I have been going to Red Lobsters since the late 70's. Back then, you dressed nice to even go there, because the quality was very high, the service very high, and the price was high. I can live with all of that. It was that good. A great place to take a date. Over the years Red Lobsters changed with the times, but the food was still pretty damn good. So, I stayed on as a customer. The service was still good, but the remodels at all of them took a toll on the whole experience. The little things were gone. And then Red Lobster joined the corporate bandwagon......! Was I in a Red Lobster...? Thinking maybe we came at wrong time, but now the food was suffering from what it was known for. Rubbery lobster, ammonia smelling crab legs { aka spoiled crab legs}, salads not even half as good as in the past. So, last night, I guess out of habit, we tried Red Lobster for the last and final time. I called ahead to check waiting time. The mgr. said there is no waiting time. FRIDAY NIGHT, 6:30PM, and NO WAIT TIME....? We soon found out why. We were seated and the place was pretty dead. The smell of a dirty restaurant { everyone knows that smell..! } was strong. The waitress had an excuse for everything. We waited for drinks, we waited for straws. { She had 10 pens but not one straw, and had another staff member bring one straw. I guess my wife and I were supposed to share.} Red lobster biscuits are famous, so why did we have to wait 15 minutes to get them, and another 20 minutes to get another batch. BTW, 3 biscuits for two people. { guess we were supposed to split the third one. How romantic.... and stingy...! }. Looking at the one piece of paper menu, there is a chicken sandwich....??? And KUNG Pao Chicken...! RED LOBSTER...!!! { How about some BBQ while we are at it } Remembering the bad crab leg issue, I ordered shrimp scampi.. What a joke...! Rubbery shrimp in a flavorless butter{???} sauce. Tasteless..! Mashed potatoes ? A huge scoop of them...! This is an old restaurant trick to fill people up. When the mashed potato dominates the dish, something is wrong. I love seafood, but I left shrimp on the table this time. While all this is going on, the one table that had a family eating, complained about the same things we were. They soon left, and the staff comes to clean up, and takes his hand and pushes the bits of food on the floor. Wipes off the table only, and leaves the floor as is......! Other staff members came by and just tracked the food all over.. The filthy restaurant smell mystery solved. Red Lobster is now IMO a sinking ship. The place hit an iceberg a long time ago. The ship just hasn't sunk yet. A Friday night and no crowd tells me all I need to know. I predict Red Lobster will fold within two years. I'm never going back. read more

Start off, the service was very good. Friendly and attentive. For red lobster the crab legs, while small and pricey, were not mushy like they often are. I had the stuffed mushrooms for $9, not sure what they stuffed them with. All I could find was cheese and breading. The meal was the best I would expect from red lobster. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!! The server named Jose was just terrible and he acted like our table was invisible, wasn't paying attention when we were ordering and got the order wrong. He never gave us the biscuits, never refilled our drinks. Ohhh but he catered to the other tables with no problem. Absolutely the best visit I've had at a Red Lobster in a long time. Visited on a Saturday evening (03/12/2016) before it got really really busy. Hospitality is great, our waitress was very sweet and always made sure we were well taken care of. We ordered their flounder and had it cooked oven broiled, along with sides of broccoli, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I know, asparagus sounds gross but honestly, having had never had that before, RL definitely helped me love it. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. As was everything else on our plate. Hubby and I shared the meal as we both didn't need a whole whole lot to fill us up. Plus, we're on a budget. Everything worked out great. Our meal was only $21 (mainly because we added the asparagus as an additional side so that added an extra $4 to the ticket) but completely worth it. Went to red lobster thinking I was going to have great service and a great meal today! I was sadly disappointed when our waitress took forever to get anything to us! The salad and mozzarella sticks were pretty good. The cheese that they used in the salads was tasteless but I didn't really mind that. What was really disappointing was the entrees. My friends 7 oz steak was EXTREMLY dry. The mash potatoes tasted like they were the powdered mash potatoes that you buy from the store. I had the lobster lovers dream. Again the mash potatoes tasted like they were powdered mash potatoes. The lobster tasted like they had soaked it in dishwater. The shrimp in the pasta that comes with the entree was flavorless. This is the worst managment ever and i was just on the phone with them. Manager for the "host" only has time for interviews at 3:30 and wont do them any other time. She sounds like a rude lazy person. But one of the other manager made me explain everything i was calling about just for her to say no i cant help you with that. read more

This is a great choice for dinner if you like to shiver while you eat. Talk about freezing! We went on a Thursday night and it was dead inside. We were greeted right away by the host and seated. Our waitress took our drink order in a timely manner. I ordered shrimp Alfredo and my partner ordered a 7 oz sirloin steak with no complaints. My Alfredo was average. Not bad, not amazing. I didn't eat my side dish of broccoli as it was dried out and not so tasty. Our server brought us extra drinks without having to ask her. She did bring the check halfway through our meal and told us not to rush. Although we all know that's exactly how they rush you out. My favorite seafood restaurant for over 30 years. I have never had a single complaint. I love the food although the scallops aren't as big as they used to be. Definitely try the baked or mashed potatoes with lobster bisque sauce! Even if you're not a lobster lover, you will love it! The crab legs are huge and you won't believe the size of the pile on your plate. Then there are the famous Red Lobster cheddar biscuits. So flaky and delicious you'll have to force yourself to stop eating them so you'll have room for your entre! read more

I ate at this red lobster today, and it was very clean and well kept. The wait staff was very friendly and professional as well. The food was very moderately priced, as well as moderate in taste. Biscuits. Oh, my, goodness. The cheddar bay biscuits is one reason to come here. They are awesome! I'm a shrimp guy so I love all things shrimp. I think this place has gotten better over time. Awesome food, good price, great service! Every time I visit red lobster I order crab legs and this time they came out steaming hot and very quick. Our server was a little blond girl kaylee I think, she was the most attentive, personable waitress I think I've ever met. We never had to wait for anything she was on it. This Red Lobster is just dirty! They don't do a great job cleaning up messes people make and the restaurant has a musty smell. To start off , we ordered 2 shrimp cocktails and only received one because they didn't have enough shrimp thawed really come on ! There was nothing good about the food. The salad is iceberg dumped out of a bag with 3 tiny tomatoes . Honestly long john silver would have been better . I ordered tilapia with lobster meat. The lobster was very rubbery and tasted like seaweed. The broccoli was thawed at best I could not eat it. I would not recommend this restaurant because if it's that dirty where the public can see, what does the kitchen look like. I give two stars because the waitress was very nice . read more

Been here for just over one hour and still no food. The restaurant is surprisingly empty for a Sunday afternoon yet they cited an increased busyness as the basis for us not getting our food. The food here is passable on its best day. The service is not great since that larger male manager left. He really did a great job managing the bad good but providing excellent service. Our server was nice but and tried to help us decide, took us a lil bit because the selections were limited. The menu is disorganized and chaotic. They no longer have the Parmesan encrusted Chicken that we liked so much. You know when you're not in the mood for seafood or can't have it, there was that. Not crazy about the only other choice, which was chicken Alfredo. Some of our group really wanted seafood so that's why we went. A couple of us settled on the Parmesan encrusted tilapia, normally that's good, but this time it wasn't. The baked potato was Luke warm, sour cream and butter barely melted. Broccoli was barely warm, the fish was hot but looked like they didn't even toast the crumbs on it. When we checked our fish it was a lil under cooked. Shrimp was good but mashed potato were thick! They seemed like instant. Plus not really hot either. Green beans were very oily and too hard! We like aldente but this was under cooked and tasteless, perhaps previously frozen? Salads were skimpy! It took us a few minutes to order and we were really hungry, so when the waitress (Kali) took our order we asked if we could please have some biscuits but she said "your biscuits will come out with your salads" Very disappointing, esp when you're feeling shaky. When the salads came out, she told us that they were making more biscuits and eventually brought us some. By that time I didn't care, I had a salad. You know, they claim that you can have all the biscuits that you want and use to serve you biscuits as soon as you sat down but now, even when you ask for the biscuits they don't give them to you. The place is very dark, and looks dated and dirty. As soon as you walk in there's an overwhelming smell of fish! Not the good kind of cooked fish smell but the fishy smell like in a fish market, well some fish markets I've been to have actually smelled better. read more

My husband and I were in Abilene today and decided to stop and eat at Red Lobster. We were sadly disappointed with more than one thing. When we walked in the door I heard one young female greeter say to the other, "You take them in, I got the last ones". This did not make us feel welcome right from the beginning. When we unfolded our silverware it was heavily spotted with residue and one of my forks had lettuce on it. Of course we asked for new flatware and we were surprised when instead of inspecting new sets before giving them to us, since there had already been a problem, she just grabbed more from the table beside us. We polished up our own and decided on our meal. My poor husband. His food was pretty bad. He ordered a New York strip and lobster. The strip was over done and had a huge vein of gristle running the length of it. The lobster was worse. It was over cooked to the point of rubber. To top it off she gave him no drawn butter for the lobster. When he asked her she said she would bring some but that never happened. We talked to the waitress, who was totally clueless. She brought over her manager who just shook her head and thanked us for telling her. We paid our bill and for the first time in nearly 40 years of marriage we left no tip. We usually give 30%.
