A MUST MUST STAY PLACE! Great location. Beautiful Surroundings. Perfect view of Mt. Shasta. Quiet, peaceful, relaxing, close to everything. My family wanted to move here. Perfect weather and lake plus falls minutes away. Better pricing than hotels. Clean new rooms, comfy, and they have everything. Stores walking distance.

The outside courtyard. Great views, quiet, and very welcoming!

I have never been to McCloud before, but was looking for something in the mountains with outdoor activities. I found this little and quiet town in my search. In that search I located this lodge. I was kind of leery as I thought it might have been on a main road. Well, it's not! It's on a side street off the main roadway. We booked cabin #7. Cabin #7 faces the roadway where the parking lot is. Believe it or not, we could not hear people in the parking lot. Cabin #7 is two floors. On the first floor there is the only bathroom, a small kitchenette area, and a king bed. Upstairs there are two extremely comfortable queen beds! Literally the most comfortable bed I've slept in! The only draw back was the people sharing the adjacent wall. I believe their stairs are located where ours were in the cabin because we could hear them running up and down it all night. Once they went to bed it wasn't an issue. This Lodge is a self check in and out which was nice! Easy to do! The lodge is close to everything! McCloud Lake was fun for kayaking and McCloud Falls were right up the roadway. Highly recommend breakfast at White Mountain Cafe and dinner at Axe & Rose Brew house. We will be coming back and staying here again.

We had rooms 3 and 6. 6 is the two story family unit. Both rooms were wonderful! Air conditioning and ceiling fans (so necessary during our stay) worked very well. The beds were sooo comfortable! The manager, Jill (and her husband) were friendly and helpful and really made us feel welcome. Small refrigerator and microwave in the room with some plates and silverware. Lots of ammenities. The view from the back patio is gorgeous. It's too bad that the restaurant isn't open. The owner is selling this lodge. I hope someone buys it and reopens the restaurant because we would love to come back and I'm down for the whole package!

We stayed one night here and it was great. We will be staying here again for sure. Check in and out was a breeze! It has inspired McCloud to be a few favorite on our list.

Steve, the owner is very friendly and accommodating. The town of McCloud was build by the McCloud Mill family for the loggers and sawmill workers who would come to work from spring through fall each year milling trees. Once that industry died out the town has survived through other means such as tourism. McCloud in particular is known for putting on some fantastic festivals through their active Chamber of Commerce and other organizations. Their annual Mushroom Festival brings in over 60,000 people from all over California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada for the weekend. It offers a variety of Music, Food, Wine, a mushroom farmers market, a series of educational Mushroom classes by professional mycologists from all over the world. And a Crafters/Art market featuring unique, one of a kind and stunning works of art. At the base of Mt. Shasta, McCloud is 3.5 miles from the town of Mt. Shasta. McCloud Falls is 11 miles away, don't miss those. Medicine Lake is a sacred place nearby and also a good place to fish. Check out the McCloud Chamber of Commerce for updated events.

I am a tad arrogant, having access to the some of the best cuisine by living close to San Francisco. Now to be fair, their price point reflects what you see sitting on the plate before you. The service is polite. Ambiance is fun. I ran around in these train cars as a child while vacationing with family 30 years ago. My advice would be, go with what works. The previous owner had it going on, knew the territory so to speak. This place has "warning Will Robbinson" all over it, like sushi in Kansas. A tuckered out Fly Fisherman would prefer a great steak and baked potato. No shame in that, it is the pillar of American dining. If I want foo-foo, I will go to SFO. But then again, I think the food in Paris is "OK", (specifically their entrees) Paris has great bread, crackers and cheese. Alright, pastry, baguets, and fromage. All the offerings in Italy are amazing and the only thing to eat in the UK are chippies. The best "foo foo food" was Betlenut Pan-Asian on Union Street in San Francisco. Lost their lease however. THAT was the bom-d-idly. Hey if you want a fabulous steak, try Jacks in DT Redding. Great place, but you will wait an hour, maybe two. But it is worth the wait. Has an interesting provenance, the location and building itself, was a house of ill repute back in the FDR days, so the legend goes. Cafe Maddalena in Dunsmuir is excellent as well. This faux fusion/euro/cubano/too cool to be true... might make 2 years max. It is the epitome of "The fastest way to make a small fortune, out of a large fortune is to start a restaurant." Inherited money, I can smell it burning in the kitchen.

They're small spaces (manufactured homes) but they aren't connected with walls to anyone, so it was less stressful to have our baby wake up in the middle of the night. We didn't have to worry about waking our neighbors. 2. The little "neighborhood" loop is cute, too. And the lights at night over the road are fun. 3. Really easy to find off the freeway. 4. Our unit was backed up to the tree line. It felt peaceful looking out the window! 5. The unit felt secure. Cons: 1. The road noise is loud when you're outside. It's literally right on I-5. But we couldn't hear it in our unit. 2. The look is very MCM and cute but the furniture was all for show, not necessarily functional. The "couch" (more loveseat size) was broken on one end. 3. It definitely wasn't well cleaned. There was a layer of dust under the couch, the shower had hair on the walls and you could tell someone used purple shampoo, because it was also still on the shower wall. And drain was backed up slightly. The bathroom sink drain was also backed up. And the kitchen sink was severely backing up. I think someone thought there was a garbage disposal and there wasn't. 4. When I told the front desk at night what was happening, the girl was incredibly kind and tried to problem solve. She offered to move us to another unit but it was after 8 pm and we had an infant with a lot of stuff that would have needed to be moved. Since we were leaving in the morning, it would have been too much to move that late at night. The girl was very understanding and told me she was going to pass it onto her manager. When I checked out in the morning, the same girl was working. She said she told her manager and they talked about some sort of refund or compensation and she assured me the manager would call me, as the manager was standing in the same room as us but talking to another customer. Manager never called to follow up. It was really disappointing. We had planned on stopping and staying on our way back up to Oregon but chose a hotel instead after we didn't hear from them for a week.

That was really sweet of them! The room had a microwave and small fridge w/freezer. There was a small office desk with coffee and ice. Tv, a/c, heater unit. Two things to note: 1. If you use 3 ports to charge at the clock on the nightstand, it uses too much power and one of the electronics needs to be unplugged. There are wall outlets, so you'd need to use those. 2. We didn't have a shower curtain when we arrived. I thought it was one of those modern places where it's just open, but we definitely needed a shower curtain. I felt so bad showering and getting everything wet in the bathroom. Housekeeping was kind to answer quickly and gave us towels to clean up. The fan in the bathroom isn't that effective. I suspect they'll have a mold problem in the future. The light switch to the bathroom is on the outside, which I thought was odd. Other than that, we had a pleasant one night stay. We would stay here again!
