Subbing almond or soy milk is free! Fantastic! Free wi-fi, plenty of tables and chairs, a couple comfy chairs, too. Great music, staff is fairly nice, tons of breads and brownies -- some gluten free, some regular. My only complaint is that I wish they had those gluten free breakfast burritos. They only had flour tortilla ones and maybe 4 or 5 different kinds of breggos but I can't have any of that stuff. That's ok, it's worth it for many other reasons. If Red Rocks wasn't so far away from me, this would be my choice coffeehouse in all of Boulder. read more

This is a great local coffeehouse for sitting or grab and go. The service is friendly (mostly) and the coffee is decent. I do wish some of the baristas were better educated about the coffee they're serving but that's a minor complaint. The manager (I'm guessing--he's literally always there) is awesome to me and my son. They make my 3-year-old this amazing cup of whipped cream and sprinkles that has him disappointed by every other coffee shop here in Boulder that doesn't provide the same level of preschooler catering. The food is meh. The pastries are okay, we do always grab a chocolate or pumpkin bread (again, toddler request). It's a nice cozy place to sit for a little while with ample indoor and outdoor seating. Apparently not a great place to go if you want free electricity to work an 8-hour shift on your laptop? I don't know, not a need I have to have filled, I'm just here for the coffee. read more

Free wireless, four electrical outlets at table, free dairy substitutes, hushed environment. What isn't there to love at Red Rocks? And they have a spicy chai option that delivers. I'm not a coffee drinker, so chai is my go to beverage. It's a great work environment with everybody focused on their glowing screens. My spicy chai with almond milk rocks. I usually went to Vic's nearby until I finally realized that Red Rocks opened up, which is not just closer to my house but the crowd is less pretentious and more pleasant as well than the folks at Vic's can be at times. Red Rocks is always clean and the staff even brings the drinks to your table. It is a pleasant atmosphere and you will most likely not find a cleaner coffeeshop anywhere, starting at the front door and going back to the bathrooms. The buffet with the condiments is also well equipped with everything you need. Parking is also very easy and there are always plenty of spots available. Update 04/21/2017: They have updated their food selection, and now you can get some very nice burrito's and other small snacks, vegetarian or not. read more

This is such a cute and friendly coffeeshop! I'm so glad they don't have outlets. It feels like a warm and social place. People still work on their laptops (I guess that's what batteries are for?) but people are also talking to one another. It's definitely not empty either! They have happy leaf kombucha, which I've only seen at the farmer's market, so that's really exciting, and the iced Boulder Green Tea I got is delicious! Love it. They have an outstanding mocha (I got a large, which normally comes with 6 pumps, but I cut it down to 3). Their iced dirty chai is also amazing. In the 3 days I was there visiting Boulder, I think my friend and I went to Red Rock 5-6 times. Also, their service is incredible. Very willing to answer questions, offer suggestions, etc., always with a smile. So great to get that vibe. read more

Very friendly employees and store manager, great service (The occasional prank aside - we've gotten to know them a little too well!) and really good coffee and chai. It's one of the only places in Boulder where you can get sanctuary chai concentrate which tastes great when made at home with milk. I enjoy dropping in for a little caffeine and relaxation. The ambiance is great, very chill, with a nice mix of regular tables and over-sized lounge chairs. I ordered a decaf iced coffee yesterday afternoon and checked twice with the server to confirm that it was decaf - both when I ordered it and when he delivered it to me. After I finished drinking it my heart started racing, I became nauseous, and I developed sudden diarrhea --- I cannot drink caffeine, these are the symptoms I experience when I do. I had a class last night that I had to cancel because of these symptoms, I did not sleep well at all last night, I had to fight to stay away in my 7am meeting and just finished cancelling all of my afternoon meetings because I am too tired to go to them and my heart is still racing from the caffeine, 24 hours later. When I called the manager late yesterday afternoon to let him know about this he said the employee must have mixed up the labels and given me the coffee from the wrong container.... he did not offer to compensate me in any way for the 24 hours of awful physical/mental symptoms that I've been enduring thanks to their negligence. I'm EXTREMELY dissatisfied with their ability to take care of their customers - thanks to their mistake my own business is suffering today, and I feel terrible. read more

The best coffee I've found in Boulder so far, and I've tried plenty. I love the atmosphere here, always a good place to study. Giant fan of how they don't charge extra for soy milk. I'm lactose intolerance so it's nice not to have that .60-.90 cents extra add up. It is a bit of a drive from where I live, but definitely worth it! read more

As a grad student, I don't hang out at a coffee shop unless I can get work done; I'm happy to buy more than one drink / item to pay that rent if I stay a while. I drink lattes daily. I make them at home, go to Starbucks, & other local coffee shops. I just had THE BEST LATTE I have had in years. Came into Red Rock Coffee house to get some work done. Great service. Great coffee. Very friendly environment. One of my two favorite coffeehouses in Boulder.

On the positive side, the coffee is nice. Not the best in Boulder but good. But because there is really great coffee in Boulder, it makes it hard to come here when the service is less than hospitable. Every single time I've come to this place, not once has the staff said either hello, good morning, or how is your day going. And, when I say hello or how is your day going, I am responded with a blank stare or a "fine" without a reciprocal comment. It's not just one person, it's all of the people that work there. In an industry where there are order takers and there is hospitality, go someplace that has better coffee and better service. read more

First, I should admit that I have pretty significant criteria for a coffee shop to get 4 or 5 stars. This is a nice little oasis in the Safeway shopping center. And, there's not a lot in this part of town. In fact, I'm sitting in the shop right now and using the free wifi and my coffee is hot and strong and delicious and lots of people seem to be regulars and are greeting each other companionably, so really it is fine. All that said, I don't think I'll be coming back. You see, I'm really looking for a place to get some work done and it's just a bit of a funny layout for sitting and working. (Apparently, I need a little more focus to get work done, anyway, but that's my issue, not the coffee shop's). Also, I really like a place that at least gives you a refill on the house coffee and they do not support that. I say, come check it out for yourself. As a Naropa grad student, this place definitely works for when Paramita isn't an option. The atmosphere is very calm and conducive to studying, and they have plenty of power outlets and free Wi-Fi, to boot. I only wish that they were open during more extended hours, but 6 to 6 seems to be the standard for Boulder coffee shops? Anyway, menu is a little small but everything I've tried so far has been great, so it kinda balances out. read more

The posts about plentiful outlets are incorrect. There are actually NO outlets, making it impossible to stay for even an hour if you arrive with a minimally charged laptop. I got stuck in this situation and had to cut off of a call early (and I had only been sitting for 20 minutes). It's terribly inconvenient. I unfortunately won't be coming back here again! read more
