We were looking for a Korean food that wasn't all you can eat and we came across this spot. The have a WabaGrill / Chipotle approach where you choose your protein and sides. The food tasted great. You have to pay an additional $2.50 per bowl but it's worth it. It Beef Bugolgi. The reason for the 4 stars is because the portions are very small. I spent $38 for two bowls. For a couple of weeks, I've been keeping an eye on the Red Pine Cafe Instagram page that somehow popped up on my foodie Instagram feed. When I heard of their Grand Opening, I knew I had to check them out! They are located in a small strip mall area off Temecula Parkway. When you pull into the strip mall area, they are to the end on the left. So don't miss it! There is parking to the left of the building next to the restaurant as there aren't spots in the very front. As I immediately entered, I was greeted warmly by the kind owners. To the left wall, you see the instructions on how to construct your bowl to your liking. straight ahead is the counter where you order and pay and to the right is a small seating area for those to dine in-house. That evening, I purchased two bowls as they were having a Grand Opening special only on that day. For the first bowl, I ordered with white rice, beef, corn, carrots, mushrooms, edamame, bean sprouts, spinach, gochu sauce, seed mix, and shredded egg. The second bowl was their grilled chicken with basically the same toppings but without the mushrooms. Both bowls were incredibly tasty. The proteins were juicy and the beef was flavorful with whatever bulgogi marinade was used! Not only tasty but very filling! BTW the gochu sauce is amazing! It's slightly spicy with a hint of sweetness. I am stoked that The Red Pine Cafe opened and wish them nothing but a huge success! If you are in the area, support The Red Pine Cafe and check out their tasty eats! Not only do they have bowls, I believe they do have their various canned drinks and Thai Tea boba. Also, don't forget the pickled cucumber and the homemade kimchi! They ran out of kimchee by the time I got there but knowing how tasty their food is, I'm sure the kimchee is delicious also. It was really tasty. I love that from 2-5pm they have happy hour and i was able to get a thai tea (dairy free milk) with boba with my bowl for only $2! I got the white rice bowl with pork and all the toppings except corn. I enjoyed it. I got pretty full. They even gave me pickles and kimchi sides which were great. Love fermented foods! I just wish the pork was a little less charred. Also everything is served in disposable plastic so if you're eating in would be nice to have real silverware and dishes as an option. Finally tried Red Pine Cafe yesterday after we've been wanting to check it out for a while. The cafe is a bit tucked away in a corner of a shopping center. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly worker behind the counter who asked if we had been there before and when we said it was our first time he quickly let us know what was most popular. The restaurant appeared clean, and the food station was clean as well. I opted for a chicken bowl with brown rice and all the toppings, plus the half and half sauces he recommended. We also had the pickled cucumbers and kimchi. At first, I was a little bit thrown because the ingredients were all cold, except for the rice, which was warm. I was not sure if I liked it at first, but the more I ate, the better it tasted. Then ingredients were fresh, and the bowls were well served. The pickled cucumbers were very good. I had never tried kimchi, and while it was good, it was a bit too intense for my liking. My husband liked it though. We sat outside and noticed that there was a steady stream of customers coming through the door. For 2 bowls (with the kimchi and pickled cucumbers) and 2 diet Cokes our total was $40. Not bad. Wanted to try this place out, we've been on the hunt to support local business more. We got the steak bowl with the gochu sauce! We did order 3rd party delivery so we were not able to speak to the restaurant at all, however the order was seamless and items were correct! Excellent portion sizes, very great price! The steak was very tender and flavorful. Gochu sauce has some nice spice, I think could've been a touch spicer. The homemade pickles are a MUST! They reminded me of my childhood! The only two comments I would have are 1) the rice was a little mushy , not sure if was just because of turn around time ( about 20) so I'll wait till we eat in... And then I know it would be fine if ordering inside the restaurant but descriptions of items would be nice on the website... I.e. cheese corn lol is it just corn with cheese who knows lol. I was not expecting such delicious Korean food in Temecula but this place was SOOOO good! The bowls are basically build your own bibimbap. For me, the perfectly seasoned vegetables were the stars of the show. Honestly the chicken was a bit on the dry side but it didn't matter as the flavor of ingredients mixed together was just so good. Restaurant is clean with about 20 seats. There is also additional outside seating. It's located in a quiet strip mall with plenty of parking. Portions were small for the price ($14.89). It was the perfect size meal for my kids, but left me still a bit hungry. I'd love to see bowl size options and larger protein servings.
