My family has been coming here for a few years now, this place is normally busy, they do a awesome job at keeping it clean and friendly to everyone that comes in. the food is always fresh and taste great, their hostess and servers are always polite and friendly. I have yet to try the pho style of food but if you want really good sushi at a decent price please give this place a run. Anytime I think of sushi I come here. It's our to go restaurant.

Literally my favorite place for Shabu and sushi! The vibe is always great, and the staff is super friendly. I love how close it is to the beach, making it the perfect spot to relax. The food quality is always top-notch, and the service is exceptional every time I visit.

Decent Shabu restaurant by the beach, Shabu Shabu was 4/5. Service was decent 4/5. Ambiance was great, each of us got our own personalized hot pot 4.5/5.

We went to Shabu on Fire on a Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. The restaurant was fairly full, but still had a few tables, so we were in luck! We were greeted immediately by a friendly guy named Andy and escorted to the sushi bar right next to where they seat the kids/babies with strollers in the back right corner of the room. The menu is huge - so many great choices! We ordered the Black Dragon roll, some assorted sushi, calamari and an Asahi to share. The calamari is served with hot honey (wonderful) and a spicy mayo. It was lightly battered and came quickly to the table. It was great! The sushi is some of the best we have ever tasted. So fresh! The roll was great, too, but we did feel that the crab salad took up a bit too much of the inside. It was still good, though. They brought us free crab rangoon and free hot saki, which was amazing. These people are working hard to be welcoming and friendly. The owner also has Sushi on Fire right down the street, so she knows what she is doing. We did not try the shabu (hot pot) but intend to come back to taste a dish from that part of the menu. Pros: ~reasonably priced, ~friendly staff ~quick service ~freebies! ~great tasting food for the most part (go easier on the crab salad filling) Cons: ~the "baby" section is loud - don't put couples there who don't have children and would prefer a meal without screaming babies five feet away. Having this section is a GREAT idea (I wish more restaurants would corral young kids/babies into one area) but don't put singles/couples there, or at least give them the choice ~the view of the prep area from the sushi bar is not good - cluttered, dirty floors, filthy trash cans, etc. That area needs to be cleaned up. We saw a staff member spit into the trash can back there. ~at the corner of the bar, at the floor, is a very sharp looking metal tile which has peeled away from the footing and sticks out at ankle height - this is a hazard and could hurt someone We know this place is new and still working out the kinks. We really liked the food and will most definitely be back!

I have been coming here for a while. The food is always delicious. But my experience today was terrible. Bad customer service with my female server (The one wearing glasses). I did not enjoy my food at all today. You guys need to stay on point and pay attention to every customers at shabu bar. I was not treated with respect and feel very unwelcoming. Will not be coming back.

Good place to stop for some fresh sushi! Everything we ordered came out at a good pace and was quality through and through. Service and location were also great. It's definitely a nice place for groups. Can't wait to go back and try the Shabu! Thank you, gabi

I am pretty obsessed with Shabu on Fire. My husband and I used to live walking distance from Main Street, and we would eat dinner here probably every other week. Now that we've moved out of HB, I crave it so often that we will drive 30+ minutes just to eat here. We also really love Sushi on Fire, the neighboring sister restaurant. The best thing about Shabu on Fire is that you can order shabu as well as anything from the Sushi on Fire restaurant, and the wait is usually significantly shorter since people don't know about it! (Heads up - the wait can still be long, but it's almost always better than the one at the sushi spot). So we will usually get one or two sushi items to share as well as our own shabu pot. Some sushi favorites are the refreshing roll, scorpion, tuna sashimi, and the 3 companies roll. For shabu - I love the prime beef in the Mama's special broth. The service is consistently great, for an added plus! Pro tip - I recommend getting extra protein and/or your favorite veggie. With the amount of broth and noodles they provide, you can end up with enough soup to take home for lunch the next day for just a couple bucks more!

There's a small/medium parking lot. Finding an open spot can be difficult. Ambiance/Environment: They have a small/medium space with bar seating, table seating, and a few outdoor seating. As an early Gen Z/late millennial, I love the nostalgic music. The vibes are chill. It was busy when we came in during dinner on Saturday. Luckily we had dinner reservations. We waited about 15 min to get seated. Service: We wanted to sit at the bar for the experience. If you're planning on getting the sets of hand rolls, sitting at the bar will give you a casual, omakase-like experience. The chef presents the hand rolls to you one-by-one. We loved our experience at the bar! Shout out to our server Leah! She's courteous, quick, & efficient! Honestly, everyone was on top of their game that night. Food & drinks: We went with the set of 6 hand rolls. We had the salmon, toro, yellowtail, spicy tuna, scallop, and crab hand rolls. Each hand roll was delicious and well prepared. My favorites were the salmon and scallop. We also ordered the Furikake Fries, Chili Garlic Edamame, and Cucumber Salad as appetizers. The fries were thin & crispy, the edamame was seasoned well, and the cucumber salad tasted as expected. Of course, I had to grab some drinks so I tried the Tokyo Tea and Toji Rita (I think .. honestly I forgot exactly what I ordered lol). But both were strong & fruity! I only tried the drinks with tequila. Since it was my aunt's birthday, they surprised her with a matcha cheesecake. Sooo good; not overly sweet and the matcha was subtle! Pricing: This isn't one of those places where you get overly full. Their portions are just enough to satisfy you. We're sad this location is closing, but will forsure visit their other locations.

They do this near the end of the month on Mondays. Unfortunately, this is their 3rd to last event as they're going to be doing some restructuring. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Drinks were flowing and the sashimi was non-stop. Nigiri and handrolls were also delicious and I ate until I was close to puking. It was super cool to be able to cut into the fresh fish from Mexico. It's definitely tougher than it looks. I always thought it would be easy to cut like butter, but definitely takes a lot of strength and skill. There were other tasty tuna dishes like the miso soup, salad and crispy tuna steak. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can see Chef Yamasaki cut the fish in the front row seats. It was cool to taste the varying levels of fatness of the fish. The super chutoro was practically butter. They also offered tuna to go at $50/lb. Definitely worth it. The venue is their regular restaurant but with more tables in the middle. A little loud but definitely a fun time. There were 3 birthdays too! We had ice cream mochi for dessert and there were strawberry cakes for the birthday girls. We averaged about $170 after tip and it was worth every penny.

The entire meal lasted 2.5 hours, and that was only because we ended it early and asked for the check. We ordered the Omakase Yamasaki for $69, and everything we received was amazing. The salad to start was great, and the fish was prepared perfectly. However, the pacing really took away from the experience. I'm not sure if they were understaffed, but the service was so slow that by the end we were exhausted and didn't even want to finish the meal. We also mentioned that my friend has a shellfish allergy, but a crab hand roll was still brought out. While it was very delicious, my friend couldn't eat it, and we chose to leave without a replacement because it would have taken another 20 minutes. The food was memorable, but the service and timing need improvement for the experience to match the quality of the food.

I have never met a server, a bartender, a cook that didnt go the extra mile for us! The owner herself is no different! They all are so fabulous! A family member was finally back in town and we decided to meet at Matsu. While Amy was off, we were treated just as fabulously by Paul and team. Gabriel at the bar made excellent cocktails! Everything from our fresh nigiri to our teppan combo was delicious and fresh and nicely sized portions. I can go on and on, but if you want a darker, cool chill vibe, do the bar area.
