Do not have curious toddlers here. The hotel doesn't care about their safety or if they are left bleeding and needing stitches. This exposed oven edge led to my toddler sustaining an injury to his finger that required stitches. The hotel manager doesn't find this concerning and neither does his insurance company. The oven wasn't on. It is at knee height with no way to lock it. I had my back turned for a split second to pack up a diaper bag and turned around to my son's hand stuck in the oven bleeding. The manager didn't even offer an apology and we have a $2k medical bill. We were in town for an annual sporting event for our other child. The team stays here and I'll be doing my best to ensure other families stay elsewhere next year. The room also smelled like pee but I was willing to overlook that before the injury. read more

Friendly staff (shoutout to Casey at check-in!) and a comfy bed made for a decent stay. I liked having separate climate controls in each bedroom of the suite. The room was mostly clean, but the oven was gross and the furnishings were really worn -- stained carpet, nicked furniture, and grimy sofa arms. No luggage rack, a too-small TV in the living room, and a random comforter on the closet floor didn't help. Breakfast was average, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, and some sad looking fried eggs. I've stayed at many Bonvoy properties and this one felt the most rundown. Great staff, but the place really needs a refresh. read more

The only redeeming factor of this place was the friendly staff, I was disappointed in pretty much everything else. First off, the person working the front desk did not honor my request to get a higher floor room (I am a platinum member and therefore get priority) and claimed it was all given away before I got there, even though I booked the room months ago. instead I was given a disability accessible room (which is awkwardly set up for people who aren't disabled) on the first floor, and it was the first room off the hallway right by the breakfast area, so it was very noisy. The room was very dated and kind of dirty, especially the bathroom, and the tv was too small to be able to read anything on it from the bed (I have perfectly fine vision for reference). There was also an extremely rude lady in the breakfast area who brought her large & tall dog through the food line, which is unsanitary and extremely rude to people who don't want to be around dogs when eating, but employees saw and did absolutely nothing. The dog ended up licking a counter with syrup on it and the owner (as well as employees) did nothing to stop it. This hotel is very poorly managed and needs a major facelift, and while the employees were friendly they were very inattentive and should be trained to pay more attention to detail! read more

This hotel is in dire need of an upgrade. The carpets, the furniture, the kitchen appliances...all very dated and used (to say the least). The breakfast was questionable and really stretched being called a "hot breakfast". We respectfully declined and grabbed some food on our way out, but hey, to each their own. The staff is the only saving grace for this hotel. They were all sooo sweet and accommodating. Imagine if Marriot just invested a bit into this place, they already have the perfect team in place to make it great! read more

Just stayed two separate nights within a week at the Redding Townplace Suites. The woman checking me in, I believe her ne was Devin, was absolutely fantastic. Her infectious joyous attitude and friendly personality was more than welcoming and her eagerness to be helpful with restaurant recommendations (which were great) was above and beyond. This is not a traditionally "high end" property. That said I have stayed here at least a couple times a month for the last year because the service rivals any traditional 5 star property. The rooms have always been pristine, periodically they do a massive carpet clean throughout the hotel. They have a decent enough offering for their free breakfast. They have onsite laundry (free soap) and a perfectly adequate kitchen and gym. Back to the service. Both Devan and Jessica,who have managed my check ins for the past year(almost exclusively) have offered unparalleled service. They recognize me and my sister by sight. Our keys are waiting for us. My Bonvoy status is recognized with a hand written note in my room. Upgrades are offered when available. They can be swamped, and they still manage to do their job smiling and cheerful and make us feel like rockstars even though we come dragging in after 12 hours of farming looking like PigPen.(laundry is a perk we use) I had asked about a toothbrush, but managed to leave it at the front desk-opened my door last night and found a nice bag containing said toothbrush/toothpaste awaiting me. These women are turning on fire puts, delivering towels and sundries and working the front desk. They deserve a high five and a raise from their employer. read more

The TownePlace is a great place to stay if you are visiting for a few days and have to work or need a comfy kitchenette place to make your own during your stay. The room is very cozy, fully stocked kitchen and other appliances upon request from the front desk. They have a working space with a desk and then a tiny couch for relaxing. The TownePlace is located in a great location near the freeway, shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores. read more

We booked a night here so we could have a relaxing evening before heading home. We were up to visit the Garden of Lights and the Turtle Bay Exploration Park. In the parking lot, we talked to a woman who was walking her dog and she told us that her car had been broken into recently in the parking lot. She was glad that her car wasn't damaged. She told us what had been taken were clothes because there are a lot of homeless people around. We went inside to check in and that went pretty smoothly. There was a sign on the counter that warned guests not to leave anything in their vehicles. It's too bad because that caused me to not sleep well at all. Every time I heard a noise, I was standing at the window, looking down at my vehicle, hoping not to see anyone near it. We liked our room. It was clean and reasonable spacious. There was a mid-sized Refrigerator/Freezer, full sized microwave and dishwasher and service for four. We'll certainly look for other TownePlace Suites when traveling if we plan to be in one location for more than two nights. We had a bathtub with a showerhead. The shower had great water pressure. The only odd thing was that the clothes closet was in the bathroom. In the morning, they had breakfast offerings including Link Sausages, Scrambled Eggs, Waffles, Toast, English Muffins, Oatmeal, Apple & Orange Juices and Coffee. There was also toast, bagels and yogurt. Our vehicle was fine when we got back to it. read more

As the other reviews will tell you the beds are hard as the floor might as well sleep down there. Also the sheets I don't believe they wash or change them as others have said stains and other bugs. Had all same issues with our stay. I will say the staff up front was very pleasant but other than that this property is very outdated. read more

The only reason I don't give it only 1 star is because the clerk who checked me in, Evan, was extremely nice and very professional, and the studio I booked had a real kitchenette with plates and glasses and silverware along with a big refrigerator. Everything else sucked. The bed was hard as a rock. The pillows offer zero support. The tv is tiny and placed low on a table making it impossible to watch while lying on the bed. The sofa was tiny, worn out, uncomfortable, and didn't face the tv. No table near the sofa to set a beverage on. Not one subtle light fixture, or dimmer device, every light in the place is in your face! The only ice machine is on the 1st floor, so I had to get on the elevator to get ice. The freezer had two ice trays to make ice, but they had holes in them and they were difficult to get the ice cubes out of them. The toilet was super low to the ground and the seat was one of those cheap plastic contoured seats, which I can't stand. Basically, every piece of furniture and fixture inside the room was the cheapest piece of junk available. And to top it off, the free breakfast in the lobby was the worst, most disgusting food I've ever seen at any hotel's free breakfast that I've ever stayed at. We stayed here on Oct 28-31. After a 9 hour drive we entered room 105 exhausted. The first impression we had was immediately when we turned on the light switch. Literally. The actual light switch made us grimace because it was covered in built-up gray grime, thick enough to scrape with a fingernail. Then when removing our shoes we couldn't help but notice the thick black dirt on the baseboards and corners/edges of the floor. Rather than winding down after a long day, I went into cleaning mode and sanitized everything we would be touching- switches, door knobs/handles, faucet handles, remote, microwave buttons, etc. There were layers of gray sticky dust on all the doors, baseboards, on top of the fridge (which was eye level and low enough for housekeeping to simply wipe down), the light fixture in the bathroom had dust hanging off the edges because it had accumulated so much over time. There were pieces of black shaved hair on the bathroom backsplash ledge. It was evident that nothing had been wiped down well or sanitized. Everything was smudgy, grimy, or thick with dirt/dust. I wish I started taking pictures or videos to document it before I started cleaning. I did however start taking pictures after I casually used my clean foot to sweep a few wet wipes across the bathroom floor. I did this because the floor felt gross and sticky. And the results were absolutely disgusting! It would have taken at least 4 more attempts to get the bathroom floor to be satisfactory. Sigh. I refused to spend more time doing the job housekeeping staff already should have. Instead I wore brand new flip flops that I brought to avoid touching the dirty floor and carpet. My husband and kids wore socks most of the time. I provided pictures of how my husband's white socks turned black in less than an hour of walking on the carpet. The following day I took a picture of how his clean and showered feet also turned absolutely black from the dirty hotel room floor! He was not barefoot anywhere else. Also, the shampoo dispenser fell off the wall. There was a white gooey substance (caulking?) used to attach it to the wall and it was slowly sliding lower everyday until it finally fell. A sidenote about the toiletry dispensers- they are too high for most kids under 10/11. Luckily I brought most of our own toiletries so my daughter could help herself but I did have to pump the shower geI into a cup for her to use everyday. Then there's the sofa bed which was extremely old and you could feel the springs like there was no padding at all! It was loud and felt broken. My son tossed and turned all night and I could hear the springs every time. We also paid for a rollaway bed and my two kids took turns swapping between the rollaway bed and sofa bed each night. Of course they preferred the rollaway bed. I attached some photos to show a glimpse of our experience. I have a video but for some reason my yelp can't access it, so I took screenshots of a few parts of the video. The baseboard photos are from the bathroom but the entryway was much dirtier and I don't have images to those. It is truly worse in person. The pics don't quite capture it like real life. I'm not sure how the other rooms are but room 105 has been heavily neglected and is in desperate need of a good deep cleaning. The minimal effort of tidying up after guests leave is not enough. Especially for the price we paid! It is unacceptable for guests to arrive and feel uncomfortable with the reminder that every other guest before has left traces of germy finger marks and dirty foot traffic or hair shavings. We are loyal, gold elite lifetime Marriott customers and this was not up to Marriott standards. We have only ever written two negative reviews in all our years travelling (which is a lot!) and this location is one of them. I hope this feedback helps them make drastic improvements. Although this review is negative especially due to the unsanitary conditions, I am fair and thorough and will mention the positives. There is a lot of storage. The walls are thick enough to not hear your neighbors. The pool was decent. It had a lot of leaves and previous guests left behind their used towels and opened candy and trash, but the water appeared clean enough to swim. The complimentary breakfast was great with a good number of options (cold and hot foods) and a lot of seating to dine in. Breakfast staff made sure to keep the food replenished and were pleasant when I said Good Morning. There is a grill if guests choose to eat in one night. Customer service from the front desk staff was good. They were polite, helpful, and accommodating. * I forgot to add that my in-laws who were also staying at the hotel had their truck broken into the first night. read more

Trailer & RV dedicated parking (3 spots) is what moves this hotel to 5 stars. The property is a run of the mill Marriott Property - which means it's what we have come to expect from Marriott - clean, functional, and easy on the eyes. Mobile check in worked (I'm Marriott Platinum - so I tend to be a snob). Staff was very courteous & helpful. The chap in front of me didn't have a reservation, their was no room at the inn (and no adjacent stainless), so the front desk clerk called other hotels - located one with rooms, and printed out directions. When it was my turn, I was glad I made mobile reservations this morning & I got in. I'm glad someone mentioned the trailer parking, otherwise I would have passed this gem by. read more

My wife and I have been Marriott members for over 20+ years. We use Marriott hotels for most of our travels. Check in was pleasant and our stay was as expected. However, after breakfast we pulled the bedcovers off to help the maid staff, to our horror we found dried blood stains at the foot end of the bedding! Front desk was notified and they apologized. Not sure house keeping did their job. This carelessness in our society with blood borne pathogens is unacceptable. read more

Remember when Marriott had a standard? I am convinced I was staying at a best western that accidentally had a Marriott sign above it. Tub had drain stop pulled and resting on tub side. Faucet was dirty like it was never wiped clean. Pulled out the work desk and there were food crumbs and spills from drinks on it. Paint in the bathrooms were pealing. Soaps and lotions seemed mismatched. The extra bedding was on the floor in the closet, opened, and missing a blanket. Shower soap dispensers were no longer on the wall but balanced on the tub. My recommendation is to just stay at the Hampton Inn next door. read more

It's a nice hotel but fell short on cleanliness. The pillow case on one of the beds was blood stained, so we thought, up close you can see it's still on the pillow and there's a small clot. Under the table I found some lip gloss and in the freezer some delicious ice cream left from who knows when. So gross!! read more

I recently traveled to see family in Northern California and had a wonderful experience at Towneplace Suites. What made it even more exceptional was the fact I had a little hiccup in my day that became a positive. I like staying at places that have kitchenettes, and TownePlace fit my needs perfectly. I noticed the first time that I went to use the kitchen, there was a slight leak in the dishwasher. We called down to the front desk and Maintenance responded within 15 minutes. That's when I met Kim the maintenance supervisor. She was very efficient and was able to clean up the problem rather quickly. While I had her there, I took the time to ask her a bunch of questions about the area and she was kind enough to answer them. She was very knowledgeable and helpful and took a bad situation and made it better. I often go to Redding to see family and I can tell you that I will be back. Thank you to Kim and the staff for making my stay even better. read more

This is a nice and clean place to stay should you need to visit Redding. The rooms are large with amenities. The only negative are the products they leave you for showering. A super tiny shampoo and conditioner and 2 small soaps. No lotion, no showercap. If two of you need to shower then good luck. No even shower gel. We had to go to Target near by to get what we needed. Other than that this place is great. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet in the mornings with plenty of options for everyone. Front desk is welcoming and friendly. I also just want to send a shout out to the person manning the front desk one evening by the name of Benjamin. He was great and went way beyond the call of duty for something I needed in a pinch. I would have never bothered him had it not been so late but he totally came through and for that I really appreciate it. Central to everything in the small town of Redding. Because this was during the COVID-19 Pandemic, this might not be representative of what this hotel is like in "normal" times. Smart phones make travel so much easier While my daughter drove, I was able to research hotels. We needed a hotel with a kitchen; TownPlace Suites was the only place that seemed to satisfy our requirements. According to the website the hotel was almost sold out and I booked one of the few remaining rooms. Parking was a problem. We were traveling in a small RV; but, almost all of the RV parking spaces were filed with pickups that could have easily parked in a regular parking space. We found a half-filled RV spot in the back of the hotel and hauled our luggage around to the front of the hotel. We were immediately checked in. Based on the website pictures, the room was a bit more cramped than we expected; but, it had a functional kitchen which allowed us to prepare breakfast. It is sometimes hard to tell how old a hotel is; but, this one felt like it was close to needing a remodel. Everything seemed to be approaching the end of its like expectancy. On the other hand, it was quiet, comfortable, and reasonably priced for the amenities. If you need a kitchen during your travels, this is the place. If you do not need a kitchen, there are two other nearby hotels that I prefer. read more

Checked into our room, at first glance it appeared clean. I opened up the cupboard to get a bowl, the top bowl was dirty with grease and food. I then opened the drawer to use a fork. The top fork was filthy with grease, and rice stuck to it. My husband took both dirty items to the front desk. They apologized and said they would notify housekeeping in the morning. Later in the evening, I went into bathroom to shower. I found a huge pile of long black hair on the floor. It looked like it had been pulled off a dirty hair brush ( to give you an idea how much!) I then turned to the shower to turn water on only to find tons of hair all over the tile wall. At this point I was so grossed out I started inspecting closer only to find hair hanging on the toilet paper and and all over the bottom of the toilet. Decided to skip the shower, got dressed and walked to the front desk with the trash full of hair I had picked up off the floor. The gentleman at the front desk was nice enough and offered to try to find us another room but I said it was ok as we are just really tired from traveling all day and we were completely unpacked and just wanted to go to bed. I asked him to please make sure management is aware of the problem. Of course this makes you wonder if the floor and bathroom fixtures were cleaned at all. So upon inspecting the carpet, it did not show obvious dirt, but there was enough loose materials that it did not look like it was vacuumed. Next morning I check out and the front desk lady was sweet and nice. I asked her if the manager was aware of our filthy room. She said "oh, I was just getting ready to apologize for your bad experience and yes, the manager is aware." I said "OK" and left! I find it really hard to fathom after an experience so gross that management would not insist on speaking with me personally and trying to "make it right". Ridiculous!! We have been faithful Marriott supporters for years. I would expect something in return for that. I've posted a few pics of the hair. I'm frequently in Redding for work, and like to lodge at different properties to determine my favorites. TownePlace made the list! Upon arrival we were greeted by Carly, who quickly got us checked in, and shared additional information about the property, parking and breakfast times. We reserved a suite and while somewhat compact, TownePlace fit all the necessities in. The room had a couch, work station and kitchenette (with a near full sized fridge!). We slept peacefully, property is on a quiet street which was nice. Breakfast started at 5AM which was really nice. Breakfast choices: waffle station, coffee, water, juice stations, assortment of breads and pastries, sliced cheeses, yogurt/milk (including plant based options), oatmeal with fixins, boiled eggs, fried eggs, pork sausage, Canadian turkey bacon and fresh fruit. There's no ice dispenser in the dining area and the bananas were far to ripe to be on display (removed a star for th, it's just a no no). Will definitely lodge in future. read more

Bianey is the star of the show here, FTR I'm normally a Hilton guy, but this stay in Redding had me with my dogs and I elected to stay here. what a treat. Bianey really made this stay great, getting me in a first floor room and near the door where I wanted to be. Great easy access to the freeway and local food is a huge plus, I really liked the location as after work I could get the dogs out a quickly be onto some trails enjoying what Redding has to offer. In the lobby is a local happenings board and I found that to be great. The rooms are clean and well kept, breakfast has a good variety of treats to get your day going. Traveling for work and stayed here for two nights last week. Give this place a solid 3 stars for lack of amenities and 5 for customer service yielding a solid 4 stars. Overall hotel was the standard Marriott chain beds and furniture. Room had a full kitchen, with all appliances, etc. King bed room was of good size, small sofa and good size bathroom. The gym was ok, super empty while I was there, has a few cardio machines, and weight sets. Free daily buffet breakfast, great service, nice variety. Two TVs one playing Fox News and second playing CNN so everyone was happy.. lol Food wise, hotel has no restaurant or bar (hence 3 stars), only serves bfast. They do have a "market" Area with cold beverages, shanks. There are a few restaurants blocks away. Nothing worth mentioning. I'd stay here again, primarily for the good service, and location. read more

Being a Marriott Bonvoy member I had no idea there are nice hotels like this in Redding . This is a nice place to rest and relax before I drive up to Portland. Good thing it's near the freeway. You can also stay here before you head over to the Shasta national park area. I love the little kitchen area that the rooms come with. It harkens back to the days when I stay in a Marriott hotel for Coachella. Except this is a lot nicer than all the ones that are South of Redding all the way to the Coachella Valley. It's cleaner than the ones I've been to. Now with the pandemic slowing way down this is a welcome sight. Normally in upstate California or Tahoe it's Days Inn country but this place meets my expectations 1000%. It's not your average pit stop/business/recreational hotel but a treasure. The pool meets my expectations too. It's the perfect size for a hot day soaking. Staff here is nice and friendly. Even with a one night stay you can grab a breakfast bite and go. I'd return here iff I got the chance. read more

This place literally destroyed the competition. I had reservations at the Hampton next door. When I arrived there was no room. After spending 20 minutes on the phone making the reservation, when I arrived at 8:30pm with two kids and totally exhausted, they said there was nothing they could do. I asked them to call the closest hotel. And we were greeted at this hotel with warm cookies, super helpful staff, a huge room with kitchen, and a much better rate than the Hampton. The kitchen is stocked with real plates, forks and glasses. And windows that open. I've stayed at that Hampton for years. Out of laziness. But they just lost a customer to this awesome hotel. We also ordered pizza to be delivered to our room, and it was nice to have real silverware. Breakfast was WAY better. Good coffee, waffles, hot entry options, delicious pastries and friendly servers keep the area and tables clean. Advice: don't stay anywhere but here in Redding. read more

This hotel is rated higher than I would expect. We stayed there recently and figured we might stay again if we were comfortable. The room was mediocre, but it was the service that was awful. Note: we stayed right at the height of the pandemic (omicron variant) and masks were required indoors. At the very least, I'd think a front desk employee would comply with the state regulations that might make guests feel comfortable. Not only did the employee remove her mask, but she had an unmasked male visitor who impeded her providing any customer service. I felt like I was interrupting their date (he was hanging out at the front desk for an extended time) if I had any requests-something that was totally unprofessional. I contacted Marriott to follow up but they actually never did respond so I guess they condone both not following local mandates as well as having ones boyfriend(?) in for the evening to keep the front desk attendant company? Either way, Marriott properties sunk to a new low in this visit and we'll be burning our accumulated bonvoy points from over the years and then staying in hotels where they actually respect their guests and take feedback seriously. read more

The room itself was clean, the staff were very friendly, available parking at all times and they had an outdoor pool that looked clean and taken care of. I left off a star because I felt the breakfast was very disappointing. Because of Covid only yogurt, cereal, and muffins were available. But, I feel like they could offer a better selection. The customer service at this Marriott is excellent. A last minute stay and they had a room for me. They guest service agent greeted me, offer me snack from store and told me about breakfast hours. When I told her I was looking to eat a burger she was really fast in recommending a local spot that she loved. The best part about it was the spot was spot on. The room is pretty standard but for having great service is always a plus in my book. Bonus is there is no charge for parking. Fire place was working outside. read more

My husband and recently stayed at TownePlace Suites in Redding, CA. The front desk staff during our stay was very nice and helpful. However four hours after checking out, I realize that I left two of my dresses in the closet. I called the hotel and the front desk clerk informed me that she didn't have keys to check if my dresses were in the lost and found. She explained that when housekeeping find items in the room, they tag them and put them in the lost and found. She asked me to call back the next morning around 9am. I called around 10 minutes after 9am and Kim, the front desk clerk informed that housekeeping had not started yet and asked for my phone number to call me back. It was 10am and had not received a return call from her. When I called back, she told me that the dresses were not found. I know it was my fault for not double checking the closet in the bathroom before leaving, but it's a SHAME to steal someone else's items. There's no way my dresses could have been overlooked by housekeeping when they cleaned the room to prepare for new guests because they needed to replace the laundry bag in the same closet where my dresses were hanging. it's unfortunate that you have untrustworthy staff working for your organization and this incident has left a very bad taste in my mouth. Great little hotel, great customer service, great room (pictures posted). My only complaint is that my king sized bed was not as plush as it looked. I couldn't sleep on that hard mattress another night. read more
