We've been missing Japanese omurice and wagyu since we came back from Japan, so we decided to check out Red Rock. We waited for about 10-15 minutes before there was a table available. Once we ordered our meal, the food came really fast. I really liked the Angus Cut Steak Don. It was medium rare, tender, and flavorful. The omurice with hamburg steak and shrimp was ok. We were looking forward to cutting the fluffy omurice open, but it wasn't made that way here. The rice was wrapped with the omelet. The curry was strong and a little spicy. Overall, the steak and omurice was tasty, but it didn't blow me away.
Came by on a Friday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised that there was no line at all. I ordered the US Kobe Slice Beef Don in the regular size and added a Jidori raw egg on top. My friend got the Omu Curry & Rice with Cut Steak. Both dishes were delicious. One thing to note is that the regular size beef don is smaller than the large tower version pictured on the menu, which our server explained beforehand. The beef itself was served at room temperature, but the warm rice helped heat it up. At first I was a little surprised, but our waiter explained that the beef is roast beef and intentionally not cooked well done in order to maintain its tenderness. After trying it, it made sense because the beef was incredibly tender and flavorful. My friend also really enjoyed her curry and said it was packed with flavor. Overall, a solid lunch spot with friendly service and great food. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu. A small little spot, but so many dishes to try!
6/7/2026 3 Stars for food. 2 Stars taken off for rude customer service from the guy behind the counter! Not my first time at Red Rock, but first time at the Arcadia location. OMU-RICE HAMBURG STEAK As always, I chose the demi-glace sauce. Demi-glace was lacking in depth of flavor. It was good, but not excellent. Rice was done well with light ketchup flavor and not overcooked. There were bits of onion and red bell pepper in it as well. Egg was soft and fluffy. The hamburg steak was soft, like meatloaf. It was slightly underseasoned. ICED GREEN TEA Iced tea did not taste like green tea. It was very light in green tea flavor. Yes, probably from a tea bag, but still there's got to be some green tea flavor. It might have just been iced water. Got some samples of house hot sauce and pickled jalapeños. The hot sauce tasted like gochujang with soy sauce and maybe rice vinegar. It was not spicy. Underwhelming sauce. The jalapeños are spicy and they were sliced thin, which was better! You can order any of these sides by paying $1.50. SEATS This is a very small, corner restaurant. There were two bar seats on the side, about 10 tables and seats. LOCATION At the Santa Anita Mall. On the second floor, right across from Din Tai Fung. Come through Nordstrom's side and it will be easier to find. CUSTOMER SERVICE I was there on a Sunday and it was not busy. The server was kind and did his job well. But there was one Asian guy behind the counter who was just standing there. He was extremely rude from the moment I got there. He just kept on giving me weird and dirty looks. All I was doing was taking some photos of the outside of the restaurant and he just kept staring and giving me dirty looks. Went to the front to be seated for lunch and the server seated me. Server was very kind. Service was good and food came out at a reasonable time. But after I ate and paid, I took more pictures of the restaurant. The same guy who stood behind the counter, who was not doing anything but just standing there kept on looking with a scowl on his face. I just ate there. It's obvious I was a customer and he was rude still! Due to his poor customer service and extremely rude attitude, I will not be back at this location again!
Great little restaurant on the second floor food court of the Santa Anita Mall. Quick way to navigate to it is that it's right next to Din Tai Fung. Seating unfortunately is limited to like eight tables or so, but the menu more than makes up for it. Red Rock specializes in Japanese Don dishes. So if that's your jam, come at them bro! Prices are steep, but worth it in my opinion. They use quality meats that's direct-fired on a grill. Everything is made-to-order and it comes out quick! Ordered the following: - Omi-Rice/Hamburg Steak - 8.5/10: Hella good. Thick, tasty patty on top of skillfully crafted and silky scrambled eggs that blankets a large serving of rice...and all of it smothered with their original sauce. Sauce isn't too overpowering, so the dish is well-balanced. You will be full after this meal. This would be my go-to if I came back, but there's so many other stuff on the menu! Will definitely be coming back as a good time was had by all!
We were in the area so we had to go here again. Even my mom, who never likes new food, liked Red Rock and completely demolished her meal. No a single grain of rice was left after she was done. I was craving a katsu so I went with that this time. The tonkatsu was so crispy and the sauce kept the meal from being too dry. The husband got a bowl where they gave a generous amount of demiglace sauce, which was so rich. We keep wanting to try new places, but it's hard when you're in Arcadia and Red Rock is there to welcome you.
This place is awesome. It's tucked inside the Arcadia shopping mall in the food court. I got the tongue and it was very juicy and delicious. It was thick cut tongue, which makes it a slightly different experience than your usual thin sliced KBBQ tongue. The white rice was exceedingly soft and fluffy. I would come here again. The service was good and the ambience wasn't that loud. My girl got the curry and rice pork cutlet. Super good! Crispy pork served alongside a deep, rich brown curry. A surprisingly good dish here was the potato salad. Very creamy. It came with Miso. Not a bad lunch set.
Premium beef bowl spot that surprised me by how good it was. Located in the Santa Anita mall next to Din Tai Fung and Uncle Tetsu cheesecake. We went on a Saturday night and didn't have to wait long. Food/Drink- 5 stars US Kobe beef don- this was fantastic with the raw egg. This was so rich and flavorful. I loved how thin they cut the meat and how fatty it was. The horseradish sauce was so good as well. My only feedback is that I wish they had pickled ginger or some sort of pickled vegetables to balance how rich the meat was. I walked out of the meal feeling like I ate an entire A5 wagyu steak Hamburger steak- this was rich and flavorful as well. Same comments as above. We came here after we couldn't get off the waitlist to dtf lol But I'm so glad we did! The omurice hamburg was so good and filling! It was juicy and the demiglaze sauce was a perfect condiment!
Expensive for what it is, but definitely worth a try since you can't find this around the area. We missed the opportunity to try this in Japan. We got the Kobe Sliced Beef Don and Curry Rice with Hamburg Steak. Both are very flavorful and use high quality meat. The hamburg steak was very juicy and not too salty, which I love. For the price, we'd rather eat at a sit-down restaurant instead of a food stall. Despite the location, the service and ambiance were not bad.
My bf and I go to the Torrance location pretty often and was excited to see them open in his hometown. Food is just as good however, the pricing here is wild. The regular 5oz don is $25.99 and the large (10oz) is $41.99. My bf always orders the large at the Torrance location and it is $29.99. Granted I believe it's only 8oz for the large there, but that's a pretty steep increase! Seating is also real minimal, mostly just at the bar and it's awkward being served food from behind and sitting so close to other parties. m

People: they are very busy and have very limited seating available and don't let you save your place in line so you'll have to actually wait in line Vibes: it feels very similar to Japan restaurants as their culture is more of 'hurry and eat and leave' as the people waiting in line are staring and watching Overall, I would def come back and try other things in the menu as they do have a special menu and curry
There's a new Japanese steak bowl spot that recently opened next to Din Tai Fung, and while it's not bad by any means, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The bowl itself is clean, well-prepared, and made with quality ingredients. The steak is cooked nicely, and everything tastes fresh and relatively healthy--which I can definitely appreciate. That said, for the price point, I was expecting something more filling and flavor-forward. The overall profile felt a bit restrained. I kept waiting for that extra punch--whether from seasoning, sauce, or umami depth--but it never really arrived. It's the kind of dish that's pleasant and inoffensive, but also something I genuinely feel I could recreate at home without much trouble. Not a bad meal, just not memorable enough for me to return. If you're looking for something light and clean, it may be worth trying once--but personally, I was hoping for more.
Small restaurant on the top level of Santa Anita Mall near Nordstroms side, by Uncle Tetsu. Small eating area with bar top style seating. Not the most ideal eating setup, but efficient. Standout is their Sliced Kobe beef Don. The meat is thin and juicy. The sauce is flavorful. Highly recommend adding the egg on top (additional charge). This alone made everything worth it for coming here. It was quite pricey though but fair for the high quality and amazing dish. Their Omu-rice was okay, along with the hamburger steak. Pretty standard and a bit salty. Will be back for more of their steak bowls! Definitely consider a pass on their more economical dishes (hamburger steak/curry) as I feel their steak speciality is where it's at
I got the angus cut steak with basil rice pilaf and it was delicious! The steak was cooked perfectly medium and the sauce that went on top was just the right amount of flavor. The rice was cooked with basil and bacon and had so much umami. The dish also came with a side salad. We finished everything. I would come back to try their omurice next time. This restaurant is located at The Shops at Santa Anita across from Ding Tai Fung. It is causal and with good quality beef. read more
Been a LOONNNG morning. Just miraculously got my rig back to Los Angeles from Vegas, was about to spend upwards of 3 Grand getting a coolant hose fixed, but Jesus got me home! Amen. And now my home base mechanic can get to work on it. If you are hungry?! Skip Red Rock. Go to Costco, buy some Wagyu Ground Beef, some USDA Prime, and do it yourself at home with a Grid Iron Plate, maybe buy a torch gun, and get those Yakinuku sauces ready as you rub the marinade on and grill the exterior. But if you are Ok spending upwards of 40 Dineros on pretty good Japanese steak that won't really fill your American stomachs up, then go ahead. The quantities are for Japanese people, small, petite, 5'9 but you have a waist size of 30...for males. I got the US Kobe Harami Skirt, 6oz as recommended by the manager; don't get me wrong, it really good. But I just don't see the price justification to the portion size because I can think of a million ways to create your own and get more value out of the meal. So I want to take a moment here to thank Donald Trump for becoming the next Jimmy Carter. Inflation, Iran, Inflation, Yen Crash, Oil Price rise. Thank you DJT. I didn't get the opportunity to try this place when I was in Japan but definitely worth it coming here. Though we didn't have to wait long since we got here around 5pm on a Friday night but a line started forming halfway into our meal. This place should definitely have its own restaurant at least with more seatings. Seats here are like a bar style seating. At least the wait for the food to come out wasn't long. I ordered their regular size don with an extra egg on it. Ordered it medium well and though portioned nicely, I think next time I'll go for the large size. The meat was very tender and combined with the egg made it very good. Definitely one of the better places I've gone to. Is it worth the wait? I believe so. Service was good and food was good. The curry tasted good as well. Got to try their curry also. Definitely will come back to try their other dishes. read more

The food here was really good; you can really taste the quality for the price. I got the Kobe sliced beef don, and the white sauce was delicious. There was also a solid portion of meat. The seating setup reminded me of a sushi bar, and the ambiance was nice overall. Our server was so sweet and even pushed in our chairs for us, which I thought was a really thoughtful. sooo I did dock one star (honestly would rate this a 3.5) because I didn't notice at first, but the black bowl had quite a few fingerprints on it, which was a little concerning.....and did take away from the overall experience of enjoying the food read more
Came back to Red Rock Arcadia recently and was really impressed. The quality of the meat is excellent--super tender and flavorful. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly to medium or medium rare, just the way we like it. There was no wait, which was a pleasant surprise, and the service was great. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and everything came out quickly. It is a little on the pricey side, but the quality and experience make it feel worth it. Overall, a solid spot if you're craving good meat and great service. read more

I came here on a weekday night and there was plenty of tables available. There's limited seating, so I would be cautious if you're coming with a big party. The food is pretty pricey and delicious. Yum! The food here was really good, you can taste the quality and for the price I would say it's really worth it! The service was pretty good and the workers were all nice. I think the ambiance was pretty nice too it reminded me of a sushi bar but for meat dishes. The raw egg add on was a bit pricey and only worth it for one of the dishes we got. After an event in the local area, my friends and I headed over to the Shops at Santa Anita for dinner at Red Rock , a Japanese chain known for their roast beef don (rice bowl). This location is located inside the mall, down a corridor near the food court area. It has an intimate seating arrangement of approximately 14 bar seats. I wanted a more hearty dish, so I ordered their Omurice with Hamburg Steak & Demiglace sauce ($28.99). It's a bit pricey, but they make quality food. The Hamburg steak was juicy & hefty; the fried rice was wrapped by a cloak of fluffy egg and smothered with a lovely, deep, flavorful demiglace sauce. I also added on their potato and beef croquet (a flaky and delicately crispy panko crust outside which contains seasoned chunks of potato and beef). Both were exquisitely satisfying. read more

Ordered the Kobe American Sliced Beef Don & also Pork Cutlet w/rice togo. The worker did a good job of explaining how the kobe beef was going to be. He said we should expect room temp beef similar to roast beef so that was good on the workers to inform customers! Onto the food, the curry sauce had a great flavor, pork katsu was crispy and tender! I enjoyed it (4/5), sizing was just very small. The kobe beef don was underwhelming to be very honest. The salad portion consisted of a little too small of a size. It came with a savory garlic? sauce but nothing crazy delicious, it was just okay, not as much flavor as I hoped..(3/5) I was disappointed by the portions for the price. A 10g large Kobe Beef Don and Pork katsu came out to around $70 and it was not satiating for the price vs size ratio. They only have a little bit of seating since they only have a ledge that sits several people, which is why my group decided to get takeout, but when you do that, it doesn't come with any miso soup. Not sure if Id come back just because my whole experience was okay, hope they make some adjustments to the ratio of the food in the future! read more

However, the staff provides quick service and are super helpful with answering any questions. What my group ordered: 1. US - Kobe American Sliced Beef Don - We ordered the large (10 oz) since the reviews mentioned that the regular (5 oz) was too small. But sadly, we felt like the portion size for the large was still small. For the price you pay for, I would have appreciated a bigger portion. In terms of the meat, it is tender and melts in your mouth. And visually, it looks stunning, but the meat was stuck together so I had to eat each slice of meat by itself. If you do order this, I would highly recommend adding an egg (extra charge) to change up the flavor of the dish. 2. Curry rice with pork cutlet - Meat was tender, but wished the portions were bigger and for the curry sauce to be more flavorful as it seemed to be a little watery. read more
Red Rock, never had it, walked by it once, but glad to have tried it. The menu is very visually appealing, especially helpful for those who've never had this style of food. Like a beginner, I had to ask if this was raw meat and if I could order their US-Kobe American Sliced Beef Don medium rare. Looked like a fool? Check! The staff member tried to explain that this meat was room temperature, which had confused me more. (The staff member did not know how to explain the style of meat this was.) Eventually, I caved to adventure and ordered it as is with a raw egg. Whether a cardinal sin or not, I broke the raw egg as soon as it arrived and stirred it in. Thoughts? Interesting. The meat was clumpy yet tender, had a good texture, and was tasty. The rice was okay, though it gave me Yoshinoya vibes. The eating experience was as difficult as the explanation for the Beef Don. Eventually, I was able to untangle most of the beef and eat it slice by slice with the rice. I thought eating at the counter meant we could see the dish being made, but it didn't. The server's explanation (or knowledge) of dishes could've been improved, too. Overall, I could see myself trying Red Rock again, though probably their Torrance location, as that one seems to be better quality than this one. read more
Red Rock is located in the mall near the promenade area. It is on the side near Din Tai Fung. Seating is at the bar area and the service was nice. My wife ordered the Angus Cut Steak Don and added a Raw Jidori Egg. I ordered the large US-Kobe American Sliced Beef Don and also added on a Raw Jidori Egg. The items on the Signature Don menu, which is what we ordered, came with miso soup. The miso soup was pretty standard but it was nice to have some hot soup while waiting for the entree to arrive. My wife thought the Angus Cut Steak Don was just OK. Given it was an Angus Cut, the meat had some fattiness too it, so if you like that kind of texture, then this may be the dish for you. The US-Kobe American Sliced Beef Don was good. The meat was thin and flavorful when mixed with the egg and white sauce. Both dishes are served over rice. Overall, the meal was a bit pricey for what it is. I was still hungry after eating the large portion. If you haven't had this type of dish before, I think it's worth to try it once. We do plan on returning to try their other dishes on their menu. read more
Stopped here for dinner on a whim while at the mall because I kept seeing it and was intrigued. There's only counter seating that fits maybe 10 people or so. I got the first item on the menu which was the 5oz portion of the US Kobe American Sliced Beef Don and I added a raw egg yolk to it. It's room temp steak piled over rice and served with some greens and a creamy sauce (I think it might be a very mild horseradish mayo). It also came with miso soup on the side. The meat was so soft, juicy, and flavorful, and the egg was a great addition that added another dimension of flavor to the dish. My husband got the 6oz portion of the US Kobe Kalbi Yakiniku in which the meat was served hot over rice with some greens and kimchi. He got it with the BBQ sauce and really enjoyed it with its lightly sweet and grilled flavor. It also came with miso soup. We also got a croquette on the side to share. Honestly, we had enough food from the two bowls we got that we didn't need to order this. It was coated in panko and fried, and filled with a beef, potato, and onion mixture, and comes to the table piping hot. There were decently size beef chunks in it, but the predominant flavor was sweet onion. It was good, though. The food came out very quickly and our server was helpful to us when we were deciding what to order. Everything was very good and extremely filling, but pricey. After tip, our grand total came out to $80, which is hard to justify for a "casual" mall meal. Regardless, I'd still recommend it if it's in your budget and you're craving a hearty meal. read more

Red Rock in Arcadia is located inside a mall, and the ambiance feels like it - it's casual and gets the job done, but nothing special atmosphere-wise. Portions are generous, and the regular size is more than enough. We tried the sliced beef don, cut steak don, kalbi yakiniku don, and tongue (gyutan) don. I'd order all of them again except the tongue, which was just okay. Egg isn't included with any of the dishes and costs an extra $2.50. I like the food, but it's expensive for what it is. Two regular bowls for two people will run over $70 with tax and tip. It's more of an occasional stop than a regular one. read more
Don't know what compelled me to get a Gyutan Bowl instead of their famous Americans beef Don bowl but I don't regret it. The gyutan bowl was tender and the little side of salad and kimchi was solid. It also came with a little bit of spicy miso to complement the beef tongue as well. The side of miso soup is always appreciated. I thought the overall meal was solid for $35~ after tax and tip but wasn't over the top wow. This review is solely off of food. Service was quick and accommodating. Red rock replaced what use to be Jay Birds which replaced a Udon place. Located inside Santa Anita mall across Din Tai Fung. What I ordered: - Gyutan Don (Beef Tongue Rice Bowl) - Curry & rice W/ Rib Eye Steak The plate report: - Gyutan Don(Beef Tongue Rice Bowl) - I loved this. The beef tongue was tender and had a bite to it. It was seasoned well and the rice had some sauce on it. This was a very good dish. Curry&rice W/ Rib Eye Steak - My fiancé got this dish and he was satisfied. The Rib Eye was soft and didnt have too much fat on it. The curry was okay, we've had better Japanese curry. Quick notes - Parking: This is located in the mall. I normally park near Macy or Nordstrom and walk over. Free though! - Peak hours: The mall is always packed on the weekends. You can always spend the rest of the day at the mall but be prepared to look for parking with the other mall goers. - they accept credit cards and cash - they only haves seats at their bar area so it's very limited. They probably have about 10 seats or so. - although there's limited seating, you can see the kitchen which is cool. You can see them cooking the dishes while you wait. - the standard dishes doesn't come with the egg you see in photos. You'll have to pay for the add-on Price point $$ - $15-30 Final Score: 4 out of 5 stars. I would probably come back but I don't think I would wait in line if there was one. I've been to the Torrance location several times and can say that this location is just as consistent. For first timers, I highly recommend trying their signature dish: Kobe Sliced Roast Beef Don topped with a raw egg. The meat is so tender and pairs well with the soy and white sauce. The rice soaks up all the delicious beef jus. Other go-to items are their omu-rice curry dishes and their grilled beef tongue bowls. Their curry has the perfect amount of spice for me (which is not too spicy). I love this place because it's comfort food for me. A regular size bowl (usually 5 oz of meat) is very filling. read more
This location has a bar/food stall seating style located next to Uncle Tetsu of the Santa Anita Mall. Wait times can be long during peak hours on weekends, but I was able to get a seat right away around 1pm. I tried the US Kobe Beef Don (regular size) and enjoyed the textures of the beef with the flavored rice. The meal also came with a complimentary miso soup. Be sure to add in the egg, especially if it's your first time! Although the price was steep at $28 (with the egg), I'm unsure if I'll be back again. It was worth the try though! read more
Was excited to see a Red Rock open in this area. The space itself is small but great for solo dining. I got the US Kobe Slice Beef Don and thought the amount was generous, very filling, and tasted fresh. Service was quick and great. read more
I got the angus cut steak don here, which was delicious with the sauce and tender beef. My friend and I also shared a three piece ebi tempura which was perfectly fried. Altogether was a great meal although expensive, so i would only come back on special occasions. read more
We ordered the Angus ribeye cut steak don, omicron curry rice, and hamburger steak and wow, everything was absolutely delicious! The beef was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the curry was rich and comforting, pairing perfectly with the rice. The hamburger steak was also juicy and full of umami every dish left a great impression. I love how this gem is tucked inside a shopping mall with just a single row of seats, it gives it a cozy, hidden treasure feel. The only thing I wish is that they could expand, because the food is amazing and their business is clearly thriving. The staff were also super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.highly recommended read more
