Checking out the early morning air from my room balcony

The most genuinely kind and amazing couple!! Beautiful and peaceful location on the river. Jessica and Dave are incredible hosts, great cooks, knowledgeable, and honest human beings. It was so refreshing and pleasant being in their humble and inviting bed and breakfast. Easy conversations over breakfast, which was amazingly fresh and tasty! Thank God for such good people and others like them!! The weekend stay was one of the most memorable vacations. Thank you both... Can't wait to come back in November!!!

My fiance and I stayed two nights and wished we had two more. You are steps away from the river and you hear the fish jumping all night. If you are a fisherman, this is the place for you! The Miner's Cabin offered a perfect, romantic, rustic retreat for us. You should think of your stay there as, "glamping". The cosy, one-room-loft-bedroom cabin is clean and basic, the structure itself, utterly charming. The bathroom is but a toilet, the entire room the shower cubicle & it's VERY clean, but most bathing happened in the river, shh, I'm not gonna lie. The cabin's heart is the pretty balcony that looks out over the crystal-clear river, where we spent a lot of our time relaxing and cooking. The kitchen is only a small bar fridge (though they do provide a large ice chest with ample space - just don't forget to buy ice), a sink, a microwave, toaster oven & an electric frying pan. Being outdoors folks though & a cook, we came prepared. I brought a portable gas burner which made the balcony a charming spot to fry up the beautiful, Steelhead Trout I was catching (FANTASTIC fishing). We ate meals out there too, to the majestic view of the river, the mountains & the pines, immediately before us. I also brought my cast iron dutch oven & used the wonderful, functional fire pit/ BBQ down on the river rock patio to roast vegetables in the fire. If you are wise about when to open and close windows at appropriate parts of the day, the Miner's Cabin stays wonderfully cool, even in the hottest of summer days as we experienced at around 103F. I think we used the swamp cooler once for an hour out of curiosity for what it may do. At night, the incredibly comfortable loft bed was heaven. We'd open up the pretty gable windows and enjoy the cool, evening breeze and sound of the lively river. The big house next door, also owned by Heidi, had a large family group staying there. We'd only see them sometimes when we'd use the driveway which is shared. Even with their nearby presence, the cabin felt very secluded. Occasionally folks would float by down the river and you'd share a wave or smile. You can hear the highway which is quite incongruous as you seem so far away from civilization. The river water is incredible. Our dog's coat and our hair and skin have never felt so good from lolling about in the water. Heidi has very detailed instructions and information available on the website and in the email package. Be sure to read them so you know exactly what you're in for and any additional costs like a dog fee etc. All the info you need is there. Heidi is very communicative. If you want the kind of no-frills, communing with nature experience we were after, this place is for YOU!

I was so happy with my bed and breakfast experience that I definitely will trust my fellow reviewers in the future. First, Janelle was super accommodating and let me check in early because I would be attending the wedding and needed to get ready. She followed up with me on text message as to my arrival time to make sure that she would be there to greet me. When I walked in, I noticed my phone number was coded to the key pad entrance to the B&B. So cool! Janelle was there to greet me and give me an envelope with my key and instructions. I went up with her to the bedroom and needless to say, was so impressed with her style and quality that she brings to her B&B. The room seemed to be flawless in the way that she spent time picking out pictures and linens. The linens were even washed in a very nice fabric softener and didn't have that normal "hotel" smell. I was able to get the Sun Dial Room, and even though it was the most expensive, it was definitely worth every penny. There was a fresh, large bottle of water in the room with chocolates. I had free wifi and a nice flat screen TV. A jacuzzi tub. And oh, did I mention.. the best, most comfortable bed that I never wanted to leave? Top it off.. breakfast in the morning makes me giddy just thinking about it. I had french toast, a vegetable frittata, potatoes, chicken/apple sausage, fresh juice and coffee. Janelle served breakfast promptly at 8:30 and I was definitely there with bells on. Everything was served family style and while eating breakfast you are able to enjoy the company of other guests, which makes breakfast that much more entertaining. For a few bucks more, stay at this bed and breakfast. Completely avoid the Howard Johnson or other chain hotel. You will not be disappointed.

My friends would say, "Sure, stay here when you're in town. Not a problem at all. We have a guest room, and a really nice backyard. Oh, you're bringing your bicycle(s) too? That's fine; we have a garage where you can keep them safe and dry." What would probably happen next is that we'd avail ourselves of all of this hospitality: my friends would cook us eggs for breakfast, give us glasses of wine in the evening, and let us go about our business in between the breakfast and the wine. And then, not ready to say goodbye to the weekend yet, we would probably go off on a long hike and not come back to collect our bicycles until nigh dark. When we finally made it back, my friends would be worried about us and would have already called around to try to find out whether we were okay. All in all, quite nice. It's good to have old friends in Redding.

This is my second time at this place. The first time I went was in 2018 and I stayed in the Finch…read moreroom. It was small, but really cute. The only part I didn't care for was that it was right next to the front door (literally shares a wall) to the entrance of the lobby. So, that meant a lot of foot traffic and sounds nearby. That time, I spotted the Treehouse Room, and told myself I would be back. This year, I took my man on a special trip here in the summer. We stayed in the Treehouse, and that is my favorite place here. I couldn't imagine a better room. We had a great view of the stars (there is a sky light above the bed), a super spacious bathroom with an epic jetted soaking tub (we literally stayed in for 2 hours), a beautiful fireplace and a fireplace in the bathroom! This room is truly private and really great for a special occasion. We did have some laughs though because a couple of times we thought someone was knocking on the door (they deliver breakfast right to your front door in a basket), but quickly realized it was a woodpecker! LOL. There are tons of woodpeckers and pretty bird sightings around. Plus, you're just a 5 minute drive from the Shasta caverns and you can't beat this place. My only area of recommendation is improving the breakfast. Years ago when I first went, everything was homemade, like a true B&B. This time, it was like a microwaved store-bought quiche that was not edible. Really plain and funky breakfast, so we would pick through it but it was not great. If they picked up the food options this place would be a solid 5 stars in my book.

We booked this hotel based on it's location to the Shasta Caverns…read more Check-in was fairly simple and contactless. They send you the directions and room access code so you can go directly to your room. The layout is like a big house with a coming hallway in the center to access the dining and sitting area. But you can also access your room from the outside of the building, which was so much easier. We stayed in the HUMMINGBIRD. The layout is a little peculiar but we wanted a king bed and this was the only room available last minute. There are two big, floor to ceiling French doors on each side of the room that looked out into the courtyard. Although the view was beautiful, it was like you were on display to anyone walking from their car to their room, so we kept the curtains closed for privacy. The room had a king bed with very nice sheets and comfortable pillows. A fireplace with a TV in the center of the room. There was a table set up for 4 and a wet bar, with microwave and small refrigerator in the center of the room in front of the fireplace and TV. A sofa and two sitting chairs were at the opposite side of the long rectangular room. Again just a peculiar setup. We did a little room rearranging while we were there so we could enjoy the fireplace while laying in bed. The bathroom was amazing and included a large jacuzzi tub and huge walk-in shower. The staff was very polite and provided very thorough room and area information, including local attractions and recommended restaurants in the area. At night you fill out a breakfast menu and in the morning they bring you your breakfast in a basket. The presentation is amazing! Menu items changed daily. They also provided 24/7 coffee and tea in the lobby. The price for the room was fair and everything was super clean! We really did enjoy our stay. Definitely recommend. *Side note for the HUMMINGBIRD room. It would make more sense to have a small room modification by moving the wet bar next to the bathroom wall. Setting the bed in front of the fireplace so the TV is in front of the bed and not off to the side. OR.. have the sofa in front of the TV and fireplace. I know it's a weird shaped room, but my personal opinion is that it can be set up different to have a better flow. Regardless we still enjoyed the stay but just my two cents in that.
