Had great food and great service at Apple Izakaya! Was the perfect food to have on a cold HB day. It had great ambience, being close enough to people watch but also away from all the street noise. As for the food itself, we had Spicy Miso Ramen, Curry Beef Udon, and a Teriyaki chicken bowl. We also had an order of the chicken heart skewer, one skewer had three hearts, not pictured cause we devoured it and also a cucumber salad. Not pictured cause we devoured it. I would def get the chicken hearts again, with the sauces, I don't think we would get the cucumber salad, it was too sweet for our tastes. The curry beef udon bowl is really good if you enjoy the taste of curry, it's a very savory type of bowl. The teriyaki chicken bowl was fine, a little dry, maybe ask for extra sauce on the side. The spicy miso ramen was really good, my fave entree of the three! Overall we had a great experience and would definitely come back. I want to try more of the skewers next time, I was recommended the pork belly and spicy chicken skin, which I'm excited to try!

Tried the new ramen spot Appe yesterday (11/16). Located by the old bomb burger at downtown main street. Really good ramen! 30% off yesterday only, to promote the new business. Good customer service and good music played inside. They gave us a complimentary appetizer -- fried edamame (no pic unfortunately). Give it a try! Reasonable prices for downtown, too. We got the tonkatsu ramen and the beef udon curry ramen!

So delicious we forgot to take pictures of the food! We ordered a lot of food and it was very affordable we got the curry udon beef, fried rice, spicy edamame, 3 chicken thighs(favorite!), filet mignon, prime beef, pork belly, and shrimp. The picture menu made it so easy to order. Get the mango green tea you won't regret it! The service is fantastic, the owners also own Mahkin on 3rd and Olive, best sushi you'll ever have.

I really like the curry because it was full of flavor in each bite was like really I could tell that the people that make it put a lot of work into it. I really recommend the takoyaki because it has a lot of flavor in this squid melt into your mouth. It was also a very crispy like La Style. My favorite was the Enoki bacon because the bacon was super crispy and the mushrooms were super tasty and flavorful. The cream Croquettes were very good and the service along with everything was super well-timed. It's really great to have a yucky Tori place right on Main Street that has some of the great Staples in meat and poultry.

The owners are very nice and accommodating! The ramen broth is amazing! Great flavor and feels hearty! Their Kiddos are also cute and helpful! HB lets keep them here!!!

Appe Izakaya in Downtown Huntington Beach right across the street from the Sugar Shack and next to the parking structure, is a total gem! The chicken teriyaki bowl was perfectly flavorful and satisfying, and the eel skewer and tongue skewer were absolute standouts -- tender, expertly grilled, and packed with authentic izakaya flavor. Great food, great vibes, and top-notch quality all around. Can't wait to go back! Also, try their strawberry lemonade, one of the best I've had anywhere!

Came to try Appe because we absolutely love Mahkin and the food was delicious. We tried the Tonkostu and Miso Ramen, which were both phenomenal. The cucumber salad, bacon wrapped enoki, takowasabi, and skewers were also great! If you like sweet teas, you will LOVE the iced mango green tea! Service is always wonderful at these restaurants. We'll be back.

The picture doesn't do justice on how delicious this ramen was. Best we've had in a long time, the service is amazing and it has such a lovely ambiance. Will definitely keep coming back.

New spot in HB! It's a Japanese Izayaka that offers small tapas plates, meat on skewers and hot ramen noodles. We got the calamari, prime beef, wagyu, pork belly, chicken and scallions, bacon wrapped enoki, miso and tonkatsu ramen. Meats were juicy and the ramen was flavorful with the right amount of umami. Service was nice & friendly. Highly recommend!!!

Appetizer staples are definitely the crispy rice (DONT FORGET TO CHECK FOR their magical tasty sauces like the SPICY MAYO EEL SAUCE) Our takeout is prepared well and I don't always check for utensils, so if needed, check, as I don't always get them but no biggie- The sauces though, can't forget the sauces. The hostess/waitress immediately sat us down at one of the booths and gave us a paper order sheet. There are definitely great deals for drinks as we noticed ads on the wall. We ordered ramen, cooked salmon collar, and miso soup. The restaurant wasn't that noisy and the waitress was nearby folding bags. We had asked for assistance because there wasn't any boxes for additional toppings for our ramen. She asked for spice level and went off to input our order. After a short time, our ramen arrived. We were surprised how quickly the ramen came out. My friend was curious about our other orders and we inquired with our waitress. By mistake, our waitress did not place the order for the other items. She apologized and inputted the rest of our orders. The ramen looked great! However, one of the disappointments was that the ramen broth was not spicy at all. The ramen itself and broth was a 3/5. While we did enjoy the food overall. Am I itching to come back? Not that much.

You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

But the flavors of the dishes eased my fear. It was delicious. I love salmon and uni when it comes to sushi and I would recommend others to try this place! Several people already saw my instagram post and asked the name of the restaurant! I'm very happy that the food turned out phenomenal! Toyko nacho (recommend) : it was messy to eat and had a kick of spice. I didn't mind the mess though. Lots of different flavors. Uni hotate yuzu: scallops topped with uni. Eating it was like butter. Sour flavor profile from the yuzu. A bit overpowering. And the maldon sea salt was interesting. So you get the texture of buttery soft from the scallop and uni and a crunch factor from the salt. 5pc Salmon nigiri: so fatty and buttery! If you love salmon then definitely get this. The presentation was so cute. It lays on a bed of ice. And throughout the dinner the pieces of salmon were chilled. Monster nigiri (recommend) : I don't think anything about this when my honey suggested order this. But once it got to the table and we ate it. Wow! This dish flavors stood out to me. The crispy sweet onions and sauce perfected the meal. Dragon: It was pretty tasty and decent. I know my honey liked it a lot. He prefers not to eat raw fish, so this was to his liking (I recommend to those who don't eat raw fish). Truffle essence (recommend) : The taste of truffle is weirdly addicting. The presentation was eye catching because the candle is keeping the truffle butter warm. The concept of dipping or pouring the truffle butter onto the roll was a fun way of eating. Snowflake roll: A lot of reviews mentioned this was a popular dish. I can see why it was popular. It's literally a bunch of fish in a roll! Haha, fish lover this would be perfect to order. Crunchy roll: It was a decent roll, but a bit dryer than I expected. Orders and ratings: Tokyo nacho 9/10. Uni hotate yuzu 10/10. 5pc Salmon nigiri 10/10. Monster 11/10. Dragon 8/10. Truffle essence 9/10. Snowflake roll 10/10. Crunchy roll 6/10. Thank you!

We loved our experience at the bar! Shout out to our server Leah! She's courteous, quick, & efficient! Honestly, everyone was on top of their game that night. Food & drinks: We went with the set of 6 hand rolls. We had the salmon, toro, yellowtail, spicy tuna, scallop, and crab hand rolls. Each hand roll was delicious and well prepared. My favorites were the salmon and scallop. We also ordered the Furikake Fries, Chili Garlic Edamame, and Cucumber Salad as appetizers. The fries were thin & crispy, the edamame was seasoned well, and the cucumber salad tasted as expected. Of course, I had to grab some drinks so I tried the Tokyo Tea and Toji Rita (I think .. honestly I forgot exactly what I ordered lol). But both were strong & fruity!
