I went to 16th Avenue Grill for breakfast and was immediately disappointed when I walked inside and smelled a very musty smell inside. It appeared to be an older style restaurant with the outside falling apart. I was seated soon after my entrance and I chose to order a Breakfast Wrap with side of cottage cheese and an orange juice to drink. My orange juice was not of good quality, which was disappointing. The food I ordered was mediocre at best. For a breakfast wrap, it was more just wrap and not much inside. I read some reviews on this restaurant, so I thought it would be a good place to try but it was not. I definitely do not plan on returning. read more

Not the best omelet. Hash browns were really dry and over cooked. Won't go back. There is no service. They just keep walking past you and not asking if you need anything. read more

With an area inundated with predictable chain restaurants, one would assume that a creative independent restaurant could tap into this void and rise to the stratosphere. However, I noticed no such energy coming from this establishment. The exterior sign is tired and worn. The interior has a musty scent going on. The windows need cleaning and the well worn rug needs to be replaced. The cushions are missing from the booth seats. In other words, the place needs a face-lift. My cheeseburger was mediocre. The patty contained filler and seemed to be pre-made. The crispy fries were well done and tasty but not enough of them. The pickles should have been spears. Nothing exceptional here. There is no way this restaurant can have all those items on the menu and be fresh and ready to go. Focus on half of those items and make those exceptional. With a little ingenuity and elbow grease this restaurant could be a gold mine and a landmark for great dining. As of this review, you would find better quality food and more bang for your dollar elsewhere. 16th Avenue Grill needs works! read more

I've visited here several times and it's always been great. The food is more small town diner, but that's a good thing. Home made and delicious. The staff is super friendly and the prices are more than fair. Twice I've visited their Thanksgiving buffet and it's more like a big family dinner thanvisiting a restaurant. The staff and other diners all interact like family. Be sure to try the meatloaf, it's a winner read more

Our family has been going here for years. The breakfast menu is awesome...I eat it no matter what time of day we go in. The owners are incredibly friendly, and the food reminds me of good stuff that my mom would cook. So good and very family-oriented atmosphere. Would recommend to families for sure. read more

this place reminds me of a small town dinner only without the home cooked charm. my husband and I both had sandwiches. He had a burger with a fried egg on it. He said the burger was dry and seemed like a pre cooked patty. I had a crispy chicken sandwich. I added bacon, special sauce and onion tanglers. the flavor was great, but again the meat was dry and seemed like it was fried from a frozen form. we also both had side salads. these were great. the ranch dressing was very creamy. I think we will go back and try their Sunday buffet, but never again for lunch. read more

Breakfast is good, several of of the sandwiches at other tables looked really good, I wish that was true if the burger I had today. Decided to tried something new, the burger panhandler. Described as being two mini burgers on a toasted English muffin with cheese sauce and sauted onions. It sounded reminiscent of the great horseshoe concoctions that can be had all over southern Illinois. Unfortunately that was not to be, what I got was a microwaved fake charbroiled patty (ala burger kings junior patty) cut in half on the bottom of an English muffin (also cut in half) that was not even toasted (or slightly warm) covered in a light colored cheese sauce that had not discernible flavor. The fries were kinda good though. All that for the bargain price of $8.49? Give me a break My wife's breakfast looked great and left me feeling very cheated in the end. We'll come back for breakfast again, but when one page is all burgers it makes me suspect that I won't try them for dinner. read more

This place wasn't that bad. I went for the breakfast buffet and they were just putting out some hot and fresh food when I got there. I liked that the hash browns were from real potatoes and not from a box. I liked how friendly the staff were and the place was clean. They had Halloween decorations in there, which was cool. Cedar Rapids is lacking in decent breakfast buffets so this was nice to find. I would come back next time I'm on that side of town. read more

The foods not great, but the foods not bad, the price for what you get though is kind of costly considering I could get about the same quality at a cheaper cost at some drive-thru's around town. They are family and locally owned though and that does shine through in their care for the guests, but again the price for what you get almost tips the scale on service. I will go back though for their potato soup, which is a fairer cost then most items, and is some of the best I've found in town. read more

The 16th Ave Grill is an amazing mom and pop restaurant. The staff is attentive and all the food is cooked quickly and brought out hot. And plus you have to die for home made desserts made by Joyce one of the owners. I'd recommend stopping in to see all the smiling faces and to get some great homemade food read more

I've been here a few times. The food is good, and the prices aren't bad though a little higher than other area places on some items. Service is always very good. Not impressed with the buffet-- specifically, that there are no drink options (not even milk). You have to ask for milk for cereal and are given a cup of milk to pour on the cereal; but you can't get a cup of milk to drink without being charged. Just didn't make much sense. Would like more hot items to choose from for the buffet-- there were too many cookies, muffins, and donuts and not enough other stuff. But it's good enough. read more

The food is not good, service is not good. I had a cheeseburger and it did not taste like beef, when I told the waitress I was not happy with it, she argued with me and left my plate in front of me long after she had cleared everyone else at the table, I called and spoke to the owner about it and he hung up on me twice. Poor excuse for a restaurant, you can get a better cheeseburger at Hardees without paying $9 for one burger! The burger tastes like it has fillers in it and is just not good. read more

We typically eat here once a week or so. They have a HUGE menu with tons of variety (and lots of options for someone who doesn't eat meat like me). Their service is great and their prices are fair. Last night we tried their deserts for the first time and they were super good! We like that it's a low key atmosphere and we can get in and get a table any time! read more
