I stayed here in lieu of other hotels in the area since I would be attending a wedding in Redding. Needless to say, Yelp did not steer me wrong again! I was so happy with my bed and breakfast experience that I definitely will trust my fellow reviewers in the future. First, Janelle was super accommodating and let me check in early because I would be attending the wedding and needed to get ready. She followed up with me on text message as to my arrival time to make sure that she would be there to greet me. When I walked in, I noticed my phone number was coded to the key pad entrance to the B&B. So cool! Janelle was there to greet me and give me an envelope with my key and instructions. I went up with her to the bedroom and needless to say, was so impressed with her style and quality that she brings to her B&B. The room seemed to be flawless in the way that she spent time picking out pictures and linens. The linens were even washed in a very nice fabric softener and didn't have that normal "hotel" smell. I was able to get the Sun Dial Room, and even though it was the most expensive, it was definitely worth every penny. There was a fresh, large bottle of water in the room with chocolates. I had free wifi and a nice flat screen TV. A jacuzzi tub. And oh, did I mention.. the best, most comfortable bed that I never wanted to leave? Top it off.. breakfast in the morning makes me giddy just thinking about it. I had french toast, a vegetable frittata, potatoes, chicken/apple sausage, fresh juice and coffee. Janelle served breakfast promptly at 8:30 and I was definitely there with bells on. Everything was served family style and while eating breakfast you are able to enjoy the company of other guests, which makes breakfast that much more entertaining. For a few bucks more, stay at this bed and breakfast. Completely avoid the Howard Johnson or other chain hotel. You will not be disappointed. read more

Bridgehouse offers beautifully appointed bedrooms, stocked with pillows and comforters which assure a wonderful night's sleep. Janelle and Kendall start your day with a hearty breakfast that always includes a homemade wonder such as cinnamon scones. There is a lovely living room with comfy sofas so you never feel confined to your room and the backyard has areas where you can sit and relax and enjoy being outdoors. The ambience is terrific, but the truly priceless aspect of staying at Bridgehouse is the amazing couple who run it. My family stayed here during an extremely stressful time. My husband was visiting my son and had a stroke. He had been staying at Bridgehouse. My daughter and I stayed at Bridgehouse waiting for him to be cleared to travel back to our home in Chicago. Janelle and Kendall offered love and comfort and support to us. At a time when we were forced to grab hospital snacks during the day, the hearty breakfast and company of other visitors strengthened us for each challenging day. Their hugs and encouragement made us feel that we were not alone. I LOVE this b&b. I haven't been back up there in over a year, but I just felt the need to yelp it. The rooms are amazing and so unlike the typical bed & breakfast, which is to be honest creepy. I don't want an antique doll staring at me from the dresser across the room. Call me paranoid or anti-Stephen King. All the rooms have a very great modern feel, but the only way to describe this place is comfortable. It feels the way you'd want your own home to feel - warm, welcoming and well decorated. Janelle's scones are delicious and her strata (a sausage, egg, bread, cheese casserole dish) is amazing. You'll be incredible lucky if she decides to make strata the morning after what should be a delightful nights sleep. I'm not sure when I'll be back in Redding again, but when I do make the trip, I know exactly where to go. We stayed here with our friends during our wedding weekend. Having the whole place to ourselves was great. The rooms are spacious and have amazing bathrooms and beds (two key components of a good B&B). Our room had a view of the river and the train trestle.The decor is generally modern and not too country chic as some bed & breakfasts can be; though I would spare the country music memorabilia in the common areas if it were my choice. Breakfast exceeded my expectations as well--fresh fruit, good muffins, eggs, bread pudding, Pete's coffee, etc, etc. I'd highly recommend Bridgehouse and wish I could justify staying here more often! read more

I called on a Wednesday for a Saturday reservation. We had planned to drive from Seattle to Redding so that we could arrive that evening, settle into our room and then head out to get some eats. Realizing that we would be arriving later than the normal check-in times Janelle told us how to get in (She's got a great setup for accommodating late arrivals!). Well...we didn't get out of Seattle until 5pm, arriving @ the Bridgehouse at 2:15am. The late arrival system was great, we got into our room and crashed. Breakfast was to be served @ 8:30 but I didn't get up til nearly 9 and hurried out to the dining room. Janelle had a fabulous Belgian Waffle 'Foster' ready for me in moments. It was delicious, a waffle with bananas that had been briefly cooked in maple syrup. This was accompanied by some fresh fruit and made for a really nice breakfast. My wife and I started talking to Janelle about her place and she gave us a full tour. The decor is contemporary but still very comfortable. I'd call it 'Professional Cozy'. The whole house felt like I could easily live there (unlike many other B&Bs I've been to which are kitschy and tacky). The bed was great and the linens were fabulous being 500 thread count. Each room is themed on the various bridges which span the Sacramento River in Redding. The house itself overlooks the Sacramento River (right where they divert part of the flow to an irrigation canal which I found fascinating). It's also a short walk from parks and the Sundial Bridge which is quite cool. Overall, we loved the Bridgehouse B&B and if ever traveling through Redding we would definitely stay again. The accommodations are great and the hospitality is fantastic. Give Janelle a call! read more

Janelle's B&B was so nice. The whole house is really well decorated. We stayed in the Sundial Room, and it was luxurious. We had a bath tub with jets, a nice view, a flatscreen TV, and a bed that I didn't want to leave. We even made use of the living room by reading by the fire. The breakfast was also very nice. Buffet-style waffles, fruit, eggs, and sausage. She also has code system for the door, so we could check-in on our own schedule. Even the other patrons were pleasant. One downside: price. I don't stay in B&Bs often, so I don't know the going rate, but it seemed steep. read more

WOW!!! What a beautiful homes these are!! (There are two) The hubby and I stayed at the Bridgehouse, Diestelhorst room. The tub was soooo relaxing and both of us fit it in perfectly. We were so impressed!! In addition, Janelle was awesome with her communication and her daughter in law made a wonderful breakfast in the morning. She was also kind enough to show us their other b&b home next door, called The Puente. We were floored at how gorgeous this home was. It had such uplifting characteristics. It is apparent that the owners have poured their heart and soul into these homes, and you can feel it. The California room was so beautiful!! We are looking forward to staying here again!! read more

I'm a business traveler and discovered Janelle's bed-and-breakfast over a year ago when the Hilton was sold out. I was so pleased with my experience that I come back to Bridgehouse bed and breakfast every time I'm in Redding now. This is one of my favorite places to stay in all of my many travels and makes my time away from home so much more pleasant. I'm not a huge fan of the typical antique-Victorian-style B&B, and was pleasantly surprised at the modern, well-styled decor. I enjoy the soft sheets, very comfortable beds, and nice touches like Mount Shasta spring water and a snack in the room on arrival (chocolates or a granola bar). Check in couldn't be any easier. I usually text Janelle on the day I want to stay, and she responds within minutes. The code entry system is a great feature, so I can check in independently and arrive late if needed. I'm a vegan, and Janelle has always done a great job of accommodating me for breakfast and always has alternative milk on hand. I was hesitant about having to talk with strangers in the morning at breakfast, but this has become something that I look forward to. I've met such nice people, and have also enjoyed getting to know Janelle who is wonderful. I love hearing about the musicians she follows (or has as guests), and her passion for the Redding community. The B&B is within walking distance to the Sacramento River trail. As a Redding newbie, I had no idea how beautiful this town could be. The drawbridge and trail is stunning! I also have jogged to SunDial bridge, which is fun to see. I've enjoyed all the rooms I've stayed in, but Sun Dial, Riverside Bridge, and California Street are my favorites. Patio and balconies are beautiful. Easily the best place in town to stay, and I look forward to my trips to Redding now. read more

Wow, what a great place. Janeelle is a great cook and a wonderful hostess. We were only able to stay one night, but it was great. She invited us to see a band playing locally. What a magnificent gem in Redding! My girlfriend and I came into town and last-minute had to find a nice place to set up base camp for a few days when our housing situation fell through. We surprised Janelle and came in without a reservation or any advance notice and not only did she welcome us in, but she put us in the best room available after showing us the options. The bed was extraordinarily comfortable (my girlfriend swore that she was going to nuzzle into the sheets until she "become one with" them), the shower was spacious and had great water pressure, even the soap and shampoo was nice! Janelle clearly put a lot of thought and work into the place and it shows. So that's the "bed" part of "B&B". Let's talk about the "breakfast". The food was magnificent. When's the last time you had a three-course breakfast? Each morning started out with a bowl of fruit, granola, and yogurt, followed by a main course. One day there were pancakes, eggs, and bacon, one day there was (what seemed like) homemade sausage and gourmet omelettes, and one day we left too early (to climb Castle Crags, just 45 minutes north on I-5) to have breakfast, so we left a note (which Janelle later said was no problem). Oh yeah, and then there was desert (the last day it was in the form of the best, made-from-scratch scones I've ever had ANYWHERE). I would (and probably will) stay at Bridgehouse again when I come back to Redding. Having been fortunate enough to have stayed in hostels and B&Bs all over the world, I think Bridgehouse competes in my Top 3. read more

Perfectly lovely. We were visiting Redding to enjoy 4th of July fireworks with family in the park. We always try out B&Bs rather than hotels whenever possible. I was so glad we were able to book for just one night and enjoy this great spot. Breakfast and coffee were great, the place was very clean and fresh; and the decor, patio and overall ambience pleasant. We will definitely be back for any future visits to the area! Woohoo, yes, as good as it gets. Starting with greeting by Janelle, Bridgehouse owner and designer. 9.5 years she has been in biz and this is a remarkable place from minute to minute. Everything looks brand new. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished. An easy walk to downtown. We stayed in the Suite 1, Prince Street. Queen bed, beautifully tiled bathroom and shower, and a house with lots of room to lounge. The garden is enclosed by a tall fence, with many choices for seating, a barbecue, fireplace and covered area. Coffee maker available 24/7 and snacks too. Breakfast was discussed upon arrival, freshly made scones. OJ, Coffee and Torte. She does it all and with an excellence. My only regret is we have only one night to be here. A bit hesitant to let everyone know but Bridgehouse Bed & Breakfast was wonderful! It was impeccably clean, friendly, and beautifully decorated. This was our first visit and it made us eager to return to Redding to visit just a bit longer. So glad we decided to spring for just a few more dollars from the average hotel room in order to truly enjoy our 4th of July visit to family and the Sun Dial bridge fireworks display (which was also fantastic by the way). We were able to walk to the Civic Center using the Riverwalk just a couple blocks away. The Sun Dial was about a 20 minute walk from the B&B. The immediate neighborhood isn't anything to write home about but downtown eateries are just about a 3-4 block walk. We stayed in the Dog Creek Room which was lovely. I had originally tried to book a larger room and much to my delight this room was plenty large and so pretty. Very peaceful. Our room was quiet and the other guests (some repeat guests) were great to visit with over the yummy breakfast Janelle had graciously prepared. I love it when we discover a gem! (I was glad that I was actually able to give this owner a great review since she shared my first name. Not THAT common!) read more

My boyfriend and I were in town for the Robert Cray Band concert on 2/9 at the beautiful Cascade Theatre and staying at the Bridgehouse Bed & Breakfast. The house is BEAUTIFUL, the courtyard was fabulous (even though it was rainy and cold) and the host, Janelle was absolutely awesome! Janelle was friendly, attentive, knowledgable about the downtown area and really made us feel welcome! She offered us some great suggestions on restaurants and things to see while we were in town. The room and private bathroom were more that adequate and the dual head shower was a dream come true. My only wish would have been a bathtub, especially after the long drive and harrowing escape through Ashland. Breakfast was delicious and you could tell that Janelle really enjoys what she does. It was also fun interacting with the other guests and hearing what brought them to town. I can't wait to go back to Bridgehouse B & B during the spring so that we can enjoy the fabulous courtyard. Bridgehouse Bed & Breakfast is such a slice of paradise...we didn't want to leave! Janelle owns two properties next door to each other. We stayed in the Riverside Room, and it was stunning! Perfect soft sheets on a gorgeous bed. Impeccable furnishings and designer touches throughout the room. Amazing bathroom with a relaxing tub. Beautiful deck to enjoy the evenings. The B&B literally left us wanting for nothing. I heavily research hotels/inns/b&b's before a stay...and am always looking for the next best stop. This happened to be business travel, yet I'm dying to get back to Redding to stay and just enjoy her property without the interruption of work. Breakfast was heavenly. We just got back to SF after a 3 night stay and are completely rested and relaxed! Janelle offers a cozy and comfortable experience - the bed was amazing (i am a snob) and the breakfast scones were out of this world. It has a very calm and friendly vibe with zero pressure to be social. However...the smell of breakfast in the morning will probably get you up out of bed to share eats with other super nice travelers. Having only stayed in hotels prior to this trip, took a chance on this place thanks to previous yelp ratings. What a wonderful experience. The house is beautiful, well appointed, comfortable, private and communal at the same time. The decor is timeless and the bedding is wonderful. The breakfast exceeded our expectations in taste, freshness, quality, and quantity. A perfect cottage meal, hearty and yet, refined. A true delight. One of the star attractions is the shower in the Doghouse room. We have never experienced the luxury of such a monster enclosure, drained only by the floor and surrounded by beautiful tile. The owner told us she had to create a bathroom for each suite. A veritable gift for the senses! Highly recommend this place, and we stayed on the way up AND the return from our destination. My daughter and I spent a night in one of the smaller rooms and it was more than adequate. The bed and breakfast is decorated beautifully. Check-in was easy and the key entry to the house and room is part of your phone number so it's easy to remember.
