    not grandmas house?

If your under the age of 65 you have NO business here. We were last min and looking for a place to stay on our way back up from CA to WA. The photos looked decent enough so we booked it sight unseen. We get there and the hilarious horror show began. The whole place smells of old hoarder cat lady. The place is FILLED to the brim of trinkets and dolls. Just imagine your 80 year old grandmothers house and you get the picture. Our PINK room actually jingled with every step we took. You felt like you had to whisper the whole time you were there because the walls were so paper thin.. So FORGET about having sex in this place. We woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking..... AT 11PM!!! So were thinking, oh ok these people just like their breakfast for dinner... NOPE they were making our breakfast the night before!!! We woke up and tip toed down stairs to a doily ridden breakfast table that looked of something from Alice in wonderland if the mad hatter was an 80 year old cat lady. Our first "course" was a fruit cup in a dish. Not a fresh cup a fruit, but fruit, from a can. Mine had a hair in it (gross). I pushed it aside and waited for our waffles, bacon and eggs... Which was made the previous night!!! The waffle was gritty soft bland and gross. The eggs were EASILY the worst eggs i've ever had in my life, i would compare them to a wet gummy bear. The strawberries and whip were most likely the only thing eatable on the plate my g/f and i scooted our food around to pretend like we ate some of it and b-lined it to the door. We sat in our car laughing in horror and couldnt stop talking about this place. I would give this place a perfect star rating simply because im sure i'll be telling this story for YEARS to come. But honestly whole heartedly if you're under the age of 65 just keep driving until you get to portland!

We made a quick stop in Mt. Shasta on the homeward leg of long road trip. I chose the town of Mt. Shasta because of it's location, and ended up booking a room at the Dream Inn when another B&B was full. We approached our stay with average expectation and were pleasantly surprised. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The lack of a TV seemed odd, but I don't consider that a flaw. To save a little money, we opted for one of the upstairs bedrooms that shared a common bathroom, and that worked just fine for us. I found the general decor to be very B&B frilly; not how I'd decorate my home, but nice enough in context. The two inn keepers are a pair of business partners. David greeted us and got us settled into our room. He's was very chatty and warm. We had a common interest in gardening, so we had plenty to talk about. I'm not sure I ever caught the name of the lady inn keeper. I spoke with her on the phone a couple times, and she seemed a bit abrupt. In person she was polite and a bit reserved, but kind as she served us breakfast in the morning. Once we started chatting about some favorite plants in the garden, she opened up a bit. We were only there one night, so I can't attest to all their breakfast menu, but our breakfast tostatas were very good. Lots of veggies, cheese, eggs, and beans over a toasted flour tortilla. We also had fruit, juice and coffee. I thought the coffee was a little weak, but I've had worse in fancier places. The grounds surrounding the Inn are a very well kept garden, full of bright flowers and birds. I highly recommend taking your morning coffee outside to enjoy the garden, if time and weather permit. The town of Mt. Shasta is lovely, with shops and restaurants, and amazing mountains as a backdrop. We ate dinner at the Trinity Cafe and it was worth every penny! I'd like to come back to the Dream Inn sometime, to see more of the town and do some local hiking. All in all, it was a nice stop and well priced.

I love this place!! We stayed at the king suite and it was so romantic and cozy. Love the breakfast and the owners are very friendly. Will definitely come back again

How could you not love this place?! The Dream Inn is the quaint and unique inn I hoped it would be. It couldn't be located in a more convenient place in this beautiful town and it is affordable. The hostess is very helpful and knowledgable about the area. I enjoyed the breakfast shared with the other guests around the big dining table with the other guests. Being vegetarian, I was also happy that the breakfast served was vegetarian and very delicious. The town of Mount Shasta is like a dream. The immense mountain towers over the town and I couldn't stop staring at it. I stayed in Suite 1 in the Spanish house (breakfast was served in the Victorian house).

We make it a point to stay at Mt Shasta Ranch when we drive to the Bay Area from Seattle. Each and every time we have been warmly welcomed with fresh homemade cookies, coffee and tea, as well as wine in the afternoon. They are kind, hardworking people living their dream of offering a top notch bed and breakfast in their lovely home. I especially enjoy sundown on the front veranda with blankets, our beverage of choice, a wonderful view of Mount Shasta and the beautiful countryside. The mansion, built in 1923, is well kept and spotless. There is a large dining room with a billiard table and many windows where one can read and watch finches and other birds at the bird feeders. There's also a cozy living room with a fireplace and a lovely wood fire when it is chilly outside. Each time they have offered our choice of rooms when available and been treated like family. The bedrooms, each one tastefully decorated with antiques, feature comfortable beds and thoughtfully curated amenities. There are two separate lodges for families behind the house itself. I also appreciated seeing a pair of horses in the pasture next door. Kris and David are always happy to recommend local restaurants, hikes and other activities. But most of all the this B&B is a quiet and peaceful respite. I know they also host various groups for retreats. We have especially enjoyed meeting other guests at the Mt Shasta Ranch as well. Lastly, a highlight of our stay is Kris's gourmet breakfasts, delicious and varied, served by David who is charming and accommodating. This place is an absolute gem. We highly recommend it.

I was so happy with my bed and breakfast experience that I definitely will trust my fellow reviewers in the future. First, Janelle was super accommodating and let me check in early because I would be attending the wedding and needed to get ready. She followed up with me on text message as to my arrival time to make sure that she would be there to greet me. When I walked in, I noticed my phone number was coded to the key pad entrance to the B&B. So cool! Janelle was there to greet me and give me an envelope with my key and instructions. I went up with her to the bedroom and needless to say, was so impressed with her style and quality that she brings to her B&B. The room seemed to be flawless in the way that she spent time picking out pictures and linens. The linens were even washed in a very nice fabric softener and didn't have that normal "hotel" smell. I was able to get the Sun Dial Room, and even though it was the most expensive, it was definitely worth every penny. There was a fresh, large bottle of water in the room with chocolates. I had free wifi and a nice flat screen TV. A jacuzzi tub. And oh, did I mention.. the best, most comfortable bed that I never wanted to leave? Top it off.. breakfast in the morning makes me giddy just thinking about it. I had french toast, a vegetable frittata, potatoes, chicken/apple sausage, fresh juice and coffee. Janelle served breakfast promptly at 8:30 and I was definitely there with bells on. Everything was served family style and while eating breakfast you are able to enjoy the company of other guests, which makes breakfast that much more entertaining. For a few bucks more, stay at this bed and breakfast. Completely avoid the Howard Johnson or other chain hotel. You will not be disappointed.

The only part I didn't care for was that it was right next to the front door (literally shares a wall) to the entrance of the lobby. So, that meant a lot of foot traffic and sounds nearby. That time, I spotted the Treehouse Room, and told myself I would be back. This year, I took my man on a special trip here in the summer. We stayed in the Treehouse, and that is my favorite place here. I couldn't imagine a better room. We had a great view of the stars (there is a sky light above the bed), a super spacious bathroom with an epic jetted soaking tub (we literally stayed in for 2 hours), a beautiful fireplace and a fireplace in the bathroom! This room is truly private and really great for a special occasion. We did have some laughs though because a couple of times we thought someone was knocking on the door (they deliver breakfast right to your front door in a basket), but quickly realized it was a woodpecker! LOL. There are tons of woodpeckers and pretty bird sightings around. Plus, you're just a 5 minute drive from the Shasta caverns and you can't beat this place. My only area of recommendation is improving the breakfast. Years ago when I first went, everything was homemade, like a true B&B. This time, it was like a microwaved store-bought quiche that was not edible. Really plain and funky breakfast, so we would pick through it but it was not great. If they picked up the food options this place would be a solid 5 stars in my book.

We booked this hotel based on it's location to the Shasta Caverns…read more Check-in was fairly simple and contactless. They send you the directions and room access code so you can go directly to your room. The layout is like a big house with a coming hallway in the center to access the dining and sitting area. But you can also access your room from the outside of the building, which was so much easier. We stayed in the HUMMINGBIRD. The layout is a little peculiar but we wanted a king bed and this was the only room available last minute. There are two big, floor to ceiling French doors on each side of the room that looked out into the courtyard. Although the view was beautiful, it was like you were on display to anyone walking from their car to their room, so we kept the curtains closed for privacy. The room had a king bed with very nice sheets and comfortable pillows. A fireplace with a TV in the center of the room. There was a table set up for 4 and a wet bar, with microwave and small refrigerator in the center of the room in front of the fireplace and TV. A sofa and two sitting chairs were at the opposite side of the long rectangular room. Again just a peculiar setup. We did a little room rearranging while we were there so we could enjoy the fireplace while laying in bed. The bathroom was amazing and included a large jacuzzi tub and huge walk-in shower. The staff was very polite and provided very thorough room and area information, including local attractions and recommended restaurants in the area. At night you fill out a breakfast menu and in the morning they bring you your breakfast in a basket. The presentation is amazing! Menu items changed daily. They also provided 24/7 coffee and tea in the lobby. The price for the room was fair and everything was super clean! We really did enjoy our stay. Definitely recommend. *Side note for the HUMMINGBIRD room. It would make more sense to have a small room modification by moving the wet bar next to the bathroom wall. Setting the bed in front of the fireplace so the TV is in front of the bed and not off to the side. OR.. have the sofa in front of the TV and fireplace. I know it's a weird shaped room, but my personal opinion is that it can be set up different to have a better flow. Regardless we still enjoyed the stay but just my two cents in that.
