I rated them three stars because the lady that took our order told me she would bring our food outside once it was ready. We were busy talking and then I realized it had been 30min! I went inside to ask and she had it on the counter packed for to-go. I was annoyed that she didn't think to call me or actually come outside where we were sitting. I always order to go because my kid doesn't like fish, but I've never been disappointed by the rolls. This is a small unassuming sushi spot which caught our attention with their sign advertising their $12.75 bento box which listed 1/2 a rainbow role, ribeye teriyaki chicken, salmon nigiri, chicken Katanga, miso soup, salad, steamed vegetables, and seaweed salad. We found out it was the starting price but ordered it anyways because it was only $18. We couldn't believe the amount of food it was and everything came out fresh, hot and absolutely delicious! So good! I don't know why we didn't come here sooner after being so sad about the Los Alamitos Sango closing. Ordered what we would always order at that location and it was great! I love Sango Sushi! The food is always so fresh and plentiful! I get both cooked food- katsu, tempura- and sushi. Sango has a ton of food options including a variety of interesting tasty special rolls as well as classic rolls. I tried the Aloha roll and Los Alamitos roll- both were delicious and very filling! The katsu is so delicious and crispy! It's my favorite that I always get. The staff are incredibly nice and accommodating. And of course, the prices are amazingly good- best value around! The only thing is that it is far from us- there used to be a much closer Los Alamitos location, but they closed down. It takes about 25-30 min drive to HB, but worth it! The lunch special is cheap at 10.25 for teriyaki chicken bowl, soft drink, and choice of side dish. We got the California roll for the side (4 pieces). The chicken was overcooked and dry, they gave quite a bit of rice in the bowl, and the sushi rolls had a stronger seaweed taste than what I am used to. We shared the bowl with a super crunchy roll too, it ended up being enough for 2 people. I definitely plan on coming back to try other things on the menu. read more

The cheerful cashier recommended a few rolls and boy am I glad I listened to her. We started off with the Kayla roll. So good, so filling. Then we moved onto my friend's favorite roll: the Baked Salmon roll. It was great. Honestly we could've stopped right there, but we had two more rolls to go. The Sunkist roll was super refreshing and then we finished off with their new Aloha roll that has a homemade pineapple sauce and onion. It was soooo gooood. We were eating on the run, so I got the Tempura Appetizer (tempura shrimp & assorted vegetables) and the Combo B (Cal roll: tuna, salmon, shrimp, white fish, albacore, squid, yellowtail and egg) for us to share in the car.
