They also have kombucha on tap, fresh-made breads, breakfast burritos and more. The ambiance is laid back with comfy couches and chairs plus some outdoor tables for when the weather is nice. The NICEST people work here, the coffee is delicious and they have 4 gluten free morning bread options! I ordered a dirty chai with oat milk (alt milk available TY!) and a gf banana bread with a cinnamon constellation of goodness through its center. They recommend some local shopping to me too which was much appreciated as I am in town visiting and asked. (The lady barista is extremely stylish so I know to trust her options of opinions there.) I am in town for a week and excited to check these spots out. Will definitely be back here. Great classic rock music too, just like I grew up listening to on vinyls with my parents. I've been going here for years and they make the best coffee drinks. They also have an array of freshly baked, homemade flavored breads, including gluten free options (I'm not gluten free but when it tastes just as good, why not). A sign of a good establishment is staff turnover - here you will see the same folks week after week, month after month. Very friendly people. A word about all the people whining about no outlets: show up with a charged device and you have what, 5 hours of time to hog a table meant for four and spend your $4? That's not good enough for you? It's a small space, if people were camped out all day like other coffee shops, there would be zero space available for actual customers who like to come in, make a purchase, and sit for 30-60 minutes. I am a graphic designer and I frequent most of the coffee shops in the area. I like to switch up where I meet my clients. But I am not a fan of this place at all. Their coffee was OK but the vibe was meh. The last time I was there the barista on duty told me they purposely blocked the power outlets so people would leave instead of working on their laptops. I'll try again in a weekday, but this Sunday morning, 11am was weird. The place was 1/3rd full but eerily quiet. I waited at the counter for about 3 min for someone to finally come over. She said hi. One word, that's it. Never spoke to me again, not one word. The only time someone else spoke to me was 10 min later upon collecting my Mocha. So the customer service was just lousy. The location is good. Plenty of parking, and the entire front is shaded as it faces North. Plenty of nearby grass for doggies to do their business. No water bowl for the doggies outside though. The coffee was served in a paper cup. I was never asked if it was to-go or dine-in. The coffee itself was comfort coffee. Smooth, but bland, lacking any kind of body. Could not taste any chocolate at all. Was too sweet. This is what many coffee shops drinks are becoming. Sweet, warm wet stuff. The WiFi is excellent. It's the best I have encountered so far in a Boulder coffee shop. I am now reviewing WiFi on all my reviews as its now an essential element in dining establishments. See the attached screenshot. 3 stars due to the miserable customer service and bland coffee, but there's a lot of potential here. This part of town needs a good coffee shop, so I hope they up their game and stick around. Overall, real quality coffee experience, but not without its ups and downs. At my first visit, I requested the cashier's recommendation for the most popular item ordered and his answer was the Colorado spice latte. It seemed promising enough. Unfortunately, the concoction proved to be uncomfortably saccharine. The drink resembled close to a cinnamon chai flavor maybe? Almost pumpkin inspired. Not something I'd personally order regularly, but I can see the amateur coffee goer definitely digging it. You'd think with that, I'd call it one and done and cross red rocks off my coffee shop list. But I surprisingly keep returning despite its bad first impression. My general review of the establishment itself is comfortable. The seating options are ideal for setting up camp for a long day of work. They have these extremely ergonomic booths that my back craves when I have to crack down for a couple hours. The space is roomy and there are AMPLE electric outlets. It's a college student's study dream. But the only caveat is that every time I've come here, some really strange distraction pops up every time. My 2nd visit, a couple of women seemed to be quite audibly religiously chanting in the corner for reasons beyond me. A later visit featured some man wearing a bro tank and flip flops (ew) flouncing into the coffeehouse full of quiet and hardworking customers, demanding free water and making a huge scene as he exited with said water badmouthing the business. I guess these experiences should really be attributed to the unique personalities familiar to Boulder, CO and not red rock's problem because the staff is very polite there, but it does make me wonder what's going to happen at my next visit... Anyway, overlooking that, there is still saving grace in red rock's coffee as their vanilla latte does not disappoint. I try to order a vanilla latte everywhere to standardize my coffee shop experiences for the best comparison and I can attest to red rock's vanilla latte to being several steps above Starbucks and other popular coffee stops. Nothing especially mind blowing, but homey nonetheless. Warm and on the sweeter side with an interesting after taste that I'm not complaining about. read more

Another patron commented to me as I searched around the space - "I can tell you're an outlet seeker, you won't find any here." For example: you drop off your car and then call a Uber to take to you to a nearest coffee shop and sit down and while your car is being repair. After reading all of the glowing reviews others have left for this coffee shop, i am left utterly confused. Did I walk into the same place everyone else did? My experience with Red Rock this morning was my first and, regrettably, my last. I walked in to purchase a medium cup of drip coffee on my way to work - fast and simple. The woman who rang up my order was very nice and the gentleman who poured my coffee was kind enough to ask if i wanted room for cream. However, when he produced my cup and set it on the counter he ended up knocking over the cup somehow. This caused the cup to fall on it's side, spilling hot coffee on my bag and thighs. The course of events after is the reason for this negative review. I picked up the spilled cup and finished signing my credit card receipt. I was given a dirty wet towel (i was expected to wipe the counter down myself, i suppose) and had to ask for some paper towel to wipe both myself and my bag down. The woman who rang up my order apologized meekly - the gentleman who spilled the coffee said nothing. I was also not offered a replacement cup - or even a top off to recover the coffee that was spilled. Confused and embarrassed, I just grabbed my cup of coffee and left. i didn't even bother adding the milk to my coffee. The coffee was bland and I now reek of coffee at my office. I understand that other Yelpers enjoy this coffee shop because it lacks the pretentiousness that other 'boutique' cafes in boulder have (and is spacious) but at least those cafes understand the importance of good customer service. This isn't the first time a barista in Boulder has spilled coffee on me accidentally. This is, however, the first time a barista has spilled coffee on me and neglected to replace it or even help me clean it up. I worked as a barista for 4 years in college and know this is standard protocol. I wish my experience today was different, but there you go. No Red Rock for me - and I will also let my friends know about my experience today. read more

Based on the extremely positive reviews, perhaps my expectations were a bit high. Despite being located at the far corner of a strip mall, the inside space here is pretty good. The service was friendly and fast. The prices were reasonable. I just wasn't that impressed with my the coffee itself on this visit. I would not go so far as to say it was bad, but it did seem rather flat. It lacked depth and complexity. I found out they were using Novo Coffee beans. I was somewhat surprised, as I have very much enjoyed the coffee beans from Novo every time I have tried them in the past. Red Rocks Coffeehouse is the most comfy place to get coffee / tea / etc. and hang out with friends, meet new and friendly people (customers and employees), or to get some work done alone or have a business meeting. There's a intimate seating area near the front with a selection of magazines and various Colorado-related books... hiking trails, pictures, etc. Sometimes, other patrons will "donate" their newspapers as well. It's fun to sit here and have discussions with new and interesting people, along with people you know. I've made several friends here. Guy, the owner, has a dry sense of humor. Once he knows you, look out, you're in for a joke here and there. He works way to much, but this shows how important the shop is to him. His staff doesn't change, which says a lot as well. The baristas will often bring your drink to you. If it's really busy, they'll shout out your name (makes it feel cozy), or your drink. Something else that is great... the bathrooms are CLEAN! Thank you for this... Also, if you have any ideas, Guy is more than willing to hear from you. :) If it's a good one, BAM!, suddenly you'll notice it's been implemented. As for their drinks... YUMMY! I've tried everything from a simple decaf drip, to chai, to decaf carmel / pumpkin / white choc latte, to tea... and they are all delicious. And, as others have mentioned... no extra charge for alternate milk choices. This is my cofeehouse of choice. Despite the fact I live in the neighborhood of Pekoe's, and not far from Vic's... I'd rather drive a bit farther to RR. Once I am employed again, I'll be a regular (again) on weekends! P.S. Sometimes there is a line... but that's a good thing! P.P.S. If you spend some time at Red Rock Coffeehouse, you will notice how you are well taken care of. Unfortunately, I am not a coffee drinker so I can't tell you if the coffee is exceptional or not. However, I do drink tea and the "Meditative Mind" tea is really good! At the time of writing this, I have been here for almost 4 hours (I work online) and have noticed how the staff comes out from behind the counter and checks up on you- to see if you need a refill or something else. This is exceptional! I have been in hundreds of coffee shops and have rarely ever seen staff come out from behind the counter to follow up. The ambiance here is very comfortable, cozy, and clean. Plus, you don't have blaring background sounds to distract you from your focus. You've got to come check out the Red Rocks! read more

I love this place! I was told that it's not crowded, but the two times I have been here, that has not been the case -- it's usually a full-house, but not elbow-to-elbow, obnoxiously crowded. I especially like the white chocolate chai (tell me that it's not a seasonal item!) and have come here to study with friends. Holy Coffee Nirvana! Red Rock Coffee House just opened in Dec. 2009 and I cannot believe that I have not been until now. The coffee is excellent quality, the teas are all organic and natural, they sell gluten and dairy free food products and they do not charge extra for soy milk! The manager is always there and is extremely friendly and the staff are all smiles. It has a bit of a Cold Stone Creamery feel to it, but there are comfortable chairs in the front of the building by the huge windows. Bonus, if you sit in the front there are great magazines and Boulder biking, hiking and activity books to read from. Any place that doesn't discriminate against lactose intolerance is worthy in my opinion (they don't charge extra for soy milk!) and more importantly, they only serve high quality products. I will definitely be giving up my allegiances to other coffee shops and putting my hard earned dollars in their cash register from now on! read more

Red Rock is a solid coffeehouse. If I could give them a 3.5 star rating, I would. Their drinks are good (I especially like the ice tea lemonades they have in the summer), their internet access is consistent, and they have lots of outlets. The coffee shop lacks only in atmosphere, which is pretty generic and "Starbucks-esque." That said, it is certainly the best option in the north-central Boulder area. read more

This place gets five stars for its convenient location, good coffee, and friendly service. I come here to work sometimes and always get stuff done when I do. The music isn't always to my tastes but that's easy to solve with a set of headphones and/or some good company. The place can be a little tricky to find if you're looking at the Safeway/Boulder Subs/Chase Bank side of the complex as it is actually around to the side with a collection of other small shops. I'm particularly fond of working here for three reasons: 1. infrastructure provides work essentials: free wi-fi and outlets are more numerous than in some other coffee shops I have tried to work at. 2. seating is ample (not usually TOO crowded) and includes a small reading area with more comfortable chairs if you're looking to relax. 3. unpretentious atmosphere. This place is total WYSiWYG unlike many of the coffee houses in Boulder. Come as you are, drink some coffee, do your thing. There's enough ambient sound to muffle low conversation but not so much that it distracts me. There is other good coffee in Boulder, and there are other good places to work. But if I was making lists of those two kinds of places, Red Rock Coffeehouse would be near the top of both lists. Come forth and enjoy! read more

I had always had a good experience here prior to this morning. Baristas are nice, coffee is good. This review is primarily a message to the owner about the whole removing-the-outlets thing, as I see others have also commented on. Look, we get it. One of the biggest problems coffee shops face is when those handful ruin it for the rest of us by sitting all day and only purchasing one drink. There's a myriad of ways to handle this and I have to say that removing the outlets is the worst, most passive aggressive way to handle it that I've encountered. I went in there this morning before work and planned on hanging for 15 minutes or so. When I opened my laptop it was dead. Since I couldn't plug it in, I left and went somewhere else. And I won't be back...I guess not until I hear that the owner has decided to appreciate the customers, (the only reason he has a coffee shop in the first place) enough to find a better way to approach the issue. Do you really think you're making more money now? Is this tactic working? There's a time limit you can put on the wifi so that it reminds customers in a kind way to purchase another beverage to stay (Whole Food's approach). There's messaging that can be done, also in a kind way, to explain to your customers why it is a problem for them to sit there taking space from other paying customers. Or--novel thought, kindly approach people if they are taking advantage of your shop and I don't know...talk to them? I mean removing the outlets? You should really be ashamed. With SO many excellent coffee shops to choose from in Boulder (Ozo, Alpine Modern, Spruce Confections, Amante, any of the Goats, the Cup, Boxcar, just to name a few), go somewhere the coffee is great AND somewhere where the owner doesn't passively aggressively attack the supporters of his business. This is my favorite coffee house in Boulder! The coffee is so great especially their two exceptional varieties of Chi. They have unique varieties of green tea that you won't see in other coffee houses. As for the place itself, it is well decorated with beautiful pictures on the walls and comfortable chairs and tables. The atmosphere is cozy and feels airy because of the HVAC system and the high ceiling. The restrooms are very clean and well designed. This place looks pretty luxurious. The music isn't blaring. The free WiFi is another reason that makes this place so good. Unlike many coffee houses, there are plenty of wall outlets to plug your laptop into. The owner and staff are friendly, and they take care of their customers. It is not often crowded like other coffee houses in Boulder, and you can easily find a table. There is a huge parking lot (when it comes to Boulder :D ) so no parking worries here. The only thing I don't like about these guys is that they close at 8:00PM every night which I think it's too early! I wish they would extend their hours.
