    Hot tub

Rooms are a good size, the bathroom exhaust fan didn't seem to work as there was no sound. The shower hot/cold markings are reversed, turn it to the blue dot for hot water. The hot tub has 5 broken jets or something that causes cold geysers to shoot up and splash everywhere. There are multiple cracks in the foundation with water spilling over. On the plus side the bar and grill has a nice flavorful burger and a pile of fries. They had a citrus beer that was good.

On our way to San Francisco, we needed a break and Redding was a good stop along the way. Now a lot of travelers have that idea and that might be the reason that every hotel chain has a motel or hotel of some sort here. There is a good variety from very cheap to high end'ish. Since we only wanted a few hours of sleep we could not enjoy a luxury resort and its amenities so we opted for a hotel in the mid-range level of prices and even there you can have luck or not. We decided on the red lion simplest based and price and ratings. And we have not been disappointed. This is an older hotel - which means everything was old-style in case of room setup and lobby. In the old days, everything was set up for a spacious welcome - in the lobby and the rooms. If a developer would take Over the Red Lion today he would at least put 20 more rooms even in the lobby alone! You mostly don't have that kind of nice space in new middle-priced hotels all is about using space as effectively as possible. So I really enjoyed the whole setup. And don't get me wrong when I say old style I don't say the rooms were old style and not taken care of. Quite the opposite: the rooms are well taken care of. And of course, you don't do a renovation in all rooms at once so there will be rooms that are not got a makeover. But we got a nice room and it had everything that you looking for a nice shower, fridge, even a key rig coffee maker! And it's big they don't call it a suite since it's only one big room but it was spacious. Really enjoyed that the bed was a bit wiggly but had comfy mattresses and pillows. And the bathroom even had one of the anti-fog modern mirrors. Great shampoo and body wash. Overall a great hotel to stop by. Our rate included breakfast and it's a typical all-American breakfast BUT they even offer a make-yourself waffle! Yummy. The breakfast included regular coffee but if you want something more fancy they have a whole Peet's coffee bar inside the breakfast room to buy all that you need in the morning. I'll have to say we had a really lucky pick this time and left well-rested and not hungry. We found our space to stay when going back and forth Of Course it's not a five-star hotel but it deserves a five-star rating since the rooms are big and have everything you need, are clean, the breakfast in the morning is up for a good start and the staff was friendly on the night shift for checking and the morning crew in the breakfast room!

Housekeeping woke my whole family up by vacuuming the hallways at 10:30 at night. Unhinged behavior.

I was traveling with a client of mine who has very occasional seizures, and early on in our first morning here he had one while alone in the shower. Luckily, this hotel is sandwiched between lots of different hotels and restaurants, but more importantly, between the fabulous Shasta Regional Medical Center the proximate Redding Fire House. First Responders were on site in about ten minutes (which felt like an hour) and transpo went smoothly despite there being no elevator and us being on the second floor (the staircase has a landing and everything). Now, this is all well and good, and relatively standard if I may be so bold, but I'm here to say that the staff at the Americana went way above and beyond the call of duty. Housekeeping was in the next room when he collapsed. When I saw the severity of the situation I-in a relative panic, ran over to nearby staff to ask for help. This incredible woman, Darby, was the perfect person to help (second only to an actual first responder, RN or doctor). After calming the situation down with nothing but grace, she explained a little bit of her own history with seizures and what it meant to her to be able to help us in any way. Darby supported my client and I both physically and emotionally while he came out of his seizure and fell into a deep sleep, thank God, and she even stayed with me for a few minutes after he had been loaded into the ambulance. She and her boss, the manager Heather, and another lovely woman from the Americana whose name I never caught, were so supportive, kind and patient with me while I tried my best to help the PMs gather the information they needed about my client. I'd imagine some people had to check in or out a bit late because of us, sorry! But I couldn't be bothered by other guests after how helpful the staff was. PS . He was cared for in the nearby SRMC, a great hospital about two blocks away. He is now home and in stable condition. TL,DR Staff came in clutch for IHSS worker when senior client had a seizure in the shower - Housekeeper & management absolutely rock The local hospital is excellent!!

This hotel is north of the city away from shopping and restaurants in the main part of Redding. The parking lot is shared with the Fairfield By Marriott. After reading reviews of both properties, my wife choose the Home 2 Suites. Check in was a little slow both times as there is only one employee working the front. But, they did their job as best they could. No upgrades to a larger room as I don't have status. We were given a room with 2 queens, exactly as we reserved. The room had a nice sofa, seating area and a large screen tv. Bathroom was large size and had soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion from Zero. They have a gym on the first floor with stationary bikes and treadmill for cardio. Dumbbells and a weight machine are available if you need to lift weights. A laundry room is part of the gym. The gym was adequate, though a little strange to have people in there waiting for the washing machine or dryer. It's a good hotel to stop at after a long drive north. They gave me everything I needed for a good nights sleep.

Breakfast was smaller than expected with limited options compared to other Hilton locations. There were no bacon, sausage, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs - the usual protein meats, which was disappointing. Parking is limited in the front, but there is more parking towards the back of the building. Parking and breakfast are covered with the cost of the room which is a huge plus. Bottle waters were not offered to me upon check in, nor at in room like most Hilton hotels even though I'm a Hilton member, so you'll have to ask them directly to get it complimentary as long as you're silver, gold or diamond status. I will stay here again compared to the Hilton garden a few miles south of them, even though that location is closer to restaurants, stores, gas station and Win River casino, just because of the nicer room, kitchen, and complimentary breakfast.

I was so happy with my bed and breakfast experience that I definitely will trust my fellow reviewers in the future. First, Janelle was super accommodating and let me check in early because I would be attending the wedding and needed to get ready. She followed up with me on text message as to my arrival time to make sure that she would be there to greet me. When I walked in, I noticed my phone number was coded to the key pad entrance to the B&B. So cool! Janelle was there to greet me and give me an envelope with my key and instructions. I went up with her to the bedroom and needless to say, was so impressed with her style and quality that she brings to her B&B. The room seemed to be flawless in the way that she spent time picking out pictures and linens. The linens were even washed in a very nice fabric softener and didn't have that normal "hotel" smell. I was able to get the Sun Dial Room, and even though it was the most expensive, it was definitely worth every penny. There was a fresh, large bottle of water in the room with chocolates. I had free wifi and a nice flat screen TV. A jacuzzi tub. And oh, did I mention.. the best, most comfortable bed that I never wanted to leave? Top it off.. breakfast in the morning makes me giddy just thinking about it. I had french toast, a vegetable frittata, potatoes, chicken/apple sausage, fresh juice and coffee. Janelle served breakfast promptly at 8:30 and I was definitely there with bells on. Everything was served family style and while eating breakfast you are able to enjoy the company of other guests, which makes breakfast that much more entertaining. For a few bucks more, stay at this bed and breakfast. Completely avoid the Howard Johnson or other chain hotel. You will not be disappointed.
