My daughter and I were traveling from Oregon to California and she was very sick. I decided to stay at this hotel because she was sick and wanted to lay down. We left the next morning in a hurry at around 5:30 a.m. because I wanted to get my daughter home to a doctor and my daughter left her laptop. When Jerilyn texted that we left it, I asked her to ship it. That was a Monday and by Friday, she had not sent it and quit responding, completely ignoring my messages and not returning my calls. It has been 11 days and it still is not here. When I checked again today, I said I would call the Sheriff's office. Her texts were very passive aggressive today and I'd be happy to post what she sent. My daughter was trying to finish college while sick and needed her computer. She said "good thing they invented iCloud". I'm assuming she meant my daughter could work on a different computer. I guess she thinks it's ok to keep someone's belongings. She also had to emphasize that we left it. I offered to pay and asked for express shipping. She had zero concern for returning our laptop. Yes, we left it but it should not take that long and I explained our stressful situation. Very unprofessional and such a lack of empathy. Im still wondering if we will receive it.

I would have rated this higher, but we got up and left very early because of the ANT invasion (on the wall, on the kitchenette counter, in my handbag). Apparently, we heard all of Dunsmuir is having an ant problem because of the dry weather and the drought is not helping any of the businesses. I booked my reservation through Booking.com. I have not seen this place before and wanted to avoid my husband's favorite because it's too rustic for me. Plus, we have never stayed on the downtown side and my husband had no clue this side of town existed even though Dunsmuir is one of his favorite places. The photos and the reviews were intriguing. We were running late and received a call with our code to the door and hotel room. Fortunately, someone was still there when we arrived. I'm bad with names, but she was very helpful with places to see and eat. We even saw her at The Wheelhouse when we were picking up dinner. There is no 24 hour concierge or a person on site, so it's like being in your own apartment. There are no elevators, only stairs to the rooms. The only room downstairs is the ADA room. We parked in front of the hotel, but there is limited parking next door and parking really is off street. Fortunately, we were there on a Sunday, so we didn't have any issues with that. We were in room 3 and if you look at Jim's review, he nailed it. The room is very small, but I thought is was tastefully decorated (i.e., cute). I thought the bathroom was fairly large and nicely decorated - No complaints on the shower. The shampoo/conditioner bottles were very small, but we rarely use them. I did have to go downstairs to ask for soap. I saw the ant bait/traps in our room so in the back of my mind, I hoped they didn't arrive, but unfortunately, they did. The window view is very sketchy looking. I did get to view the ADA room and Room #1. Both are very spacious and if you are looking to spread out a little more, those are the rooms to stay in. If the ant problem goes away, I might consider it again and pay a little more for the larger room.

We frequent this quiet little town to get away from the chaos of the city and for the activities the outdoor activities the area provides. We decided to spoil ourselves for a special occasion and stay at this beautiful boutique Hotel. There's convenient street parking right in front, and it's walking distance to shops and restaurants in the historic downtown area. The beautifully inviting lobby is passcoded, and so was the door to our suite. I like how it felt high tech. The room was very spacious, up to date, very clean, and had lots of amenities, a kitchenette, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also very spacious and provided everything you can think of. The staff was very inviting and helpful with all our needs, and gifted us with a welcome card, chocolates and bottle of wine when they were informed we just tied the knot. We're glad we treated ourselves here. It was relaxing, and quiet. Just what we needed.

I absolutely advise you to stay at the Mossbrae Hotel if you are in the area. My husband, myself and our 2 small kids stayed while looking for a cabin to buy in Dunsmuir. I booked our stay over the phone with Jerilyn and she was incredibly kind and helpful. She put us in room 1. The hotel is very well done. It's hip, trendy and cozy! No grandma doilies here! We arrived after hours and it was a very cold night, our room was toasty and ready for our late arrival with the kiddos, thanks Jerilyn! One of my biggest check boxes for anywhere we stay while traveling is a good, comfortable bed and the bed was amazing. From the linens to the pillows it was perfection. Oh and thank you thank you for the heated bathroom floors!!!!!!!! Wonderful wonderful stay.

Super cute, boutique style hotel with original hw floors. Bedding was exquisitely soft and bed so comfy to sleep on. We stayed in King Room #6. Decor was super cute. Nice, deep Koehler bathtub with hot water and lovely bathroom toiletries. Fresh ground coffee and even 1/2 and 1/2 in the fridge. The room came with a small fridge, 2 plates cups glasses wine glasses, too, all hidden in a small closet. The room came with a sitting area. Wi-Fi worked well. Lots of cable channels. Heater excellent. Hotel was super quiet - no street noise, no neighbor noise. Easy access off freeway and perfect stop on way from CA to OR. Dog friendly for $25. Super clean linens and towels. VERY Covid safe with hand sanitizer and masks around the hotel. Only con was the front desk employee wasn't very friendly and looked like she didn't want to be there. We arrived at ~ 6:15 pm on a Friday.

Absolutely adorable hotel. Dunsmuir is adorable and this hotel is no exception. They've remodeled it beautifully and didn't spare on fixtures or on the interior to include heated floors in the bathrooms - very well done! We stayed in room 1 (pictured). Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay again!

This is a joke right! Alan Funt is going to barge in anytime now and say "smile ... you're on candid camera." Don't think so. CONS: No hotel parking. Must park on street which makes me very nervous. No luggage cart because 22 steps to get up to second floor so pack lightly. Room 3 Extremely small. Probably 12 x 15 with an exceptional view as per picture. No chair - just room for a bed And don't try to use computer to work because WiFi won't connect PROS: Clean Summary: need full disclosure for Room 3. Especially for the price! Extremely disappointed. Going to be a long night.

The idea of this place is really cool and unique! We stayed in June 2025…read more Pros: 1. They're small spaces (manufactured homes) but they aren't connected with walls to anyone, so it was less stressful to have our baby wake up in the middle of the night. We didn't have to worry about waking our neighbors. 2. The little "neighborhood" loop is cute, too. And the lights at night over the road are fun. 3. Really easy to find off the freeway. 4. Our unit was backed up to the tree line. It felt peaceful looking out the window! 5. The unit felt secure. Cons: 1. The road noise is loud when you're outside. It's literally right on I-5. But we couldn't hear it in our unit. 2. The look is very MCM and cute but the furniture was all for show, not necessarily functional. The "couch" (more loveseat size) was broken on one end. 3. It definitely wasn't well cleaned. There was a layer of dust under the couch, the shower had hair on the walls and you could tell someone used purple shampoo, because it was also still on the shower wall. And drain was backed up slightly. The bathroom sink drain was also backed up. And the kitchen sink was severely backing up. I think someone thought there was a garbage disposal and there wasn't. 4. When I told the front desk at night what was happening, the girl was incredibly kind and tried to problem solve. She offered to move us to another unit but it was after 8 pm and we had an infant with a lot of stuff that would have needed to be moved. Since we were leaving in the morning, it would have been too much to move that late at night. The girl was very understanding and told me she was going to pass it onto her manager. When I checked out in the morning, the same girl was working. She said she told her manager and they talked about some sort of refund or compensation and she assured me the manager would call me, as the manager was standing in the same room as us but talking to another customer. Manager never called to follow up. It was really disappointing. We had planned on stopping and staying on our way back up to Oregon but chose a hotel instead after we didn't hear from them for a week.

The hotel grounds are attractive and nicely maintained. It's in a safe neighborhood and there is a small to-go coffee shop across the street. A small, well stocked grocery store is just down the street. It's a husband and wife operation and we found them to be warm and friendly in any interaction. On our initial check in the wife not only quickly checked us in but clued us as to waterfalls to see, nearby restaurants she frequented and Dunsmuir 's wonderful tap water, from the same source that is bottled and sold elsewhere (the tap water is to die for). The husband was also quite helpful checking us in the second time, changing our room to the second floor, giving us some backstory on the hotel and directions to a nice Riverwalk. The price was quite reasonable and we had a pleasant stay both times. Highly recommended.

I am a tad arrogant, having access to the some of the best cuisine by living close to San Francisco. Now to be fair, their price point reflects what you see sitting on the plate before you. The service is polite. Ambiance is fun. I ran around in these train cars as a child while vacationing with family 30 years ago. My advice would be, go with what works. The previous owner had it going on, knew the territory so to speak. This place has "warning Will Robbinson" all over it, like sushi in Kansas. A tuckered out Fly Fisherman would prefer a great steak and baked potato. No shame in that, it is the pillar of American dining. If I want foo-foo, I will go to SFO. But then again, I think the food in Paris is "OK", (specifically their entrees) Paris has great bread, crackers and cheese. Alright, pastry, baguets, and fromage. All the offerings in Italy are amazing and the only thing to eat in the UK are chippies. The best "foo foo food" was Betlenut Pan-Asian on Union Street in San Francisco. Lost their lease however. THAT was the bom-d-idly. Hey if you want a fabulous steak, try Jacks in DT Redding. Great place, but you will wait an hour, maybe two. But it is worth the wait. Has an interesting provenance, the location and building itself, was a house of ill repute back in the FDR days, so the legend goes. Cafe Maddalena in Dunsmuir is excellent as well. This faux fusion/euro/cubano/too cool to be true... might make 2 years max. It is the epitome of "The fastest way to make a small fortune, out of a large fortune is to start a restaurant." Inherited money, I can smell it burning in the kitchen.

That was really sweet of them! The room had a microwave and small fridge w/freezer. There was a small office desk with coffee and ice. Tv, a/c, heater unit. Two things to note: 1. If you use 3 ports to charge at the clock on the nightstand, it uses too much power and one of the electronics needs to be unplugged. There are wall outlets, so you'd need to use those. 2. We didn't have a shower curtain when we arrived. I thought it was one of those modern places where it's just open, but we definitely needed a shower curtain. I felt so bad showering and getting everything wet in the bathroom. Housekeeping was kind to answer quickly and gave us towels to clean up. The fan in the bathroom isn't that effective. I suspect they'll have a mold problem in the future. The light switch to the bathroom is on the outside, which I thought was odd. Other than that, we had a pleasant one night stay. We would stay here again!
