    Gorgeous and dog friendly

This place is great and convenient. With beautiful grounds. This year they opened earlier (in the winter) and were super accommodating and helpful. Susan and her husband were very friendly and helpful. They have a stream on the property they're dog friendly they have all the conveniences on site and have a bar (horse ranch) adjacent to the property and a market and gas station right out the park. And. Very close to mt Shasta ski park.

The view is just stunning to see Mt. Shasta every morning! We recently had the pleasure of staying at Mc Cloud RV Resort and it was an absolute delight! The panoramic views of the surrounding mountains from the RV sites took our breath away!! Facilities: They have spotlessly clean restrooms and Hot showers! They also have a laundry room available and an area to wash dishes just make sure to clean up after your self. The staff were incredibly friendly and always went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and if we are having a great time. Waterfalls just 30 minutes away from the Rv Park. Definitely a must see!

(Review from August 2023) If you live in the big city like me, you just need to get away at least a week or two a year. I fell in love with this place the second I got here. Friendly staff and yes Mccloud is a small town but everything you need is still within walking distance If you don't feel like driving. Can't wait to go back in April of this year.

See the yellow highlighted section on their flyer. We couldn't rely on their power to run our AC on a hot day.

NOT GOOD IF YOU ARE RELYING ON THEIR POWER. When we arrived they handed us a flyer that says "Energy conservation is required - The voltage at each site will drop depending on the occupancy of the park, we all draw from the same transformers. If you need perfect voltage then this is not the RV park for you." Wait, what?! No where on their website did they advertise this when we booked the park and I couldn't find anything about it when I re-read their website site. The only reason we booked this expensive RV park for our Fourth of July vacation instead of finding a beautiful, free or lower cost camping spot in the area (of which there are many!) was because the July 4th weekend was extremely hot and we needed power to run our AC. Well on July 4, the park was at high capacity and the power kept browning out in 95 degree weather. If I had known this ahead of time I would not have booked this park!!! Otherwise it was a nice RV park. The staff was nice and we liked our spot number 116. We felt like we had the best spot in the park, but our RV is 30amp, and the 50amp spots looked crowded and piled on top of one another. My favorite part about this park was that there is a very small local brewery next door!

McCloud RV pickup with camper, it looks like they use it as their office.

I am disappointed with this RV park. To start, we called and made reservations and that was good. Upon arrival you stop at their check in office, the lady started out peaceful, but when I started asking questions, she became a little tart in her responses and her tone was not happy. Backing in to my space was tricky because the spots are tight and small. When I made reservations I told them I had 2 slides outside. I was unable to keep the right side tires on the narrow slab because the left slider would hit the power post. Also the space was short. We told them we had a 33 ft trailer, it barely fit. My rear stabilizers had to land on a wood log. The premium back in only has 30 Amp connections. The cable for the TV did not work. This place gets a lot of families, but there is nothing for kids to play on and no activities for them. Many kids were riding their electric bicycles around the park at high rates of speed. This needs to STOP! It is so unsafe, there are a lot of RV's and other cars driving around. The wifi is not good. It barely works, they blame it on the trees. Yeah, right! Outside , but right in front of the office is a big pickup with a camper on it. It sits there all day long with someone sitting in it on a computer. This is very unattractive, and it's in the way for people exiting the park. During my stay I had called the office times, each time the message said to leave a message and they will get back to you in 24 hrs. They NEVER returned either of my calls, they were standing outside the office and in that truck camper. The grounds crew work well, they kept the grounds clean. I forgot to mention that they water A LOT!!! Your stuff will get wet. This place is right up against the world's noisiest highway!! My God, the traffic is loud 24/7. I don't think we'll be coming back.

We stayed one night on our way to Ashland. The host was incredibly kind and gracious over the phone. Our check in was quick and painless. The kids enjoyed riding bikes on the loop, playing in the creek (we were in RV spot 13) and getting pizza right next door for dinner. We drove up the next day to the falls. It's a short drive. You can walk down to the lower falls/river at one stop and see the middle and/or upper at a stop up the road. They are beautiful! Be careful at the upper falls lookout, we all got stung by wasps.

Perfect for kids as stream is wide but very shallow. RV's in outside of circle with a beautiful common grassy area in center. Ideal for groups. Large common eating. Lots of bike riding and perfect for kids. Reasonably priced. Cons: Limited parking and very tight spaces. Charge $2/day for dog. Provide dog poop bags but nowhere to dispose. You'd think there would be some kind of disposal where the bags are but no...There is a sign that says to dispose at trash near laundry room. I walked almost the entire park and couldn't find the laundry room. And not a single trash can!!! They expect their rver's to haul their garbage across the park and then fling in into those huge dumpsters that many of us can't reach or are to old to get the needed height. And it's gross and smelly. Many parks pick up garbage daily or have reasonably sized cans spaced around the park. McCloud is noted for its wandering bears but there has to be a better solution... The next day I set out for the trash by the laundry room. I found the laundry room with a sign "Call this number and the office will text the key code. Someone is borrowing too much toilet paper." Really??? A resort this size can't afford toilet paper so the entire clientele have to suffer this inconvenience??? This wasn't for us. Could hardly get thru with one lane. Our neighbors were way too close. Tables were situated behind the rv as no room beside. Everyone had dogs but no fenced area for off lease. The dog park was a dusty trail along the fence next to the highway. Dogs were aloud on the grassy areas and everyone was good about picking up.

Beautiful space, grouchy raunchy camp hosts/owners…read more When we first pulled in we thought we had found our annual getaway location. We paid for three nights, but fully expected to extend our stay for two or three more. But shortly after we set up Bob the camp host showed up and sort of hijacked us on a tour of the house he's building and the park waterways, the development history, and more. On the surface we thought that was very nice of him, and was very informative. But the reality was that he dragged my wife and I around on a 40-year-old golf cart while he told raunchy jokes about such things as Monica Lewinsky in great detail, shared his opinions on world affairs, bragged about his influence in the McCloud area, and more, all with a spin towards the lewd and raunchy. We tried to accommodate him because he is an elderly fellow and we had never met him, but I have to admit it times it felt like we were in the opening scenes of a trashy slasher movie, and I was looking at every shadow and open doorway for a possible sighting of someone with a hockey mask. We couldn't wait for him to drop us back off at our campsite Also, every park has upsells, which is fine. But this park advertises itself as a fly fishing Ranch but charges $65 per hour for catch and release fishing. There are at least a dozen spots within 5 miles where you can fish for free. The McCloud river is a world-class Blue ribbon trout fishing stream -free fishing with a license, all day every day The 30-amp plug didn't work, we used the 15 amp standby plug during our stay. We have a small Casita which doesn't draw much power, so it was okay. During our visit we watched Bob and his wife Maylon be more than a little overzealous with other guests about camp rules. While we were in the cart with him, he didn't think twice about stopping to chastise to adult campers who were on e-bikes on evidently the wrong trails in the park. His reasoning was that he didn't let kids bike in that area of the park because he was worried one of the children might drive a bike into one of the ponds, so he couldn't let these adults driving very sophisticated two or $3,000 e-bikes bike back there either. It was awkward for us to be in the car with him while he was addressing these other guests. The next day, we got our turn being on the wrong end of Bob and Maylons grouchiness. They pulled into our campsite and abruptly told us we had to turn our music off. We were playing Willie Nelson quite low, but they heard it from the next campsite over. No camper complained. This was at 5:00 p.m. . The park rules site quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. this was on a Monday, after we had listened to loud construction noises from a bathroom remodel two campsites over all day Saturday and Sunday until well after dark, which we did not complain about or even get bothered by until our battery powered speaker was just more than they could stand to listen to. We had conversations with other campers, wonderful folks who we met during our stay, who observed the things things we did and felt the same way. It was a common observation that it was a beautiful spot, but The grouchy and raunchy demeanor of the camp host took a lot of the joy away of the stay. One family with whom we had especially nice conversations, decided to end their trip three days early, after having driven all the way from Las Vegas, some 12-hour drive. As we exited the park I found the owner and told him how unsettling his demeanor had been and try to explain that his method of dealing with errant e-bike riders and our little speaker playing music left a lot to be desired. I told him I was especially upset by the raunchy, graphic, jokes he told in front of my wife, and he denied having told them. I feel sorry for the staff member who happened to be in the office when we were having this conversation, but I told Bob that he was a liar and reminded him we were on the deck of his new house and the exact nature of the joke that he told. He simply spun on his heel and went back into his residence. In short, if you come here expect a beautiful space but some raunchy and grouchy camp hosts/owners. If you talk to Bob, it's probably best to keep your wife and children away, and if you talk to Maylon, don't expect much in the way of smiles or gracious camp host demeanor that you might expect in such a place. To close, Fridays RV resort - been there done that, didn't buy the t-shirt, not going back.

The previous owner had it going on, knew the territory so to speak. This place has "warning Will Robbinson" all over it, like sushi in Kansas. A tuckered out Fly Fisherman would prefer a great steak and baked potato. No shame in that, it is the pillar of American dining. If I want foo-foo, I will go to SFO. But then again, I think the food in Paris is "OK", (specifically their entrees) Paris has great bread, crackers and cheese. Alright, pastry, baguets, and fromage. All the offerings in Italy are amazing and the only thing to eat in the UK are chippies. The best "foo foo food" was Betlenut Pan-Asian on Union Street in San Francisco. Lost their lease however. THAT was the bom-d-idly. Hey if you want a fabulous steak, try Jacks in DT Redding. Great place, but you will wait an hour, maybe two. But it is worth the wait. Has an interesting provenance, the location and building itself, was a house of ill repute back in the FDR days, so the legend goes. Cafe Maddalena in Dunsmuir is excellent as well. But if you like white noise, that might be a plus. This was the darkest campground I've ever camped at so far. The view of the stars was great. The cold was on another level. I wouldn't recommend tent camping unless you really know what you're doing. Theoretically, this campground has free showers, but they are closed for the season. I couldn't help but notice that the windows have been broken into and boarded back up. There was theoretically potable water, but it tasted a little funky. Most of the pumps were broken, which made it seem like maybe the rest are about to be determined to be broken soon. There was an electric outlet in the bathroom with a sign warning not to leave personal items. In site 25, which is reserved for PCT hikers, I found another sign warning that items are frequently stolen from the bathrooms, and to use the outlets hidden in the amphitheater instead. (There is also a Starbucks about fifteen minutes away in Shasta.) A trail behind site 25 leads to the PCT, but the trail was currently full of fallen trees and hazards. Another trail near Vista Point turned out to be a safer route to the PCT. A 2 mile trail leads from the campground to Vista Point, where you can either keep hiking, or take in the panoramic views of Mt. Shasta, Castle Crags, and the Gray Rocks. I chose site 38 to camp in, which was at the end of the line of sites that are currently open. The first two nights, I paid with the self serve envelope. The rest I purchased from the Ranger Station. Camping was only $25/night, half off with qualifying passes. So it only cost me $50 to stay here 4 nights. The spaces on the main road were huge, and very well spaced. There was a camp host on duty on site 20, and maintenance came through every day to clean the restrooms and empty the trash. I didn't see much wildlife except for a lot of birds. Wildflowers were just beginning to bloom on the trails. There isn't much to do near the campground, but I found this to be a great place to have some relative peace and quiet for a few days.

One day we will try it. From the east bay, it's about 300 miles north, if we want to see the falls and the lake shasta caverns, we need to sleep over one night because it'd take 5-6 hr to drive. When we get to the McCloud River, there are actual roads to drive to 3 Falls, Lower, Middle and Upper Falls. Each from the parking lot only take a few minutes hike to see the Falls, although we didn't go to the bottom of the upper falls, but we could see some. The lower falls where many people swim, or like us, sit on the rocks to feel the water gushing through rocks very nice. The middle falls, we didn't really hike to the bottom of the falls but stayed where we could see the clear views of the falls. Where people also play with the water. Next time when we visit Burney Falls, we will hike to the bottom of all these falls. Love these falls, love California.

McCloud and Burney Falls (an hour away) make the best one-two punch for waterfalls outside Yosemite. However, unlike Burney Falls, McCloud Falls has lots of free parking and no entrance fee because it is not a state park. Upper Falls is the least dramatic. An ADA-accessible trail leads to an observation deck about 90 feet above the falls. The fact that people were waiting efficiently in a line to take a photo was more exciting for me than the falls itself. Plus, it is a bit strange looking down on waterfalls. Stupid waterfalls. Anyhow, of the three locations Upper Falls offers a quieter environment, ideal for relaxation and reflection, especially if the water is still. Lower Falls was the most chaotic, with two lanes of parking lot traffic on a one-way road, and more kids sprawling the river for swimming. The area, stocked with trout, seemed the more picnic and day trippy of the falls, the best place to eat your lunch. Middle Falls is the money shot. The postcard. The one that has people posing for hours for the 'Gram. This is because it's 50 feet high and over 100 feet wide, creating a curtain of water over a basalt cliff into a pool below. McCloud Falls deserves its own Yelp page--lumping it in with a generic "McCloud River" listing is like posting Niagara Falls under the Niagara River. Come on now. Together, McCloud Falls and Burney Falls (just an hour apart) make the best one-two punch for waterfall chasers outside of Yosemite. But unlike Burney Falls, located in a state park that charges an entrance fee, McCloud Falls offers something rare and beautiful: lots of free parking and zero entrance fees. My favorite kind of waterfalls are free. Upper Falls is the least dramatic of the trio. A well-maintained ADA-accessible trail leads to an observation deck perched about 90 feet above the falls. Ironically, the orderly line of people waiting to snap a photo was more thrilling than the waterfall itself. Also, there's something a little odd about looking down on a waterfall. Stupid waterfalls. That said, Upper Falls is the most peaceful and serene, making it perfect for quiet moments of reflection--especially when the water is still. Lower Falls is the more chaotic of the trio, with two lanes of traffic trying to share a narrow one-way road, while kids are sprawled across the banks of a rushing, whitewater river. The area, stocked with trout, feels tailor-made for picnics and day trips--the kind of place where sandwiches taste better for no logical reason. Middle Falls is the showstopper. The money shot. The backdrop of annoying Instagram photo sessions. At 50 feet high and over 100 feet wide, it sends a dramatic curtain of water spilling over a basalt cliff into a pool below, with summer crowds climbing the shoreline boulders and wading into the 42 degree water just to ruin your pictures. I had to edit out so many people, they should call them McPhotoshop Falls.
