well oiled machine. It's great for all kinds of parties really but seating inside is on the smaller side. My toddler loved his bento box and they of course made him fun beginner chopsticks. I love a baked salmon roll, miso soup, and garlic edamame. Hashigo never disappoints. read more

Probably the freshest sushi I have ever had!! Literally watched it come straight off the whole fish. Being a yellowtail fanatic I had to try some and this place definitely has the best around. The Hashigo sushi sampler was paired with delicious unique sauces that really enhanced the natural flavors of each fish. I like that they give you a small portion of edamame once you sit. I do wish they had more variety of rolls with photos but they did have a good amount to choose from and I'm sure if you had a particular roll in mind they could create it for you. Sitting at the sushi bar the service was quick and our sushi chef was very nice (: The whole places is a nice fresh clean vibe tucked away, truly a hidden gem! read more

I don't want to share this gem with you guys but as an aspiring yelper, I feel the need to. Their fish is ALWAYS fresh. Their cod is seared so it gives that smoked taste. My favorite is scallion otoro. Delicious indeed. Price is not super high end, but not cheap. It's sushi but quality over quantity. Parking is in a good shopping center. My fav sushi spot! read more

I stopped here on a Wednesday afternoon and ordered take out. I got the poke bowl lunch ($15) which included a salad and two potstickers. The sauce for the salad was delicious. The sushi rice was also good. There were also bits of avocado mixed in. The variety of fish was good. However, some of the fish was a bit fishy. Had a bit of a tummy ache after the meal. I would order something else next time. It seems like they put remaining fish parts / discards in the poke bowl. The restaurant itself is clean no spacious. They also have an outdoor patio. Friendly staff. read more

When it's available, we can offer it either way if you're sitting at the sushi bar. But only if we're not crazy busy. We don't always offer Omakase option. We can only accommodate when we're not too busy.

No it's not they just have umbrellas unless they use the patio of the restaraunt next door
