In A Nutshell: -You hear alot about Australian beef, so when you put "2+2 is 4, minus 1 is 3, quick math"...haha, had to bite Big Shaq off "Man's Not Hot. -Seriously, when you eat wagyu Australian-Korean beef you are treated to a special, special treat. -The marbling was SUPREMELY RED (supposedly from Australian farmers using wine to soak the grains that are feed to the cows). -678 Korean BBQ is a little expensive, but man the beef is so tasty & so worth it for the few pieces you get. -Service was average. Overall, the ambience was a little too bright for my liking, but I did feel like I was back in Hongdae, South Korea (my fave hood, in my fave city in the world).

    The menu was right.

Best Korean BBQ in Sydney for the following reasons: The place exclusively does BBQ. In fact, they will insist that you do order some BBQ dishes if you're not going at lunch time where they have a lunch menu too. Pricing is very fair (anywhere around $15-25 per person . Depending on how many people in your group, and whether you are drinking or not). Also the BBQ is also charcoal based so the meat tastes better (also well vented so you don't have BBQ smell on your clothes). However, I'd probably avoid this place like a plague if you are vegetarian (but then again BBQ + vegetarian doesn't mix). Would I go again? Definetly! But I'd recommend a group of at least 3-4+ so you can order more (and ends up being cheaper per person)

Hot coals, you can feel the heat when they afte bringing it to the table.

The meats came quickly with so many sides. I loved because it was different freedom what we get at any Korean restaurant in the USA. They use hot coals to heat your food and to be honest the taste is better than a regular gas stove.

Great atmosphere with friendly staff. Quick and great customer service! When asked for their recommendations on servings they were very helpful in helping us order the appropriate amount. The wagyu cuts were fragrant and tender. We loved the corn and cheese, egg on the side of the BBQ as well! Overall a great environment with plenty of space between tables making for a comfortable dining experience! They also have a new location in Eastwood!

This place is so hip and packed with young people! Run by Koreans, it really takes you into true Korean culture with lots of soju, beer, laughter and that glorious BBQ smell. The place was full after 8pm on a Monday night. After grabbing a table, the side dishes were bought out (and there's quite a few). They do an awesome spicy dressing for the salad and pickled onions. The meat was delicious - the beef was so incredibly tender and the pork was like 'melt in your mouth' stuff. It didn't even taste like pork! Their marinated beef is also fantastic too. One good thing about this place is that each BBQ stove had their own air sucking thing from above so, although you will still smell a bit of BBQ, it's not as bad. Make sure you also get the steamed egg - it is ridiculously good and get the rice with black bean (it's like purple rice); tastes so much better. Definitely give this place a try, it's one of the better places for Korean BBQ in the city that is traditional!

Korean BBQ is one of my favourite types of restaurant and 678 does a pretty damn good job at it. The menu doesn't offer quite the same variety as the other BBQ restaurants nearby (for example, there's no chicken and not much seafood) but 678 delivers deliciousness on everything they serve. The side dishes provided are perhaps less varied than other BBQ restaurants, but when I was there they included fresh vegetables, lettuce leaves, egg and soups (as well as the more basic typical dishes). Good food aside, I typically wouldn't go to a Korean BBQ restaurant for lunch on a work day to avoid the BBQ smell sticking to my clothes, but 678's modern grills, powerful (and quiet) ventilation system and open air environment does a great job at avoiding this problem that plagues other similar restaurants. There's even a rack near each table to hang your coat away from all the action. Topped off with friendly, quick and polite staff, and a clean and well decorated environment (K-Pop fans love the portraits and memorabilia on the walls), 678 is easily my Korean BBQ restaurant in the CBD. Check it out.

Had a friend rave about this place for weeks and he dragged me along. I usually avoid the money dens of Korean BBQ unless I am going straight home to shower and change. Unusually 'self serve', which means waiting in line to add your booking on their iPad/samsung device at the counter.. Shown to our seats, we then write our own order.. write on the menu how many of the items you want.. Danger!!! do not over order or do not let the extremely hungry person order! There were four of us and he ordered enough for 8. We needed another table. In fact, the waiter brought over another two stools to put some dishes on until there was enough room. OK, so the meat is Phenominal! probably the best charcoal Korean beef in Sydney. Great marinade with excellent quality of Wagu, porkbelcy etc. Other dishes were pretty good and the side dishes lacked variety and generosity, but the meat made up for that. A few beers and some bottles of Soju made it a fun night. I did go straight home after dinner but did not smell as smokey or as marinated as i expected. Good ventilation. 678 is busy. we had to wait for a table on a week night and it's a big restaurant. Do- Try the variety of meat available. Do- Go in a group (not really ideal for couples) Do- order the yueKae (don't know the spelling). Great flavoured raw beef to contrast with BBQ. Do- order a soup (kimchi and seafood was great) and the steamed egg. Be Careful- The soju is an even drink, easy to drink with dire consequences. Do Not- Let the starving friend order. It will be way too much food. 678 was good enough for me to go back twice in the last two weeks. Yes, the last time, two people ordered and there was way too much food.. again.

This place was great. Reminded me of the Korean BBQ I use to have in Japan and they've got Asahi on tap! Grill over hot coals, no gas.

Don't let the entry fool you, you'll have to take the elevator up to the second floor to access this restaurant. Once you reach the second floor you'll be greeted by the friendly staff who will seat you immediately. While you progress to your table you'll pass by a showcase of varied meats a lot of which is Wagyu! The displays were clean and well organized surely to amp up your appetite. In a glass room you'll notice one of the chefs operating a meat slicer as the meat is cut fresh upon ordering. As I'm sure some of you Korean BBQ fanatics have experienced some restaurants have pre portioned frozen meats. Don't skimp out on this restaurant, the food quality is high so make the most of it! While honeymooning in Sydney my wife and I were on the hunt for "Yangnyeom Gejang". Neither my wife nor I are Korean but "Yangnyeom Gejang" is Spicy Marinated Raw Crab. If you've never tried it and are open minded seriously give it a try as its not readily available. The crab dish was extremely well portioned and makes for a great side dish/appetizer. The banchan was superb and you'll be offered a variety of side dishes to accompany your meal. Aside from the raw crab we ordered Wagyu Beef Tongue, Galbi, and Pork belly! All of which satisfied us and we were well satiated! Whether you're just visiting or a local resident I HIGHLY recommend Jang Ta Bal for your next Korean BBQ venture!

It's a name that strikes fear into the heart of the enemy as you imagine Dukbaegi and the 46 other ronin charging furiously into battle screaming a chilling war cry... but... this is neither feudal Japan nor a blockbuster movie starring that bloke from Bill 'n' Ted's. It is, however, a relatively new and very good Korean BBQ restaurant. I had to ask fellow yelpers where I ate because this place needs a branding lesson (as in molten metal on cowhide). The menu doesn't have the name on it, instead you get a double dose of discombobulation as Korean characters co-mingle with the English words "Korean table", which just confuses the bejeezus outta me. In fact you'd be so hard pressed to find this place that I doubt anyone will ever see this review because they won't be looking for Dukbaegi. Hopefully my search engine prowess doesn't fail me now, and by entering the keyword *Makanai* which is the restaurant next door, we should see this result rise like cream to the top. So how was the food? It was delish, fresh and hot (temperature not spicy). The positives were the serving size and the sides - which consisted of little potato fritters, mini-mash, and miso soup. The downside was that it took a long time for food to come out despite the place being relatively empty. I had the BBQ Chilli Pork Hotpot and it was super tasty. The soup was spicy and very flavoursome. My only complaint would be the chopsticks. Why do Koreans insist on using metal flat chopsticks? It makes it very difficult to use, especially with noodles.
