Great views. Check in was easy peasy. Site was big enough for our 42 feet. Easy access to gas if you want to pay California prices

Stayed here for a few days so we could see Mount Shasta and the surrounding cities. Staff was as friendly as the name itself states. We had site #1, which might be the best site on the property, in my opinion. Easy pullthru and plenty of space to drive out and pull back in. Not a lot of noise at night except from the truck stop next door. But even that was minimal. Even in july, at cooled way down in the evening time so no need for air conditioning. Overall was a great experience. We'll definitely be back if we're traveling through the area on the five freeway again. Thank you for a great stay!!

The view from our site in the morning :)

I'd rate this place a 3.5 (rounding up to 4 because we had a good stay). I was brand new to RVing and it was the 2nd ever RV park I stayed at. We just needed a one-night stay along our trip through the West Coast. I had an overall good impression of the park during our time here. The site was comfortable and we felt safe but it wasn't as nice as the 1st place we stayed at. This was next to a truck stop and there were tons of trucks all around which isn't the most ideal camping atmosphere overall, but it was outside of the park so we didn't really see them as much (maybe based on where our site was) until we started walking around the area to get food. The bathrooms were good and it was a close walk to food nearby. We enjoyed the beautiful view of Mt. Shasta in the morning as well! The park was quiet when we were there, and we had a good, abeit short, stay.

The back area of the park. Front area has more tree and asphalt pads.

Nice place and we would stay again. Upon arrival we were given choices about spots and we decided to walk around to see what suited us best. We needed a place to stay overnight while traveling between central CA and Washington. The sites are clean and level. Not concrete pad level, but who wants a concrete pad when you sit at the foot of Mt Shasta. There were a few units that looked like long term residents, but they were clean and well maintained. Showers were clean. We didn't watch TV, but a neighbor had a TV placed outside his rig and he seemed to be enjoying the cable. With windows open, there is a fair amount of freeway noise so if that bothers you maybe a spot towards the back would be better. The park is super convenient to hwy 5!

Nice little RV park with full hook ups for only $44. Good Sam or AAA discount. You can see Mount Shasta from certain areas in the park. You can walk up to the grocery outlet, Subway, taco Bell, cinnabon or other food places. Most spots are shady in the camp host is very nice. The only thing I did not like about the park is a lot of their sites are tandem, meaning somebody is parked right in front of you and you are parked right behind them.

The neighbor suggested a container might be found in shed since I had to do something. I found another neighbor to be a good hand when putting the hose into the container so there was hardly any spillage, except at septic receiver which had a few squints. Not being very professional at this I got the hose emptied into container. Cleaned as much as I was was able to. And hopped over the pine needles into our truck and once again that was a ordeal. Finally 30 mins later Jay calls screaming at me for creating a biohazard and was going to send the police to arrest me. What a nice guy. Then he presents me with a 500 dollar bill for using a bird storage bucket to put it in. I think he said I wasn't authorized to use it and now he has to buy another. We also saw the blue heron, bats, and two river otters! Baby bird above the men's bathroom. Lots to see and enjoy. This place is pristine and quiet. We'd just come from a gross Thousand Trails and a loud state park. Coming here with the clean (and air conditioned!!) bathrooms and showers was lovely. The hosts were so nice. And it just felt quiet and relaxing, only punctuated by territorial stallions making a fuss. Nice additions are the giant shaded area with picnics tables and Adirondack chairs to hang out in- our space didn't have a tree so the shaded option was much appreciated. You'd think there would be some kind of disposal where the bags are but no...There is a sign that says to dispose at trash near laundry room. I walked almost the entire park and couldn't find the laundry room. And not a single trash can!!! They expect their rver's to haul their garbage across the park and then fling in into those huge dumpsters that many of us can't reach or are to old to get the needed height. And it's gross and smelly. Many parks pick up garbage daily or have reasonably sized cans spaced around the park. McCloud is noted for its wandering bears but there has to be a better solution... The next day I set out for the trash by the laundry room. I found the laundry room with a sign "Call this number and the office will text the key code. Someone is borrowing too much toilet paper." Really??? A resort this size can't afford toilet paper so the entire clientele have to suffer this inconvenience??? This wasn't for us. Could hardly get thru with one lane. Our neighbors were way too close. Tables were situated behind the rv as no room beside. Everyone had dogs but no fenced area for off lease. We paid for three nights, but fully expected to extend our stay for two or three more. But shortly after we set up Bob the camp host showed up and sort of hijacked us on a tour of the house he's building and the park waterways, the development history, and more. On the surface we thought that was very nice of him, and was very informative. But the reality was that he dragged my wife and I around on a 40-year-old golf cart while he told raunchy jokes about such things as Monica Lewinsky in great detail, shared his opinions on world affairs, bragged about his influence in the McCloud area, and more, all with a spin towards the lewd and raunchy. We tried to accommodate him because he is an elderly fellow and we had never met him, but I have to admit it times it felt like we were in the opening scenes of a trashy slasher movie, and I was looking at every shadow and open doorway for a possible sighting of someone with a hockey mask. We couldn't wait for him to drop us back off at our campsite Also, every park has upsells, which is fine. But this park advertises itself as a fly fishing Ranch but charges $65 per hour for catch and release fishing. There are at least a dozen spots within 5 miles where you can fish for free. The McCloud river is a world-class Blue ribbon trout fishing stream -free fishing with a license, all day every day The 30-amp plug didn't work, we used the 15 amp standby plug during our stay. We have a small Casita which doesn't draw much power, so it was okay. During our visit we watched Bob and his wife Maylon be more than a little overzealous with other guests about camp rules. While we were in the cart with him, he didn't think twice about stopping to chastise to adult campers who were on e-bikes on evidently the wrong trails in the park. His reasoning was that he didn't let kids bike in that area of the park because he was worried one of the children might drive a bike into one of the ponds, so he couldn't let these adults driving very sophisticated two or $3,000 e-bikes bike back there either. It was awkward for us to be in the car with him while he was addressing these other guests. The next day, we got our turn being on the wrong end of Bob and Maylons grouchiness. They pulled into our campsite and abruptly told us we had to turn our music off. We were playing Willie Nelson quite low, but they heard it from the next campsite over. No camper complained. This was at 5:00 p.m. . The park rules site quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. this was on a Monday, after we had listened to loud construction noises from a bathroom remodel two campsites over all day Saturday and Sunday until well after dark, which we did not complain about or even get bothered by until our battery powered speaker was just more than they could stand to listen to. We had conversations with other campers, wonderful folks who we met during our stay, who observed the things things we did and felt the same way. It was a common observation that it was a beautiful spot, but The grouchy and raunchy demeanor of the camp host took a lot of the joy away of the stay. One family with whom we had especially nice conversations, decided to end their trip three days early, after having driven all the way from Las Vegas, some 12-hour drive. As we exited the park I found the owner and told him how unsettling his demeanor had been and try to explain that his method of dealing with errant e-bike riders and our little speaker playing music left a lot to be desired. I told him I was especially upset by the raunchy, graphic, jokes he told in front of my wife, and he denied having told them. I feel sorry for the staff member who happened to be in the office when we were having this conversation, but I told Bob that he was a liar and reminded him we were on the deck of his new house and the exact nature of the joke that he told. He simply spun on his heel and went back into his residence. In short, if you come here expect a beautiful space but some raunchy and grouchy camp hosts/owners. If you talk to Bob, it's probably best to keep your wife and children away, and if you talk to Maylon, don't expect much in the way of smiles or gracious camp host demeanor that you might expect in such a place. The service is polite. Ambiance is fun. I ran around in these train cars as a child while vacationing with family 30 years ago. My advice would be, go with what works. The previous owner had it going on, knew the territory so to speak. This place has "warning Will Robbinson" all over it, like sushi in Kansas. A tuckered out Fly Fisherman would prefer a great steak and baked potato. No shame in that, it is the pillar of American dining. If I want foo-foo, I will go to SFO. But then again, I think the food in Paris is "OK", (specifically their entrees) Paris has great bread, crackers and cheese. Alright, pastry, baguets, and fromage. All the offerings in Italy are amazing and the only thing to eat in the UK are chippies. The best "foo foo food" was Betlenut Pan-Asian on Union Street in San Francisco. Lost their lease however. THAT was the bom-d-idly. Hey if you want a fabulous steak, try Jacks in DT Redding. Great place, but you will wait an hour, maybe two. But it is worth the wait. Has an interesting provenance, the location and building itself, was a house of ill repute back in the FDR days, so the legend goes. Cafe Maddalena in Dunsmuir is excellent as well. This faux fusion/euro/cubano/too cool to be true... might make 2 years max. It is the epitome of "The fastest way to make a small fortune, out of a large fortune is to start a restaurant." Apparently the legal owners don't care, or just want to remain in hiding, but anyway its sliced, the current management does not care about its residence who live in the park. Most of them are fearful about speaking out, because universally they fear retaliation, which is a valid concern given her pissy attitude, especially for those who own Mobiles in the park, but I can share this: The manager, Renee, doesn't give a flying fuck about the residence. She runs it like a true Nazi dictator. I am an RVer who is only here on a temp basis, as I refuse to remain under her 'regime'. I am a retired property manager, and I can say I would have NEVER allowed, her hate, or her Nazi tactics at any property EVER! Abrams RV park is a nice place, its beautiful area, but the fact is, it could be run Sooooooooo much better, however, as it stands now, the bathrooms are an embarrassment, the laundry included. I'll attach photos as evidence of what I am saying. Now we are still here in the park, and I fully expect her to retaliate against us in any way she can, but honestly, i'd prefer she owns up to her hate, and recognizes it for what it is, and makes changes, not just for those who live her, but for herself as well. She clearly feels emboldened to continue her tactics, without regard for those how live in the park. Of course I will continue my title search to find who owns the park and will certainly share all this with them. Bottom line is simple: The Abrams RV park could be soooooo much better, and done so with very little costs to the owners, it would just take a better effort put forth by the managers.

To be…read moreclear, the campground is a short distance prior to the actual lake which has its own parking lot and trailheads. Once parked at the lake, you can embark on the moderate trail to Heart Lake. Approaching the lake, the trail is to the left of it and climbs along the lake shore with intermittent views. As you take a gradual but steady climb up, you will start to see views open up and eventually see Mt Shasta itself. Most hikers stop at Heart Lake which is a scenic spot with granite on one side and on the outlet side of the lake for Shasta views. If you're wanting a little bit of a longer hike, when facing the lake, make a right and log hop across its outlet and follow a faint but obvious trail to a rocky outcropping. There you will reach an amazing vista of Castle Lake and Mt Shasta. It's a great spot to have your lunch and take some amazing photos. Take care on the way down as there are some steep drop offs and slippery rocks. Most of the trail is exposed, so I'd go earlier in the day in the warm months. Depending on how far you go, it's 3-4 miles out and back. Wonderful way to have amazing mountain scenery in a short hike. Free parking at the lake and pit toilets (not the best, not the worst I've seen.)
