The drinks, treats and baristas here are fantastic! Earlier this year they changed up their coffee beans to a local roaster (Ozo) which I prefer over their old brew. My fave drinks to order here are an Americano, their various unsweetened iced tea and their matcha lattes. My fave barista is Everlyen. She is so kind, makes a mean drink and I always feel better leaving then when I came in (I often go as a pick me up during or before work). Their parking lot is large and I find that I can easily find a table to read or work. On weekends they often feature live jazz music. If you enjoy that grab a brew, a chair and enjoy. The reason I gave them 4 stars is that the WiFi is not consistent. read more

Been in a few times and the baristas have always been nice. I have gone there twice to do homework and found it nearly impossible due to bad wifi so I have to leave within 20 minutes. I am rarely moved to leave a less than positive review on a business because I have worked in food/customer service for over 7 years, and I can almost always understand why an experience that I have may be less than ideal. Things happen and I completely understand, we all have off days. However, the customer service here was very cold and unexpected. I stopped by because my girlfriend was at an appointment nearby, and when I walked in, both of the baristas behind the counter looked at each other as if they were extremely annoyed that I was there. I was the only person in line and was waiting for one of them to acknowledge me for about 5 minutes, but I figured that maybe they had some other things to do behind the counter which is totally fine so I just stepped up to the register, where one of the baristas did not even greet me or ask for my order, so I felt super awkward while ordering as if I was being an inconvenience to them. Sometimes people are dealing with things that make it difficult to work a customer service job which is totally valid, but this just seemed like lazy and impersonal customer service. I used to really like Vic's years ago when they first opened this location. The coffee has always been good. Since I moved closer to Denver a number of years ago I hadn't been to Vic's for ages. Today when I walked in after not being here for a couple of years, I was surprised how badly maintained this store is. The vinyl tile flooring is filthy and stained with black dirt, probably 25% of the chairs have holes in them or have green tape on the seats covering the holes, the carpet needs badly replaced. It's obvious the owner is not putting any money back into this business. I don't know the circumstances, but it's sad for the patrons when the owner just doesn't appear to care anymore. I was actually shocked by how bad it looked. In by mind if the owner doesn't care about the appearance of the areas the customer does see, I can't trust what I can't see. How is food stored and handled, how well is equipment cleaned? So... I decided against purchasing anything and won't be back. I really like to support local, but it's not worth it for me in this case. read more

Very similar to a starbucks in concept and feel. It seems popular in Boulder as a place for people to frequent when they want to veer away from the mainstream-ness of starbucks, while still remaining pretty mainstream. My time here was okaaaay. I walked over here by myself after working out nearby. The location is kind of tucked into the shopping plaza with the wells fargo bank overshadowing it in prominence. So it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. The service here seemed cold and not personable unlike the enthusiastic baristas you've come to expect at coffee shops. When my drink was ready, it was like they barely whispered my order out (if they even called it out at all) because I certainly couldn't hear it and I chose a table to the side so my drink was not visible to me. So I waited a while before going to check on my drink, which I found waiting for me on the counter unattended for who knows how long. Also, they ran out of lids so I kindly asked if I could have one and the employee met me with a standoffish attitude. Overall, the human interaction here wasn't too stellar. But they had free wifi and the iced coffee wasn't too bad. I also liked how green and environmentally friendly they are with their utensils, containers, and materials. At the end of the day, a pretty generic 3 star experience if I'm not hoping to make friends with the staff or get my drink in a notified manner. read more

Vic you're kind of a DICK (or whoever you are Mike Hiliger?? You are rude and your breath matches your attitude! This was my second time in this sad excuse for a coffee shop. I grabbed a latte and noticed the stack of newspapers laying next to the bar I was planning on sitting at. I grabbed a paper and sat down and read a little bit. An older gentleman sitting maybe four chairs down from me stopped as I was returning the paper. He rudely stated next time I needed to pay to read them. Despite his rude nature I offered to pay. He said that wasn't necessary. He caught me offgaurd, asked me in a way that was like scolding me for not seeing the sign. The sign states, pay to read or something along those lines. Their isn't a price on it. It could be taken many different ways. Had I read the sign I might have thought if you buy a coffee or burrito you can read the newspapers. I also would suggest introducing yourself to me as the owner first (I had to ask if he was even employed here as we were talking). You came off like some old local Crust who was policing his favorite java spot, I guess that's what you are. You should really be strategic enough to put a price on the sign so this makes more sense. Maybe throw in "pay at counter to read these newspapers. Or MAYBE provide some newspapers for your patrons to enjoy for the cost of free. I even tipped the barista who helped me 3 times the amount I usually do. She by the way was the nicest of the barista's I have dealt with here. I'm not coming back and I hope this review sways people to stay away from here. Their are far better coffee places in Boulder. If the owner sucks I just can't get behind the place. And he's a jerk. Parking at this Vic's is, at it's best, Darwinian. Vic's patrons are vicious in their search for a parking spot. It's especially funny to see an Audi S4 with two $10,000 road bikes on the roof practically mow down children so they don't have to walk more than 10 feet to get into Vic's. This is the nicest part of my review. The coffee can't compete with the coffee at the Conoco station a block away at 28th and Iris. The nicest thing I can say about the staff is they display an level of arrogance rarely found outside of Paris. How can a coffee shop be out of baked goods by 9 in the morning? Every day? This place is crowded, unkempt, and has the ambience of a bus station. I'm not a fan of the Vic's on Broadway, much, either; for most of the same reasons. At least there, you can go into Moe's for a decent cup of coffee. Every time I agree to meet a friend here, I regret not being more assertive in choosing a different location. If you want to pay too much for over-brewed coffee and play bumper cars for parking amidst Sportmobiles parked sideways in the handicapped zone; this is the place for you. Otherwise it's not hard to find at least a few better places (no, not the Conoco) within a couple of blocks. read more

It is funny what happens to a coffee shop once they start offering free Wi-Fi... More people come to the store, but less people buy coffee. Well, that is the pattern I noticed for myself at least. I figure, well, there are so many people in here, they will barely notice if I slip in, meet with someone for a quick meeting and use the Internet via Wi-Fi. It is as if I wasn't even here. So how do they make money off of me? Most of the times when I do meet people at Vic's they buy a fancy beverage, and without me planning the meeting at Vic's Again, then though fancy drink may have never been purchased in the first place... I also think that I help by being a demographic and helping fill the place up so that the place looks like the hot place to be.... Something about all these excuses is making that ethics part of my brain start to ring very loudly.... There is really nothing special about this un-extraordinary strip mall coffee joint. The coffee is good, but it should be, coming from a coffee joint, right? Nothing stands out about the ambiance- it is pretty sterile. I like my coffee shops to be a little more homey. No music. Quaint, quiet, delightful. I have more experience with Vic's original locale, but just visited this cafe this afternoon. Being situated in a fairly forgotten part of the city, I didn't expect much, and was pleasantly surprised. I was hopeful that they would have rooibos tea, though doubted they would as it's not that common (and this is a coffee shop, and most coffee shops have a weak selection of teas). Not only did they have rooibos, but they had two varieties. Bravo. That earns it five stars. read more

Would I go here to meet friends over a steaming cup of chai? No. Would I go here to hole up in the corner and get some work or reading done? No. Would I go here to grab a latte after hitting the gym and before going to work...yes- because it is the closest place to do so. I like Vic's- probably because I am amused by the name ("Want to grab a cup of coffee? Sure, want to go to Vic's Again?") Creative to say the least. Anyway, I am here to review the coffee, not the name. I get one of two things, a mocha latte or a hazelnut latte. They are both really good, but I have had better. I think the one thing that is a bit disappointing is the fact that I have been there at least three times a week for the past month (yes, my latte cravings have been a bit overwhelming to say the least) and none of the staff, which are usually the same people, have taken notice of my regularity. I do not need them to know my name or my order, but a smile of recognition would be nice for the $50 I have dropped there this month. Sadly, I may have to get used to the office coffee and skip over this treat, but if I break down and want to spend the $3.50 for my latte, I will go to Vic's since there really isn't any other convenient, good spots on my way to the office. read more

I met a friend here for coffee this morning. It was good but nothing extraordinary. It seemed to lake ambience or character. It felt like it belonged in a strip mall. The staff was friendly enough and my skinny vanilla latte was made to order and in a timely fashion. There was plenty of seating and the place was hoping all morning. We were there from for 2 hrs from 8:30am to 10:30am and there never seemed to be a lull at all. They did have free wifi which I briefly connected to check it out. Seemed to work seamlessly with no requirement to login to any lame web portal before starting. Just connect and go. They had outside seating but it was too cold for that. Plenty of parking as it is in a strip mall. I noticed there were several 'regulars' who were greeted by name by the staff. They do have a 'frequent buyers' punch card so if you go often enough that might be worth it. One thing I was disappointed in was that there was no self-serve regular coffee. It was all behind the counter and you had to ask for more. I did - and it was free... so, no biggie really. But I like just being able to help myself. read more

I asked for a medium cappuccino to start my morning. Your lady employee was too tired to make it. Making mad faces while making coffee it is not fun to begin with. Pouring foamy milk all over the cup. Creating a dirty cup of coffee. It's not aesthetic. I asked her nicely to give me a Togo cup. She SLAMMED the cup into the counter top. I took my coffee to the second level of the coffee shop. Tried drinking my coffee. For some reason it didn't taste very good almost like somebody did not like making that cup of coffee & did not like working that particular morning. I talked to the owner. And I address the problem I told him exactly what happened he didn't even offer a new cup of coffee or moneyback. He just said yes I know she doesn't like working here. WELL it is not the customers problem. Paid $6 for my morning coffee ,plus $1 tip. I handed the employee back my coffee and left disappointed. I live by Vic's on 30th and go their once a week on average. They definitely know how to quickly handle a rush from what I have experienced. Most of the time I've had a good experience with their baristas as they have been nice and smile when I order (What a novel concept) Their coffee (allegro) is decent. The roast is usually too dark for me and I have to use cream to cut the bitter notes in the finish) The cafe is clean and I like the outside patio. So Vic's is stating it's $4 for an iced coffee. That it's more effort to brew coffee and put on ice. Starbucks is $2.55 for the same iced coffee. I have developed a daily coffee habit-it's affecting my pocket book, but the strong coffee Vic's brews puts such an added pep in my step that I am willing to take the monetary hit. Vic's is fast-I never worry about a line that curves from the counter to the door-I am out in five minutes. The staff is friendly and quirky-a good combination for a coffee shop. I have two staples-iced coffee in the summer, Cafe Florentine in the winter-the staff is quick to catch on to regulars and this makes my order even faster. The coffee is hot, and strong-no Folgers brew here! I love the buzzing atmosphere of the shop, the mix of business professionals, coffeeshop campers, the early morning exercise groups. It's a community, and I am glad to be an almost daily part of it! read more

There is no power outlets to plug your laptop into. The coffee was OK but a bit expensive! I've cut back on the coffee but stopped here for a quick business meeting and had to order a cappuccino when I saw the fancy smancy red Ranchillo. The barista was quick in making the 3 orders ahead of me and there were two others at the till taking orders (one line just for house coffee or tea). My wait time was really nothing, great when the wait at Big Name Chain Coffee Place feels forever. The cappuccino came in a cute mint green paper cup with the Vic's emblem, and tasted divine for a morning where I had to be in All Gears Go! mode. My visit was brief--20 to 30 minutes maybe--and I didn't have to use the WiFi, so I can't vouch for any of the comments I've heard/read about wifi use at Vic's. I hate to write a poor review, because the staff is friendly and kind. So let's be clear, my review is primarily, almost entirely based on the coffee, which literally tasted like liquid dishsoap. I tried this place 3 times, as I genuinely wanted to give it a chance, since it is a highly convenient location for me. However, each time was more disappointing than the first. The coffee is obscene, honestly, with a very strange soap taste. I have no complaints about the staff or about the shop itself, though I do not love the zany color choices, the atmosphere is more or less pleasant and friendly. The owner insisted he move his wheel over about three inches. I was sprayed (window cleaner) by one of his employees and was blamed by the owner for sitting where I was.
