My grandson, Joey, and I enjoyed a delicious dinner served by Pam. Joey mentioned his birthday last week. He didn't mention that he did not get a birthday cake this time. But Pam must have known anyway. She brought him a key lime pie slice with lots of whipped topping and 5, yes, 5 cherries on top and on the sides. Happy Birthday was written on the platter in chocolate, and a lighted candle was on. the dessert. Our group of 10 seniors lunched at the Collins Road Red Lobster. Service was very slow, we were in a back room far from the kitchen. We were charged extra gratuity because of our size group, but they only kept topping our beverages and bringing cheese biscuits before finally coming in with the entrees. I had lobster bisque, and never found any lobster in it. The explanation was it was something that's an extract or something and using real lobster would have cost me more. I love the food but service is crappy. Last 2 times recent I've ordered on-line for curbside. 1st time I waited 20 minutes, had to call and get help. Today I tried online to order curbside but I wanted lemon wedges instead of tarter sauce and there was no place to ask..so I called and placed my order with a person and asked for extra lemon. I'm willing to pay for it. There were 2 little lemon wedges! Oh and I waited in my car 15 minutes, went inside and was ignored by 5 employees! I absolutely loved this place, I could have eaten here every day. But something changed in the last year or so. It is not the same Red Lobster, the food don't taste the same, the portions are smaller, the price went up, and the staff just isn't happy as they was before. You don't get greeted at the door like before. After you order, you have to hunt down your waiter for refills on your drinks or more Biscuits. The plates that they brought out was soaking wet. And still dirty? I had to send back 3 of 'Em before I actually got a clean one. And our order was so messed up. I think they got it at the wrong table. After all of that and everything gets straightened out, my shrimp tasted like it was Freezer burnt. We asked to see the manager and after 20 minutes. We said the heck with it. False advertising at its best. First and foremost let me thank Red Lobster (Cedar Rapids) for making my daughters birthday dinner a unsatisfying mess. She choose Red Lobster for her birthday lunch because of the amazing four-course meal they are currently advertising on their website for Wed/Thurs. Once we arrived at the restaurant we were shown were the daily specials were on page 21 of the menu, the Wed/Thurs special for the four-course meal refers you back to page 18 were there is no four-course meal, but a three-course meal substitute. When we asked about it we were told the four-course special is no longer available. Which means that is falsely advertised on the company website and on the in-restaurant menu. For a company of this size and reputation, this is unacceptable. There should not be specials advertised that are not honored! If this was not problematic in itself, the waitress we had while very polite took long periods of time between visits to our table. I waited over ten minutes to get sugar for my tea, another long wait before our order was taken. That said, after our orders were taken she was pretty attentive. While ultimately ended up ordering the three course special, I was never offered nor received my side. My daughters fries had so much salt on them they literally crystallized on the fries. We ordered for pick up on sept 30th for our anniversary dinner. Due to covid and being high risk dine in isn't an option for us. We ordered the Ultimate Feast and the salmon and shrimp combo meals. Both expensive meals. We were told that since it was not a dine in meal, the salads were extra fees yet when meals are dine in, salads are always included in the meal price. Also asked for more biscuits and told that we had to pay extra again and it was a minimum of 6 biscuits, again because it was not dine in yet dine in we always are offered 4 more for no extra cost. To top it off, we paid the extra fees and when we got home we discovered no extra biscuits! The food we did get was good but the prices for the meals were the same as dine in yet we got less considering paying full price to have salads and the extra biscuits we never got! Why?!?! I was back in Cedar Rapids for a business trip and my friend and I wanted some seafood. We went to the most logical place for a seafood feast- the local Lobster. We stopped in around 9:00 pm on a Thursday evening and were seated immediately. The hostess informed us that our "seafood expert" (I'm not kidding) would be by to take our order shortly. As if on cue, a high school student came out, informed us he was going to be our fish sommelier, and took our drink order. He did a great job (I wish I could remember his name)... we never saw the bottom of our glasses, and he always came out to ask permission before bringing the next course... which, while a bit pretentious, I really appreciate. I mean, I know it's only Red Lobster- but eating there will set you back at least 50... it's nice not to feel rushed through your courses. This kid was seriously the best waiter I've ever had... and I've eaten at some really uppity places. The food, while served at the correct temperatures (cold salad, hot biscuits, hot entrees, etc.), tasted like what you'd expect from the Lobster. Lots of butter. Lots of salt. You knew you were eating fish because it's what you ordered... but you couldn't really taste it through all of the sauce. The salad appeared (and tasted) as if it has been dry-aged in a hot Ford Escort on a an August day. The Cheddar Bay Biscuits were glistening in a way that said "I will kill you". They were so greasy that they turned the napkins translucent (which is totally the best and the reason I eat them). The seafood tasted like it had been batch-prepared in whatever coastal town it came from (possibly China), flash frozen, and heated in a microwave once I ordered it. Seriously. Five stars for our waiter. Two (generous) stars for the food. read more

Probably the worst experience in my life. I have visited red lobster many times before and never had any issues. This time my fiancé decided to take our daughter and I out and wanted to surprise our daughter with a lobster. The lobster was very uncooked to a point we broke it open and it was all slimy. Asked to speak to the manager and he came back being a total punk asking us how we wanted the restaurant to cook it. Kept talking over us being rude as we were trying to tell him what the issue was. We all had tried it and my daughter threw up all over the table. To say the least our waiter was great and had apologized to us on the behalf of his manager. Iowa is a long way from any ocean. Maybe that's why things cost as they do. Seafood is great. On occasion this place feeds the need for sea. I prefer my salmon blackened my shrimp grilled and my lobster buttered. the Caesar salad comes chilled. I prefer a baked potato to the new spuds. asparagus costs extra and the standard green beans are wirey and the size of Straws. good thing i don't come here for the veggies as i would not. Red lobster is one of those chain stores that is very consistent throughout the US. The interior, the menu choices, the way the food is prepared, etc. are pretty much the same in every restaurant. No a bad thing, but that means that I will had a hard time writing a review since there is nothing new I can say about this Cedar Rapids store that you don't already know. How about this, I was on a business trip and it was a Wednesday night around 7:30pm. This place is packed with locals who I assume must have tried every single restaurant in the every corner in the city. It took about 20-30 minutes to get me seated. Why don't these people go to their local grandma and grandpa shops and support their neighbors instead? That pretty much says it all. One star off because there was no surprises. Food was a bit salty and the portion was not the greatest. My server must be new and every 5 minutes or so that kid would came over and ask me if everything was alright. Went there tonight on my day off of the service was good the food was all just warm they had to reheat my appetizer and then when the food came out the food was the same way just warm when the manager came out he made me feel like I was asking for something for free yes me if I wanted to a dessert to take home and I said no and he went over and talked to the waitress and all they took off with the appetizer I will never be back very poor management it was a Monday night you would expect everything to be hot when it comes out of the kitchen. read more

I usually haven't had an issue with this restaurant, but tonight was different. I can't stand a nasty bathroom. There was toilet paper all over the floor and the trash cans were all over flowing. It smelled like a stink bomb was dropped and it looked like the place hadn't been touched in a least three days. Gross gross gross!! I don't like the fact that there are no toilet seat liners. Seafood choices are rather limited in Cedar Rapids. Red Lobster attempts to fill that niche but diners who are used to big city or coastal seafood restaurants should not expect very much. Frozen fish and shrimp dominates a menu that is mixed with chicken and beef dishes. The menu offers 'catch of the day' selections but I do not remember if the menu indicates whether or not the fish has been previously frozen or if it is really fresh. Portions are small but that is to be expected in a restaurant that is so far from the source. There used to be a seafood restaurant in Cedar Rapids that prided itself in flying in fresh unfrozen fish a few times a week. I doubt if this is the case with Red Lobster. Service tends to be slow and, judging by the varying daily times I have eaten here, is not effected by the amount of diners in the establishment. Grilled or broiled fish selections are limited but are very good. The sides are also excellently prepared.The crisp steamed broccoli and salted baked potato are standouts. The side salads are very good as well. Soup selections are limited to overly caloric and overly salted creamed soups. Better soup choices, such as Red Lobster's Manhattan Clam Chowder and Seafood Gumbo are not available here. All dishes are unfortunately overly salted making salt the prominent taste. You can check the sodium count for yourself online at Red Lobsters website. Salt was the major taste of their Chef's Signature Shrimp and Lobster Pasta dish which I had recently. Some of the lobster taste came through in the three pieces of lobster in the dish but the main taste was salt and a truly awful pasta sauce that was advertised on the menu as 'Maine lobster, tender shrimp, fresh asparagus and tomatoes in a white wine and lobster butter sauce over linguini.' Actually it tasted like the fake butter you get on popcorn in movie theaters. If I were you, I would avoid sauced dishes at Red Lobster. Also be aware that according to Red Lobster's nutrition document, the full serving dish contains 1040 calories and 2170 mg of sodium. Unfortunately the grilled selections are not much better. Though selections such as grilled lobster, shrimp, and scallops are low in fat, this is made up for by whooping amounts of salt. 1000 mg more than you daily suggested maximum salt intake. Fried shrimp or scampi are actually better choices as is grilled salmon or stuffed flounder. My advice? There are very good fish dishes offered by standard area restaurants. Check them out and avoid the chains like Red Lobster if you can. read more

A co-worker and I took our clients, 2 disabled gentleman, to Red Lobster for lunch for a birthday treat. Everything from our table to the food to the service was excellent! I was especially impressed with our server, Tony. He treated my guys like adults and with respect, speaking to them instead of at them. I was very impressed with him!
