Located inside the Strathfield Sports Club this KFC (Korean fried chicken) styled restaurant has all you need when it comes to chicken! We got here around 6pm and there were only a few people, However, by 6.45pm all the tables were taken. So you need to get in early to snag a table or if not come a bit later. You order your food at the counter and it will be brought out to you when its ready. Drinks are cheap as its a sports club so similar to RSL prices. We ordered 3 variations of fried chicken and they were all finger-licking good! The super spicy chicken was waayyyyyyyy spicy i could only eat one (sad face, i am only starting to rebuild my chilli game). Overall, great first time visit and reasonable prices, chicken sizes either come in entree or main so we got 3 entress of the 3 varieties. Street Parking is available although limited, So get there early!

Absolutely perfect. The best Korean Fried Chicken I have had so far. The flavours are very complex. It isn't what I would call cheap, but the servings are big. The chicken is cooked perfectly, the spicy chicken is actually very spicy and I loved it. You know how most Asian restaurants in Australia seem to reduce the spice whenever they know a non-Asian is ordering a spicy dish, well this place doesn't do that, and I thank them for not changing the recipe for westerners. If I want fake Asian food, I will go to the local take away shop and order a fried rice special. I've only had one Korean fried chicken place that was as good as this one, and that was all the way back in Osaka, Japan. My one criticism is I think the price is too high, at the end of the day it's only chicken, you may get a kg of chicken, but you are paying around $30-$40/kg. And you are pretty much just paying for the food, the restaurant is in a sports club, you have to get up to order food, and you have to get up and go to a separate bar to order drinks... So you aren't paying for convenience and atmosphere... For example you can go to one of the Korean fried chicken restaurants in the city, have a nicer view in a proper restaurant, in a better more expensive location with much higher overheads than Red Pepper has, and the meal will be the same price. That is why I think the price is too high for a venue inside a sports club out in Strathfield... I will go back again, but i would go back more often if the price was more reasonable. The food though is still worth 5/5 stars

small store , big flavours! Though this place is famous for its fried chicken but they are not braces friendly, so I opted for my favourite dishes - Seafood pancake & Spicy stir fry pork. Both dishes are delicious! The seafood pancake is packed with seafood & spring onions ( a little too much actually) but yet very crispy. And for the stir fry pork, it's not too spicy / oily . Cant wait to take off my braces cause im definitely coming back for those yummy looking fried chicken :)

RSL setting, but the food was surprising wonderful. We were not dissappointed with the teriyaki chicken and seafood hotpot (a bit spicy) if you love chilli . You can ask for less spicy. Btw, i recommend the korean beer to go with the meal.

I usually prefer my beef medium rare, but it got mixed with the pork, so everything got cooked well done. If my beef was cooked medium rare, this would probably be a 5 star review. Sirloin Beef $39 AUD - Beautifully marbled. Marinated Beef Ribs $36AUD - This was good and had generous meat. We ordered too much meat, but amazingly we finished it all, so it had to have been really good. Cheese Corn Side Dish - Okay, too cheesy for me. I bet very few people say that, lol. Tofu Side Dish - I am not a tofu or soup person, so I did not try. They have both Korean and Australian beers, thank you. I chose to drink the local beers, as the Korean brand beers were the same as the U.S. Support locals. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. Indoor/outdoor seating were very limited. Semi-open kitchen, see picture. You will be crammed in to maximize space. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 10:30pm. Not sure if they have bathrooms; sorry I can not remember and I did not take a picture. Service - Full service. They actually cook the food for you at your table. Both the owner and waiter cooked for us. I really appreciated that. But I am also sure they do that to turn the tables faster, good business practice. Win/win. Price - See menu, Korean foods are always a little on the expensive side, but when you take into consideration the current US exchange rate, it was a sale for us. :) Owner Comment - Congrats on your success.

As a Korean-American from Los Angeles, I'm no stranger to Korean food. When I moved to Sydney, I…read moreheard all about Strathfield and was excited that this seemed to be the closest thing to Koreatown back in LA. I came out here on a Tuesday for lunch after seeing raves about Hansang all over TikTok, but I was mostly let down by the food quality. For my first time in Strathfield, it didn't leave an impression on me and left me wanting ... better Korean food. I got the seafood tofu stew and was extremely disappointed by the flavors in it. The picture on the menu, which was loaded with seafood, looked nothing like the reality of the stew-- which honestly wouldn't have been a problem if the flavors didn't feel so off to me. Upon first spoonful, you just get hit with the taste of garlic (which is odd to me because I love tofu stew but never notice the garlic flavor of the ones I get back in LA's Koreatown). Flavors were forgettable and the soup was simply bland with a side of garlic. If you're used to BCD Tofu House quality stew, forget it. You're better off ordering something else from the menu-- although my friend also remarked her soup was nothing special either. I wouldn't have left a review like this if it weren't for the prices. As soon as I opened the menu, I noticed that a lot of the stew/soup/dishes were similar prices. That might not seem odd to some, but as someone that grew up around authentic Korean food, I can tell you you're being scammed. There is no world in which you should be paying $20+ for a kimchi pancake (even in AUD). Sullungtang was also extremely overpriced for what it is. Charging for extra side dishes, too? Crazy. Take your money elsewhere. I refuse to believe this is the most authentic Korean food you will find in Sydney's proclaimed Koreatown.

I enjoyed myself here. The food was decent; it didn't blow your mind but would go back again…read more Definitely go here if you want some tasty Korean food.

The charcoal cooking method gives a great taste as opposed to some of the more common electric burners. Don't let the entry fool you, you'll have to take the elevator up to the second floor to access this restaurant. Once you reach the second floor you'll be greeted by the friendly staff who will seat you immediately. While you progress to your table you'll pass by a showcase of varied meats a lot of which is Wagyu! The displays were clean and well organized surely to amp up your appetite. In a glass room you'll notice one of the chefs operating a meat slicer as the meat is cut fresh upon ordering. As I'm sure some of you Korean BBQ fanatics have experienced some restaurants have pre portioned frozen meats. Don't skimp out on this restaurant, the food quality is high so make the most of it! While honeymooning in Sydney my wife and I were on the hunt for "Yangnyeom Gejang". Neither my wife nor I are Korean but "Yangnyeom Gejang" is Spicy Marinated Raw Crab. If you've never tried it and are open minded seriously give it a try as its not readily available. The crab dish was extremely well portioned and makes for a great side dish/appetizer. The banchan was superb and you'll be offered a variety of side dishes to accompany your meal. Aside from the raw crab we ordered Wagyu Beef Tongue, Galbi, and Pork belly! All of which satisfied us and we were well satiated! Whether you're just visiting or a local resident I HIGHLY recommend Jang Ta Bal for your next Korean BBQ venture!
