We have stayed with Kris and David (and their adorable little senior dog, Cork) four times over the last few years. We make it a point to stay at Mt Shasta Ranch when we drive to the Bay Area from Seattle. Each and every time we have been warmly welcomed with fresh homemade cookies, coffee and tea, as well as wine in the afternoon. They are kind, hardworking people living their dream of offering a top notch bed and breakfast in their lovely home. I especially enjoy sundown on the front veranda with blankets, our beverage of choice, a wonderful view of Mount Shasta and the beautiful countryside. The mansion, built in 1923, is well kept and spotless. There is a large dining room with a billiard table and many windows where one can read and watch finches and other birds at the bird feeders. There's also a cozy living room with a fireplace and a lovely wood fire when it is chilly outside. Each time they have offered our choice of rooms when available and been treated like family. The bedrooms, each one tastefully decorated with antiques, feature comfortable beds and thoughtfully curated amenities. There are two separate lodges for families behind the house itself. I also appreciated seeing a pair of horses in the pasture next door. Kris and David are always happy to recommend local restaurants, hikes and other activities. But most of all the this B&B is a quiet and peaceful respite. I know they also host various groups for retreats. We have especially enjoyed meeting other guests at the Mt Shasta Ranch as well. Lastly, a highlight of our stay is Kris's gourmet breakfasts, delicious and varied, served by David who is charming and accommodating. This place is an absolute gem. We stay at Mount Shasta Ranch bed and breakfast for our 40th wedding anniversary. The Ranch was lovely and very clean. We stayed in a room upstairs with private bath. In the evening we open windows which cooled down nicely to sleep. The bathroom was quite large and inviting and had both shower and separate tub. Enjoyed sitting on the veranda sipping coffee in the morning enjoying the view of Mt Shasta. The breakfast was superb. Freshly made and served and yes I said served by David, not a buffet style like some other B&Bs. If I could give more stars I would. We will be back again! read more

Absolutely, dreadfully dissatisfied. Please do not spend your money here. I urge you to find another place to stay. I am normally not one for posting negative reviews but here it goes... I was the bride of a recent wedding at The Ranch. My mom and I met with Chris and David many times before the big day to nail down details with them. They were decently pleasant to deal with. However, Chris was very judgmental when I stated, multiple times, that my fiancé and I were staying at another location the night before our wedding and the night of. She asked me about 5 times and each time I felt extremely judged, it was our choice we made together. It just got worse and worse from there. Chris, the wife and owner, the very first conversation we had was her bellowing at me because I was using the main bathroom in the lodge. That bathroom was for "guests only and I was not to use them". I informed her that I was the bride and she acted incredibly fake after that. I was the bride, my family paid to use the venue and I felt extremely disrespected. From there, I was afraid of how she was going to treat my guests. Her husband, David, put his hands on my dad when they were trying to discuss an issue with the parking. There is not enough parking for a wedding so I tried to make arrangements to have guests park next door, as instructed by Chris, but the property switched ownership in the middle of it. To say they were less than helpful during an already stressful time is an understatement. My mother in law let me know that when she called to book the rooms and to check in, Chris, had a terrible attitude and she had a bad taste in her mouth from the whole interaction. They let us in early so we could set up, but once they started picking at us. They wouldn't stop. They refused to turn off the sprinklers for their precious lawn stating that "it would turn brown overnight". False. They just wanted to put a wrench in our plan. David, was less than understanding and an absolute hindrance the whole way. Once the wedding was over, they again turned the sprinklers on and everything was wet when we were trying to get out. I am not even mentioning the endless attitude they gave my wedding coordinator and catering staff. I am actually an event coordinator, my mother is a well known caterer and we both have never interacted with venue owners quite like this before. I strongly believe they called for a DUI checkpoint to sit right out front of our wedding, however I cannot confirm. I could go on and on and on. I have many more examples of bad interactions that I heard from my guests. It felt truly embarrassing that we chose this place. I truly have not interacted with quite such wicked and truly evil spirited individuals before. They were actually the only stressful part on my wedding day. I truly wanted it to go so differently, however, they were absolutely unreasonable and I would hate to see anyone spend their money to stay here or have their special day here. The venue is absolutely stunning and it breaks my heart that these disgusting individuals own such a beautiful place. With joy, I say that our wedding was absolutely gorgeous and everything we dreamed of despite these awful people doing their best to ruin it. Again, absolutely evil and malicious. Do not give these people a penny or an ounce of your time. read more

On a recent trip to visit my family, my wife and I decided to try the Mt. Shasta Ranch. I grew up in the area and have always wanted to stay at the Bed and Breakfast. We have to say it was amazing. David and Kris treated us to a very memorable experience. From the time we booked the room till the time we left for home we felt very welcomed. We loved every minute of our time there. The rooms were very charming and super clean. Davids knowledge of the property and its history was very informative. Kris was super helpful from reserving the room to the wonderful breakfast we enjoyed each morning. When we head to visit our family again the Mt. Shasta Ranch will be our go to spot for a warm and welcome place to stay. We spent another full week at Mt. Shasta Ranch. David and Kris welcomed us back and treated us like VIP's. Since our last visit, they have renovated the carriage house rooms and were in the middle of renovating the 2 bedroom cottage. Kris let me take a peek at all of the changes and it is stunning. All new furniture, paint, wall paper, linens, quilts. I cannot wait to see how the cottage turns out. The breakfast every morning was as amazing as usual - delicious and very filling. Extremely impressed by this cute B&B. First off, Kris and David are so sweet and inviting, it really does feel like you're staying with friends & family. The house is historic and adorable as well. There is a lot of outdoor seating, and when the air quality is better, you can see Mt Shasta right from the porch. Sadly we're visiting during fire season, but we did see the outline of Mt Shasta! We booked a room with an ensuite bathroom, and it was very clean and updated. Also, there was AC which we were thankful for as it's summer and Fire season. On to the best and most impressive part of our stay, THE FOOD. I am a home cook and a Yelp foodie, and so I have high standards. We had egg soufflé the first morning and Italian baked eggs the second. Both were so so good! The pastries were also to die for. The raspberry bars and blackberry (fresh picked by Kris) turnover were fantastic, so we asked to take one on our excursion. David also told us where to go, which was very kind as we had to adjust our plans related to the air quality. Pluto's Cave, McCloud Falls, and Burney falls were great! LOVE this place and space! I've stayed here 4 times over the years and my last visit was 4 nights/5 days with 7 other friends. Kris has coffee ready at 7am and her breakfasts are delicious - fresh fruit, egg dishes, and a muffin/coffee cake for dessert. Mount Shasta Ranch is our go-to place when we need to get away. The proprietors are an amazing couple whose love of this grand house is evident. Each room is meticulously decorated with beautiful antiques to match the decor throughout. Kris is a phenomenal cook and her cookies and pastries are beyond compare. David assures that everyone's needs are met. They are a charming couple that feel like family by the time you check out. The grounds are extraordinary! The huge porch looks out onto the front tiered landscape. The porch is lined with flying flags, a special attraction that gives one pause to both past and future. It's our favorite place to read or simply enjoy the incredible view, and make new friends. Or enjoy the double swing! We have also found the location to be easily accessible to various day trips, but we're always happy to end the day back at 'the ranch'. The rooms are well appointed, clean, beds are comfortable, WiFi is solid, bathroom is clean and the water is as fresh as it gets. Breakfast: Simply calling it a breakfast is to do Kris and the culinary experience, injustice. It's a 3-course gourmet affair that is a blend of fine dining and comfort food. What makes it special is that Kris and David cater the breakfast to your dietary preference, whether you are keto, vegan, gluten-free, allergic to everything, or all that and more. We experienced the 3-course breakfast across the 3 days of the labor day weekend, and I am happy to recall, fondly, that the breakfast was dangerously delicious, every single time. I do not know how Kris managed to cater to so many discerning guests and their preferences, but somehow she managed to create culinary magic for each one of us (we spoke to other guests who were in awe of the experience). Sitting outside, in near perfect weather, watching the magnificent mountains, sipping some hot coffee and orange juice, and eating such delicacies as poached pear, chia pudding, handpicked blackberries from the garden, potato wedges baked to perfection that dance with caramelized garlic and mushrooms to create that crisp umami texture and flavor, decadent pastries that feel closer to Paris than America, chickpea potato and kale bowls with toasted sour dough bread, You can tell that Kris does not compromise, and uses simple but fresh ingredients, in inventive ways, to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary. There's decent coffee and tea with a variety of dairy and non dairy creamers. There's always sangria, white and red wine in the refrigerator, that go so well with the delectable cookies that Kris bakes every day. Chocolate chip, say no more! Location: It doesn't get better than this. You are 2 minutes from downtown, and being on the other side of the highway, you get the peace and quiet that lets you enjoy nature at its purest. There's ample parking, we even saw someone park their boat. Entertainment: Sure you have your TV in your room, and Wifi to power your streaming desires, however the main house has a games room, with a ping pong and pool tables, and over 25 board games. While Kris feeds your soul, David helps you get the best out of this magical place. He helps you plan your day to cater to your needs. We wanted to hike and experience the outdoors, and he made us an itinerary that saved us many hours of planning. And he even recommended places where locals love to eat. From hikes to lakes to falls, we packed in a lot of adventure in 3 days. If you are craving a magical experience a couple hours drive outside of the bay area, Mount Shasta Ranch is the place to feed your soul. We can't wait to plan our next trip in winter. We stayed two nights at the Mount Shasta Ranch Bed and Breakfast. We ended up there because no rooms were available at our first choice. We ended up being very pleased to have discovered this business. Our room was very large and the bathroom was old-fashioned but huge. The room had a couple of comfortable chairs and a comfortable sofa (great for napping.) There was a TV in the room which we never turned on. Breakfasts were fabulous. On checking in they asked us if we had any allergies or other food problems. They prepared special dishes for those who could not eat the prepared items. One morning they prepared fresh blueberry pancakes for one gentleman who could not eat eggs. In the afternoons and evenings there is a fresh baked cake for snacking on and wine and tea. One problem with staying in the Mount Shasta area is the noise of all the trains passing through. The Mount Shasta Ranch has double-paned windows which eliminated the train noise. We plan to return to the Mount Shasta Ranch as it was a very pleasant place to stay at a very reasonable price for the area. read more

This is the first time that we have stayed here for a few years, mainly because we acquired a GSD a little over six years ago. We stayed here several times prior to that, and the service and hospitality with which we were greeted was top notch. We only recently became aware that this B&B is now pet-friendly, so we decided to stay here again during this particular visit to the Mount Shasta area. We also know the original and current owner, Bill Larsen, because he sold to us in 2007 our 11-acre or so lot that is located NW of Weed, which has a gorgeous and never-ending view of Mount Shasta. Anyway, the B&B was hosting a 50th wedding anniversary party on the evening that we arrived, and we had no issues with that. Our on-leash dog was very friendly to the guests. (I enjoyed the 50th wedding anniversary party that I arranged for my parents back in 2011.) The room is definitely old-fashioned, but comfortable. The breakfast that was served to us in the morning was incredible. Of course, we will be back. read more

David loves giving the history of their property and answer how ever many questions you have (I had a lot). Both struck me as people I would want to have over for a dinner party! The ranch is perfectly nestled in the private shade of Shasta - and yet close to "civilization" ("Main Street USA"). We stayed 2 days, skied/rode at Shasta, hanged out by the fire place (actual wood-fire) and a piano, finished some work. A bed and breakfast inn inside a rustic Victorian era ranch house. The owner kept the house as close to the original architecture as possible with period pieces and modern amenities (wifi, LED lighting, and USB outlets. The living room has a fantastic fireplace that's welcoming and, of course, warm. The veranda/porch is amazing with lots of comfortable chairs facing Mt Shasta. The rooms are spacious with great views of Mt Shasta. Book early to get the best views. The breakfast is hearty, fruit pudding, European eggs, toast, and a scone. More than plenty for me. The best part is the service and care by the owners Dave and Chris. You feel like you're in a friends home and not in a hotel room. Came to experience Mount Shasta's Vortex energy and vibe, my stay at this Bed and Breakfast was the highlight. Very warm,inviting, and relaxing environment that made me feel like I was at home. Overall a very charming place with so many luxurious at home amenities at very reasonable rates. I loved the genuine hospitality and feelings of being cared for. I personally value that a hundred times more than an immaculately clean space! I loved the relaxed vibe and feeling that I could relax- important! This ranch, which I have enjoyed staying at for years, has new owners David and Kris. Last night the husband, David, assaulted me. Yes, that's right, assaulted me! I couldn't believe it. I called the police who came and stayed to protect us as we packed up to leave. I filed charges. This was over the top! We had made some complaints but there was no argument going on. This man has impulse control problems. If you should want to stay there please, please be careful of making complaints or angering with this guy. We just made complaints. Who knows what he might do if someone actually argued with him. The back story was that we had come to stay the night before. When I went to the room we were going to stay in, it had some sort of perfume odor that bothered my breathing so I asked Kris if we could stay in a different room. She came upstairs and smelled our room and said "I don't smell anything, only your dog, but you can stay in the other room if you want". I felt like I was being treated like a crazy woman and complainer. It was weird and insulting but I let it go. The next morning I went down to breakfast in the main house and was told I would have to eat outside at the picnic table and could not sit inside as we have a dog and the dog is not permitted in the eating area. I said that was fine we would keep the dog in the room while we ate. They then said that was not allowed and also we could not tie the dog up outside while we ate, and they would not give us any money return for not having their breakfast. I complained that they said they were dog friendly and did not tell us these rules in advance. I did not want to sit on an uncomfortable bench in the hot sun. It was very tense after I complained. They did not like me complaining and were really bad vibing us. That left both my husband and I distressed all day, not enjoying our trip and dreading staying another night, but these people are not the type to refund money. They charged $192 per night for a room with a bathroom shared between 6 room. It seemed a lot. So we stayed and came back in the evening and sat on the front porch and read a book with our dog on a leash with us. A women came up on the porch with a dog. Our dog barked and got loose and ran up to her dog barking, not biting but, barking. I got my dog and apoligised but the woman was upset. Understandable. However a while later both owners came out and were very rude to us about our dog, even hostile. I agreed to keep our dog on lease but that did not seem enough for them. They did not offer a refund or ask us to leave. My husband said we will not be coming to breakfast in the morning and will not stay here again. Then David, the owner grabbed my husband by the head and put his face 6 inches from my husband and angrily said well we don't want you here. Your not welcome. My husband told him to take his hands off of him and that he had no right to touch him. The owner David then went inside. I got up and I went in the front door to go to our room. My husband was behind me when David ran up to me and grabbed me hard by the arm and neck and pushed me with all his weight towards the door. My husband had not entered as yet. David yelled at me "Your not welcome here" as he grabbed and pushed. Our things were in our room. I was shocked. I was just walking to my room. I called the police as stated above and we left. This guy never offered money back until the police told him he should. This was a traumatic experience. We stay at may places and have all 5 star ratings as guests at Vibro and Airbnb places. This was terrifying and way off the charts. Stay here at your own risk. I think this man is dangerous. read more

Kris and David are the most lovely hosts. They made us feel so welcome and at home. Even their adorable dog Cork, is happy to greet you. The rooms and grounds are very nicely appointed and embrace the historic feeling of the place. Upon arrival, they welcome you with a glass of wine or sangria (and fresh baked cookies) to enjoy on the veranda with the beautiful view of Mt Shasta. The three course breakfast is delicious. Kris bakes some scrumptious treats. I would highly recommend staying here. It's also a great value. We met other lovely guests staying there. We arrived as strangers and left as friends. I've stayed here over the last 20 years or longer, and while I do miss the original owners, (and have seen some innkeepers come and go since), I have to say I really like the new owners that recently took over a few weeks ago! This place has been my home away from home over the years when I visit family in the area! It's warm and comforting, clean and cozy, and beautiful! And bonus they are still dog friendly! I love this bed and breakfast, it's in a great location just half a mile from the town where you can go to shops and get good food. Also, they cook you breakfast here and it's amazing. The owners, Kris and David, are really sweet and accommodating to my vegan diet when it comes to breakfast!! I haven't been to a hotel/b&b that's ever done that for me... It's very quaint here but that's the point of making it seem as historical as it is. I love the atmosphere and how beautiful everything is, I'm surrounded by lush trees, lakes, hikes, and you can even see the gorgeous Mountain!! I'm staying an extra day extending my trip, and already booked my next trip here and I am SO excited to come back!! If you're in Mount Shasta call and book here.. you won't regret it read more

I am over the moon about Mount Shasta Ranch Bed and Breakfast!! The new owners Kris & David go above and beyond in making you feel like family in their warm and inviting B&B. The rooms are clean and spacious and beautifully decorated with antiques and period pieces. It is incredibly charming and truly gives you the feel of an authentic 1920's Inn. The food was exquisite. I could write an entire paragraph on Kris' heavenly breakfast! Fresh cut fruit, homemade blueberry chia pudding and plenty of eggs with bacon and sausage. And of course endless coffee and an assortment of tea and juice. One more bite would've rendered me useless for the day which you wouldn't want as the town of Mt. Shasta is simply enchanting. There is of course the majestic Mt. Shasta itself which is perfectly visible from the B&B. But just minutes away you'll find yourself immersed in small town charm with plenty of fascinating specialty shops. Just outside of town is breathtaking Lake Siskiyou and some of the best hiking I've ever experienced. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more
